Alok went to the United States equipped with dreams of harnessing technology for a better tomorrow. Achieving a Bachelor of Science (B.S.), in Computer Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, USA, and a Master of Science (MS), in Information Technology Project Management from DePaul University Jarvis College of Computing and Digital Media, provided a strong basis for his future professional endeavours. There is no limit to the learning path, Alok also holds a PhD degree in mathematics which he completed later in India.

His professional career began in 2009 as an Intermediate Business & Programmer Analyst at AT&T which is the world’s number one telecom Fortune Five company. And today, after almost fourteen years of continuous learning and effort, he is IT Director for a top Aviation client based in North America and India.

Parallel to his corporate success, Alok harboured entrepreneurial dreams, which culminated in the founding of Yatiken Software Solutions in 2014. Combinations of Alok’s parent's name, father Yatindra Nath Jha and mother Kendula Jha ��Yati-ken” reveal his origins and morals that Yatiken is not just a company but a dream which binds him to his roots and motivates him to achieve more. Under his leadership, Yatiken has grown into a distinguished IT firm with operations across the United States, Canada, and India, serving clients globally with a suite of services including web development, app development, digital marketing, and consulting.

Do you know what a Scrum Master is what he does?

Let me tell you this today.

Basically, an Agile development team is facilitated by a Scrum master. They are in charge of overseeing the team members' information sharing. According to Agile principles, Scrum is a project management framework that facilitates team communication and self-organization so that changes may be made fast.

Scrum Master Responsibilities

The scrum guide outlines the various functions that scrum masters can fulfill within the scrum team, although it does not include a comprehensive list of all possible duties. Scrum masters frequently carry out a number of the following tasks. For example:

Standups: As needed, lead the daily scrum or standups.

Meetings for sprint/iteration planning: Guard against scope creep and overcommitment on the part of the team. support the establishment of subtasks and estimation.

Sprint reviews: Attend the meeting and record the comments.

Empathy: It's critical to comprehend and feel the team's difficulties. Scrum masters must encourage and assist their teams when things get tough.

Problem-solving: Scrum masters frequently resolve disputes and obstacles. To keep the team on course, they need to be skilled at addressing problems and coming up with solutions. 

Adaptability: Scrum masters ought to be flexible and receptive to new ideas. They must adapt to the project's and the team's changing needs.

Time management: In order to keep the team on track and achieve sprint goals, scrum masters need to be skilled time managers.

Having someone in the role who has experience with scrum before can be quite beneficial when implementing scrum. Scrum masters are therefore frequently employed as consultants or part-timers rather than as full-time employees. Every scrum team is unique, though.

Will Devin AI Replace Software Engineers?

The emergence of ChatGPT and the fear of losing jobs has already impacted the tech market. And now Devin AI—that's agitating people. After it was released there was a sudden surge that would replace the jobs of Software Engineers. Software Engineers are nervous.

Devin AI is an artificial intelligence tool created by Cognition Labs. This tool is an "AI software developer tool" and is known for its software development skills which include unit testing, plan implementation, and source code production. It works as an AI assistant for Software Engineers or anyone working in this field as it is capable of modifying the way code is written, debugged, and deployed. Cognition also stated that it is the first of its type and can transform a basic command into a working website or software application.  As Devin is an assistance tool its dataset is needed to focus on the software engineers coding benchmark. According to a report, the dataset consists of 2,294 software engineering challenges that are taken from real GitHub issues and the pull requests that go with them. Now if we give a thought to this question of Devin AI replacing software engineers, it is actually something to think about. With its programming editor, command line, and browser, Devin operates independently. By breaking down tasks into smaller, more manageable chunks, it systematically implements software. It can also organize and carry out intricate engineering projects that require hundreds or even thousands of decisions.

I know all of these pointers add up in the favour of Devin but if I had to answer this question I would say that – No, Devin AI won't be able to replace all the software engineers in the next five years, but for sure it eliminates entry-level jobs. And after five years I am not sure as technology is evolving at a rapid pace so we never know what the future holds.

Devin AI is merely a self-sufficient software engineer or a tool designed to assist software engineers. It can access the code editor, browser, and shell, among other tools. It can write code in a coding editor, use a terminal to explore the web, and even learn from its mistakes additionally if the codebase is not a concern for you. It selects a language based on the objective. But can it do what a human mind can instantly think of in a problematic scenario? No, it can’t. Can it brainstorm and check different troubleshooting methods that with human mind is capable of? No, it can't. Devin works on given machine learning datasets so it lacks real-world problem-solving skills.

You are safe and sound until you keep upskilling yourself in this changing tech realm. I believe software engineers can get a lot of help from Devin AI at this stage. It is only useful in certain situations. Software engineers will continue to be required. Devin AI is still in its infancy and is unable to handle complicated real-world issues. And let's not forget that the creation of Devin AI is still a human creation. And we are capable of much more than we think of.
