It’s disability pride month what’s your a3 disability headcanons, I’ll start

- Chikage is Deaf (most loss in his left ear) and uses hearing aids

- Hisoka is legally blind (fully blind in his left eye) and has some hearing loss too

- sakyo uses a cane (he hates Mankai’s stairs and is saving up money to make it more accessible mostly for the others bc he doesn’t think about himself first 🙄)

- most of the furniture is easy to tap on and feel the vibrations so those deaf/HOH can pay attention when needed

- the benches and chairs in the courtyard have removable cushions so they’re easier to sit on for a long time (and can be removed during rainy season

- Tasuku signs during his performances sometimes just for the front row deaf audience members to understand, could range from a joke to something more emotional

- they also do have sign language interpreters at the front

- one wheelchair that anyone can use (sakyo is also saving up money to get more)

- one of the practice rooms is used as the “silent” room for people who need to get away from the chaos sometimes or to blow off steam and only Izumi is allowed inside to check on them in case it’s ever anything worrying

Part 2 of deaf/HOH headcanons of our lovely little family of actors

Here’s Part 1 because some of these reference the first part

• Everyone kinda felt extremely dumb after seeing Misumi sign to Testuro bc “oh yeah. We really shouldve been signing to the non-verbal man all this time” (side note: don’t call him mute, don’t call anyone thats non-verbal “mute”)

• Sakuya signs to the deaf/hoh kids at the daycare he works at and even teaches the other kids and teachers

• Chikage, with Tasuku’s help, programmed a mini handheld device for Masumi that vibrated to the music he was listening to so that Masumi could listen to music without further damaging his ears

• They sign so much at Mankai that Itaru has taken to accidentally signing during streams like “This part of the dungeon is *starts signing accidentally to describe the dungeon’s vibe* oh fuck wait you can’t see me that’s right. Basically I was saying—“

• Tsuzuru has in fact incorporated signing into scripts he writes and plans to write a whole play where they only sign. Tenma, born deaf, and Guy, recently discovered he was HOH, will be the leads

• Hisoka has a tendency to close his eyes and cover his ears when his tinnitus really acts up, but Penpen has quickly become the substitute for that

• I was talking to a friend about this but “okay this just happened to me again like right now so im projecting this onto itaru but itaru going about his business and he steps away from his computer to take a break, but then his hearing starts to get weird, like theres saran rap or something over them and sounds start to muffle as if hes in a bubble. he kinda panics a bit bc he sounds weird to himself, but it isnt until he notices that chikages in front of him and gently grabbing his shoulders that okay. maybe hes panicking a lot cause this is the first time its happened and hes like omg am i losing my hearing but chikages assuring him that even if he was its not the end of the world and hes already learning sign and the whole of mankai has his back and everything will be fine”

• (and lemme tell you as a gamer it’s hard not to panic when you start losing your hearing bc you rely on sound cues a lot. But also I have an acquaintance (a competitive gamer in a very sound cue heavy game) who is deaf and he’s a top player so this is me also telling you that it’s not impossible and of course there’s deaf musicians as well)

• Tenma used to get turned down for auditions a lot bc they figured it’d be a hindrance so he had to prove himself time and time again. Igawa was by his side every day with his support

• Sakyo switched out a few tables with ones that would vibrate more as the more severe-to-deaf members have taken to leaning on these surfaces so that it was easier for the others to get their attention

• Summer will not stop putting signed puns in their plays

• Tsuzuru and Citron have done a signed only manzai act

• Banri and Tenma sometimes have karaoke sessions where they only sign their songs
