i haven’t really gone into it here yet but i definitely follow the theory that maude ivory is katniss’ grandmother. all the songs her father taught her were covey, and who else could have remembered them so perfectly? who to pass down the trait of memorizing a song after a few verses, to have a voice so that even mockingjays stopped & listened until it was over? and it’s very prominent with the hanging tree song, one that was specifically banned soon after lucy gray sang it for the peacekeepers during a birthday celebration because it was too dangerous. carine being startled and angry with katniss’ father when she heard her singing it as a girl.

anyway i enlisted harrow’s help and we decided, with the way the covey were being cracked down on for their music & culture, katniss’ father was the first to be named after a flower rather than a ballad —— but his full name was allium teal everdeen. hence katniss and primrose.
