Just posting this to keep track of what LJ content I’ve archived using my Wayback Machine method. I’ll be coming back to edit it regularly. All of these are only the most recent 400 posts, so a lot of the “glory years” may be missed for fandoms that were active in the very early 2000s. I’m trying to prioritize a) substantive text posts like meta and fanfiction, and b) smaller fandoms or fandoms that have faded over time and don’t have much migrated on AO3, but that’s inherently limited by what I know existed, so don’t hesitate to pitch in for your own tiny fandoms!

(One problem I’ve just noticed is that, when using the old Memories format https://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=USERNAME : you have to remember to archive THAT url itself when you’re done, not just the folders! Otherwise there’s no archived path leading people to the folders! I think I’ve missed doing this on a few communities.)

FANDOM SPECIFIC:

the full main communities for Noein, Lux-Pain, & Fantastic Children and up to skip=400 for the Konjiki no Gash (konjiki) and Gankutsuou (gankutsuou) communities

I’m pretty sure I got every entry of the_daily_maou (KKM newsletter comm), so any surviving links in those posts as of 2021 should be preserved

Most of the entries on the Prince of Tennis newsletter community (bringtheballs), so most of the outgoing links to fics and discussion should be preserved

A number of gift exchanges in PoT fandom (don’t remember them all but should be listed in the PoT category on Fanlore)

The discussion tags in the princesstutu and kyou_kara_maou communities (note: these comms had a TON of tags on every page, drowning out the WBM’s ability to grab post links, so a lot of posts may not be preserved in full)

The fic tag, discussion tag, and up to skip=400 in the Samurai Deeper Kyo community love_deeper

(note on yaoi-challenge: there were a TON of tags on the sidebar, so I did my best with the masterlists, but I think a lot got skipped)

Some of 30_kisses, but it was a huge community and I don’t remember exactly how much of it I got. I believe up to skip=400, and then I also used some links from 30_updates, which acted as a digest for everything posted there

The Memories of fanfic100, minus the HP ones because (closes eyes) there were... a lot and it’s one of the most well-documented fandoms of all time. I also did a skip=400, but it seems like the Memories were no longer updated after a certain point (replaced by tags), so there’s definitely some amount missing.

Most of these were only up to skip=400, since that’s where LJ stops showing you full pages and just gives you individual entries. I can’t control which links WBM decides are important, so if you want to find entries in the archived versions of these communities, some individual posts won’t have the normal clean URL preserved, and you won’t get anything by clicking on the post’s title. You may have to click the comments link, the reply link, or one of the LJ-cut links to find which version WBM decided to grab and archive. I hope that most of the posts were at least archived in some form.

Again, I can’t make any guarantees here; one typical problem I ran into is that in rarelitslash, many people would post in the community with a link to the actual fic, which was posted elsewhere. So if I’m saving links from the Memories, the only archived content would be that post in rarelitslash, not the fic itself. I just couldn’t put in the effort it would take to individually save content on that scale, so in that case we’re left with just a tiny bit of information that the fic existed at some point.
