Nick, James, Felix and myself started a boy band to raise awareness. We still can't play a gig due to covid though. But all jokes aside, Our industry was the first to shut down and will be one of the last to reopen.
Usually you don't see any of us because we work to entertain and are barely seen by the public. Tonight however you will see us. We will be lighting up venues across the county in red from 9pm to midnight.
Live events employ over 12 million people.
Live events contributes over $1 trillion annually to the US economy.
95% of live events have been cancelled due to COVID-19.
96% of companies have cut staff and/or wages.
77% of people in the live events industry have lost 100% of their income, including 97% of 1099 workers.
Let Congress know we need them to get to work and pass the RESTART Act and extend PUA & FPUC.

On Sept 1st, 2020, this was filmed from an attendee POV of the national march and rally for entertainment, staging, and live event workers as we push road cases through downtown streets, bringing awareness to the troubling state of the industry. The event saw venues, businesses, and music lovers light the city in red to show support.

For my entire adult life, I’ve been working in the event & music industry. Never did I think my industry would be at rest. And yet, here we are. Longing for live entertainment, a chance to see our favorite band, or an opportunity to gather with the community to support the arts. @WeMakeEventsNorthAmerica - along with most event venues in the greater Cincinnati area - are going RED for the 12 million people out of work due to COVID-19. Help us save the live events industry & check out www.wemakeevents.org for an easy form that contacts YOUR members of Congress and urges them to pass the RESTART Act and extend PUA and FPUC. We need YOUR help to bring back LIVE ENTERTAINMENT. #WeMakeEvents #Cincinnati #RedAlertRESTART #ExtendPUA (at Madison Theater) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEnf0rjhbKN/?igshid=1qydagbf41jyp

#RedAlertRESTART: The live events industry is on the brink of collapse and needs immediate action. Once a robust $35 billion industry, the live events business was the first to close due to the coronavirus pandemic. An estimated 12 million people working in live entertainment are currently unemployed or furloughed. 77% of those people have lost 100% of their income – including 97% of 1099 workers! Financial losses sustained are in the tens of billions of dollars. Tonight, as thousands of our colleagues illuminate 1,500 venues across the country in red, we ask Congress to pass the Restart Act to provide much-needed assistance for our friends, family members, and graduates in the live events industry. If you want to help: • Visit wemakeevents.org. There's an easy form you can use to send a letter to Congress. • Post a red-tinted photo of your fav live event(s). • Use the hashtags: #wemakeevents #extendPUA #RedAlertRESTART and share images of venues and live events you love. 📸 just a few of our alumni working in #live sound https://www.instagram.com/p/CEm5ZrSHywH/?igshid=eg61hamz87wi
