Who is Balaram? 

Lord Balaram is the elder brother of Lord Krishna. In the scriptures, he is depicted as the loving elder brother of Lord Krishna. He is also a friend to Lord Krishna. He was the seventh child of Devaki and Vasudev. We also get to know about his feat in killing many demons. He is the incarnated version of Snake God on which Lord Krishna rests. Some philosophers also believe that he is the second body of Lord Krishna. They are actually one, having the same identity hough they differ just in form.

When do we celebrate Balaram Jayanti?

In different parts of India, it is celebrated on different dates. Normally in most parts of India, we celebrate it on Shravan Purnima. In some parts, people celebrate it on the day of Akshaya Tritiya also. And yet there are some regions where it is celebrated in the month of Vasaikh as Hal Sasthi or Baladeva Chhath. 

Why do we celebrate Balram Jayanti?

It is a belief that if we celebrate the day we will be blessed with physical strength and health. The main part is that the puja is very simple and does not require elaborate pooja items as well. How do we celebrate the day?

The puja vidhi is very simple. We must take a bath early in the morning before starting the pooja rituals. We can then arrange the puja thali items with materials bought from puja kits store prehand.
