Top 20 Best Things about All Elite Wrestling (Part 4)

Description: Since the ALL IN show in 2018 produced by The Elite & Ring of Honor, AEW has kind of crushed all expectations immediately. They are still fighting to have a bigger presence in the business but 2021 in terms of content and interest in the product is at an all-time high, it seems the emphasis on actually serving the fans as well as the roster has garnered them a significant amount of dedicated fans, here are some of the specific things I think make AEW special.... 

20. A T-Shirt Company-In the early days of AEW, "It's just a T-Shirt Company" became a running gag because they took the promotion of their merch very seriously and their show hadn't gotten off the ground yet, but considering how much money Bullet Club made under The Elite and how The Elite continues to dominate the Pro Wrestling Tees marketplace, I'd say that's a good look. They seemed to have it down to a science on how to get people out to Hot Topic or online to PWTees to grab some gear and now they get to share that with AEW's roster.

19. BTE: Being the Elite-AEW doesn't do a lot of "segments" which is good because they don't take time away from important information you're going to get from backstage or in-ring interviews, promos, or the matches themselves. It's basically a weekly vlog of the experience of working at AEW and being on the road but they run "bits" through this outlet, allowing the talent to show a little bit more of their personality. This is has been running since The Elite was in Japan as well as working ROH, but now it's an extension of AEW.

18. Commentary-While I think three-man commentary booths are a bad idea and I think guys like Jim Ross & Paul Wight contribute very little to the product at this point. I also think Excalibur, Taz, Tony Schiavone and guest commentators like Chris Jericho & Ricky Starks fill the viewers at home in on what they need to know and actually just call the match play-by-play. I hate the concept of heel/face commentary because often times the heel commentary spends a lot of time focusing on other commentators and distracting from what's going on; for example, Corey Graves. It used to annoy me to watch whatever show WWE put him on because he would spend most of the matches dragging Byron Saxton or Michael Cole or Tom Phillips. Taz is technically a heel commentator, but he mostly focuses on what's going on in the ring and his knowledge and experience in the ring just adds to what he brings to the table.

17. Worthwhile PPVs-I had this debate with someone when AEW had their first PPV and it became clear that they were using the old format where you would actually pay for each one; their events would be legitimate pay-per-views. They only have 4 a year, their first year they had 5, PPVs are 50 Bucks so that's $200 a year. The WWE Network is $10 and now WWE is on Peacock for American viewers it's only 5 bucks a month. WWE has 1 PPV a month so technically you're only paying 5 bucks for each, which is only $60 a year. So WWE's content is cheaper but it's also disappointing. Out of the 12 ppvs you get every year, it's like that only 3-5 will actually be good. I would rather pay the $50 every time AEW has a PPV and be satisfied than get a deal on bad shows that I might end up turning off half-way through.
