Menstruation is a monthly reality to a girl child. And it’s always the duty of a parent/mother to teach her daughter how to handle this situation in case it happens, but it has come to our notice that some parents find it hard mentioning it to their daughters. And due to that, the situation could happen to the girl while in class and in case no one runs to her rescue, then her day could be ruined. Away from the fact that parents don’t teach the girl child about menstruation, some can’t afford the cost of pads/sanitary towels in Uganda. Honestly, we all know that every girl/women in such a situation needs a pad/sanitary towels and those who can’t afford the cost, end up using dirty clothes which then infect them with various diseases. Having a pad/sanitary towels ready for a girl child could sound a lot simple for you my dear reader, but in the community we are located; if one can’t afford a meal a day, then how can she buy a pad or sanitary towels for her two daughters! Therefore; Active me and You joins hands with parents and some times schools, then teach the girl child about her red days and give pads, menstrual caps, sanitary towels to several girls in homes plus schools. We have witnessed parents and girls saying a sincere thank you to us and in the same spirit, we thank all the people standing with us to bring back the long gone smiles to our local community members. Good sanitation in communities is one of the most important aspects. A few days back we found Nalongo Namuyomba crying for a poorly constructed latrine of timber and rusty iron sheets that could even take their lives, we were so concerned about the situation they were in by that time we met her. Team Activemeandyou and Friends have managed to dig up a pit Latrtine and started the construction on Saturday 24th July 2021 trying to save this family. We are so thankfull for all those that are doing grate jobs of putting activemeandyou on the map of the world through the donations you make to us. Tirelessly we shall continue promoting sanitation in communities as well as doing all it takes helping the vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals in our communities. PLEASE LETS STAND TOGETHER IN THIS MATTER. FEED THE HUNGRY THROUGH LOCKDOWN The government of Uganda has imposed full lockdown for the next month if not longer. People have no assistance to get by in terms of food by the government. Active Me and You remain open and will give assistance to the mostly vulnerable people of Kyotera through providing them with food and other needs through this period of Covid19 Pandemic. Since most of the people in Uganda WORK for every day earning so that they can feed their families, most care takers are only left with one option not listening to the government's restrictions in that they get a way of feeding their families which endangers their lives to getting infected with Covid-19. Many of these people are humiliated by the police and army of Uganda forces when they live them beaten since they are responsible for enforcing the lockdown restrictions. Feeding the hungry program is wishing to continue working and also expand this program to reach to more vulnerable families as a way of reducing the starving rate of families as well as controlling the the spread of Covid-19 in the community which we can't do without you and your support friends. £18 ($22) (€20) will provide a food parcel containing (5kgs of maize flour, 5kg of rice, 1.5 kgs of sugar, 5kgs of beans) for one family of four members for two weeks. The poverty is very sad. Even when we think we don't have much, they are worse off than we are. #Love IS #giving, and #giving IS #sacrifice.
