#phd consuming my life hours#after pretty steadily losing my faith in humanity and academia as the advisor drama at my current school plays out#i visited u miami for their prospective student weekend and Oh My God#literally everyone was nice. everyone was friends. no cut throat competition between students nor faculty#literally everyone loves my potential advisor he was like a golden retriever of a man he has tons of funding his students love him#im baffled how do they do it. current school faculty meetings are a warzone here they like. just talk about improving students lives#the graduate student orgs seem fun. the city seems fucked up and chaotic but cool and all my life will be on the marine campus anyway#there is literally a bar on campus on a key. u literally go downstairs and open a door and ur on the water and theres beer#idk this went from like a back up to a serious consideration other than the political situation of florida its like top choice
