how fo you, personally, define emotional cheating? i've been intrigued by the concept since s2 came out, and gotten varying interpretations with people talking about intention, types of relationships, what defines romantic interactions, social context, other factors. i think all the answers i've gotten all have validity in some ways, and some were more detailed than i expected, so i'm wondering if it's just something that depends on the person. so i'm curious what you have to say

I mean, everyone's definitions are different. For me, an affair can be emotional and physical, emotional, or simply physical. I think that any affair involving an emotional relationship between the cheater and the object of their desire is emotional cheating. I can confidently say that I would be much more devastated by my SO falling in love and never laying a hand on the other person, than I would be by my SO going out and fucking someone else mindlessly. Your emotions are just more intimate than your body--for me.

Anthony and Kate were in love. Anthony was literally engaged to (and courting) her sister, who had every intention of marrying him. He violated their commitment, which was very much formal, by being in love with someone else So he was cheating. It's pretty much that simple to me. Like. That's the most obvious definition of an emotional affair--being committed to someone and falling in love with someone else. It super doesn't matter to me if they intended to act on it or not, or if he had feelings for Edwina. He intended to commit to Edwina up to the point of almost exchanging vows. She was led to believe that he would be her husband--and more to the point, that he would literally be deflowering her that night. But he wanted to be with her sister.

People are entitled to their definitions, but it is...... beyond logic to me to suggest that Anthony and Kate weren't having an emotional affair. I mean, if they did that to ME, I would certainly feel cheated on.
