AMC Entertainment to diversify revenue streams following success of “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour”

CEO of AMC Entertainment, Adam Aron, confirmed to Wall Streeters on a conference call that his company would be “leaning into concert films for next year, in 2025 and beyond,” according to Deadline. 

This announcement follows the success of Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” concert film, which, by November 8th, exceeded $232 million globally and reportedly helped AMC’s stock surge by 11.5%. According to The Street, it took “less than 24 hours for the concert film to break AMC’s U.S. record for the highest single-day ticket sales revenue in the company’s 103-year history” — a staggering achievement.

Fox Business also reports that AMC Entertainment has been tapped to serve as the distributor of Beyoncé’s upcoming concert film: “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé.” While Aron doesn’t expect “Renaissance” to be as big in theatres as “Eras,” CNN predicts that it will still boost ticket sales when it comes out in December.

This development would mark a structural change for AMC’s revenue generation. Leaning into concert films would give AMC a new tool to boost its revenues, as they are emerging as a potential trend in movie theatres. The company’s business model, which traditionally relies heavily on Hollywood productions, could see it diversifying and accessing a new revenue stream beyond traditional films — especially during industry dry spells such as the now-resolved writers’ strike. 

Additionally, AMC’s CEO Aron is “still dreaming of putting sports on the big screen.” The company has been making a multiyear effort to secure the rights to screen sports on the big screen, and continues to be in “active pursuit” of the idea, according to Deadline.

Oh, my God... So many! It really depends on what mood I’m in! I love songs that you can sing and dance along to, and I love listening to music in the car (makes the drive go by so much faster when you’re listening to something catchy).

Perfect Date

Something simple and fun like going to a theme park or a fair where you can get to know the other person in a natural setting and have a laugh. Dinner and movie is okay, but not very imaginative (don’t get me wrong - I love good food and an over-the-top action movie!) but I’d prefer to cook something together at home and then snuggle up on the couch with Netflix afterwards.
