Little Luxart Library

With students being out of school, and many adults having extra days off, winter break can be a good time to catch up on some recreational reading!

The Little Luxart Library from 1930 would be an easy way to peruse some classics. The set includes 28 slim books, including excepts from famous poetry collections such as: The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam,  Barrack Room Ballads by Rudyard Kipling and a Child's Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson, short stories such as one featuring Sherlock Holmes by Conan Doyle,  The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde, The Strange Case of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson and The Gold Bug by Edgar Allan Poe.

It even has non fiction, such as some Essays by Ralph Waldo Emerson, and speeches and letters from George Washington and Abraham Lincoln!

Because these books were massed produced and often sent out to as free gifts for subscribing to Literary Digest for a year, the books are cheaply made. Each one is bound in red imitation leather with embossed covers and spines, and the paper is brittle and yellowed.
