I realize I've drawn a lot of white men recently 😭 nothing wrong with it inherently, but I'll try to be a little more diverse with my next couple drawings to not grow stale.

It was a night dedicated to cinema, and for India, that is synonymous with Amitabh Bachchan. At the closing ceremony of IFFI 2017 in Goa, Big B was the star. He was given the Indian Film Personality of the Year Award by I&B Minister Smriti Irani, who talked about how the same ministry had once rejected Bachchan at an audition for All India Radio! Akshay Kumar and Smriti Irani handed over the Indian Film Personality of the Year Award to Amitabh Bachchan. But the anecdote that stole the show and everyone’s heart was Akshay Kumar’s. Recalling his first meeting with the superstar, Akshay said, “In 1980, when I was 12 or 13, I had gone to Kashmir with my parents. He (Amitabh) was shooting there. Mere pitaji ne kaha, ja beta autograph maang le. Main bhaag kar gaya. Sir angoor kha rahe thay. Jab sir autograph de rahe thay toh meri nazar angoor par thi. Ek angoor gir gaya aur chup kar ke maine woh uthaya. Inhone mujhe autograph ke saath angoor ka guchha diya aur main aap se ye kahunga, sir, woh angoor thode khatte thay… lekin us angoor ki essence mere paas aaj bhi hai.” Commenting on Sidharth’s tribute to him, Amitabh said, “Achha hua Sidharth hamare zamane mein nahin thay, nahin toh bahut saare roles unko mil jate.” Akshay told the audience that he never forgot this graciousness of Amitabh, and when one day on his own set, a kid was crying because he was not allowed to meet Akshay, he intervened. “Aur woh bachcha Ranveer Singh nikla!” Akshay shared, making Amitabh chuckle. Calling Amitabh his superhero, Akshay said, “America mein Superman hai, Batman hai, Spider-man hai, hamare paas ‘Angry young man’ hai. Aapne pita ka role mere aur kai heroes ke liye kiya hai, but I would like to officially say today, you’re the father of the film industry.”  Recalling the decades-old story of Amitabh having been rejected by the AIR in an audition, I&B Minister Smriti Zubin Irani said, “Amitabh Bachchan ke jeevan mein aisa ek haadsa hua tha. All India Radio mein Amitji audition ke liye gaye the aur unko audition mein reject kiya gaya tha. Toh aaj ye vidhi ka vidhan hai aur hamara saubhagya hai ki usi mantralay dwara aaj isi manch par aap ko Bharat sarkar ki taraf se yeh paritoshak hum de rahe hain.” The Times  of  India : 30th.
