If I see one more conspiracy theorist claim that crinoid fossils are prehistoric pre-human screws, I will bite their arm off. The animals still exist! They are distant relatives, but they are still here! And we have a ridiculous amount of complete fossils and even partial ones that show enough of the animal to clearly show what it is!

I wouldn’t throw shade at a normie for that under normal circumstances #BUT YOU ARE SPREADING MISINFORMATION ABOUT MY SPECIAL INTEREST AND YOU DONT KNOW ABOUT THE THING?!#of course they don’t know. they are spreading misinformation #but still #like. I don’t expect my mom to understand everything I say about local fossil hunting #but she isn’t going around spreading information. ESPECIALLY NOT INFORMATION I CAN DISPROVE BY WALKING OUTSIDE #I am not a professional of course so if someone like that started talking I might get lost #we all have different levels of education and understanding on any given topic #but to not have any and then say you know better #I’m going to bite you #‘but they don’t look like screws’ it’s an impression you idiot #like a paw print or a mark left behind by a decayed body #which is kind of what it is tbh
