Chapter 12
If there was a chance of you being happy
The world was full of secrets.
Wanda had learnt some of them on her own, sometimes the secrets were good and they brought a smile to her face whereas some others had been terrible and she had paid them in blood and tears. After the Blip and Westview, Wanda was brought to a new world in which she discovered many secrets about the world and herself that were helping her heal.
The wind of winter came to her face brushing away the discomfort of the heavy morning sun on her skin, the sound of the waves hitting the rocks and the beach made the muscles in her body flexed comfortingly. Her green eyes lifted to see you laughing in the distance with Yelena and Sprite, the waves lapping at your feet while Sprite created another illusion to answer the challenge in Yelena’s voice.
Every morning, ever since her and you started their relationship had been a new discovery something Wanda discovered about herself. You had taught her about forgiveness and happiness, she found in you a world she thought she didn’t deserve and you had made her questioned what she wanted for her future.
Up until that day, Wanda had forgotten about the world outside and had seen in your and Vernazza a way to started anew.
She was so comfortable with the new experiences she was living at the moment she forgot the world outside was still recovering from her mistakes. That Natasha and Yelena had brought with them a dark cloud that was threatening to soon broke the peace she had found in your arms and the town lost in time in Italy.
And soon, whether she wanted it or not, she would need to make a decision that would change her life forever.
But for now, she had her eyes on you loving the childish game you started and the way her heartbeat whenever you turned around to share a smile or a secret wink that made her blush like a high school girl.
You winked at her blowing a kiss before a wave came right at you and you ended up falling on your back, Yelena and Sprite high-fiving laughing at you. Wanda chuckled blushing lightly while turning her attention back to the conversation Ajak and Natasha seemed to be holding about the changes in the world.
Wanda didn’t need to hear much to know the word was changing. She could feel it in her fingertips and the way the magic inside her stirred with emotion. The young woman lowered her gaze, her lips curling slightly at the sound of your laughter; Natasha was looking at her with surprised written in her face whereas Ajak smiled with a knowing glint in her stare. She had been there from the very beginning, and she had seen the changes in both women with growing hope in her heart. The both of them deserve the happiness they were starting to reach.
“I didn’t know this beach existed in this place.” Wanda finally commented serving some more fruit on her plate, Ajak nodded pouring the tea before glancing at Natasha then at Wanda.
“It’s a private beach, down the road there is an old Roman Villa, it belongs to a private tenant that allows us from time to time to make a good use of his property.” Ajak offered a kind smile to Natasha who couldn’t help the glint of suspicious whenever her eyes fell upon the woman.
“Well, then I’m glad we can make a good use of this place,” Wanda turned to Natasha noticing the glint of suspicion in her eyes, she sighed lowering her gaze before turning to the place where you and the others seemed to be in deep combat, “I think this is a good place to have the conversation you had been evading ever since you got here, don’t you think, Nat?”
Natasha shifted on her spot, pressing her lips together before taking a sip from her tea.
“I guess it is.” Natasha tilted her head, her eyes falling upon Ajak. “I’m curious to know how you could keep such a low profile that not even the Red Room had any knowledge of you or your people.”
The story about Ajak and Sprite had been rushed and without any specific details, and while for Natasha was obvious there was more to tell, neither you nor Ajak spoke a word afterwards. For the moment, the Widow would let it pass, but her own secrets and stories could not be held any longer and she knew sooner or later she would need to speak with Wanda and Y/N.
Ajak tilted her head, her smile softening slightly.
“My people have been here even before the Red Room.” The woman straightened up, and the flash of sadness was so genuine Natasha had to look away from that stare. “I guess our low profile could be translated into inactivity.”
Wanda shifted slightly, her eyes drifting to Natasha then back to Ajak.
“We can’t expect everyone with special abilities to come in and save the day.” Natasha finally said, her tone of voice neutral though her eyes narrowing slightly. “Not all of them were born to be heroes.”
“Not all heroes are what they appear to be, Miss Romanoff.”
“Natasha.” The young woman replied, her lips breaking into a smile.
Ajak nodded at her smiling back, “being a hero has many meanings, and some are meant to be a part of history while others are meant to be in the backstage, don’t you think?”
Natasha stiffened at this, her eyes drifting away from the older woman before she nodded lightly.
“I guess you’re right.”
Wanda was quite confused by the conversation, but before she could say something you and the others came right in with huge smiles and laughter in your lips. That was all the young woman needed it to forget about the conversation, you sat down by her side and your hand soon found hers bringing a pleasant warm to her soul making her and Scarlet stirred in pleasure.
“So, what are you guys talking about? You have serious faces and we thought we may come all the way here to animate this.” You commented leaning in to steal a strawberry, Natasha and Yelena glanced at one another just as Ajak and Sprite changed glances.
“We were just having some light conversation.” Wanda leaning in resting her weight on your side, your heart squeezed tightly in your chest at the gesture.
For a moment it seemed as if you missed the interaction between the other women, however there was a tension you could sense a mile away. It was something Natasha had brought with her from the world outside, and something Ajak had felt the moment you finally introduced them to the Avenger and her sister. The worlds Wanda and you were part of joining in a single moment of time, Ajak knew the reasons behind this, but she wasn’t sure if it had been wise or not.
“I think by the faces everyone is making that we need to have a serious conversation, am I right?” You leaned back, eyeing everyone around the beach.
“I think we do.” Natasha finally said looking around the beach, they were the only ones in there and the midday sun gleamed with intensity right above your heads.
Wanda straightened up, her hand never leaving yours though her heart was beating hard against her ribcage when her eyes met those of Natasha. There was something solemn and serious in the other woman; Yelena stirred on her spot but her stare was completely focused on you.
“Well, what is it? You guys had been weird since coming here, and I’m starting to think there is something bad going on.” Wanda finally stated pressing her lips together when Natasha centred her attention on her.
“Something happened after you left Westview.”
The mention of Westview made Wanda dizzy.
For a brief moment, every single moment she lived there came back rushing in a wave of memories and emotions she had learnt to sort inside her heart and mind. The presence born out of her mistakes in that town stirred with anger and regret, sadness came right in when the memories of the harm she did and what she lost threatened to overwhelm her.
She didn’t notice her own reaction, but you had sensed it.
The way her eyes went wide, and then her temperature dropped leaving her hands completely cold. You could sense the changed in her magic, the fear growing in her mind while she was on the brim of losing herself again. You wrapped your hand around hers, and without even thinking about it you opened a magic link to her. A soothing caress of the light in you, brushing lightly with the chaos that was hers.
Wanda lowered her gaze to your hand and hers, her heart stopped beating for a moment until she let go. Scarlet purred inside her mind and soon she too opened herself to the sudden caress of your magic.
Natasha furrowed her brow, she stopped for a moment before speaking of what had happened ever since she left Wanda in Italy and went back to the States.
“The ex-director of SWORD escape right after he was arrested by Monica Rambeau.” Natasha started a story of how Tony had come forth to try and minimize the damage of what Westview had signified for people with special powers and the Avengers in a particular.
The mention of the former director of SWORD, Tyler Hayward, made Wanda’s blood boiled. The man’s only purpose had been to see if she would be capable of giving enough energy to the body of Vision. She had fallen right into the hands of two players she wasn’t even aware of in the midst of her grief; the fact she was hearing the man escape made her worried.
“A lot of people became interested in what happened, and Hayward took advantage of this to escape and take with him the remains of Vision.”
Yelena shifted on her spot, the air around them changed slightly electrifying their senses. Wanda was trying to conceal her real emotions, but it was quite clear by the way her eyes changed colour and the tension on her shoulders and lips that she was angry.
“What do you mean with remains?” This time around it was Ajak the one to speak, the older woman furrowed her brows in clear confusion.
Natasha and Yelena glanced at one another before they settled their eyes on Wanda. The tension was quite evident in the air, whatever mood of happiness or relaxation had left the scene the moment they sat down on the beach. Wanda let go of the hand holding hers, she stirred lightly putting her shoulders back lifting her head to look at the ocean existing right in front of her.
The silence was deafening.
You didn’t take your eyes from the woman sitting beside you, you heard the story not only from Natasha by from Wanda herself. The story of her former lover, and the one she had loved to the point she was ready to leave reality to be by his side. Your heart pressed against your ribcage, the doubts filling your mind came back poking at your thoughts just as you cut the link you tried to open with Wanda.
Natasha let her eyes drifted to where you were sitting, she could see your eyes settled on some spot on the sand though she could tell your attention was on Wanda. How did she miss this? How could she not predict this could happen? Watching the Wanda she was seeing at the moment, to the one she left months ago Natasha was happy to discover something good had happened between the both of you.
Still…
This news was surely shaking something inside Wanda, and you didn’t look too happy with her reaction. Natasha wondered if perhaps her intervention, and the news she brought could have been spared and if they could have dealt with everything on their own.
“Vision was my…we…” Wanda hesitated for a brief moment she felt empty, the darkness she thought was no longer part of her sneaked inside her mind and Scarlet came forth trying to give her the strength she was looking for.
“He was my former lover.” Wanda finally revealed, this much Ajak and Sprite knew the both of them turned to you but it was clear you were not ready to be confronted.
“He was not human, more like a sintezoide…” Wanda trailed off furrowing her brows at the explanation she was giving. Vision was more than a machine, he had a soul and he had loved her. “He wore an infinity stone, the Mind Stone. He was…”
“He died in the fight with Thanos and was not possible to bring him back.” This time around Yelena intervene when it was quite obvious Wanda would not be able to complete her explanation. “The problem is, since he was not human but an android his parts are pretty important but they haven’t been able to reproduce the energy the Mind Stone gave him to bring him back.”
“This Hayward…he wanted to bring Vision back?” This time around you spoke, your eyes devoid of any emotion and you were careful to centre your attention on Natasha.
“That seems to be his original plan, yes.” Natasha then shot a quick glance at Wanda before looking over at you. “He stole the body again, and right now is on the run. But things back in the States are getting almost impossible to control since this only brought back problems we thought were over.”
“The Sokovian Accords.” You nodded in understanding; the world had always been afraid of what they didn’t know or understand. It had always been that way, and people like yourself and the ones sitting on the beach with you had always been subject to the hatred and the sheer desire of seeing you either dominate or destroyed.
Wanda put a hand on her face, she was starting to understand the extension of her actions and the consequences they brough upon the people she loved.
It’s not our fault. We just wanted to be happy.
Why are we still paying for all of this?
The question went unanswered, Scarlet could sense the distress coming from Wanda and the lack of warmth you were providing. Neither one of them dare to poke into your mind, to even look at you or go back to the hand-to-hand touch. They were afraid of the rejection, of the realisation that they were more of a problem that someone you would want nearby.
“They can’t extend their influence over here.” Sprite chimed in, her brows knitted together as she spoke. “This problem is mainly in the States, but it has nothing to do with fear but with control. They know someone like Wanda is powerful and having her under control would give them a great advantage over other countries.”
Your lips broke into an easy smile, everyone had their attention on the young red-haired woman. Sprite had always been sharp, and while she looked young her mind was that of a great strategist. She had always read politics pretty well and had always been the voice of reason when humans in general went right into the same pattern of war and hatred.
“This Hayward…he is the real problem.” Sprite then settled her eyes on Natasha. “Why are you really here? Why is the disappearance of the man and the android so important?”
“Because my powers come partially from the Mind Stone.” Wanda revealed finally understanding what Natasha had been trying to say. “Hayward is looking for me?”
“That’s what Tony and Monica suspect.” Natasha let her eyes travelled around the people sitting at the beach, the bright sun above their heads and the dark clouds coming from the sea was the right contrasts of the situation they were living at that very moment.
“How can Wanda bring him back?” Ajak straightened up, she never turned her eyes to you but it was quite obvious in the way she held herself and the coldness in her tone that something was bothering her. “In what state will you bring him back?”
Wanda snapped her head back to the older woman, the redhead woman furrowed her brows with her shoulders put back and her chin lifting slightly in defiance. Much like the weather that day, Wanda was a mixture of contradictions at the moment.
“What do you mean in what state?” Up until that moment Wanda had not really thought of the hidden message in the conversation. It wasn’t until Ajak had posed the question that she realized what Hayward was trying to do.
Bring Vision back.
Was It possible?
Was it possible she could bring Vision back? That…
The harsh caressed of the cold breeze made her shivered, she remembered the day she saw his body. She had tried to sense the soul and the heart of the man she had loved only to find she could no longer feel him. Vision was no longer there, and Wanda had never felt as alone as she felt at that moment the only thing she could think of was taking him with her and giving him a proper burial.
It never crossed her mind to…to bring him back.
She never thought it was a possibility.
Chaos magic…that’s what Agatha said to us. She said I could re write reality and…
Wanda, is this what you really want? Is this what we want? Is he…
It was at that moment that Wanda felt the weight of your eyes on her. Her green eyes found yours, and from a brief moment there was nothing she could see in them. You had said nothing at all up until that point, your thoughts had been yours and the best defence you found to the tempest that was your head and emotions was the silence and blankness in your stare.
You could see the doubt in her eyes, the glimpse of hope at the mere thought her powers could bring him back. You heart broke. Something that had started a couple of weeks ago was nothing to what she had lived with the other man, machine or not, he was the love of her life. She almost lost herself for him, she almost lost herself to grief because of him…
Who were you to change that?
“You were saying he is not human, a machine that came to be thanks to an infinity stone, and I’m not sure you know the extend of the powers of this gems.” Ajak shifted slightly crossing her stare with yours. “He may not be what you expected him to be this time around.”
“Whether that’s the case or not, Hayward thinks it’s possible and Tony agrees with him.” Natasha chimed in, her eyes pinning Wanda to the spot. “Vision’s body is strong and a powerful weapon, in the wrong hands could be disastrous.”
“That’s what we are here.” Yelena shrugged, though her attention was on you. “To make sure you were sane enough for us to take you back and try to find this asshole before something bad happens.”
“I’m sorry you have to go through all of this all over again, Wanda, but we really need you.” Natasha all but whispered, her heart heavy with guilt knowing she was breaking the one chance the redhead had to recover for everything that had happened in her life. A chance to the happiness she seemed to have acquired with you, Natasha still remembered the conversation she held with Wanda, she held the secret of Wanda’s feelings for you and she knew this sudden news would change what you two had been building in the last couple of months.
Nothing else was said, at that very moment thunder broke into the sky falling on the calm waters of the Mediterranean. You clenched your jaw standing up, your eyes gleaming slightly before you soothe your soul and mind.
“We better go, that seems to be a thunderstorm.” And without any other word, you turned around leaving everyone on the beach with the heavy weight of destiny hanging above their heads.
The storm came as soon as you stepped into your home.
Everyone was filling out the living room, with Sprite and Yelena running to the TV and Natasha and Ajak going directly to the kitchen to prepare some tea.  No one said anything, but you found yourself alone in the hallway with Wanda standing awkwardly right beside you.
The sound of blowing wind and water falling on the rooftop threatened to overwhelmed your senses, you creased your brows turning around and making your way to your room.
That part of the house was in darkness, your windows had always been perfect to show the outside world and this time around it was not an exception. You had always marvelled at the sight silver lightning igniting the skies, the twirling wind and water dancing around the glass while the sound of the storm filled the silence in your room.
You didn’t need to turn around to know Wanda had followed you there.
The air around you were charged with magic, her whole being had been shaken by the news brought by Natasha. She was restless, and the magic in her was reacting to her emotions; you sighed knowing there was a conversation you need to be held at the moment and you wished you could run from it.
“This doesn’t change anything.” Her voice broke the silence, and the softness behind her words and the doubt dripping from them didn’t change your mood or your thoughts.
“Please, don’t lie to me.” You turned around and your eyes found those of Wanda. It was clear by the one her left eye gleamed red that she and Scarlet where with you in the room.
You could almost sense the reflection of the witch right behind you, but you stood there unmovable with your heart beating painfully hard against your chest. Your mind filled out with doubts, just as Wanda stood in front of you with the gleam of hope in her stare.
“I’m not lying.” Wanda bit her lower lip, her right arm holding onto her left forearm. She hadn’t said it, and that moment was not the right one to tell you about her feelings for you.
She was afraid and confused. Everything came into her without her asking for it, her feelings for you, the guilt of what happened in Westview, the possibility of Vision coming back to life. Everything was a mixture of feelings she could barely controlled at the moment. The only thing she knew, the only thing she and Scarlet wanted was to reach out for you, to make you understand…but she didn’t know how to do it.
She didn’t know how to say it without it sounding wrong.
Your lips broke into a bitter smile, “I know what this means to you, Wanda. You came here to heal, and you have been doing wonderfully, but right now Natasha present you with a possibility you didn’t even know was out there. This change everything.”
Wanda felt as if your words hit a sore nerve inside her soul, she furrowed her brows trying to justify her actions. It wasn’t as if what she had lived up until that point with you meant nothing, because that was not the case but she did owe Vision and everyone to at least try and do something.
“I never thought about it, but if there is a chance…if I can make things right…” She started and you huffed breaking the eye contact and looking away from the other woman. “I owe them everything.”
“You owe them nothing!” You exclaimed without meaning to.
You had seen the suffering in her heart, you had been there hearing the stories, sharing with her the moments in which she tried to recover after giving everything to a world that was never grateful for what she sacrificed, if anything the world seemed ready to ask more from her that she should give. It had been five months in which you had seen the darkness lurking in her eyes, you had felt the magic corrupting her as she tried to seek out happiness and right the moment she was finally finding peace and perhaps happiness the world came back with this.
Was it fair?
“I know that I don’t owe them…but…” Wanda hesitated, her mind dancing around a million thoughts and her heart beating fast just as it broke at the sight of your enraged posture. “I have to try it, to make it right…what if…”
The world was still out there.
Natasha and Yelena spoke of what had happened to the inhabitants of Westview, they had talked about the legal actions many wanted to take against Wanda and the government for being incapable of defending them in their time of need. As if that wasn't enough, the lack of control the government had over organisations such as SWORD and even SHIELD was something that the military and the Department of State was taking up very seriously in the face of new superheroes and villains showing up after the Blip.
“What if there is still a chance? What if we can make it right?” Wanda was not sure as to what she was talking about, she really was not sure what she was hoping for.
The last couple of months had been like a dream, and little by little the wound left by the loss of Vision and the mistakes she made was only possible because you had been right there for her. She wrapped her arms tightly around her body, the doubts that had always assaulted her came back, and she was not sure as to what was expected of her, what she should do. Who she should chose.
"It's not your responsibility, Wanda."  You finally snapped, the gravity of the news and the implications of what was being said didn't go amiss by you but it was quite evident this was not an issue only for Wanda to carry on her shoulders. “It will never be your responsibility, that’s not what being a hero means.”
"How can you say that?" Wanda turned around to finally face you. “That you are afraid to go out there and do something to change the world doesn’t mean everyone has to do the same! That you are so afraid you prefer to turn your back on them doesn’t mean we have to do the same!”
Another thunder broke into the sky, your eyes opened wide at her words.
Fear of the world outside.
It wasn’t fear, you clenched your fists looking away from her. Wanda opened her eyes wide, stepping closer only to stop herself.
“I won’t stay here running away from everything, Y/N.”
“Of course not, you prefer to go back to a world that has been afraid of you to lick up their boots instead of…” You trailed off, your lips clenched tightly as you shake your head crossing the room with firmed, enraged strides.
Wanda stood there wondering what the hell happened.
You hated the tears forming in your eyes, and before anyone could do or say anything you left the protective walls of your house and flew right into the storm.
The rain was falling strongly on the land.
The wind and the cold made you shivered, but your anger and frustration were far greater and thus you took advantage of this to let out your emotions through a session of training with your magic and your fighting forms.
You were frustrated, you could not stop thinking about the happenings of that day.
The conversation kept on running in your head over and over, the words from Natasha your conversation with Wanda everything was coming down on you feeding up your fears and insecurities as much as your frustration with the whole situation.
You knew a part of you was being childish, Wanda had gone through some bad things in her life and the last thing she needed it at the moment was for you to not support her. You told Yelena and Natasha that you were ready to live with her everywhere as long as it was with her, so why were you so sensitive about the topic?
Your feet slid through the ground, you spined around stretching your arm in a half strike that was easily blocked by Ajak. Your eyes opened wide at the sight, the older woman offered a half smile before her closed fist came right into contact with your jaw.
You fell on the ground, the water creeping in with mud and grass.
“Ajak!” The woman laughed taking a fighting stance, you huffed jumping right to your feet and going into the offensive.
Your feet danced around the terrain, your legs stretching up with your elbows up and fists closed to protect yourself while also kicking halfway to the other woman. It was a nice exercise and soon, whatever anger and frustration you were feeling was replaced by the sadness and the insecurity the situation brought to you.
Ajak stopped the last punch to her face and soon her arms were tightly wrapped around you.
“I know what you are experiencing, Y/N. I don’t pretend to understand it, but I know.” Ajak put you at arm’s length, and you couldn’t help but show your shaky smile.
“I’m just…I haven’t felt like this in such a long time, and now…” You passed your hand over your hair, the cold barely affecting you just as you finally let go. “I’m afraid this is it, that I will lose her and she will…”
Ajak softened her features, her hand cleaning up the mud on your face and putting a strand of hair behind your ear.
“Don’t you trust her, Y/N? Don’t you trust what you feel for her? What the both of you have built so far?” The questions were quite simple, and you knew what the other woman was trying to find out.
“A part of me does, Ajak. The other part…hesitates.”
“And why does it hesitate?”
You sighed stepping back, you hated it when Ajak confronted you with your own emotions. With those thoughts you knew would be the final sentence of what you were living with Wanda. It was part of your nature, of who you really were.
“Because…I wish I could be selfish and keep her with me.” You mumbled shaking your head. “But I will give her anything she ask for without a single doubt, I…if this is what she wants, if he is…I will…”
Ajak nodded offering you a tender smile, you huffed again shaking your head.
“How fucking pathetic I am.”
“You’re not pathetic.” Ajak glanced at the sky before settling her eyes on you. “You loved without measure, and you have never been envious nor have you been selfish. This is hard on you, but you have to trust in what you and her have lived so far.”
You shook your head; the doubts plague your mind but you decided to just let it go for the time being.
“I wish it was that easy.” You mumbled. “I’m just…”
Whatever else you were about to say was suddenly interrupted but the sound of heavy explosions. Your eyes opened wide, Ajak turned around to the source of the sound where your house was located.
“Wanda!” You exclaimed before taking off and running down the hill with Ajak close behind.
The place was a complete disaster.
You heard guns, and another explosion.
Your house was on fire and Natasha and Yelena were engaged in a fight with two soldiers while Sprite was running around trying to get to the guest house. Your eyes gleamed gold, your hands stretching around while your fingers wriggled reading your magic.
“Y/N!” You heard your name but before you could do anything at al, your eyes fell upon the unconscious form of Wand and then another explosion that sent you flying to the other side.
The last thing you could see was the plane above your heads flying away. Then everything went dark.

Chapter 10
A final confession
The world around her had changed.
The mornings were no longer filled with regret, nor were they filled with uncertainty of the future to come. There was sorrow in her heart, yes. Vision had been an important part of her life after having lost Pietro, and her life had been thrust into a complete frenzy that was the life of a superhero. The life of an Avenger. But she couldn’t dwell in the past with regret when the world was giving her another chance.
Wanda thought she would never get a rest, that she was destined to go from one loss to another. Her eyes got lost in the distance, the presence inside her stirred restlessly at the wave of memories invading her thoughts at the moment. She never thought this trip, this moment of peace, was all she needed it to give herself a chance.
To have a second chance.
To meet you.
Wanda had enjoyed your enthusiasm in the last couple of days, your eagerness to take her down different paths while showing her a world she rarely got to admire. The stories of your youth, the many adventures you had lived through lifetimes that she and you didn’t dare to question. How easily had been for you to share those stories without asking for anything in return, your warmth and your smile following your words whenever you were facing Wanda.
You had changed her world.
And then, Wanda found herself sharing her stories with you.
The stories she had not dared to share with anyone before or after Vision, the stories that had forged in her the person she was at the moment. Wanda found herself telling you everything, without any reservations; it came so naturally one day, you paid close attention as Wanda told share with you snippets of her life. Her childhood. Her suffering.
Wanda found herself sharing her past, her dreams and her hopes she told you about her parents and Pietro, the moments they enjoyed as a family before disaster. She told you about Pietro and the time they spent together running and fighting until Ultron came in. She told you about Vision, and how lost she had felt for a very long time.
The sun finally sneaked in; Wanda shifted her posture glancing at your backyard waiting patiently to see if you would come that morning. She played with the mug on her hands, her mind running around the thousand thoughts that welcome her that morning. Natasha had already confirmed to her she would be arriving to Vernazza the next day and Wanda was just waiting excitedly for such a reunion.
She really was in need for Natasha’s voice of reason and advice. While it was evident what she felt for you, Wanda was still just trading on thin ice with these emotions. Everything was so new for her, and she was scared. She was scared of giving too much, of feeling too much. Of losing everything.
Without meaning to, and without planning to, you had become the light of her days. Wanda was so afraid to relay on you to hold her up, to perhaps offer the foundations to keep herself up after so much pain; she didn’t want to think that losing you would send her back into a spiral of craziness like the time she lost Vision, Pietro, and her parents. She knew this was what she had done with Vision, he had offered stability and a way to escape her grief for Pietro and her mistakes, and her dependence on him had ultimately broke her soul and heart in multiple pieces.
The presence inside her stirred at these memories, but different to other occasions she didn't feel the need to tamper with the Darkhold. On the contrary, all she wanted to do was meditate and perhaps take care of Thena’s garden and shared some light training in your company. These activities usually soothe her restless soul, which was the reason why Wanda had been waiting for you to make an appearance at your backyard.
Wanda jerked away startled when a knock on her front door called her attention. Scarlet rolled her eyes when a sudden grin appeared on the young witch’s face, she let the mug on the counter making her way to the front door. There was only one person that would come out this early, and since you weren’t on the backyard that meant you were right there.
Eager much?
"Don't act as if you don't want to see her." Wanda replied rolling her eyes.
I don't. Scarlet shifted hiding away her embarrassment.
Wanda snorted but direct her attention to the door. You were standing there wearing some baggy pants and a light shirt, your smile bright and full of energy.
“Good morning, Little Witch, did you sleep well?”
"How can you have so much energy after yesterday?" Wanda replied half amused and half tiredly stepping back and going over the kitchen for your cup of coffee.
"How can you not with such a beautiful morning and the whole adventure I have prepared for today?"
Wanda snorted shaking her head in disbelief, when you told her you were going to offer her the full adventure of being with you…well, being in Vernazza, she never thought you would take her everywhere to just experience the town and all it had to offer. The days she had shared with you as of late were filled with only adventures, promises of what could be.
Of what we could have. Wouldn’t you like this? The question echoed inside her mind, but Wanda was not ready to explore the answer and Scarlet had distracted herself with your words and smile to continue digging in the topic.
"I'm dead tired, you really have taken me…" Wanda couldn’t finish her sentence, she found herself trapped in your arms before you crashed your lips to hers.
The young woman shivered under your embrace, your lips dancing around in a teasing pace satiating whatever thirst you had for her. Wanda let herself go, melting right in your arms wrapping hers around your neck; she soon realized she could not get enough of you, and day by day she found herself consume by thoughts of you making it harder for Wanda to deny you something, anything.
You tilted your head changing angles, your tongue sneaking in tentatively until the woman in your arms tensed and, out of nowhere, let out a whimper melting in your arms. No sooner had she done this, Wanda stopped startled eyes wide open while you merely raised an eyebrow, your lips curling into a satisfied smile. This was the first time Wanda made such a sound, though this was also the first time you had tried to include your tongue in the kissing.
"Oh god…" The exclamation came with a mortified tone of voice, Wanda felt the blush growing on her face while your laughter filled her senses and she leaned in to hide away her face from you.
You chuckled wrapping your arms around her, feeling her warm breath on your neck as her face hid on the crook of your neck.
Fuck, she is going to be the death of us.
Your hand lifted to caress her cheek, and your eyes gleamed with something Wanda could not read. The young woman leaned into your touch, clenching her eyes close for a moment before looking directly into yours.
“I won’t tease you; I swear but…damn.” You chuckled when Wanda tried to hide away again, she let out a nervous laugh before turning her face to you again.
“What was that for?” She finally asked, her lips quirking upwards when you chuckled shrugging.
“I miss you?” You said tentatively, Wanda chuckled hiding away the blush on her face by pressing her face to your neck again. Your arms went right away to her waist and hers wrap comfortably around your back.
Wanda couldn’t help the beating of her heart, or how these moments made her feel. You allowed yourself a content smile, the weight of her body against yours was comforting and in all honesty you had missed her. It was absurd how much you missed her smile, and her voice and the silly conversations even though you two were living right next door and everything about this relationship was new and it hadn’t been discussed completely.
“What about a nice cup of coffee and then we get ready for the day I have planned for you?” You asked softly, the young woman in your arms tensed lightly before stepping back.
“What adventure did you plan for today?” She tilted her head with curiosity, you wriggled your eyebrows winking playfully.
“It’s a surprise, Principessa!” You exclaimed spreading your arms before pointing a finger to her. “But you will need a bathing suit so I hope you bring one.”
This time around Wanda tensed, her eyes opening for a brief moment before her eyebrows came together in a frown.
“Bathing suit?” You nodded offering a long stare before your lips curled up.
“Yeah, Principessa, a bathing suit.”
“I don’t know how to swim.” She spluttered out, the blush she had been wearing since the kiss increasing tenth fold under your appreciative stare.
“What? How come?” You exclaimed shaking your head while putting your hands on her shoulders. “Swimming is the best feeling in the world, Wands!”
Wanda tensed slightly, a dark shadow crossed her face and soon you realized this was not a light topic but something that went deeper into her past. You shifted slightly waiting through the silence while Wanda dropped her shoulders lifting her face to you.
“I never had the chance.” She tried to smile but it came like a grimace. “I didn’t think I would get the chance in here so; I didn’t bring one. I don’t even owe one.”
You nodded this time around you stepped closer to her, two fingers under her chin so your eyes found those green orbs filled with emotions. You offered a smile, before speaking seriously.
“I can lend you one, and then I can take it upon myself to teach you how to swim.” You stated softly, Wanda offered a shaky smile and you just tilted your head. “But we can also do something else, and perhaps visit the nearby beach. Whatever you want, Wanda.”
Your words went right through her heart, her body shivered under your attention and the explosion of butterflies in her stomach was everything Wanda had not experience in a long time. She knew at that moment that her heart had made the decision for her, Wanda let out a sigh, her eyes gleaming between green and red.
We really are in trouble whenever she is nearby, but you better accept this invitation or I will personally destroy you.
Wanda broke into a chuckled making you blinked confusedly for a moment, the redhead shook her hand leaning in to place a kiss at the corner of your lips.
“I’m curious to see how you will teach me to swim.” She said happily before stepping back. “How about you go for that coffee while I get ready and then you can show me the options for the bathing suit?”
“Are you sure?” You had the need to ask it again, but when all you could see was tenderness and resolution inside her eyes you knew Wanda was ready to continue with her life in many aspects perhaps she hadn’t done before.
And you were happy to be a part of this new change.
Your chest swelled up with pride, your grin lip up your face nodding with excitement. You stepped back turning your attention to the kitchen then back to Wanda
“Very well, Principessa, go and get ready. I’ll prepare us something lighter to eat and then off we go.”
Wanda chuckled when you crashed against the closest wall, she watched you walked away before turning around and making her way to her room. Her heart ached inside her chest, and her whole body tingled with anticipation.
That day promised to be quite the adventure.
And if we have our way, this would be just one day of many others in which we will be up for any kind of adventure with Y/N.
Wanda snorted but didn’t dare to contradict Scarlet. After all, her alter ego was right. Whatever was happening between the both of you, it promised to be the kind of adventure Wanda had been waiting for.
______________________________________________________________
Wanda soon discovered that with you every day was a completely new experience.
She had never experienced the world in the way she was doing at the moment, never had a chance to experience the simplest of things while forgetting about the dangers of the world. The wind on her face smell like the sea, and the changing of seasons while the sun above her head warm up the uncovered skin of her arms was all she needed at the moment.
The wind was blowing predictably around them, pushing the sails while directing the sailboat down the open sea to the promise island you had mentioned before helping Wanda in. At first the young woman had been surprised by the sailboat, and then her surprised turned into complete shock when you revealed the boat was Ajak’s and that was the next step in your adventures.
“There is an island to the east, beautiful and with the best sunsets in the world.” You said stretching your hand to Wanda. “Let me show you a different kind of magic, Little Witch, I promised you won’t regret this.”
And so far, Wanda had not regretted a single second of the trip.
The morning had advanced slowly around them, Wanda had enjoyed the full explanation on how the sailing boat worked along with the story of how Ajak had come to acquire it. The conversation wasn’t supposed to go into deep detail, but Sprite and Ajak had gone all out into the explanation they forgot you and Wanda hadn’t talked about the full story behind your life. Or more accurately your age, and that of Sprite of Ajak. Her face changed all of a sudden, the eyes opening at the revelation but also at the quick calculations she was capable of and, at that moment, she knew…her eyes met with those of yours and you could see the myriad of emotions running through those green-red eyes.
That had been almost an hour ago, the sailboat was about to reach its destination and you and Wanda had not crossed a single word since then. The sound of laughter and conversation made her frown, her eyes found you deep into a stupid game with Sprite while she was there sulking and thinking over what she just found out about you. About your age, about your family.
“You didn’t know.” Ajak stated once she had fixed the navigation board. The island was already visible, the sailboat navigating teasingly through the waters to reach the last miles they needed to cross to get to the island.
Wanda shifted on the spot furrowing her brows before settling her eyes on you. Sprite was laughing at something you said, and soon the both of you took on a fighting stance that ended up in a game of who would throw the other over the bow. You had been nervous when the conversation took a turn down an unknown path, Wanda had said nothing but when her eyes met yours the young woman couldn’t help the look of pure betrayal gleaming in her eyes.
“No, I didn’t.” It bothered her at some point, she heard your stories but never imagine the age gap was so great.
It’s not the age gap what bothers you, Wanda. It’s the secrecy, the ages in her eyes…how long has she been around. How many lovers before you…how many after you…after us…
Wanda pressed her lips together; she wished this piece of information had not come to her in such a way. Her mind was already dancing around with the possibilities of you having lived for so long.
“She was a child when we found her.” Ajak said all of a sudden. “No older than 14 years old.”
Wanda tensed but didn’t tear her eyes from your form, you could feel her eyes on you but you also knew at the moment Wanda wanted to be alone. To be away from you.
“How old are you guys? How come you have lived so long?” Wanda inquired softly, the questions she wanted to ask trapped in her throat while she lowered her gaze.
“Many centuries, many millenniums.” Ajak shrugged leaning back against the rails on her back. “Does it matter?”
Wanda opened her mouth to speak then closed it again. Did it matter? A part of her knew it did, if they had been around for so long, possessing abilities like the ones they had shown so far then they could have changed the course of history many times. Wanda lifted her face to see you dripping wet, Sprite with her arms crossed smiling smugly at you.
“You could have helped against Thanos.” Wanda commented softly, Ajak lowered her gaze shrugging.
“That was a mistake, yes.” She said softly, her eyes turned to you then back to Wanda. “We should have, but Y/N had sworn to never intervene and our mission didn’t allow us to do much in a human fight.”
Wanda shifted upset, her brows knitting together at these words. The world could have been different if you and the others had helped.
Really? Do you think so? Would the world be different if she had fought against Thanos? Ultron?
Wanda was tempted to say that yes, it would have been different but the truth was no one knew. How many enhanced heroes were out there that had never helped in the fights the Avengers fought?  Could she blame you?
“What does it bother you about this new piece of information, Wanda?” Ajak finally asked redirecting her attention to Wanda.
The young woman observed just how you outmanoeuvred Sprite and with a single push the young woman fell to the sea. Your laughter soon died off, turning around your eyes found those of Wanda breaking into a sad stare. You were trying to ask for forgiveness, to say to her that you were sorry for not telling her the whole truth. And Wanda could read it in your thoughts, in the way you were projecting your apologies to her.
Wanda turned away from you settling her green eyes on Ajak.
“I don’t want to be a passing memory in her mind.” Wanda revealed surprising herself by her admittance.
Ajak softened then; she lowered her face before shrugging.
“I believe for that particular inquiry you will need to go to Y/N.” Ajak said softly making sure Wanda heard everything she had to say about the topic. “This is something you will need to discuss with her before getting into something else with her.”
Wanda shifted on her spot; Scarlet stirred inside her in the same uncomfortable way. Ajak then placed a hand on hers, her lips curling slightly.
“I can tell you something, though.” Wanda furrowed her brows leaning in so the woman could whisper the secret she was holding close to her heart. For the very first time her thoughts were clear, and easy to read. “Y/N had never been like this with anyone, not before Eliza and certainly not after her. And yet, I can tell you that the happiness you had brought to her is like nothing she had experienced before. Or after. Just…think about it.”
The soothing rocking of the water distracted her from all the other voices and interactions happening on the boat. Wanda observed the water changed of colour, and the day became warmer while the island moved closer to them. The game you had started with Sprite continued way into the travel until she stopped hearing laughter and conversation and a shadow hovered above her.
You offered a tentative smile, on your hands two glasses filled with orange juice.
“Would you mind if I accompanied you?” You then lifted your hands. “I brought gifts.”
Wanda cocked her head to the side before shrugging, her lips drawing in the ghost of a smile while she palmed the spot beside her.
“Sure, I could use a cold drink and nice company.”
Her words were a relief to you, and the way she seemed less bothered and upset about the whole revelation earlier in the day made you take the spot beside her. You could hear Ajak and Sprite speak with the man that had come to pick all of you up to go to the shore. They were making a little time, Ajak turned to you and you turned to Wanda who was biting her lower lip pensively.
“We can go with them, if you want.” You stated softly playing with the drink on your hand. “Or we can stay, talk a little and keep my promise to teach you how to swim.”
Wanda sat there for a brief moment; her mind stirred teasingly pushing her slightly to take the second offer. She wasn’t really that surprised, Scarlet had a way to figure things out way before she herself did, and this time around there was something in her alter ego that was pushing her to accept. To listen and to stop running.
You know why we have to listen to this, Wanda. We are far too deep into this to just let her go.
“I think I can stay and talk, I’m not so sure about the swimming part.” Wanda offered you a tiny smile, you chuckled back waving Ajak who took the hint and left as soon as you signalled her.
“I promise you I’m a good teacher.” You replied taking a sip from the juice, the sound of the sea hitting the shores cut of the silence alongside the birds that were flying around the island.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Wanda finally asked drinking from her own glass while her eyes danced around the landscape.
You shifted your weight around sitting comfortably beside her while letting your feet hang above the edge of the boat. Wanda wasn’t supposed to find out about your age the way she did, you were supposed to talk it over in a different circumstance.
"I have a plan for that conversation." You grimaced shrugging. "I was just waiting for the right moment; we haven't talked about… this."
You pointed at yourself and then at Wanda, your reference tentative with a hint of doubt in your voice. The conversation the both of you had postponed was put on the spotlight once more. Wanda leaned forward nodding in understanding, the frown didn't leave her face but this time around it was more contemplative than anything else.
"I didn't want to… I mean, I'm old and I didn't want to… scare you." You sighed scratching the back of your head. "The age gap could be an issue and I just…"
"It's strange., but not an issue." This time around Wanda dipped her head with a tiny smile on her lips.
"Is it not?" You sounded surprised, and when Wanda turned to you with her coy smile and dust of red on her cheeks you couldn't help but smile. "You like them older than you, uh?"
Her laughter made your heart soar with happiness. You softened slightly; she shook her head with the sweet disbelief that she seemed to reserve only for you.
"You're impossible." She said, looking away before continuing. "I am afraid."
Her admittance echoed in your head; you contemplated the waves waiting for Wanda to continue.
"What if I am nothing more than another memory in your mind?" Wanda chewed on her lower lip, now she understood why you had postponed this revelation.
Speaking about this would be speaking about the both of you and what it meant the latest development in your relationship. Would she be a memory to you? You glanced at your hand, age was already consuming you at a slow rate, but it was there and it wasn't as if you were an immortal, because you weren't.
"You could never be another memory, Wanda." Your eyes found those of hers, your heart beating with a single truth that you were surprised to discover at the top of your tongue. "I want to grow old with you."
The revelation made Wanda gasp; she turned her attention to you but you distracted yourself with the undulating water under your feet. The world had always moved at a slow rate for you, the rush of the everyday life was something you had stopped experiencing since you decided to turn your back to the everyday news about the happenings of the world. The wind caressed your skin lightly, the sun above your heads bright and warm, but not uncomfortable; the weight of Wanda’s stare made you take a resolution.
Whether this day, this moment…this trip ended well for you or not, you could not let go of Wanda until she knew the whole story, until she got to know you, the real you and…Yeah, time was no longer moving slowly for you, and you didn’t want to miss this chance.
“I have told you about my powers, how they work, what they do.” Wanda nodded curtly; your lips curled into a bitter smirk. “When I started using them to hurt people, all I did was steal from them.”
“Steal?” Wanda shivered under the coldness behind your stare.
“Their souls. Their lifespan.” Your words were filled with regret, and there was something else Wanda could not identify completely but that sounded like desperation. “I heard the voices of my victims for so long I had learnt to just silence them.”
Wanda winced at this, she remembered a scene back in Westview when everyone around the town came to her asking for her to let them go. Their voices and their thoughts, everything came back to her making her sympathise with you. You straightened up leaning back while glancing at the sky.
“Every single life I stole is running through my own lifespan, but even like that I’m not immortal.” You lifted a hand watching it under the light of the sun. “I can sense it. And, if that were to happen…I just want to be with you. Grow old with you, perhaps live with you and then…”
You let the last part hanging in the air, your head cocked to the side so it was easier to see Wanda. The young woman had her eyes on you, there was an unreadable expression on her face, and for a moment you wished you could read her thoughts. Then after a moment of silent contemplation she turned around furrowing her brows.
“Our mistakes usually haunted us down until we learnt to forgive ourselves.” Wanda spoke softly, more to herself than to you, but still her words pierced through your heart. “I have always been so afraid of my abilities, that when I came back and Thanos was gone I just lose control. I hurt people; my abilities took over who I was until my world came crashing down.”
“So I heard.” You lifted up your torso sitting back with your back straightened up, your hand placing itself tenderly on Wanda’s forearm and she just shrugged bitterly. “I know I’m still a time bomb, I was sent her so everyone could do some damage control and then decided what to do with me.”
You softened slightly, your hand lifting to move a stray lock of hair out of the way.
“And being here has taught me something about myself and the world out there.” Wanda leaned against your touch, “I wish I could have a normal life, if only to build myself from zero. To give myself the opportunity of something else. And if I can, then why can’t you? Your past should be used to learn from it, not to dwell on it.”
You broke into an easy smile; in a single second you lean in placing a tender kiss on her lips before leaning back.
“You are an amazing woman, Wanda. You made mistakes, and yet here you are…being a hero, as always.” Wanda blushed under the intensity of your stare. “I know this topic shook you because of the implications this may have in my life and yours, Wanda. But if you allow me…I want you to be the first real one, and the only one. As I said, I want to grow old with you.”
A shiver of pure pleasure went down Wanda’s back, your stare was quite intense on her then your whole expression softened lowering your face.
“So yes, Wanda, I want to grow old with you. I want the whole experience because…believe it or not, I have never opened up to anyone before you.”
The kiss she placed upon your lips was slow, a tentative touch of the lips that let Wanda explore your mouth while leaning right into you melting in your arms. Whatever was happening, the confession that had not been made completely, you two were ready to give it your all. Your heart ached deliciously in your chest, you never thought you would feel this way again that this young woman would be the one who would break whatever barrier you had placed around yourself and your heart. Your fingertips mapped out the form of her neck and shoulders, tilting your head to deepen the kiss.
You trembled slightly watching with darkened eyes how flustered the other woman was looking, her lips swollen and her eyes gleaming with intensity.
"I think we need to go to the beach." You whispered, caressing her cheeks, offering a single smile.
Wanda lowered her face nodding shyly.
"Yeah, but shouldn't we wait for the boat?" You snorted shaking your head, you stretched out your hand for her to take and soon she was standing beside you.
“I promise I taught you how to swim, so that’s what I’m going to do.” You winked at a flabbergasted Wanda, the other woman started backing away shaking her head while glancing to the boat, the beach and the sea in between.
“Oh, no. You’re making me swim to the shore?” The shock and reluctance in her voice made you chuckled slapping your arm playfully. “No! I won’t…I…”
“I’ll be careful! I swear!” You pointed at yourself then at Wanda. “Besides, we do have powers, whatever happens we can work something out! Come on, I promise it would be fun.”
You pouted a little, your eyes gleaming gold while you leaned in. Wanda shook her head in disbelief though her lips had already curled into a single smile and you knew she would say yes.
“If I drown, I will haunt you down.”
You laughed sneaking your arms around her waist, her breath caught in her throat when your lips found hers in a playful gesture.
“You can trust I will never let anything bad happen to you, Principessa.” You whispered with your lips right above hers, Wanda nodded gently with her heart doing somersaults and the pit on her stomach growing in a tingling sensation that spread out through her body.
“Y/N…” Your name left her lips in a single whisper, but whatever she was going to say die off and the young woman just broke into a content smile placing her arms around your neck leaning back with her eyes locked to yours. “I think we better go; I swear I feel Sprite’s glare on the back of my neck.”
You chuckled turning to see the beach in the distance, the images reflected on the water telling you Sprite had never stopped paying attention to the both of you. You lowered your gaze nodding.
“If you want I can ask them to come here.” You said all of a sudden, letting go of Wanda with some reluctance.
“No, I want you to teach me how to swim.” She replied rather bravely though there was doubt in her green eyes.
“Are you sure? I don’t want you to do it just because I was teasing you.” Wanda shook her head putting her arms around herself.
“Pretty sure, Y/N, I just…I really have never done this, but I trust you.”
That simple declaration made you grin widely, you winked at her stepping back and turning towards the back of the boat. A couple of minutes later you were walking backwards jumping right into the water, you were laughing as Wanda observed the scene with a dumbfound expression. You swan slowly winking at her.
"Come on, Principessa, this feels nice and I swear to you I won't let anything happen to you."
You splashed some water around watching as Wanda stood by the deck hesitant. It wasn't as if she really was overly worried, she knew she could fly away if needed it but making a fool of herself was not at top of the things she wanted to do at the moment. Much less with you there.
"Go on, you don't have to jump if you don’t want to I can hold you and we will do it slowly."
"You promise you won't let go?" Wanda asked with some hesitation still in place.
You looked at her quite serious, "I swear I would never let you go."
And perhaps this was by far too much to say to someone that you had shared a couple of kisses to but haven't talked about your relationship with. There was an intake of breath from Wanda’s part, and you knew she understood the implication behind your words; the young woman nodded curtly before turning around to take off the clothes she had over the bathing suit you lend her.
"Just remember my early warning, if I drown I will hunt you down." Wanda finally said getting ready to go into the water.
With her up above the sailboat, and the light of the morning sun reflecting on her skin you were pretty sure that you were before the most beautiful apparition ever. She looked beautiful with her hair pulled up into a ponytail, her hands wriggling nervously while she held herself reassuringly. She was beyond beautiful, and you couldn’t help the wave of desire and protectiveness that came under such an apparition.
"Come on, you scaredy cat, I’m here for you and I will never let anything bad happen to you.” You assured her again, this time around Wanda smiled approaching the border and with a deep breath she went right in, ready to jump into the ocean.
Wanda let herself fall but the impact never came instead she found herself surrounded by a golden light while the cold laps of the ocean engulfed her body. She shivered warming up almost immediately when her eyes met yours.
"See? I'll keep you safe."
The water was cold, but your touch felt warm against her skin. You were sure to hold onto her from her hips with a hand wrapped around her protectively; Wanda was shivering under this closeness; her heart was about ready to burst out of her chest and all the things you were making her feel at the moment.
"Relax, you're to tense and to keep afloat you don't need to kick and wave like crazy.” Your voice was right beside her ear, soft and amused. “Just relax and let yourself go."
Wanda took a deep breath, the heat she felt on her face had nothing to do with the sun of the morning or the effort she was doing to keep herself afloat.
"What should I do then?" She clenched her eyes shut when you chuckled, you heard the trembling in her voice tilting your head and swimming around without letting her go you face her.
"Are you alright?"  Wanda couldn’t look you in the eye, Scarlett stirred inside her trying to push forth but Wanda held onto her alter ego with a hard grip.
You narrowed your eyes at Wanda, your fingertips drawing circles on her skin trying to soothe her anxiousness though you didn’t understand too well why she was looking like this.
"Yeah, I just…" She started taking a deep breath. “Let’s just continue with the lesson, I’m just hungry.”
You furrowed your brows when Wanda turned around without looking at you, after a moment of hesitation you decided to just let it slide for a moment before continuing. Wanda from her part was having an internal fight with Scarlet, for a brief moment her green eyes turned completely red, a wicked smirk drawn on her lips just as she placed her hands on top of yours.
“Let me try something.” You blinked away confusedly, letting go just as Wanda tried to swim away.
“Wanda, wait…” You started truing to swim back to her when she went right under the water, her arms splashing around. “Shit!”
Your arms wrapped tightly around her midsection helping her out of the water, she gasped for air coughing a little holding onto you  while looking slightly scare and mad.
“Why did you let me go?” She exclaimed, and you leaned back surprised.
“You made me do it!”
Wanda clenched her jaw close, What the hell is wrong with you?
Stop pretending you don’t want her to keep holding you! You like the way she is touching you and you were doing nothing to make it last!
We almost drown!
Don’t be dramatic, we wouldn’t drawn with her so close by. Besides, I know what we were feeling…I know what you want, what we both want…
Wanda huffed looking away from you, Wanda tried to push away from you, the pink dust went from her neck to her face while she tried to ignore the voice in her head and the close proximity she was sharing with you. You furrowed your brows sensing a change in mood, though you pretend to notice while smiling at the young witch.
“Are you alright?” You finally asked tilting your head in concern.
Wanda shook her head concentrating on her movements while looking away from you. “Yes, I just…I think we should continue and reach the shore.”
With a short nod, you decided to do just that. There was something strange about this sudden change in Wanda but you didn’t want to jeopardize this moment with her. So, without much of a simple teasing here and there you started the lesson once more until after what seemed like hours the both of you reached the beach. Wanda walking away from you as soon as she could, the blush never leaving her face, and the ach in her body intensifying under your stare, and your touch.
______________________________________________________________
The island was a small portion of earth overlooking the open sea and the inland territory of Italy.
The sea surrounding the area was deep, and the sand on the beach was light-coloured with a velvety texture that caressed the naked skin on their feet. The vegetation grew around the coast with some rocky formations overseeing the sea and the small formation of land; the place had a particular aroma that reminded Wand of lavender and thyme, and the heat coming from the sun contrasted with the cold wind coming from the inland. The place itself only had space for an inn that was usually filled with tourist coming in with their boats, or from other places around the Riviera.
Since they were out of season, the place was almost empty but the beaches and the surrounding area was enough to keep them distracted while waiting for lunch time and then planning the trip back to Vernazza. Much like everything you had tried to show her so far, Wanda was quite enchanted by the experience, her smile never left her face and you enjoyed the sound of her voice and laughter.
“You seemed to be enjoying yourself.” Ajak sat right beside Wanda on the beach, her eyes were following your form on the water while Sprite was trying to push you down,
“I am.” Wanda replied distractedly, her cheeks dark red while her eyes completely glued to you.
Ajak snorted following her stare to where you were standing in your black bikini, arms crossed holding back your laughter with Sprite spluttering something out. Ajak raised her brows taking a long sip from her bottle of water, before speaking again.
“I can see you are having too much fun, why aren’t you there learning how to swim with Y/N?” Ajak couldn’t help the teasing tone on her voice, Wanda tensed lightly lowering her eyes and turning to Ajak.
“I…I...Sprite wanted to just spend time with her, and I…”
“You didn’t want to share.”
Ajak laughter filled the beach, you and Sprite turned around the see the older woman laughing with a very flustered Wanda trying to speak while gesturing with her hands. Sprite came closer to you, tilting her head while she followed your stare all the way to where Wanda was sitting.
“Did you talk to her?” Sprite came to you glancing back at Wanda then at you.
“I did.” You turned to Sprite going back into the water, enjoying the way the water swayed you away, your eyes focused on the sky right above your head.
“And? Did it go well?” Sprite then snort. “Of course, it went well! You two were eye-fucking one another as soon as you came to the shore.”
Her words made you turned sharply losing your concentration and taking a mouthful of sea water. You spluttered coughing and shaking your head, Sprite smirked waiting for you to stop the theatrics.
“What the hell, Sprite?!” You swam back shaking your head. “We were not…I mean, I wasn’t…”
“You were.” Sprite stated curtly. “I can’t blame you, though. That bikini she chose looks well on her, and you have always looked hot in yours. But seriously? After having such a serious talk? I think this is too fast, even for you.”
You gaped at the woman in front of you, blinking away your confusion before shaking your head.
“I’m going to ignore the very first part of that comment and proceed to answer your question.” Sprite snorted, and her smirk only grew at your reaction. “We did talk, and we cleared up somethings.”
“Like how much in love with her you are that you are about ready to give her children?”
Sprite didn’t see it coming, she just felt the pull at her feet and down she went with you glaring at the spot she had been in moments before, your eyes gleaming a bright gold. It took her a minute or two but soon you also felt a pull on your feet, two hands wrapping around you and pulling down.
Both of you came up at the same time, spitting water glaring at one another though Sprite saw with satisfaction as the red in your cheeks didn’t change. Your arms and feet kicking and waving to maintain yourself above the surface; Sprite lifted a single eyebrow waiting until you merely rolled your eyes.
“I didn’t tell her that, but we did clear up the things about my…longevity.” You shrugged looking away before setting your eyes again on Sprite. “We didn’t say more, just that. I just think one heavy conversation for day was enough.”
Sprite didn’t say much but her stare was enough to tell you she had her own opinions about the whole thing, you hesitated not knowing if you really wanted to know about the eye-fucking and the love confession she had mentioned.
“I haven’t seen you this happy since…forever.” Sprite spoke softly furrowing her brows, “I know there is something different this time around.”
“For starters, you actually like this one.” You chuckled when Sprite shrugged nodding.
“That’s a good beginning, yes.”
“I’m not sure when it happened.” You shrugged lowering your gaze, your mind went right away to the woman that was now talking with Ajak on the beach. “I just know that…it feels different with her.”
“I know it is, Y/N.” Sprite then hugged you tightly, you were quite shocked wrapping your arms around her before the young woman swam back. “You really look happy, and she is pretty lucky to have you.”
You chuckled swimming back and forth, “I am lucky to have her, you know? After getting to know her these last months, well I can tell you she is amazing.”
Sprite could see the tenderness in your stare, she could hear the warm in your voice and Sprite knew right there and then that you were just ready to give it your all to the other woman. A part of Sprite saddened at the thought, you and she had been partner’s in crime for such a long time that now that there was someone new in your life she hardly got to spend time with you. If things with Wanda went well, Sprite knew that at some point in the near future…you would not be with them anymore.
“I’m glad you find her, Y/N.” Sprite then bumped against you nodding towards the beach. “Let’s go back, I’m already hungry and I think it is time for you to take your girl to a nice stroll around the island.”
*****
“It doesn’t scare you?” Ajak leaned back on the chair analysing Wanda’s expression as the other woman concentrated on her answer.
“I do, some part of me does.” She answered putting her legs to her chest wrapping her arms around them. “But these last months, she has been everything I was hoping for and more. I don’t want to mess it up, I don’t want to be scared anymore.”
And that was the truth.
Wanda had been scared most of her life and having attached herself emotionally to those who created in her a sense of security had been her mistake. After Thanos, she had to learn to live alone, to face herself without anyone by her side telling her what to do or what should happen next in her life. You had been different, you had come into her life to be a nuisance at first, and then a friend that ended up being…everything.
“She has taught me I don’t have to be afraid. That I can be friends and still feel…this.” Wanda put a hand on her chest furrowing her brows at what she was saying.
Ajak softened her stare, she placed a single hand on the other woman’s shoulder while offering a tender smile.
“I’m glad you think this, Wanda.” Ajak leaned back turning her eyes to the sea where you and Sprite were just fooling around. “She deserves to be happy, and so do you.”
Wanda offered a tiny smile nodding; she straightened up turning to Ajak with a resolute stare in place.
“I’m not sure what’s going to happen now, you know? I’m still unsure about several things, and I think we still have one conversation pending but I just want to try it out.”
“Then, don’t waste your time here and go to her.” Ajak stood up nodding towards you and Sprite, both you already making your way to them. “Time it really is relative, and we must make the most of it if we really want to live to the max.”
The water rolled down your body, your hair fell down on your back completely drenched and your face wore a huge grin that made you look quite beautiful. It was a sight that Wanda had been too afraid to admit to herself, you were beautiful but more than that you were…
Sexy. Hot. You can choose the word you want to describe how incredibly attractive she is.
Wanda looked away trying to hide away the blush on her face, you chuckled lowly coming to her your arms brushing lightly on her arms. The young witch shivered, tilting her head until her green eyes found those of yours.
“You okay?” Your voice softened, and you couldn’t help but feel the speeding of your heart at the sight of Wanda.
“Yeah, just talking with Ajak and seeing how you two look like children.”
“And we also behave like them!” Sprite exclaimed proudly.
Ajak snorted wrapping an arm around her, “I don’t doubt it. So, you guys ready for something to eat?”
“Yes! I’m starve!”
“Then let’s go, you’re inviting today.” Ajak and Sprite went right ahead, you chuckled approaching the bag Ajak had brought with them putting on a white shirt and shorts.
You either make a move or I’m really going to take over and I won’t be held accountable for my actions.
Wanda was tempted to roll her eyes, Scarlet had proven to be quite impatient and demanding and Wanda was starting to understand the presence living inside her. The tug at her heart made her shivered, a burn in her abdomen stirred her legs into movement and soon she was right beside you, her arms around your hips helping you turned around so she could place a hard kiss on your lips.
You were caught off guard, the kiss was harsh at first but as soon as you let go and Wanda felt comfortable enough it changed. Your hands placed themselves around her hips putting her closer while she wrapped them around your neck tilting her head to let her tongue sneaked out to play with yours.
There was a low whimper, and Wanda’s knees gave up on her. You cut the kiss breathing hard, your eyes dark, while you held the other woman closed to you. Wanda had her eyes closed, shivering slightly before she hid her face on your neck, her lips curling into a content smile.
I don’t want to let go.
“Me neither.”
We have never felt this way, Wanda.
“We have.”
No, we haven’t. What we feel right now it’s different, I grant you that. But this…the way our hearts beat, the way our body feels, the way our magic pulsates…
“With Vision…”
The mind stone was the one creating that connection, that’s why we were able to bring him back. But Y/N is different.
“Hey, that was…” Your voice wavered a little, Wanda stepped back chuckling noticing with some satisfaction your flustered expression.
“I left you speechless?” Wanda’s playful tone was what made you shake your head and laugh.
The young witch offered a mischievous smile enjoying the reaction she got out of you. You lowered your gaze, tilting your head while offering your hand.
“Now, I wouldn’t mind a repeat performance, Principessa.”
“I bet you wouldn’t but this kind of things are usually one per day.” Wanda tried to keep her expression serious, her hand wrapping around yours tenderly.
“A one per day event?” You shook your head walking backwards bringing her with you. “Now, what would I have to do to make this an everyday occurrence? Better yet, a hundredth and a thousand more times during the day?”
Nothing, I’ll do it.
Wanda snorted shaking her head while following you with her lisp curled slightly and her eyes gleaming playfully.
“I’m not sure there is a right price for that.” Wanda tilted her head, pretending to be thinking hard on your questions.
You stopped all of a sudden, straightened up you stepped closer to her locking eyes with her.
“How about the promise of a lifetime with you? Would that be enough?” The sudden declaration caught the both of you off guard.
Your body tensed all of a sudden, and even if your face remained impassive your heart was hammering against your chest waiting for an answer. Wanda for her part was left speechless, even Scarlet stayed still under such revelation; the words were at the tip of her tongue but she dared not to say anything yet. Wanda wished she could speak and stop the flash of disappointment crossing your eyes, and the sudden sadness she saw reflected in your lips.
“You don’t have to answer, I know the price I’m ready to pay is far too high.” You cleared your throat leaning in to kiss Wanda’s cheeks. “Just, think about it, Wanda. Now, let’s go, I am starving!”
______________________________________________________________
Afternoon was already falling by the time the four of you made it back to the sailboat and took the currents back to Vernazza.
The rest of the day was spent with Ajak and Sprite closed by the conversation had flown naturally. There was an underlaying tension between you and Wanda, but it wasn’t uncomfortable, if anything it was expected. You didn’t let this deter you in your goal to make the young woman enjoyed the rest of the afternoon, so while taking her hand in yours you took her on a long stroll around the island sharing with her stories about the world and the past.
From time to time, Ajak and Sprite would intervene and Wanda soon found herself laughing at the absurdity of some of the stories and the people in it. You spoke about your family, the one that had saved you when you were but a teenager. Kingo and Gil, Ikaris and Druig and Makari; all of them were part of your history, and each one of them had given to you something to continue and made of yourself a better person.
It was such a nice feeling to finally shared with her the real you, the one that had lived far too long and experience far too many things that was now finding herself finally growing into her human years. And Wanda for her part found herself more enamoured by each word, by every story.
And as the time passed, and you and her continued spending time together Wanda found herself answering your questions in her mind.
Yes, for as long as we can be together.
The sailboat swayed through the waters allowing for the sight to be an enjoyable experience. You placed a jacket on Wanda’s shoulders sitting right beside her, the young woman smiled leaning in to rest her head on your shoulder.
“What do you think?”
“It’s beautiful. I have never…I mean, I haven’t had the time to really enjoy any of this.” She replied furrowing her brows, “I’ve been moving from one event to the other in my life, I have never stopped to contemplate what’s around me.”
You took a deep breath glancing just as the sun reflected on the water, the sky above your heads changing colours slowly, with some white dots already noticeable. The water trembled making the colours a mixture of yellow and red, orange and blue; the wind was blowing coldly announcing the oncoming winter.
“We don’t have the time to enjoy the world sometimes.” You shrugged glancing down at her. “Did you enjoy the day?”
“It was perfect.” She answered smiling softly. “I’m…I don’t know how to thank you for everything you have done for me, Y/N.”
“There is nothing to thank me for,” You lifted your face glancing at the sky then at the setting sun. “I just…I thought you may need a friend. Someone that was not a reminder of your life, or your past.”
Wanda nodded sitting up straight, “and you have been a good friend. More than that.”
You smiled sneaking your hand to intertwine your hand with hers.
“I’m glad I could help.” You lifted a hand to put her hair behind her ear, your heart shrank with emotion as she leaned in placing a peck on your lips.
“We’re almost there guys, are you staying with us or you’re going back to the hill?” Sprite commented sitting right beside you, Wanda chuckled hiding away her blush still getting used to them seeing the display of affection between the both of you.
“I’m not sure…you want to stay or shall we go back?” You asked Wanda who pressed her lips together.
Wanda…
The warning coming from Scarlet almost made her wince, Wanda shook her head looking away from you and Sprite.
“Natasha is coming over tomorrow, I just don’t want to miss her arrival and I’m not sure at what time is she coming.” She then turned to you and Sprite. “So, can we go back?”
“Sure, Principessa, we can.” You turned to Sprite who was smiling like a fool. “You heard the lady.”
“You guys are so smitten for one another, it’s really funny.”
Sprite stood up moving away from you before you could grab her, she laughed at the mortified expression on your face and Wanda’s one.
“Come here!” You exclaimed to the laughing Sprite, Wanda chuckled shrugging.
“Don’t you think she is right?” You raised your eyebrows turning to Wanda.
“Well, yeah, but she doesn’t have to rub it in our faces.”
Wanda snickered shaking her head, she claimed your attention by placing her head back on your shoulder, the rest of the trip the both of you just sat there enjoying one another. You completely content with the sight, and the woman in your arms. Wanda with a void at the pit of her abdomen, and a hammering heart that was threatening to leave her chest.
______________________________________________________________
Night had already fallen by the time the both of you arrived at the hill.
The moon was high in the sky, the stars shining brightly above your heads. It was a clear night accompanied by a cold breeze and a comfortable silence, both of you were beat by the days’ activities. The stroll and the sailing was something that left the both of you quite tired and ready for a night of sleep.
Wanda chewed on her lower lips, her body tingling strangely as you opened the door of the passenger side and offered a hand to her.
“You look really tired, Principessa, want me to help you out?” Your question was quite innocent, and your concern on her well-being was something that melt Wanda right away.
“No, I think…”
Wanda!
The young witch winced shaking her head, you furrowed your brows stepping closer to her. Wanda took a breath holding it back while you placed a hand on her cheek.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” She smiled weakly nodding.
“Yes, I just…” Wanda grabbed your hand cutting the distance between the both of you. Her kiss was soft, tentative and inviting.
You sighed into the motion, your hands cupping her cheeks tenderly.
“I have my answer.” Wanda whispered grabbing your hand in hers, she shifted nervously chewing on her lower lip again.
You blinked a couple of time puzzle, “your answer?”
Wanda nodded pulling you to her just as she started making her way towards your house, her eyes darker than you remember and her cheeks burning with the heat of her embarrassment and something else.
“I…I have never…” Wanda started huffing with frustration when she found herself incapable of completing a thought.
“Wanda…” You started already guessing what the other woman meant, what she was trying to do. And while an electric jolt of pure lust went from your brain down to your body to settled on your very core you were not about to give in if this was something Wanda was not ready for.
The young witch could read your thoughts, she shook her head putting her arms on your cheeks closing the distance once more. This time around her kiss was more demanding, hungry just as she pushed you to her.
“I have my answer.” She repeated pressing her back to the door, her lips caressing yours and her warm breath brushing on your skin. “It would be more than enough, I need you, Y/N I want you…I just…I want my lifetime with you too.”
Later on, when you would lay in bed you would ask yourself how it was possible you made it to your room. How you were able to open your door with Wanda clinging to you, your free arm wrapped tightly around her putting her closer to you. Or how you made it down the hall, chuckling as Wanda almost tripped down yelping while holding onto you. Or how she struggled to take her shoes off, while you laughed at her kneeling down and helping her out of the shoes before making her laid back on your bed.
Later on, when she was finally resting on you, you would wonder how you got so lucky.
But right now, you were just drowning in the sweet whimpers leaving Wanda’s mouth as your fingertips caressed her skin teasingly while you wrapped your lips around her hardened nipple. Her clothes and yours laid on the floor, and she was writhing in need under you, her lips parted and her eyes tightly close.
You smiled letting your tongue flickered around her hardened nub, your free hand dancing around her skin before settling two fingers on her unattended nipple.
“Y/N…” She whimpered again, and you growled loudly creating vibrations around her skin that went right through her core.
“You taste so delicious, Wanda.” Your lips started kissing and nibbling on her skin, traveling down to her very core, your hands and fingers kneading the skin you could reach learning the spots she enjoyed the most, the ones that made her jumped and let out a long moan.
“Y/N…” Your name leaving her lips was like a prayer, you lifted your head and almost came right there at the look she was giving you at the moment.
Pure an unaltered lust.
“I…I have never…” Wanda started and she felt like an idiot for stopping the moment.
You lifted your eyebrows in surprised, then your lips broke into a tender smile while your fingers continued their work around her skin travelling down her hips to her thighs separating them slowly so you could place yourself in between them. Wanda was shivering, her heartbeat increasing and her lips trembling in anticipation. You stopped tilting your head, your fingertips dancing around her naked skin brushing with enough pressure to make her trembled.
“Do you want me to?” Your voice was deep, with just the right amount of lust in there.
Wanda chewed on her lips, “Yes, please I just….Oh, fuck…”
You smiled taking her clit in your lips, your fingers caressing the skin around her pussy while your tongue sneaked out to lap at the wetness she had been producing ever since you two got to the hill. Wanda threw her head back, it was a new sensation that was making her weak, her whole body overdriven by the sudden wave of pleasure.
Her hand went to your head the moment your tongue poked her opening, she let out a low groan with your name rolling down her lips. Your fingers finding her clit just as you teased her opening with your tongue, your other hand making sure her hips stayed in place while you took full advantage of her.
Your constant teasing on her opening, along with the stimulation of her clit was enough to put Wanda over the edge. Her eyes rolled back just as she let out a groan, her body trembled under you and you couldn’t help but smile as you continued working around her pussy helping her ride out her orgasm.
“Y/N.”
Your name had never sounded so beautiful before, you kiss her inner thighs making sure to worship every single part of her body. She was still regulating her breathing, your hands and mouth mapping her whole while she wrapped her arms around you.
When you kissed her, she sighed contentedly smiling into the kiss while putting you to her.
“Hey.” You greeted softly, she snorted pushing you to the bed straddling you with a teasing smile on her lips.
“hey, yourself.” You were on your back, a single eyebrow lift while you felt her wet core on yours. She was straddling you slowly, her hands on your shoulders and she was looking wildly beautiful.
“So, are you alright?”
Your question made her laugh, and you smiled at the sight before Wanda leaned in kissing you hungrily. Her lips nibbled at yours, her hands moving down to your chests, while she continued thrusting her hips against yours. Your moans made her confident just as she let her lips nibbled down your jaw to your neck and ear.
“I…I’m more than okay, but now…” She whispered, never stopping her actions though soon you noticed her hesitation. “This is the first time I…”
“Well let me tell you you’re doing an amazing job.”
Once more Wanda laughed but this time around she pressed her forehead to yours, you help her down letting her leg wrapped itself around your hips while she laid on her side snuggling closer to you. She glanced at you curiously, you grabbed her hand asking without words if it was okay to continue.
“I want to make you feel good.” She stated swallowing down her nervousness.
“You already do, Wanda.” You leaned in kissing her tenderly, your hand lowering hers to where you needed it the most. “Can you feel how well you make me feel, Princess? This is all for you.”
Wanda groaned letting her fingers danced around your centre, gathering your wetness to rub your clit. Your hips jerked upward, cutting the kiss with a gasp as you closed your eyes. Wanda watched with fascination every single expression on your face, the gasp leaving your mouth and the crunched up of your nose whenever her fingers rubbed your clit the right way, or how you were getting closer to your climax.
“Wanda.” She opened her eyes in fascination, her finger probing your entrance at first, teasing you until your gripped on her tightened and she entered two fingers in a single thrust.
“Fuck, Wanda!”
She started moving her fingers in and out of you, your eyes clenched shut with your hips trying to follow up the movements of her fingers. Scarlet pressed forth, and Wanda smirked at the message, she leant in kissing your jaw, nibbing down your neck until she reached your pulse point, without thinking it to much she curled her fingers inside you while sucking on your neck. The stimulation was enough to make you shake, her name on your lips just as you let yourself go.
“Hey.” Wanda greeted you with a smile plastered on her face, you chuckled wrapping your arms around her putting her to you.
“Hey, yourself.”
Wanda rested her head on your shoulder, her arm wrapping around your midsection. You took a deep breath trying to regulate your breathing, and your hammering heart.
“I love you, Wanda.”
Your confession echoed in the room, just as Wanda closed her eyes falling asleep at the sound of your heart.

Chapter 8
The past
Night was already falling by the time you left the house.
The street was empty and silent, you turned left then right but Wanda was nowhere to be seen. Your fist clenched, you tried to understand what was happening but nothing in your thoughts indicate that something had gone wrong. Wanda had been crying in the bathroom, you knew that and then when she was back on the backstage, she was looking contemplative…afraid.
“Fuck.” You took a hand to your head thinking where she might had gone.
Why did everything have to be so damn complicated? What the hell did you do wrong?
It took you a couple of minutes before you decided to take the left street and go from there. Wanda didn’t know the place that well so she couldn’t be far away, right? With a look of determination crossing your face, you started making your way down the street looking around for any signs of the woman that had been in your mind far longer than you care to admit.
You thought the song would be appropriated for the moment she was living in, perhaps for what you were trying to offer to her. Being it friendship or something else, all you ever wanted was for Wanda to find peace and happiness; without a doubt you knew the harm behind grief and pain. You also knew the consequences of power, of wanting nothing else but power for the hell of it.
You never expected to feel so much in such a small amount of time for someone like Wanda. You never expected this would turn out the way it did, and here you were trying to chase after her to know what happened and why she decided to run.
The main street was filled with people enjoying the festivities, many of them were already making their way back to the shore and the harbour to enjoy the main event and the closing fireworks that promised to be quite the spectacle.
Your eyes swept around the multitude of people you barely recognize, your heart beating painfully hard against your chest until your eyes fell upon the familiar figure of Ajak. The woman straightened up only to find your eyes in the middle of the crowd, her brows came together in a gesture of concern noticing the anguish in your eyes.
“What happened?” She asked as soon as you got to her; you stood before Ajak with a lost stare shrugging.
“I’m not sure.” You put a hand on your head clenching your eyes close for a moment. “One minute I was singing there and the next…”
Ajak pressed her lips together looking around her, “I haven’t seen her.”
You dropped your shoulders in a sign of defeat, by now Wanda could be everywhere around the crowd and the town. She could even be making her way back to the house and you wouldn’t even know for sure. Ajak softened her features watching the myriad of emotions crossing your eyes, she ached to make everything easier for you and even Wanda, but it seemed as if this path was meant for you and her alone.
“There is a way for you to know where she is.” Ajak said tentatively shooting you a quick glance, you tensed glancing at the tattoos on your arms then back at her.
“There is a lot of people here.” Your voice drop, and it was cold with just a hint of fear there.
Ajak softened her features cupping your cheek in her hand, her smile was that of a comprehensive mother trying to teach their kid a valuable lesson.
“I know you have the control necessary to do this, you can go back to the house if you prefer to do so.” Ajak then redirected her eyes to the people walking around. “You have to decide really quick, the last event is about to start.”
You nodded curtly leaning in to wrap your arms around her.
“Thank you.”
Ajak watched as you took off running down the streets evading people left and right before going down the closest alleyway. Not for the very first time she wondered if you understood what was happening, if you were ready for what was to come. Ajak could only hope as you disappeared from view following a woman that had brought a new life into you.
______________________________________________________________
You ran fast until you saw the house out on the corner of the street, your car was still there and there wasn’t anyone around it. You entered the place enjoying the silence inside the hall, you looked around trying to get your heartbeat under control while you walked past the living room to the balcony facing the sea.
The house was empty, the streets below you were full of people and the lights coming from the ferries and the boats make a nice picture of festivities that many were just starting to enjoy again. You took a deep breath, the lines forming the patterns of your tattoos started burning lightly your eyelids fluttered closed while your lips parted slightly to whisper the words you knew by heart.
In a minute you saw everything clearly, those with special abilities amongst the people attending the event and those of Ajak and Sprite. It wasn’t that difficult to do so, you were looking for signatures of energy, something that was different as to how a normal human being would feel. Then your eyes open and the gold in them shone brightly as you changed the location spell into something specific.
The signature that was Wanda Maximoff was as unique as the woman herself.
It was red, which was not surprising, but there was also a glimpse of black you were familiar with. It was far away from the rest of the signatures, moving swiftly through a dirty road you knew well. You didn’t know how she found it, but it was obvious that her intention was to disappear; you went closer and then the red signature of Wanda stopped and turned around, you opened your eyes in surprise before breaking the link.
You knew where she was.
The road was empty and it was evident she had helped herself with her magic to move quickly and disappeared before you could catch up with her. Without wasting any more time, you turned around ready to chase after her when Sprite came from the hall.
"So, you're going after her?" The woman asked tilting her head, you nodded bouncing on your feet. Sprite smirked, putting your car keys from her pocket. "This way would be faster, you know?"
"When did you…?" You snorted, shaking your head. "Never mind, thank you."
"Y/N." You stopped a few meters ahead of her, tilting your head. Sprite bit her lower lip hesitating for a moment before speaking again. "Are you sure you want to do this?"
The question surprised you greatly, Sprite had been the one to pester you to do something about your growing attraction from the young woman. Then again, Sprite had always tried to be protective of you, she had always felt guilty for never coming forth and speak her mind against Eliza. They never liked each other that much.
"I am, Sprite." You turned to her waiting until Sprite turned back. "Do you like her?"
The young woman snorted, offering a half smile.
"I do, actually." Sprite shrugged playing with her foot. "She just needs to cut off the dark magic, and she would be perfect."
"Perfect, eh?" You smirked but Sprite returned your smirk with one of her own.
"Yeah, your children would be quite the catch."
She laughed pleased to see the burning blush on your cheeks at the comment. You sputtered before stepping back lifting a warning finger to her.
"You better keep that comment to yourself, or else…"
"We will see, you big goof. Now go after her, you're wasting time!"
"It's never a waste of time when it is you, Sprite."
Sprite rolled her eyes crossing her arms watching you run down the hall. Soon she was left alone in the house, a sigh left her lips before she decided to join Ajak. Tomorrow would be another day and then she would know if you were successful or not.
______________________________________________________________
The lyrics hit her more than she cared to admit.
She didn’t know what the first trigger was, your eyes on her the whole time. Or perhaps the passion with which you were singing every word, or was it the fact she and Scarlet Witch decided to pry inside your mind and what they found was overwhelming them.
She didn’t deserve it. She didn’t deserve you.
Why did we leave? You should stay!
“Why? So, she discovers the world we have been creating behind her back to go back to the love of our life!” Wanda all but screamed into the empty street.
She was breathing hard; tears were no longer rolling down her cheeks but her face was still wet. Everything around her was dark, and the voices were back whispering sweet promises pushing her to just use her powers to stop the pain.
Why are we scared?
Wanda wrapped her arms around herself, she had seen into your mind how you hoped to reach her out before it was too late. How you wished to wash away the darkness and the pain while giving her a spark of hope, that everything was going to be okay. Wanda couldn’t stop thinking about her family, about her parents and Pietro, about Vision…Westview. The unborn child.
Everything in her life had been so messed up, everything she had touched had died in some way or another. She had been so damage, she had tried to use her powers to build a fantasy world for her own pleasure. For her own pain.
We’re monsters. Monsters never get a happy ending. That’s why we need to create our own.
“How can I be happy with…how can she…” Wanda trailed off grimacing while walking down road. “We can’t.”
You’re a fool.
The world around her was silent, only the wind brushing against the trees and leaves brought a sweet melody to her ears. The young woman shook her head turning back to the road so she could run away from everything and everyone. Her mission had been clear the moment she heard the song, she needed to get out of that place, she needed to leave this town and she most certainly needed to leave your house and your presence.
Why are we running this time around?
You’re afraid. I´m not. Let me out and I can make it pretty clear for the both of us.
“Shut up!” Wanda said through gritted teeth, she clenched her eyes close putting her arms around herself. “Whatever make you think this is what we need or what we wanted, you’re wrong. All we need is there where no one can come in and hurt us, where no one can ever take away from us what…what we built, what we loved and loved us back.”
“So, you’re going back to the Darkhold?”
Wanda turned away startled; a wisp of red magic came out of her fingertips ready to attack the sneaky newcomer behind her. She gasped trying to stop her attack when she realized it was you behind her, you furrowed your brows and your eyes gleamed gold before her magic hit you straight on your chest sending you back against the closest tree. Wanda opened her eyes wide; terror gripped her heart when she realized what she had done, who she had hurt.
“God, Y/N!” Once more she was showing how much of a threat she was, how dangerous she could be. Wanda knelt before you, you groaned in pain blinking slowly while trying to shake away the stars on your eyes. “I’m sorry! God, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean…”
You grabbed her hand in yours, wincing before breaking into a content smile.
“I’m okay, this was nothing. You just caught me off guard.” You tilted your head watching the myriad of emotions crossing those green eyes. Then, as soon as you saw them, they went away and Wanda was lowering her gaze tensing completely.
You groaned while trying to stand up, the young woman stayed there on her knees taking deep breaths trying to control herself. Once more, the silence around the both of you became deafening, you had gotten to the road as soon as you could, the car taking you as far as the entrance of the town since the place had been packed.
The wind around you was cold, and the sound of celebration was no longer available. Not even the lights were visible from this part of the road.  You then faced the other woman that seemed to be dwelling in her misery at the moment.
“You never answer my question.” You said all of a sudden breaking the silence, Wanda furrowed her brows lifting her head to see you standing close to her a single hand stretched out for her.
“What?” She hesitated before taking your hand, the warm it provided made her shiver standing up until she was just mere centimetres away from you, your hand holding her in a comforting grip.
“Are you going back to the Darkhold?” You asked softly making sure there was not a single trace of accusation in your voice, only a tinge of confusion and sadness. “Why do you want to run away, Wanda?”
Wanda shook her head, “I’m not.”
“You are.” You replied dropping your shoulders, “you’re running away from this, and I have to wonder if it is because it is too much for you, or because you really crave a faux reality offered to you by a damn book. If you really…I mean If I’m the only one…”
Wanda clenched her jaw at your words, she let go of you stepping back trying to get a hold of her rampage emotions, the darkness that had always be her companion ignited inside her making her eyes shone a deep shade of red while her fingertips darkened slowly.
“What would you know of this? What would you know of what I need or what I want?” Wanda shook her head. “What would you know of what has been offered to me? What is even this? You and me…I’m not…”
“I know enough, Little Witch.” You replied tilting your head, you winced holding your head with your hand. Damn, you really hit hard there.
There was a flash of concern in those green eyes, Wanda stirred trying to go to you before she settled back to stand away from you. Why did it have to be so complicated?
You didn’t notice, did you? How does she know about the Darkhold? Her eyes…just before we hit her…Gold.
Wanda tensed under these revelations; she furrowed her brows turning to you while narrowing her eyes.
“How do you know about the Darkhold?” She asked with a tone between curiosity and warning. “Why were your eyes gold a moment ago?”
You opened your eyes in surprised, you thought she hadn’t noticed it but apparently you were wrong. The secrets you had kept so far were finally going to come out and you were not sure this was the place to reveal them. Wanda however didn’t seem willing to follow you or even move herself from where she was.
“How can I not know about the book you have been using since day one?” You replied shaking your head, “I knew you were hurt, and that bad things had happened to you, I just didn’t understand how bad until I started feeling the changes in you. In the house.”
Wanda furrowed her brows, tension building up on her chest when she made sense of what you were saying. If you knew about the Darkhold, then you knew what she was doing? Who were you?
Your lips broke into a crooked smile, “I promise you answers, and I guess this is the time for me to give them to you.”
The day had started so differently, it had been tensed but also a happy occurrence and you thought the end of the day would be a happy one. That, whatever it was happening between you and Wanda would progress but, it seemed as if it was not meant to be.
“Before you go let me…” You trailed off, looking away from Wanda. “Let me tell you my story, I mean that’s if you want to…”
Wanda was so tempted to say no, she was so tempted to just stepped back and leave. But her heart was aching painfully in her chest, and all she wanted to do was go over to you and feel you once more. You winced your knees buckling under your weight, Wanda was right there without thinking too much shooting you a concern stare you tried to ease with a smile.
“Damn, you really have a good punch on you, Principessa.” Wanda scowled at the nickname though her cheeks burn lightly at that.
“You startled me.”
“It wasn’t my intention, I just…” You shrugged standing up. “I couldn’t deal with the fact you wanted to go after I pour out my heart to you.”
The song, I told you she meant every word. Why is so difficult for you to believe it? Let me take care of this situation…let me talk to her.
Wanda shook her head, she glanced at you making sure you could stand before stepping back. You missed the contact but didn’t ask for more.
“I couldn’t stay.” Wanda mumbled, looking away from you.
Then, without a warning she continued her previous stroll her arms tightly wrapped around herself in a gesture you had come to identify as self-comforting. You put your hands in your pockets and decided to go after her; the night was dark, the only light coming from the moon and the stars. There was not a single sound, in this part of the road the town was no longer visible and thus sound was almost non-existent.
“You have a bad habit of answering questions with your own questions, you know that, right?” You asked behind her, Wanda pressed her lips together for a moment before tilting her head to look behind her.
“Why do you care so much?” There was defiance in her voice, she didn’t expect you to answer but to back away from your questioning even though she herself had many questions about the situation at hand.
“You can’t guess?”
Wanda faltered in her footsteps but didn’t say anything else, she just kept on walking trying her hardest to ignore you. This was really absurd, you hoped to catch up with her and get into a real conversation with Wanda, but it was quite evident this wouldn’t happen anytime soon. Or at least not at the rhythm things were going.
She is still following us.
“I know.”
We should talk to her instead of running away.
“I can’t.”
Why are you so afraid?
“Why aren’t you? I thought you above all was the one most interest in going back to him?”
Scarlet scoffed at the last part; she poked inside Wanda’s mind pressing harder until there were no more barriers in Wanda’s mind. It was only the both of them.
You forget that I am a projection of you, whatever I feel it is what you feel…so, tell me, when did you stop feeling for Vision what you are feeling for her? Better yet, why does it feel different?
“My feelings have not changed.” Wanda tried to deny what she was being told, she tried to turn it around but her alter ego would not have it.
You’re right, they have not changed. They have matured, a part of us will always love Vision for what he taught us. But…
“Please, don’t.”
Stop being a coward! Stop running away! What’s the worst that could happen?
By then Wanda was crying again and she hated her own weakness, she hated how much she felt and yet how incapable she was of expressing it. She found herself once more afraid of what could happen, that she was the harbinger of disaster for the people she cared for. The people she loved.
Warm engulfed her form a moment; she felt a light shirt on her covering her warms while also brining the comfort of human contact by the pair of arms that wrapped around her. Wanda hated just how weak she really was, how she craved the touch you were providing at the moment. She hated she couldn’t stop the tears and the fact the meaning behind them had changed.
She no longer cried for her past, or for what she lost.
She was crying for what she had in front of her, and for what she thought it couldn’t be.
“Come, I think a hot cup of chocolate would improve this night. We can use my room to watch the fireworks, they will start in a few minutes.”
“Why are you so good to me?” She whispered leaning into your embrace as the both of you made your way up the road, by now you can see the side road leading to your home.
“Can’t you guess?” You answered again without looking at her, out of the corner of her eyes Wanda could see the smirk adorning your lips.
She snorted shaking her head, “You have a bad habit of answering questions with your own questions, you know that, right?”
You chuckled lowering your gaze for a moment.
“Touché.”
Wanda stood in the hall for a moment, she enjoyed the darkness covering the place while her ears caught up with the sound of you working around in the kitchen. She wrapped your shirt tightly around her; her heart was beating out of control while waiting to see what would happen. Whatever plans she had formed, whatever decision she had taken of running away and just never looking back where merely put into a halt as she found herself in front of you.
You’re too easy.
“You want to come too, so shut up.”
“Are you going to stand there all night?” You held back a smile, on your hands there were two hot cups of chocolate.
Wanda shook her head approaching you, her trembling hand grabbed the offering mug without looking at you.
“Thank you.” She all but whisper, you hummed before turning around the place, the only light on was still the one from the kitchen. The night outside was cloudless and the sight of the moon and the stars was just breath-taking.
“We can watch the fireworks, if you want.” You mumbled lightly looking everywhere but at her.
Wanda couldn’t help the smile on her lips, “eager to take me to your room?”
You opened your eyes wide turning sharply towards Wanda, the woman was smiling amusedly at you and while there was tension growing in between the both of you she was trying to just return the conversation into something familiar.
“Eager to be there?” You retorted, but Wanda just shrugged shaking her head.
“I was supposed to be here alone, to leave without you coming all the way to follow me.” She finally said taking a long sip from her mug.
“I know.”
And if there was something you didn't want was to force Wanda into something she didn't want. You had seen her evolution since arriving at the house, you had seen a side of her you never thought existed. And you were falling in love with that side. With every single side of the woman standing before you
The realisation hit you straight in the chest, your heart ached at the thought of the younger woman entertaining the same feelings for you. How many promises had you broken in the last couple of months? All for Wanda. All for you.
"I won't force you to stay, Wanda." You whispered, tenderness tainting every word. "I know what you have suffered, what you have lost. I meant every word, Wanda. I wasn't sure how to make you understand and…"
You thought the festival would be a great opportunity. Wanda didn't say anything nor did she move her eyes glancing at a spot far away from you. You had already said too much, and even though the song Wanda had interpreted said a lot about the young woman's feelings it hadn't been as direct as the one that you had dedicated. Your heart was out there, it was time for Wanda to decide what she wanted. Sooner or later, she was bound to do it.
"I want you to stay, but I understand if you leave." With a last smile shot her way you stepped back from her. "It's your decision."
You turned around leaving her alone in the darkened living room. The voices that had always tormented her were whispering sweet promises again, flashes of her desires and her dreams went through her mind entrancing her into a need that only them could satiate.
Wanda knew everything was a trick, she had known so since the very first moment her hand closed around the book. But she also knew she was capable of creating reality, she just needed to learn how to do it. The young woman remembered the afternoon she had spent by your side hearing music and enjoying the absurdity that was a karaoke bar. The smiles, the subtle touches, the whispered words…
With some hesitation still growing in her heart, Wanda grabbed the mug tightly between her hands and made her way down the same hall you had disappeared into moments ago.
_____
You had always liked the sight from your bedroom. The world spread before you in a silent invitation to venture out there, at some point you had loved traveling around the world getting to know new people and experienced new adventures. You stopped doing it after Eliza, but it didn't that from time to time you didn't think about it.
The world you had forgotten for so long.
You felt more than you saw the young woman sitting beside you. She sat closed by, closer than was probably necessary and the warm coming from her was comforting, familiar.
With a deep breath you let go of the barriers and your eyes gleamed gold reflecting on the glass of the window.
Wanda frowned at the sight, she felt a tug in her mind, a glimpse of a memory that was not quite hers. Scarlet had seen those eyes before, your lips cracked a bitter smile before words she did not recognize filled your mind.
The tattoos on your arms gleamed for a moment until they were burning in your skin. Wanda turned sharply, her hand hovering above your forearm unsure if she could touch you or not until you grabbed her hand in yours. There was a spark of golden and red and soon Wanda got a glimpse of a memory.
A painful one.
A young child, naked tied to a chair crying for parents that never came. A woman, Dark-haired and old, cutting the ties. Blood and death and then… gold. Bright as the sun.
A teenager standing in the middle of a valley, dead bodies around her with those same gold eyes and a cold smirk on her lips.
Wanda recognized that valley, the same one you had taken a picture on. The one you had on the wall in the hall.
“You…” Wanda started but you closed off the link, your fingertips caressing tenderly the dark skin on Wanda’s hand.
“I was born a witch.” You all but whispered. “It was an age in which that was not very welcoming, my parents tried to… torture the powers out of me. The coven saved me, and I repaired them the favour until I almost lost my soul."
The world around her shifted strangely, she felt dizzy trying to process what you just told her. A witch. Magic was real, that much Wanda knew, but it wasn't until recently that she was made aware of groups, covens, that deal with the reality of these powers. When her eyes met with yours, Wanda knew you were not lying but then…
"If you're a witch then, you have known all this time." Wanda trailed off knowing that perhaps you had sensed it, you can feel it… your meeting with Scarlet was no mere chance.
"From day one." You shrugged facing the young woman with some understanding in your features. "You're powerful, but inexperienced. Or you thought that since there was nothing extraordinary in me you didn't need to hide. Either way, it was quite obvious something was at work in the house."
Wanda took her hand away from you, confused by this revelation with hurt written over her face. If you had known all this time, had you befriended her because of it? Did you approach her for fear of what she was doing? Did you… were you interested in her or her powers?
You sighed keeping your eyes on her, it was the moment of truth. You would tell Wanda what you hadn't said to anyone else before her.
"I know you have been hearing voices, Wanda. The promises of a future just the way you wanted it." You spoke softly, there was a heavy weight behind your words as if you had been carrying with this for far too long. "If that's what you want, if it is truly what you desire… I offer you my help."
Here Wanda lifted her face sharply, her eyes narrowing at you and your words. Were you serious? You offered a sad smile, looking away from her.
"But I know what those voices are, what they really meant. It will never be enough. They will always ask for more."
You trailed off in here, your eyes locking with those of Wanda. What could you say to her that wouldn’t push her away from you? What could possibly be said to her that wouldn’t scare her off?
“Is it really what you want? Do you really want to go? To live there… with him?" You inquired your voice just above a whisper.
No, I don’t know, we don’t know anymore…
And that was the truth.
Wanda didn’t know anymore; Vision and Westview were a safe bet. It was something she knew already; it was something she could control and had been working on for quite a while now. Letting herself love again to love someone new could be…it could destroy her all over again. Whenever she tried to get closer to someone they usually left or died or…God, what was she doing?
She never noticed the tears in her eyes until her vision became blurry and a sob left her lips.  Why was she such a wimp, why couldn’t she just get a break and stop feeling for a moment?
You didn’t know what impulse you to do so, but soon your arms were wrapping around her and she was returning your embrace. Her sobs made her trembled, her arms tight around you while she tried to make sense of every single emotion and thought crossing her soul at that very moment. You held her comfortingly, brushing her hair with your right hand while your left one made soothing circles on her back.
“I don’t know…I just don’t know.” She finally mumbled, and while Wanda seemed to be suffering for not knowing, you were suffering for knowing too much.
“Hey, I know I sing horrible, but…you didn’t need to go.” You heard her snort of laughter mixed with her sobs; your lips curled slightly leaning back a little to look at her. You help her wipe the tears on her cheeks, cupping her cheeks in your hands.
Wanda gasped, closing her eyes, you leaned in, placing a kiss on her forehead.
"You don't need to know right now, Wanda." You were about to let go but the young woman tightened her grip on you indicating she didn't want you to stop holding her. You shift to fit her comfortably on your side before speaking again. “I think I owed you some explanations and I did promise you answers, didn’t I?”
“You did, yes.” Wanda waited for a moment, then with a push from her mind and an involuntary movement she grabbed your hand.
There is not time to think about this, just…do it.
Her alter ego was really the impatient type, Wanda lifted her face waiting for you to do or say something. You nodded curtly, squeezing the hand tenderly before settling your eyes on the window.
“Does Natasha know?” Wanda asked all of a sudden, you furrowed your brows nodding curtly.
“She does. One day, she was badly injured.” You lowered your gaze to the ocean, out of the corner of your eyes you could see the lights from the festivities, the forms were blurry and undefined but you could imagine the sound of music and cheers surrounding the valley.
“She was bleeding badly, and I had to stop the bleeding before I got help. So I had to use my abilities.” You purse your lips looking at the sky, “my magic is not for healing, if anything, it is meant to hurt. To destroy.”
The way you spoke of your abilities shocked Wanda, she opened her eyes glancing at you for a long time before you gave in and returned her stare.
“My magic…comes from the core of a living being.” You stretched your arm showing the white tattoos that soon start gleaming softly. “For simple spells I can use my life force, the way everyone does. The core of my magic allows it, but whenever I try to focus on something bigger, powerful…”
You trailed off lowering your arm while offering a bitter smile to Wanda.
“Let’s say that my magic draws that core from whatever being is nearby.” You sighed shrugging. “That day I saved her life, and she asked about it. She even tried to recruit me to the Avengers initiative, saying my help was necessary and would be appreciated. I declined, of course. I was not hero material. I have never been one.”
There was so much pain behind your words, it was not only the bitterness behind the meaning of your abilities but of something else. You clenched your fists close when those eyes of the woman sitting beside you pierced through your mind, you refused to let her see more than what she should and before you could say something she started talking.
“I destroyed a building filled with people.” Wanda sounded miserable under the weight of her memories; she lifted her hands to played with the whisps of magic in her fingertips. “Many called me monster. They are right, of course. I destroyed many lives, including Vision’s.”
“You’re not a monster, Wanda.” You felt like a hypocrite telling her this, for more than a few decades you felt like one, and it wasn’t until you met Ajak and the others that you found your way trying to correct your path.
In a way, your paths had not been that different.
When you turned to face Wanda the young woman had her eyes on you, she was tired of running yet she just was afraid to face whatever was happening in here. It was easier to go back to what she knew instead of trying for something totally different, something that could bring a new wave of pain, disappointment, and regret.
“I enslaved a whole town; I manipulated their minds and almost destroyed a full squad of agents that tried to take away from me the fantasy world I have created.” Wanda said wryly. “I think that counts as monstrous acts.”
“It counts as mistakes, Wanda, not a monstruous acts.” You sighed leaning in grabbing her hands in yours. “I know you weren’t aware of what you did, your magic is so…natural. It’s raw power wanting to go out but not knowing how, you grew up with this in you but no one to teach you how to use it.”
Wanda scowled at your words; they sounded familiar.
Agatha had said something similar to her, how she was supposed to be a witch that never had the right instruction. You brushed your fingertips against hers, speaking softly with a hint of memory in your tone.
“You have been using a very dangerous book, the Darkhold holds a cursed in itself that little by little corrupts its owner.”
You could sense the tension coming from Wanda, she tried to pull her hands away from you, but you stopped her tenderly grabbing her hands in yours. When you lifted your eyes, you found fear in those green eyes, then they changed into a deep red to finally combine both colours in them.
“How do you know?” She all but whispered.
“You heard the voices, right? It’s not only Scarlet in there, but also a group of voices that invite you over to try out the spells, to seek what you desire…the promises of giving you what you lost.” Your lips broke into a crooked smile. “I’ve heard everything in the past. It never ends well.”
Wanda should be surprised by what you had revealed, but Scarlet had already mentioned their encounter and she had suspected there was something strange about you. The voices where still there inside her mind, they were usually louder at nights or during her dreams, they were almost impossible to ignore when she was desperate or sad or the overwhelming feeling of emptiness and loneliness crawled inside her heart.
“Have you heard them? The voices?” Wanda asked looking at your hands and hers, “have you ever wanted something so much that you…gave in them? Have you ever wanted something so much you would do anything to get it?”
There was a hint of desperation in Wanda’s voice, of defeated in regards to her own emotions and her own experienced as of late. You stopped the movements of your hands freezing for a moment, the sound of muffled music filled the cliff and the waves hitting the shore brought soothing sound through your ears. You heard the voices once; it hadn’t been nice.
“I have. Twice in my life I have heard the voices, and twice I was saved from a certain death by my family. The one that adopted me. The ones you had already met.”
You sighed looking away knowing Wanda was looking at you. This part of you was something only Ajak, Sprite and the others knew by heart. They had been there when you were left for dead, they had saved you and you owed them more than anyone would ever know.
"My coven was in a silent war with non-magical beings and other covens." You started narrating, centring your attention on the stars. "I was taught to use my ability so, whenever things went bad I was the secret weapon."
"What did you do?" Wanda had not completely understood your powers. But the expression on your face told her it was bad.
"I stole the lives of some, to destroy others." Your voice quivered, letting go of Wanda's hand. "I used to hear their voices, hunting me, mocking me, blaming me… I thought my time had come after a fight that destroyed my coven. I was left for death and then… Ajak and the others came saving me when they didn't need to."
There was something strange in your story, though Wanda was not sure what it was. She waited enthralled by the story telling, by the images projected by your mind that she was completely sure you sent for her to see.
"Do you still hear them?"
You blinked a couple of times shaking your head, "no, it took some time but I forgive myself for what I have done and… I stopped hearing them."
Silence settled between the both of you, Wanda finished her chocolate while looking at the far away lights igniting the sea. Wanda let her eyes wander around until they settled in the same stars you were watching at the moment.
"You said there were two times in your life…"
You snorted, tilting your head to shoot Wanda an amused stare. Wanda lowered her gaze rather embarrassed; it was obvious she wasn't only curious but was eager to know more about you. There was a part of her that had always felt curious about you, about your past…
If there is someone in her life…if there is a chance.
“There was a woman, her name was Eliza.”
Wanda shifted on her spot; she wasn’t liking the tone you used to refer to this woman. Yet she couldn’t help but listened to the story.
“We met in Germany; at that time the country was not having the best of times.” You winced trying to explain the situation to Wanda without being specific about the age, or the decade that happened. “We kind of hit it off at the very beginning, she was beautiful, smart, funny…and I fell in love with her.”
Wanda clenched her jaw already hating the story, she tried to put her hands away, but you intertwined your hands with hers squeezing tenderly while showing her this story did not have a happy ending. Wanda struggled for a moment before giving in, she was taken aback when two tears rolled down your cheeks. It wasn’t sadness. It was regret.
“She was a witch too, and it was incredible. I didn’t need to hide myself from her so, we could work around our own magic, be ourselves.” Your lips broke into a bitter grimace. “The first time I heard those voices was subtle, it was like a sweet invitation to do something I thought I wanted. It was a planted dream, a planted desire. I didn’t notice anything at that point, I have given my heart to Eliza the way I had never done so before so I never doubt her.”
Wanda frowned looking away from you, she remembered of all the times she had used her ability to manipulate the minds of others. To create the illusion or bend their wills to her own. You sighed shrugging.
“Of course, as time goes by, the voices become louder insistent…darker.” Wanda could hear the anger filling your voice, but behind that anger there was an underlying sadness. She hated seeing you like this, and she wished she could do something about the memories.
“It became part of who I was, I was in love with her thus even if I heard thoughts that were not totally mine I will comply if only to see her happy. To see her smile.” You shifted on the spot having forgotten about many of these things, and then all of a sudden remembering them as if it had happened the day before.
You know who she is, don’t you? You know how familiar that sounded?
Wanda didn’t need to say anything to know how familiar that sounded, and she certainly knew who you were referring to.
“She is the one in the picture, isn’t she?” Wanda asked all of a sudden, you nodded curtly looking away from Wanda.
“That day…Egypt had been a personal dream of mine.” You broke into a smile, tenderness filling your eyes for a moment. “I had planned it several times, but there was always something happening that prevent me from doing it. Then, she gets to our flat back in London with two first class tickets to Egypt I was beyond happy. I was…”
Wanda could see the many emotions crossing your face, and without thinking she moved closer to you her free hand cupping your cheek making you looked back at her.
“I was an idiot. I should have seen it, the signs were there, I just ignored them.”
“What happened?” Wanda all but whispered her question, you leaned into her touch before continuing.
“I wanted to visit the museum, she was tired and encourage me to go.” You shrugged, “I said why not? I knew she thought those places to be boring, so I went out and took a couple of hours. When I was back she was in the room, with someone else. They were…fucking rather loudly.”
You leaned back finally cutting off the contact you had with Wanda to just focused on the world outside your window.
“I couldn’t even talk when something hit me and I knew no more.”
“Was there someone else in the room?” Wanda asked worriedly, if she hadn’t liked the beginning of the story she was liking this even less.
“No, actually it was a spell.” You replied pressing your lips together. “I woke up tied up, naked with Eliza near me and my body bleeding from cuts she had placed strategically around my body.”
“Y/N…” Wanda was looking horrified, and with each detail you knew she was going to be even more impressed.
“Long story short, the voices had been an enchantment she had worked with for some time,” You shrugged again, giving Wanda a tired glance. “I never noticed it, I was just…”
“…in love.” Wanda said and the words taste foul on her tongue.
Her tone of voice surprised her; she sounded bitter and her face was wearing an expression between a grimace and sadness that she wanted to deny but knew this was impossible. Wanda couldn’t help but wonder if you were still in love with Eliza, if you were…were you mourning that love still? It was kind of hypocritical from her part to even think these questions, she had come all the way from New York to heal a past lover. To try and go back to him, yet she couldn’t help but wonder if perhaps…did she stand a chance with you?
“Yeah, it was stupid.” You snorted continuing. “She was part of a coven that had been on a blood feud with mine, she heard about me and thus decided to do a transfer of powers.”
“What do you mean?”
You straightened up remembering that Wanda had never had the proper education on this.
“It’s when a witch or wizard, or even a sorcerer tries to transfer the powers of another magical being to them.” You tried to explain it in a simple way. “But this usually ends up with the initial donor’s dead. You cannot live without magic; it is part of you. So…she was meant to kill me.”
Wanda felt rage building up in her, her eyes gleaming a dangerous red just as the Scarlet Witch stirred inside of her. Why would anyone try to do something so vile? Why would anyone try to do something like that to you? If Wanda could…
But we can…Wanda, you need to decide, or I’ll will free myself from you and take what I want. Look at her…
And Wanda did, she looked at you and saw the suffering behind your eyes. The story brough to you memories you longed to forget, yet when you lifted your face to glance at her all Wanda could see was tenderness. She was still afraid to see beyond that.
“Egypt had a temple perfect for the ritual, she almost succeeded if it hadn’t been for Thena and Sersi and the others.” You explained, shrugging lifting your arms. “My tattoos they weren’t with me until recently. My core had been damage, and for me to recover I need a new source of power. At least until everything went back to normal. I was taken to Kamar Taj; in there I was helped by the Supreme Sorcerer.”
“You mean, Wong?” Wanda blinked confusedly; you shook your head.
“No, he wasn’t the Supreme at that time.” You tried to ignite the tattoos on your arms showing the different patterns. “This helps me a little, it allows me to control how I used my magic without…dying. I was given a gift not many have, and not many can take so...”
Wanda winced at your sheer honestly, she let her fingertips caressed the patterns until your hands followed hers.
“Your blackened fingertips, I saw them in her too.” You whispered. “Corruption.”
Wanda’s lips quivered; she was about to speak when you continued drawing patterns on her hands.
“Do you still love her?” She blurted out all of a sudden, you blinked away in confusion. “I mean, you don’t have to answer of course it’s just…”
“Do you still love Vision?” That was a low moved and you knew it, Wanda tensed slightly scowling at you before looking away.
“Vision was…my everything. He was my first friend, my first lover, my first…regret.” Wanda clenched her fist tight. “A part of me would always love him but…I…”
“Eliza was my first love too; she was my everything at some point…but she…” You trailed off looking at Wanda deep into her green eyes. “She wasn’t the love of my life. I’m starting to think that what I feel for her was puppy love and…that…what I’m experiencing right now it’s something totally different.”
Wasn’t he the love of our life?
“Was he?”
He was all we knew. And now that we’re getting to experience something different, something…
“I’m not sure what it is happening, yet.” Wanda mumbled, and you just smiled at her.
“Good, I thought I was the only confused one in here.” You straightened up turned around to see the lights of the reflectors in the distance. “Now you know my deep secret, Principessa, I’m a witch, I fell in love with the wrong person and now I’m just trying to…live.”
There was a moment of contemplative silence, Wanda seemed to be deep in thought pondering what to say. It was quite evident you had shared something not many knew about you. Something you had kept secret for far too long, Wanda couldn't help but feel she was missing something important, something vital about your story. She could hear the chuckles from Scarlet, her amusement washing over Wanda's mind though the young witch couldn’t understand why.
After a moment, Wanda decided to tell you everything as well.
"I got the idea of the Darkhold after confronting Agatha." She clocked her head remembering how she went right inside the other witch's home and stole not before breaking the protective spells Agatha had placed around her house.
"It spoke about a prophecy, about the Scarlet Witch." You stirred for a moment glancing at the reflection of Wanda and the familiar shadow lurking right behind her. "If I had such power, and I did it unconsciously then with some training and help I could build something resistant, something permanent and impenetrable."
Wanda remembered those first days back in New York, how she would get interrupted every five minutes. How desperate she was getting to finally have some alone time with the book and the Astral projection of herself. A part of her had been mad about the vacation proposal because she knew it was a way to get rid of her. She knew what she had done had created troubles the Avengers were not ready to deal with, yet they did and one of the conditions was, Wanda needed to go.
"When I got here I started really working on the book, and the spells. It was all consuming the words and the invitation, I felt the power rush through my veins and building what I wanted became second nature." Wanda glanced at her hands and those blackened fingertips, the corruption that ran through Agatha and was now trying to take over her. "I felt the corruption, but I was just… alone. So alone. I have nothing, I have no one. And I thought about this world, Vision…"
Here Wanda trailed off hesitating while trying to get the right words, to organise her thoughts. She had felt so lost at the very beginning, she really thought there was nothing for her in this reality, that she would always be alone. And then… everything changed.
"Then, along the way, something changed." Wanda dropped her head, her voice above a whisper. "I changed and… everything was different, my need for the Darkhold became sporadic, I didn't need to look for the book to feel good, to actually get a glimpse of what I want,  what I need…"
Now we only need to be near N/Y for the voices to disappear, she is all we can think of…
God, Scarlet was so embarrassing sometimes, Wanda held back her mortification and the sheer honesty behind her alter ego’s part.
“Now, it’s not as often as before, you have been distracted.”
Your comment was meant to complement her explanation, but the way her cheeks burnt at your words made you wonder if perhaps there was something else you were missing.
“Yes, as of late something else…someone else has been in my mind.” Wanda whispered for you to hear. “I’ve been having second thoughts about everything, feeling guilty for forgetting about Vision and the mission while enjoying this newfound normality in me.”
“That’s foolish, you can’t feel guilty for wanting to continue with your life, Wanda. Grief is necessary but we cannot stay there forever.” You had learnt that the hard way, grief would only lead to depression and loneliness and a place so dark that could consume you completely.
Wanda shrugged looking away into the darkened sky above your head, the start twinkling merrily while forming patterns not many could name.
“I think it’s more complicated than that.” She continued; you furrowed your brows waiting for a deeper explanation. “I feel guilty, I promised Vision we’re going to be together forever but…things changed. And I’m not sure when they did, but they did and now I just…”
Wanda trailed off when an explosion resounded all through the Riviera and the sky ignited with flowers of colours decorating the sky. The fireworks had begun and they were breaking into the sky, you turned your head and they were reflecting in green eyes that were watching in awe the sky, Wanda’s lips curled in a tender smile and you found yourself spellbound to her.
“They’re beautiful.” She whispered, and you smiled watching her. Only her.
“Yes, they are.”
Wanda furrowed her brows lowering her gaze to find yours, the lights coming from the fireworks lit the land around you. Wanda could no look away and you found yourself in the same position.
“How did things change, Wanda?” You asked, the young woman tensed looking away from you. You leaned in putting two fingers under her chin, you turned her tenderly to you and asked again. “How did they change?”
“I…” Wanda hesitated, and she could hear the grunt of frustration coming from Scarlet.
“I can tell you how my life had changed, I never thought I would experience this again.” You chuckled nervously. “I never thought I would find someone that would occupy my mind 24/7 and that would…someone I want to make happy. To see her smile. Even if it is not with me. So, tell me how things change for you and…and if it is between my power, I will help you get the world you want to live in peace, happy with the one you love.”
Your breath caught in your throat when her lips finally made contact with yours. It was a timid brushing of lips, an electric jolt went right through your lips all through your body, your lips parting slightly until you were nibbling on Wanda’s lower lip, your hand on the nape of her neck and her hands on your cheeks. Your lips were warm against hers; it was an innocent touch filled with electric jolts that warm up your chest and made your smooth flipped in anticipation; Wanda sighed partying her lips while tilting her head to the side submitting herself to your guidance. It was a slow danced filled with real-life fireworks happening just outside the window.
You two kissed until the lack of air made you break apart panting, trying to catch your breath while keeping Wanda closed to you. When your eyes opened she was looking at you with such a tenderness and adoration, you were afraid to speak and reveal more than you probably should. So you leaned in and kissed her again.

Chapter 9
Tentative
The ray of sun sneaking through the windows touched her face teasingly.
She tried to put her bed covers above her head but the only thing she had was a single sheet, and the warm of the morning and the clothes she was still wearing finally made her opened her eyes.
The sight that greeted her was breath-taking. The blue of the sea mixed up with the clear blue of the sky, there were a couple of white clouds gliding around but it never messed with the light of the morning that made the green and the brown and the whole scenery a something that came out of a painting.
She stirred in the unknown bed with her lips tugging upwards, an ached in her heart that told her she liked the comfort of waking up in your bed. It didn’t take long for the memories of the night before to come forth, the closeness the both of you share alongside the conversation was something Wanda found craving your words, your smile…your lips.
The kiss had caught her off guard, even though it was her the one to initiate it. It wasn’t meant to be a kiss, in all honestly, she only wanted to be close to you to show you what she was starting to feel for you.
What we really feel for her. We weren’t supposed to kiss her yet I need you to go out there and repeat it.
Wanda turned around until she was resting on her back, a hand on her eyes while the heat on her cheeks rose. She did want to repeat it, but something in her mind stirred with uneasiness at the very same memory and everything that was said the night before. The love of your life, Wanda wanting to leave because this was too much, the night itself…
God, you had ended the kiss too fast and then everything was a complete blurry and the only thing Wanda remembered was falling asleep and you tugging her in before placing a soft kiss on her forehead. You didn’t stay, and Wanda wondered if perhaps you thought everything had been a mistake.
We think too much.
“You’re thinking the same, what if she regrets it… what if…”
The sound coming from outside the room brought Wanda back to the reality, she turned towards the door biting her lower lip. What would happen once she left your room? Your bed? Wanda was not sure where exactly you had spent the night before but it was quite clear it hadn’t been with her.
You were waiting for sex, weren’t you?
Wanda groaned, hiding under the thin sheet you had put on her the night before.
No, she wasn't thinking about the sex, though she would be lying if she said the thought didn't cross her mind. Wanda was merely thinking the night before had been completely different to what she expected, and while the kiss she shared with you had been amazing and the moment she spent in your arms afterwards was everything she was hoping for, she was still left wondering what would happen now. There was no more hesitation, nor any dancing around one another, but the night had not given them more heavy conversations instead of that it brought a peace Wanda thought would never be possible again.
We should stop stalling and go over there, I know you want to see her.
“You want to see her too.”
I have never denied what my heart desires, Wanda.
It was the truth.
The Scarlet Witch had been born out of the need Wanda had to protect what she loved, and she had stayed and become a part of her to train her powers and become what she was destined to become. Along the way, the only one that was honest enough to admit something was happening, that something was changing was Scarlet and Wanda had been trying to ignore her alter ego for as long as she could.
Until last night.
There was some more noise, and soon Wanda caught the smell of recently made pancakes and coffee. She couldn’t help the smile forming on her lips, the flip of her heart was all she needed to know she was anxious to meet with you after the night before. With a sigh, she turned around and sat up.
The clothes she had worn the night before were still on, though her shoes and sock had been placed neatly beside the bed. You had made sure she was completely comfortable on the bed, a single sheet on her and a kiss on her forehead; it had been so long since she was tugged to bed and had such a good night’s sleep Wanda knew she was in deep trouble not knowing what would happen next.
What would happen between the both of you.
With questions in her mind, and anxious to see you Wanda stood up and went towards the door. As soon as she left the protectiveness of your room, Wanda's eyes fell on the picture of you and your former lover. The story resounded in her mind, and Wanda felt a surge of power go through her. She wished she could harm the one person that had damaged you the way she did, the scars that you had to carry around were a reminder that you had given it your all once only to be betrayed by them.
Do you think she is still alive? Perhaps we can look for her and… teach her what real power looks like.
Wanda allowed a smirk on her lips at those words, she thought about it but she highly doubted the woman was still alive. And if she was, she was probably rotting somewhere around the world. Stepping back, Wanda decided this was not worth her time, her nose had just picked up the smell of food and her stomach was doing somersaults at the thought of seeing you after last night.
Wanda’s breath caught on her throat, there was soft music sounding around the living room. You had your back to the main hall, concentrated on whatever it was you were doing on the stove. Your hair was pick up in a ponytail with light sports clothing, you looked so relaxed Wanda couldn’t help but wonder what was on your mind.
We could…
Wanda didn’t let Scarlet finish the thought, she didn’t want to intrude your mind to know and ease out her worries about you and her, about what you thought of the night before. Because now that she saw you, she had to wonder, and the old insecurities came back full force. Her eyes drifted to the sofa were a pillow and a couple of covers were resting showing the make-up shift bed you had fixed the night before, the bed you made instead of staying behind.
Too bad, I wouldn't have minded her cuddling me during the night.
Wanda felt her cheeks warm up at the thought, she shook her head approaching you from behind biting her lower lip with a wave of nervousness washing over her. What if you decided to pretend last night didn't happen? After all, it had been Wanda the one to start the kiss and you had run off as soon as you could.
This thought made her hesitate, Wanda stood there without noticing the laptop or the person at the other end watching with growing amusement the scene.
"You didn't tell me you have company, Y/N." You heard Sersi speak through your earbuds, her voice startling you.
You straightened up turning around to see Wanda standing there like a deer caught in the headlights, her cheeks dusted in pink. It had been a while since Sersi last saw the grin you were wearing at the moment, and the woman softened slightly when she saw she raw happiness you exuded at finding Wanda right there with you. You turned off the earbuds and put them off of your ears, you took a step closer to Wanda stopping just a few feet away.
"Morning Principessa, sleep well?" There was a hint of amusement in your tone, your eyes sparkled with affection seeing the blush adorning Wanda's cheek.
"I… yes, I did…"
God, why was she stuttering like a teen? Wanda stepped forward; she knew what she wanted to do but was still unsure if it would be welcome. Last night you two had spoken of many things but the kiss; you tilted your head smirking with a knowing expression attached to your face.
Wanda rolled her eyes though her lips curled slightly, lowering her head bashfully at how easily you read her intentions. You tilted your head completely forgetting the person at the other end of the screen.
"Did you wash your teeth?"
Your question caught her by surprised, she jumped slightly with her eyebrows shooting upwards at the question.
"N-No, my toothbrush is back at the house." She tried to explain lamely, Wanda could feel the roll of eyes coming from Scarlet at her words. "I just…do you want me to…"
God, she was cute. You shook your head, grabbed her hand and put her to you, this time around the kiss was playful, and she could taste your smile while trying to match the teasing movements of your lips.
"So, I guess you're Wanda, right?" Came the amused comment from Sersi, Wanda jumped back, eyes going wide as she looked into the screen of the laptop.
You chuckled rolling your eyes at Sersi never letting go of Wanda who was just a little surprised and kind of unsure of who the other woman was. She turned to you with questioning eyes, you scratched the back of your head pointing with your eyes at the other woman.
"Wanda, meet Sersi, another extended member of my family." Here you softened slightly, Sersi offered a kind smile to you then to Wanda. "And yes, this is Wanda."
"Hi, sorry about…" Wanda tried to apologise while gesturing with her hand, she was mortified at having been so distracted by you she never noticed you were on a video call with someone.
Sersi laughed shaking her head, her eyes gleamed mischievously at you before she spoke.
"Don't worry, this isn't the first time I'm surprised by the show. I've seen worst."
You opened your eyes wide at that, Wanda tensed, lifting a single eyebrow while glancing between you and Sersi.
"Have you?" Wanda asked with an edge to her tone, Sersi winked at you leaning back.
"Yep, and I believe this is my queue to leave. It was a pleasure, Wanda. Y/N, please behave. Talk to you later."
Sersi left without waiting for your answer, you shook your head in disbelief before noticing those green eyes of the woman standing beside you were trying to dig a hole in your head.
"So, it's not the worst she had seen?" There was something about that comment that struck Wanda the wrong way, for some reason, Wanda felt bothered by the mere image that those words brough to her mind.
It's called jealousy.
"It's not as bad as it sounds." You replied sheepishly, walking backwards putting Wanda to you.
"It sounds really bad, though." She replied putting her lower lip out. You chuckled tilting your head.
"It happened only once, and she didn't knock before barging into the room."
Wanda was about to ask more about it but your close proximity and the teasing sensation of your breath against her skin made her choke on her words.
"Are you jealous, Little Witch?"
Wanda stood there for a moment, she tried to gather her thoughts to give you an answer but her mind was cloudy at the moment. You leaned in placing another kiss on her, you knew the moment you tasted her lips it was going to be impossible to stop kissing her. To stop tasting her.
Once you parted from her everything around you started spinning. She was flustered, eyes glassy over and her lips curled into a shy smile. You couldn't believe you really wanted to get into this situation all over again. You weren't even sure if this was something she wanted, or that you were ready for.
You stepped back letting go of her for the time being, while she was really addictive you two needed to talk before anything else were to happen.
"I got breakfast ready." You stepped back, going back to the stove. "Can you help me set up the table?"
Wanda stood there for a moment, slightly confused by the change of humour. She lowered her gaze furrowing her brows lightly before going to set up the table. Everything was looking so familiar, so domestic she soon realized perhaps this was something you were not used to, or perhaps it was too much. After all, the both of you had not spoken about what happened yesterday or what you just did or actually about what would happen next.
Do you really want to get into this conversation now?
No, if she were to be honest, she didn’t want to speak about it yet. She needed…Wanda needed to organize her thoughts before anything else were to happen.
"I hope you like them." You were wearing a very proud smile while placing the food at the table, pancakes alongside some fruit and coffee. According to Natasha, Wanda’s favourite. By the look the young woman was wearing at the moment, it seemed that you made something right.
Wanda grinned at you, there was a hint of surprised in her green eyes though she just sat there very pleased with everything.
"I love pancakes." She said, smiling at you, "Thank you."
You couldn’t help the smugness behind your grin, going to your own plate before the both of you started sharing a breakfast in silence hearing the music you still had on. There was no tension there, and while it was quite evident both of you were deep in thought it was familiar. Wanda shot you quick glances, playing with her food for a moment looking for a way to start a conversation with you, something that would keep your attention on her the way she seemed to have her attention on you.
After all this time, you still don't know what to do or how to interact.
"And you do?"
What do you want to do with her?
Wanda almost snorted out loud at the question, she coughed mortified at the curious glance you sent her way and the laughter from Scarlet.
"Sorry, I just…" She started slowly coming to a decision. "Are you doing something today?"
You opened your eyes, eyebrows lifted at the question.
"Not really, did you think about something?"
Wanda nodded, "what about lunch at my place?"
It was a spur of the moment decision; Wanda was not ready to let go of the moment she spent with you yesterday but she wasn't ready to speak about what was happening yet. And she certainly wasn’t thinking about leaving or running away, this time around she was just puzzle about her next step in life.
You chuckled tilting your head, "sure, that sounds perfect. Anything else you want to do to me today? I mean with me?"
Wanda lowered her face, her hand covering the blush on her face when she caught sight of your wriggling eyebrows and the teasing smile curving on your lips.
"God you are impossible." She mumbled looking away.
You laughed and shrugged, "as long as it keeps you blushing, I don't see why I shouldn't do it."
"So as long as I am mortified and embarrassed you're going to continue with the inappropriate comments?"
"That's right." You laughed and soon the tension was no longer there and conversation drifted as naturally as it had been a few days ago. Before the initial almost kiss, before the fact something in the both of you changed and transformed into something both of you were afraid to label.

Whenever she went back to the house, she became aware of the emptiness in her life.
It had been that way since day one, until that day.
Wanda rested her back against the door, her eyes sweeping around the place while she tried to grasp the thoughts inside her head. She remembered those very first days in which the need to have the Darkhold in her hands was a necessity, it was as a security blanket she had gotten used to seek out comfort while submerging inside her own twisted desires.
Wanda could still remember those days she would spend in her astral form, a place in which she was more Scarlet than herself.
She hadn’t forgotten, the memory of Vision was still there but it wasn’t burning her very soul the way it had done at the very beginning. A hand placed itself in her abdomen, this time around a different kind of pain settled in her heart and her eyes blurred over at another memory that had haunted her ever since leaving Westview. Her unborn child. Hers and Vision’s.
Wanda furrowed her brows, looking away while trying to shake away the thought she stepped forward trying to come back to reality. Whatever made her think about that fact in particular, could not be good; even if having a child was a blessing, she was well aware that Vision was not capable of such a deed and she…well, she could have created the illusion of a child but not an actual child.
Right?
This time around she didn’t hear Scarlet and the silence was a strange one, Wanda was so tempted to inquire about this but her eyes soon fall upon the mobile she had not used that much in the last couple of days. She approached it with care and her eyes went wide at the number of messages from everyone and the two missed calls from Natasha.
A part of Wanda would always be surprised by how many of them were really interested in her well-being. How many of them really cared for her.
She glanced at the conversation with Natasha before typing really quick.
When are you coming over?
Good day to you too, Wanda.
Wanda could imagine the face Natasha was doing, the young woman sighed in relief knowing there wasn't much that had changed. At least, not that she could tell, Wanda hesitated as the old insecurities came back, what if she was bothering Natasha?
Wanda? How have you been? Is everything alright?
Wanda sighed in relief, smiling softly.
Yes, everything is fine… I just…
Her fingers hovered above the keypad on the phone, she finished the sentence biting her lower lip.
When are you coming over?  I really could use your help right now.
Soon the typing sign showed right under Natasha's name. The older woman wrote fast, and Wanda was slightly anxious about what she really wanted to talk about.
Are you sure you're alright? You haven't answered our messages as of late and now…
Yeah, I just… something happened but I just need to talk about it.
No sooner had she sent the message her phone rang with the ID showing Natasha's name. Wanda chewed in her lower lip before picking up the line.
"What happened? Are you alright?"  Wanda had been so worried about her own problems, about her own thoughts and insecurities, about everything she wanted that she never noticed the tinge of panic in Natasha's voice.
"I'm fine, Natasha. Everything is… fine."Wanda winced when Natasha huffed.
"Don't scare me like that." This time around Wanda did frown confused.
"Why would I scare you by telling you I'm fine?"
There was a moment of silence, Wanda scowled knowing perhaps everyone was thinking about her breaking down and still deep in grief. A part of her thought that was where she always would be.
"No, don't get me wrong, it's just that… look, never mind that. Tell me, what happened?"
Wanda narrowed her eyes for a moment, Natasha was sounding too dismissive all of a sudden. The young witch wondered if perhaps something had happened or if there was something Natasha was hiding but she decided at the moment there were more important matters she wished to deal with.
"I would prefer it if we could talk face to face, you told me after your mission you will come I was…" Wanda trailed off realizing she really missed the Widow and the rest of the team, she had come to love her time in Italy but the Avengers had also been part of her extended family.
"I miss you."
"You know that even if you said that you're taking this vacation for a whole year, right?"
Wanda held back her smile at this, she missed her family but right now she would rather stay where her heart was and that was right beside you. This revelation almost made her drop the phone on her hand, when she turned to her reflection Scarlet was looking just as shocked as she felt.
"It's not about that, it's just… I really missed you guys."
There was a long silence at the other end of the line before Natasha spoke again.
"I'll be there by the end of the week."
"What? Really?"
"Yeah, I missed you too, Wanda. I did tell you I will check on you. Sorry if I haven't been able to keep my word."
"No, it'sokay, I understand. I'm just glad you really want to come over."
And Wanda was really happy, her whole body had relaxed and her heart had jumped from joy at this news. She really missed the team, but what she missed the most was the insight Natasha always offered her whenever she felt lost. Like she felt at the moment.
"Of course, I do, I'll take Yelena with me and Clint is still undecided but whatever he decides I'll be there so I expect a nice meal and a good story."
"Oh, believe me I have a pretty good one."
Wanda stood there for a moment before spurring into action, you would be there soon and she wanted to make sure everything was ready for you. With a smile on her face, she decided tom take a bath first before going to organise the house and started making lunch. She wanted everything to be perfect, something that would somehow repay the way you had been treating her from day one.
______________________________________________________________
The first time she learnt how to cook was when she and Pietro had been living on the streets.
Pietro would make sure to always got something to eat, and Wanda would make sure it was always warm and a decent meal. She was not good by any means, but it was what they got and Pietro never complained; by the time she got with the Avengers her cooking abilities had improved and her curiosity and need to occupy her mind in something obliged her to go around the compound trying out different recipes until she became very adept at cooking.
When she created Westview, she was ready to be the perfect wife, the perfect neighbour, and the perfect mom. At that time, she had only cooked for herself, Vision didn’t need the food and Wanda usually found herself eating by herself which made her realized no one knew about her cooking abilities and this could probably be the very first time she cooked for someone.
That was the reason for her anxiousness.
Not only had you gotten there wearing a pretty cute set of pants and a shirt, fixing your hair with light make-up, but you also brought wine and behaved as if that was just a date. Wanda wondered how you did it, how was it possible to make the simplest of gestures into something so breathtakingly meaningful.
“Is there something on my face?” You finally asked after what seemed the hundredth time Wanda shot you apprehensive stares, all through lunch she had seemed restless unable to keep her hands alone or the rings on her fingers from turning around.
She made a face looking away, it was stupid really and she was no longer a teenager to go around this time of conversation, so with a deep breath she turned to you shrugging.
“I just…did you like it?” Wanda blurted out pointing at your empty plate, and the rest of the empty plates around the table.
You blinked a couple of minutes before holding back your smile, you leaned in tilting your head.
“I did, everything was delicious, Wanda.” The fact that you used her name, and the seriousness in which you said it made her relaxed a little. “Were you nervous about that?”
Wanda shrugged, her lips twitching upwards.
“It’s the first time a cook for someone that it isn’t me or Pietro.”
You opened your eyes at the revelation, your hand sneaking around until it placed itself on top of hers. The gesture on your face showed just how pleased you were, and the glint in your eyes made Wanda relaxed some more.
“It was amazing, Wanda, it really was.”
Wanda dipped her head, her lips curling slightly, “I thought you were going to be tired of eating pasta.”
“Never, it’s my favourite dish, so I will never get tired of it.” You winked at her leaning back, your hand went to the bottle to serve the last of the wine you had brought with you. “You really…I mean, never before? You know cook for someone else?”
Wanda furrowed her brows looking away from you, she shrugged well aware your eyes were on her.
“Vision was the only one.” She said softly. “He didn’t need to eat, and actually it was something he didn’t do…but…no, nobody else. Only you.”
Your heart ached at the revelation, something inside you stirred with affection towards the woman sitting in front of you. If you had doubts about what had happened the night before between the both of you, you didn’t have any doubts right now. Wanda Maximoff was the woman you wanted, and the woman you were falling in love with; she was so much different to the women you had met in the past.
“It was amazing, then.” You replied offering a sincere smile. “Definitely, my favourite so far.”
Wanda offered a flustered smile looking away from you, “You don’t have to say that. I mean, you can only say if it was good and that’s it.”
You shook your head standing up, your arms spreading out to show the table, Your eyes found those of Wanda leaning in.
“I mean it, you will have to give me the recipe or…you can always prepare it for me whenever you want.” Wanda didn’t miss the meaning behind such a comment, she tensed lightly and you just offered a nervous smile at her. “I mean, if you want…we should probably…”
“Yes, I know we should.” Wanda intervened before you could stop talking. “I just think…that we can wait? Just a little longer? Before we talk about it.”
You stood there for a moment, the words dancing inside your mind while you tried to weight the pros and cons of what Wanda was asking. You knew the kiss…well, kisses needed to be addressed because right now you were kind of confused about the whole situation. You new it was something Wanda wanted, but you were not sure to what extend she want it.
The silenced extended, and as the minutes ticked over you realized Wanda was getting more and more nervous. Time? Yeah, you could give her that, if only because you knew what Wanda was living at the moment was not something she got over overnight.
“I just think…” Wanda started but gasped as soon as your lips found her cheek, you smiled at her cupping her cheek in your hand.
“Yeah, I think we can wait to have that conversation.” You said softly. “As long as I can keep with the kisses…”
This time around Wanda laughed, and she did so while bringing you down and crushing her lips with yours.  The weight of what the future held for the both of you lifted for the time being, and Wanda merely let herself lived the moment.
You blinked slowly, the daze in your eyes told Wanda she had done something incredibly good.
“How about I help you with the dishes, and we watch a movie afterwards?”
“That sounds like a good plan.”
You tried to not show the relief you felt when Wanda, accepted. You were not ready to leave, though much like Wanda you were not ready to talk about what was happening between the both of you. The work was almost done, and much like you had done before soon you and Wanda engaged in small talk, nothing out of the ordinary enjoying the sheer familiarity of the whole situation.
Wanda was speaking about the first time she tried to sneak inside a bar, you held back your laughter because it was an adorable story. Your hands were full of soap, and your mind couldn’t help but wonder how long it had been since you have something like this, something with someone that had engraved herself deep inside your heart.
“But of course, Pietro and his big mouth blew out covers and we weren’t allowed to go there.” Wanda tilted hr head to you, she furrowed her brows seeing the serious expression on your face, “Something happened?”
“Yes, actually…” you started leaning in, Wanda was more confused than anything but soon she discovered you were just pretending so you could have your fun with her.
“You are too easy to tease.” The laughter in your voice is quite evident, Wanda stood frozen for a moment with disbelief and soap all over her face. “You..I think you have something on your face.”
It was a silly game.
Wanda didn’t understand why you initiated it, and you were just trying to ease out whatever tension was still hanging above your heads. You just took a chance to ease the situation, but at the same time to just be with Wanda; even if that meant the kitchen was a complete disaster it was all worthy because you made her smile.
Wand was laughing playfully, she continued splashing some water on you before hiding from another soap attack. Wanda’s heart was beating fast and hard against her chest, her cheeks flustered and the grin was almost impossible of wiped out. Watching you al flustered, smiling with water and soap on you, Wanda had to wonder why she never tried such silly games with anyone. She had never had a moment for this silliness since she was always running from something.
We and Vision never played like this either. Wanda scowled at those words; they never played it was the truth but it didn’t mean…I meant nothing.
"Penny for your thoughts?"  You lifted your hands in a gesture of peace, Wanda shook her head offering a single smile while narrowing her eyes at you.
"Last time I trusted that gesture, you splash my shirt."
You chuckled wriggling your brows, "You're too easy to tease. But this is a peace offering, no more water or soap, I promise."
Wanda came out from her hiding place in the living room making a face when glancing at the kitchen.
"I hope you know you will have to…"
She didn't finish her sentence when your lips found those of hers. The kiss was different, every single one of them had been unique and Wanda found herself drowning in the experience of kissing someone that wasn't Vision. There was something different in you, it was something uniquely you that made of this kissing experience something different; you were soft, wherever you two kiss your body and your lips were tender and comforting. Your body was warm, and it felt right whenever you approached her making contact with a hug or a question.
When you parted, Wanda was flustered breathing hard and her eyes were gleaming strangely at you. You in the other hand were hiding your emotions, the only indication the kiss had affected you were your eyes that seemed darker than usual.
"You… you will have to clean up the kitchen either way."
You couldn't help but laugh at that giving her a peck on the cheek before nodding.
"Sure, I'll do it right now." You stepped back more than happy to help around, if only to extend your stay in Wanda’s place and shared her company.
"Do you have a movie on mind? I mean, since you recommend the movie…” Wanda lowered her gaze chewing on her lower lip, perhaps you wanted to leave after cleaning up the mess?
This uncertainty around you was really making her anxious, but the reassuring stare in your eyes and the way she seemed to brought calmness into her heart was all Wanda needed it at the moment.
"Of course, I do! Let’s do something, Principessa, I’ll clean up while you search for the movie.” You stepped back offering a reassuring glance to Wanda, the young woman nodded with her lips tugging upwards.
"Sure, that sounds, perfect.” Wanda stepped back almost falling down on her back if you hadn’t been right there to hold her back.
Wanda sighed mortified, not daring to lift her gaze and see the amusement in your eyes. It didn’t matter though; your chuckle was all the indication she needed to know you found that particular mishap amusing and very much an aftereffect of your closeness.
"Careful there, we don’t want you falling over before we get a chance to at least have a date.”
Wanda lifted her face rather fast, the pink on her cheeks was still there but those green eyes were looking at you with some intensity that you knew were demanding an explanation. You titled your head, the teasing in your eyes and the mischief in your lips told Wanda.
“Because, I surely hope, you and I are going out the old-fashioned way.” You could see the hinges inside Wanda’s head working around your words, while it was truth neither of you wanted to start a conversation just yet, it didn’t mean that you were going to simply let it rest.
And Wanda’s heart shrank at the thought, her hole body tingle with the anticipation behind your words and it was as if she was a teenager all over again trying to catch the attention of someone she liked but never dared to approach.
“I hope you know I can be a very demanding date.” Wanda retorted teasingly, and you couldn’t help but laugh stepping back winking at her.
“Oh, I kinda guess you were, Principessa. Go ahead, chose a movie and I will be right there.”
You turned around leaving Wanda behind, the redhead kept her eyes on you and soon her mind pressed forward and the voice of her alter ego broke her concentration.
You're drooling, by the way.  Wanda could almost sense the roll of Scarlets eyes. Can you be more pathetic? You don't have to answer, is a rhetoric question.
Wanda tried to regain some control of herself before going to the sofa and turning on the TV. God, it was only kisses, nothing else, it wasn't even that good…
You do know you can't lie to me, don't you?
Wanda clenched her eyes shut in mortification. She knew she needed to talk to you about everything that was happening but she just couldn’t bring herself to do so just yet; it wasn’t that she didn’t want to see and explore what she was starting with you, but you were so unexpected and different to what Wanda was used to. She really just needed a friendly ear to help her figure it out how to approach this, how to approach you without messing up.
By the time you came over to the sofa, Wanda had already chosen the movie and fix everything so you two share the small sofa without having to be too close. You couldn’t help but smile for the options she was giving you silently, you sat down on the corner of the sofa while Wanda sat at the other end. It wasn’t uncomfortable, if anything it was what it was supposed to be and there was no need for you two to be on top of one another just to be close.
In the end it didn’t matter though, by the end of the day and after sharing some popcorn and critics about the movies you two watched during the afternoon, she ended up cuddling next to you, and you ended up wrapping a protective arm around her knowing there was no turning back from this.
From her.

You were not kidding when you told Wanda about you going over everything the old-fashioned way.
The next day you appeared at her doorstep after having sneaked around and came back with a tempting invitation to a day stroll. Wanda was soon giving in while you took her to the best paths around the city, your voice carried by the wind while you took her to the best spots around the village. It was the very first experience of many, in which your attention would be devoted to her and not even once did Wanda have a doubt that what you made her feel was something new, exiting, and scary.
Wanda could say that many things in her life changed without her being completely aware of the change. This sort of happened, and she took the changes with some trepidation for fear of failing again. Of losing everything again. The constant reminder of her failures and regrets was the very first thing she felt when taking upon herself the duty of a hero.
In her mind there had always been a battle between the darkness she allowed in when she lost her parents, and the willingness to be good to be a hero. And while she thought after Westview the only thing she was capable of was darkness, the Darkhold making sure that was all she knew, all she could access to. Then you came in, and it wasn’t you per se, but the way you kept pushing and pushing confronting Wanda with the things she was most afraid of.
And as confusing and scary as it was everything she had been experiencing since coming back and loosing Vision, she was happy about the experience. The days passed by and Wanda found herself giving in, letting go, experiencing things she never thought possible. She was laughing like she hadn’t done since she was a child, and she had allowed herself to enjoy the moment as if the weight of the world wasn’t on her shoulders.
“I think you want me to get drunk.” Wanda glanced at the glass filled with wine, her green eyes finding yours.
“No, not at all.” You replied winking. “Is it working?”
Wanda laughed shaking her head, “a little.”
You chuckled placing your hand on hers, your eyes shone with concern that melted her heart right away. She leaned in placing a kiss on your cheek.
“I’m kidding, I’m not even close to getting drunk.” Wanda sighed when your hand moved to her cheek, in the last couple of days you had outdone yourself by showing her around the area and letting her live in ways she hadn’t done before.
Wanda glanced around the vineyard, the sun above your heads was warm though the wind was cold. Ajak and Sprite were talking with an old lady, while you taught her about the wine in the area and the vineyard in general. In all this time you two had not share a single kiss, but the tension was quite evident between the both of you.
It was almost electric.
Like how it was at that moment, you glanced into her eyes and without even thinking about it leaned in kissing her softly. The taste of the wine was still fresh in her lips, Wanda sighed with a grin adorning her features as soon as you leaned back.
“I don’t know, you taste too much of wine to not be a little tipsy already.” You replied licking your lips, Wanda dipped her head hiding away her bashful expression.
“I’m not tipsy, but I am hungry.” Wanda replied taking another sip from her glass.
You pressed your lips together, lifting your head you saw the knowing smirk on Sprite’s and Ajak’s face and you just knew they saw the kiss. You were not going to live that one down.
“So, let’s go grab something to eat. This vineyard has an amazing restaurant down the road, and then we can do whatever you want.”
Wanda lifted her eyes to the sky; the wind brushed her hair out of her face and the sweet aroma of the vines and the earth filled her nostrils. You smiled, and your heart shrank with deep emotion while a hoard of butterflies broke in your abdomen and her green eyes locked with yours.
“How about coffee down the plaza? I love their coffee, and we could talk. I think you still owed me a story.”
“Oh, we’re going for coffee?” Sprite came right in bouncing with mischief in her eyes, you shook your head and Wanda hid her smile behind her glass.
“No, I’m going for coffee with Wanda, you on the other hand are going to get lost.” Your arm sneaked around Wanda’s waist making a face to Sprite who crossed her arms lifting a single eyebrow.
“You know I can tell Wanda like a hundredth embarrassing stories of you? That alone should get me a free ticket to coffee today.”
“You know what? I like the sound of that.” Wanda replied turning to you. “I haven’t heard much embarrassing stories about you.”
“And you won’t hear any if I have a said in this.” You replied furrowing your brows, Wanda stepped back away from you placing herself right beside Sprite.
“I don’t know, I kinda like her idea better.” Wanda shot you a very mischievous smile that made your knees go weak at the sight.
Sprite knew you were about to give in, you opened your mouth mock glaring at her.
“You’re impossible!”
“I’m not impossible! You two have been together all week and I feel abandoned.” Sprite replied. “Besides, the stories, are worth at least a coffee and a bottle of wine.”
“No way in hell, Sprite.”
Wanda held back her laughter having gotten used to your antics whenever the young woman was nearby. The two of you started arguing while insinuating very embarrassing details, Ajak huffed shaking her head while also smiling t the sight.
“So, coffee this afternoon?” The old woman asked and Wanda merely laughed.
“I would like that, yes.” Wanda relaxed into the usual conversation she shared with the woman, soon the four of you were making your way to the restaurant while talking amongst yourselves.
“I take it, everything went well then.” Ajak finally stated walking beside Wanda, the young woman nodded softening her features a little.
“It did, I guess.”
“And still you two…have not spoken about it, have you?” Wanda scowled a little glancing back at you then to Ajak, the woman shook her head shrugging. “She told me.”
“I just…” Wanda sighed unable to explain what she was needing, what she was looking for. But Ajak placed a comforting hand on her forearm shaking her head.
“No, need to explain, each one of us have our own pace to do things.” Ajak then offered a motherly smile; the one Wanda was getting used to. “I’m just glad to see her so happy, and to see you so relax.”
“Thank you, I…I am. I feel at ease.” Wanda and Ajak turned around when soon laughter filled the air.
“They’re like children, but if you want I can take care of Sprite and…”
“No, no please…” Wanda blushed lightly shaking her head stopping Ajak before she could finish the comment. “I do want to hear the embarrassing stories, but I know she has missed you two and perhaps it would be good to just spend time with you guys as well.”
Ajak went serious for a moment, her dark eyes pinned Wanda on the spot and pretty much like every time she tried to read their thoughts all she got were unfocused images and no sound. This made her wonder just exactly who all your extended family was, and if she dared to ask and you were ready to answer. Ajak tilted her head before breaking into a smile.
“That’s a good answer.” Was all she said before turning to you and Sprite. “Children, I’m hungry you better hurry or there won’t be any dessert.”
Wanda chuckled when you and Sprite hurried down the road, Ajak rolled her eyes.
“Works every time.”

Night had already fallen by the time the both of you got back to the hill.
It had been a long day, and Wanda felt completely drained though a little reluctant to let go of you. Much like she had felt the last couple of nights when you brough her back to the house and said goodbye.
“Did you have fun?” You finally asked standing a few centimetres away from her.
Wanda dipped her head; it was impossible to keep her smile away from her face. In the last couple of days all she had done was talk with you and enjoyed those moments you gifted her with; you had taken it upon yourself to teach her about the history of the country and the town, always talking from memory, as if you had lived through such times. A part of Wanda, the one that was still tied to her life as an Avenger told her it was almost impossible for you to have been alive at that point since that would make you really old. Another part, the one in which Scarlet was always presented told her, ion the end it didn’t matter.
You were there enchanting her with your conversation and your gestures.
And Wanda found herself telling you everything, just like you seemed to share the life you had lived so far.
“I did, yes.” Wanda leaned back glancing into the sky then back at you. “I have never had so much fun before, you know? I mean, it was different when my parents were alive and then…”
Wanda couldn’t say it.
A part of her was feeling guilty all of a sudden, it hadn’t been Vision’s fault that the small moments they shared had been under tensed circumstances while they were on the run. And once they were on Westview, she found herself in the life of a housewife with Vision being a devoted husband going out to work every day, a child in the way and little to not time to do something like this.
Shall we feel guilty every time we feel happy? Would he want that?
“I get it, I know.” You continued once Wanda had trailed off unable to continue. “I guess I just wanted to make sure you had a fun. That was the reason you came all the way to Italy.”
It was.
Wanda was there to heal, and that was what she was doing. Healing.
“Thank you, for everything.” She finally mumbled putting her arms around herself, tilting her head she offered you a half sheepish smile. “I think I’m beat, actually. You really have taken it upon yourself to show me every single fun thing in town.”
You chuckled scratching the back of your neck, “I did warn you I like things the old-fashioned way. The same as your romcoms.”
Wanda rolled her eyes shaking her head, you could say whatever you want about them and even laughed at the stories but right now you were being a complete romantic and you knew it, as much as Wanda did, that you were loving it.
“Go on, Little Witch, take a bath and then off to bed tomorrow we have another great day of fun.”
Wanda narrowed her eyes at you, there was a hint of mischief in your eyes that was not missed by the young witch but right now it was way to late to inquire about. Either way, she would soon find out about it.
“I will rest then, Y/N.” Wanda hesitated for a moment before leaning in placing a kiss at the corner of your lips. “Have good night, Y/N.”
Your lips curled into a goofy grin, “sleep well, Wanda. See you in the morning.”
Wanda stepped back walking towards the house with thoughts of you, your words and smile dancing in her head. That night she would dream of you, and the darkness in her heart and mind would all but disappeared if only for a single night.
