You know I have a very specific and very personal reason I'm so opposed to Alfonse and Veronica as a romantic pairing and it's 100% based in projection like.
Yeah yeah yeah we can speculate and estimate ages whatever whatever, we know Alfonse and Sharena are considered adults via dialogue from Book 4 ("It's been at least ten years since we were children") and I've heard Bridal (Dress Up. I like to believe she's playing dress up w her lesbian moms) Sanaki has a dialogue about Veronica currently being around her age (12-13) (Veronica is a little older now I think most recent Book but that's besides the point I'm talking when they first met -- which honestly could have been earlier pre-events that have occurred in the story but we don't know that).
But where it gets really specific Is: I'm the youngest in my family I would constantly tag along with my older siblings who were in high school when I was 12-13 and well. Wouldn't it just be fucking weird????????? Like I'm imagining even as I am now, someone from my sisters' friend group in highschool deciding "Oh yeah no he's kinda cute actually" but the Guy In Question (me) was literally 12 when they met me. Like. Yeah I'm a completely different person (comes w growing up and transing your gender) but that's still weird. Right??????? Like especially if you're a long time friend like that like. Motherfucker would have watched me grow up. Weird as shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Fire Emblem Heroes Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Alfonse/Bruno | Zacharias Characters: Alfonse (Fire Emblem), Bruno | Zacharias, Other(s) Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Rock Band, Alternate Universe - Modern Setting Series: Part 3 of brufonse week 2020 Published: 2020-10-22 Word Count: 4275 Summary:
Despite everything, Bruno had the idle thought, on more than a few occasions, to try and reconnect with Alfonse. At the very least, it wouldn’t come off as someone trying to take advantage of a former acquaintance’s newfound fame, but that had never been Bruno’s concern, anyway.
No, what had been his concern was that they had drifted apart so suddenly, and everything in Bruno’s life had changed.
If Alfonse saw Bruno now, he certainly wouldn’t recognize his former friend. Thirteen years would do that, he supposed.
happy brufonse week, my thoughts on this fic are under the cut
okay so one. your eyes do NOT deceive you, this IS a 4000+ word one-shot from me! it could’ve been even longer but i was trying not to like go overboard for brufonse week. still as much as i like this and am proud of it i am thinking that at some point i might want to... expand this out. make a chaptered fic of it because there is SO MUCH DETAIL that i had to leave out to keep this from taking me months to write and so many details i would’ve loved to have the place to fit in
so setting details. they’re both alternative bands but they’re different genres that fit under the alternative music umbrella. i did not go into this because i didn’t wanna waste everyone’s time by going on a multi-paragraph explanation of the intricacies of the millions of different alternative genres. i also know basically how these bands sound but i can’t describe it without bringing up specific bands, at least for zenith, and the one band that has the specific Sound i was thinking of ended up being shitty so. i can say that golden wings is like a lot lighter a band. not pop punk exactly but might have a bit of that influencing it. zenith is more dramatic. stage presence of the black parade-era mcr, but not quite the sound since i imagine zenith is a bit lighter. yes i’m sorry i have to talk about band shit when discussing this fic
as you could guess, the interviewer talking to alfonse is peony. bruno doesn’t know her name so in the fic neither do we since we’re following his pov
originally i was thinking of writing the beginning bit, the interview, from alfonse’s perspective but i ended up not doing that because i figured that this fic would be better/easier to write from bruno’s pov
i kind of wish i had the chance to involve other characters more, but because i basically had to keep a lot to the core of the story i couldn’t quite do that. as such i didn’t get to elaborate on things like bruno and helbindi’s friendship, or eir and sharena at all
laegjarn knows bruno didn’t watch the entire interview because he didn’t have the reaction she would have expected of him
i know who does what in each band also. this did not get to be relevant in the fic itself so it’s here now
GOLDEN WINGS alfonse - lead singer, guitar kiran - bass sharena - drums anna - manager
ZENITH bruno - lead singer, guitar laegjarn - bass helbindi - drums eir - backing vocals, rhythm guitar loki - manager
i am skipping around a lot because some sections of this fic i don’t have much to say about. ngl VERY early on in the planning for this fic (if you can call it planning) i had the idea to turn the plot twist of book 1 on its head, that bruno is zacharias, by having alfonse know The Whole Time. so i was super pleased to have that work out. i also knew from the start i wanted bruno to not see the entire interview and miss where alfonse was confessing his love
the last section of the fic is the weakest, i think. i probably could’ve just cut it out but i really wanted to get over 4000 words on this fic. but honestly you might be able to tell i was just trying really hard to wrap it up. it’s still kind of sweet and i don’t think it’s BAD it’s just my least favorite personally
i like this fic a lot for what it is, i’m proud of it for being my longest one-shot. i could probably have more to say about it but i’m fucking exhausted i got like 3 hours of sleep total today. the last thing i rly wanna say abt this is that it’s like... not a slow burn but ONLY because the length of the fic meant it couldn’t be. if i had the time and patience and energy to devote to making it chaptered it would almost definitely be long enough to consider slow burn
i also can’t pick a favorite section because i like too much of this to choose just one

FEH Villains Ranked
from best to worst, excluding book 4 cause its still ongoing
lif: genuinely surprised me by being an alfonse with pathos. well he started book 3 as a kinda generic number 2 type, the revelation of his identity as alfonse (though rather obvious at that point) as well as his goal of essentially destroying other worlds as a penance to restore his own is both suitably threatening and tragic. Creating that sense of pathos i mentioned that works so well for him, especially when hes shown to still be a kind person at heart thats been pushed into such horrific actions because of the devastation he had to endure. Especially when you consider that hes carrying the weapon that could kill hel with him which, although kinda lazy that he just has it, is a) a hel of a lot less contrived then anything book 2 pulled off and b) further deepens that sense of pathos when we consider that not only is it a memento of ‘player san’ and presumably everyone else hes lost but that it can also represent, in a way, a symbol of his own failure of will and bowing the knee to hel. Him prioritizing his own happiness and fulfillment in the form of hel resurrecting his world over the good of the ‘fe multiverse’. Point being, its a complexity of character that I honestly wish we got to see more of, and one I really wasn’t expecting from fe heroes given its track record. you’ll see what i mean down the road.
hel: well not terribly complex in motivation, she basically just wants to kill everything to increase her own power, she gets points for a strong presentation and utilization within the story book 3 creates. The limitations on her insta death power being kinda silly aside, though gustavs gambit to circumvent that i honestly really like more so then alfonses rules lawyering, the overhanging presence she has in the lives of book 3′s characters works really well and the pressure to defeat her because of her effectively endless legions works better as an overhanging threat anyways. When I say presentation though I mean more so in how her words, actions, and motivation intersect because well her words on the face of it have the usual villain posturing, her motivation and actions (such as her relation to eir and her generals, and the world she rules over and created) creates an interesting intersection where one can argue that her posturing words are empty of any true feeling. Shes cold and lifeless like the dead she rules and the world she creates, those around her are simply tools to an end but hardly in a cackling manner and more so in the unthinking manner one treats a toothpick. she gets angry or shocked but even then its in a muted manner, almost performing the emotions rather then truly feeling them. Hel lives in an unchanging world, a stillness brought on by the finality of death, and in a way one can argue that its her unspoken desire to spread that stillness, that perfect unchanging world she controls, to every world. Like lif, its a degree of complexity that I wish we got to see more of, especially in her case, and its something i honestly wasnt expecting from heroes.
helbindi: solely because the man goes through a lot of shit, and is an effective portrayal of a sympathetic villain. Hes effectively a camus if a camus was foul mouthed and more thuggish and that works for him, and is rather endearing in its own way when he acts concerned for his little sister and does the ‘im a thug who hugs kittens when no ones looking’ routine which i like when its done well. point being, he could have been a generic thug but hes a lot more interesting for not being one. However, his general pointlessness to the story, aside from giving us an indication that shock of shocks surtrs a shitty king and an excuse to escort ylgir around places who also does jack shit in the story... heroes is always going to suffer from having to compress its story telling but that fact they waste so much time with helbindi and ylgir and hrud when so much of what they do is either unnecessary to the story or themes present in book 2 or could have been given to other characters and make those characters better for it... helbindi gets to be up here for sympathy points and favoritism, but i am stretching here for ya mate.
thrasir: stronger character wise then helbindi, an interesting relation to lif of enemies turned into close friends over a shared trauma and servitude, plays into some of the same strengths of hel and lif that make them so engaging, yadda, yadda, yadda. So why is she below helbindi? because she doesnt get to do anything, and only starts to get interesting right before her death. If she had been given a bigger role comparable to lif, or just more time to stew in her own motivations she’d easily surpass helbindi. its also not helped that thrasirs own desire to resurrect her brother is similar to veronicas pre established selfishness, which isnt as strong a contrast as lifs selfishness and guilt against alfonses character. Her relation to lif does hint at a stronger sense of kidness and morality instilled within her because of that relation, which is interesting and would make a strong contrast against veronica, but again we get like five seconds of it before shes killed off and then a little more of it again at the end. Deserved more time on screen then she got, and would have probably been number 2 here if she had gotten it.
veronica: bratty child becomes evil sorcerer emperor, more at 11. I like the concept of veronica, its something fes never really touched on much aside from maybe a little bit with julius with his more childish antics. Veronica however cranks that up a lot more, shes impatient and gets bored easily, she wants more friends but in a selfish ‘friend is someone who does everything I want right?’ way, shes emblas ruler and she has the emotional maturity of an evil 10 year old and i just kinda like it. Especially since she tempers it with an air of sophistication and intelligence, much like the classic evil sorcerers fe loves to utilize in villain roles, and it helps balance out the bratty child from being too annoying in the villain role. It helps lend a sense of her trying to present herself as a grown up for the respect and authority that brings, well simultaneously maintain all the perks of being a kid who gets everything she wants. It’s a shame then that the narrative keeps sidelining her, either by focusing on other villains, her god damn brother getting in the fucking way, or with the overhanging implications of magic dragon possession being the root cause of her behavior. I can forgive the magic dragon possession though since that is an fe staple and could works towards more interesting character aspects rather then undercutting her. Regardless, she sure is great when things are actually about her, and i really wish things would get back to being about her.
Laegjarn: solely here because she loves her sister, shes rather flat as a character otherwise. It would have been one thing if she displayed a sense of brutality instilled in her by a childhood being raised by surtr, only dropping the shell when it came to her sister and reigning herself in for the sake of that one familial bond she treasures... instead shes just kinda nice and loves her sister, and yet still works for surtr for some fucking reason. @agoddamn and @ezralahm mention an aspect of learned helplessness to xanders character in fates that people tend to gloss over (heaven knows why, cause its fairly in your face even in the english translation), and that should be something that comes across in laegjarn, but its doesnt really. not as much as it should anyways. Another victim of book 2′s pointless writing.
loki: evil sexy lady with big boobies and a one leg cutout tights pants thing. heres someone who can transform into anyone, and yet she never really does anything with it. oh she does ‘things’, just not things that have much point to them, or really feel like they fit into some larger scheme. she’d be right at home as a recurring villain in an episodic story, coming up with some inane scheme for todays episode that gets foiled and she gets sent ‘blasting off again’. I dont necessarily hate the sexy seductress character, the noire bombshells and the like, they can be fun when done well. loki just doesnt do it well, coming off as more grating and annoying then tempting honestly, and as a villain she lacks anykind of actual menace. My feelings on her are similar to my feelings on aversa honestly, heres someone who should be so cool and threatening, a real menace to the heroes using their skills and abilities behind the scenes to move threats against the heroes, never taking to the field unless they can benefit from it and have an assured chance of victory or safety... but then they never actually do anything, as any of the actions possibly attributable to them either happen offscreen or probably would have happened without them doing anything. Loki and aversa could have stayed home twiddling their thumbs and nothing would change, and thats the real shame about them. Doesn’t help they aren’t particularly fun or entertaining as villains either due to lackluster writing.
surtr: garon 2.0, but with even less complexity. Well garon may have been a blatantly evil prick, he at least had backstory that provoked some degree of complexity and even sympathy, both to him and those hurt by his evil dragon possession personality change. Surtr lacks even that, acting more like a petty thug given way to much power then an imposing ruler. He garon without the backstory complexity, and in a way hes walhart without the air of regality and charisma that helped elevate walhart from being god awful in his own right. And well it could have been interesting if the story made any attempts to comment on that or work it into a central story theme or flow of some sort, it doesnt really do that and instead treats him as if he has and indeed deserves the same credibility and impression walhart or garon or any of the other fire emblem emperor kings have left. But the game doesnt ever actually work for that with him. Hes the emeperor, so he automatically deserves respect as a villain. and thats... so typical of book 2′s writing.
laevatein: shes boring as sin, even with her relation to her sister and the tragedy of losing her. Like her sister, she would have benefited from an impression of learned helplessness but the game never really bothers with it. moving on because i can barely give a shit about her.
bruno: this mother fucker... an annoying detraction that overtakes veronicas spotlight and screentime, an excuse for alfonse wangst that never really lands, pointless and useless... the benefit of book 2 and 3 so far has been his reduced importance, but i fully expect him to come roaring back to steal veronicas position once the story shifts back to an area she should be the focus of. the only thing he has going for him is the sense of a camus struggling with dragon possession but thats more so used for alfonse wangst then it is for anything constructive. What do i mean by alfonse wangst? I mean angst that really serves no narrative purpose then for the sake of unnecessary melodrama, as opposed to informing us anything about the characters or themes of the story. he makes veronica look worse, his drama with alfonse is a waste of time, and he really provides nothing else then a recurring boss fight and get out of jail free card for the story. I’m putting him below laevatein because well i dont give much of a shit about her, she atleast doesnt actively annoy me and still had the potential for something. Bruno however? the story would be better off without him. So fuck him.

M!Robin x Summoner!Reader rank C headcanons
Some hcs for if a M!Robin and the reader reached rank C in summoner support. Heavily based off of the interactions in Fire Emblem Heroes, just with a few extra things. It's unprompted but I wanted to post something as FEH just gave me waves of inspiration!
~Snack
Most of your nights already consisted of settling down in the castle’s library and scratching notes on parchment of the heroes you’ve summoned, allies they’ve mentioned in passing, but more importantly, any information you were able to gather about the opposing forces. Now, however, you find yourself to have some company while doing so.
Tumblr media
It hadn’t been long after you first summoned Robin, that he and you began to bond over long sessions of strategic planning. It started with him offering to help you lighten your own workload, to the two of you tag teaming theoretical expeditions, but several events happened prior to that arrangement. There weren’t as many heroes before Robin found himself inside the stone fortress, so you insisted on doing the planning alone, wanting what few heroes you had to train in the tower as much as they could. Being the sole tactician was proving to be strenuous over time, but even then you were not quick to accept his aid. To get around your stubbornness he would, in his words, ”just happen to be exactly where you are while you are working. The library is for everyone to use you know.” He would say while leaning over your shoulder, behind the chair you were slouching in, just to add, “oh, and in that scenario, if you placed me there instead, I could easily take him down.”
Tumblr media
It was nice having a lighthearted, albeit teasing interaction, but if that was not enough to open your eyes, he would certainly argue that two sets of them would work far more efficiently than one that’s clearly overworked, trying to solve the same scenario using no differing strategies, fifty times over. As much as you hated to admit it, he had a point. Eventually, if you kept this up, you’d collapse from exhaustion, or just generally break down from the stress of it all. After one more comment from him, that’s exactly what you found yourself doing.
Tumblr media
“I have no memories from before the time I met Chrom. But I still have a fine mind for tactics. Oh, you too? How intriguing.” To most, it might seem out of the blue, but that was the last push you needed to realize your own distress. Torn from your friends, your family, your life as a whole, to be thrown to the wolves in a war-torn fantasy world where people STILL used swords and to make things even more hard to grasp, here they also rode on DRAGONS.
Hell, it turns out according to what Anna said, some heroes ARE dragons. After listening to your venting, Robin seemed to understand your feelings, being more mindful when around you. He was patient, eyeing you as your breathing started to slow, gathering his own thoughts. Sure he was taken from his world, but it was still the same reality, it abided by the laws he learnt when at Chrom’s side. “...(Y/N), please...sit down...” He gestured to the chair you had gotten out of in the heat of the moment, his words bringing you back to reality. Talking to him like this, it helped you through a lot, even if he had no idea what a car, cellphone or karaoke was, he still listened.
Tumblr media
It took some time, but after calming down you figured you reached the route of the problem. Robin would assure you that everyone there believes in you but more importantly, would do whatever they could to protect you. You weren’t alone in this, there wasn’t a reason to hide away and handle it all yourself.
The feeling in the room shifted to being rather light-hearted, him taking your mind off of things for a while. From talking about Anna’s latest money-making scheme that failed miserably, or Alfonse’s mishap with a scarecrow that Sharena strategically placed in his room, to how Alfonse compared the two of you. “Well you're both tacticians, you wear an ominous cloak and have little to no memory of your past. He mentioned this not even a week after Robin’s arrival, bringing it up when he had seen the two of you working closely to determine Veronica’s next move. Robin and you chuckled over the memory, gesturing to how still to this day you chose to wear the garb in question.
You remembered that Sharena had picked up on how in sync the two of you were, saying something along the lines of, “it’s not just about the whole planning thing, it’s like at this point you don’t even exchange words you just know. You know what the other is thinking without even trying.” To which Anna added in passing that if it weren’t for the fact that you couldn’t fight, Robin and you would make a pretty good team.
That was enough to spark something in Robin. He set down his tome on the table immediately, grasping your attention. “Anna’s right.” You looked at him curiously, the cloak covering your features, but the tilt of your head gave it away. “She was right about...what exactly?” You weren’t sure if this was about being a great team or... disappointed that you, the summoner, were not capable of fighting in this domain. That was until he got up from his seat and leaned closer to you from across the table. “We make an undeniably good team (Y/N), which had me thinking. Some of the heroes who fight day to day together, they’ve started supporting each other...and so...” He paused briefly, gauging your current reaction and continued. “(Y/N), will you support me? And allow me to support you.” You had to take a minute to reflect on what it was he was asking you to do, after all, you were the summoner, someone with no weapons on hand. “Robin I...You know that I can’t fight, so then how would this hel-” Without letting you come up with your own conclusion he picked up where he left off. “(Y/N), you being there by my side, that’s enough for me. I promise. With you there the expeditions will be twice as successful, we may be able to free other heroes from their contracts. I know that with your support, I will be a better tactician.”
Tumblr media
Although it was unheard of, as you’ve never personally supported a hero before, you agreed. This would help the both of you, and in turn, your army. You couldn’t wait to start the next day by Robin’s side, helping him find tomes in the library that could be of use and observing him train in the tower, owning his skills as both a mage and as a tactician.
Tumblr media
Author's note!
So long story short as to why this took forever to post, I ended up breaking my phone which had the whole thing on it. This includes being unable to play the game as well. I’m currently working on getting that on my laptop instead so I can still play because dammit, I finally got Robin, not gonna let that go to waste.
Robin is one of my favorites (along with countless other characters, FE doesn’t have a shortage of them), but I’m still new to the series as a whole imo.
Also funny thing, I’m not summoner supporting M!Robin, it’s actually a different character. However, one of my best friends is supporting Robin and sends me screenshots. It was so cute I just couldn’t not write something!

666 Celebration Results!
With 90 votes, and about 700 followers, this is over 10% of my follower's opinions, so I hope it accounts for the majority.
Tumblr media
With nearly 30% of the vote and a total of 26 votes, Hrid is our winner!
Coming in second (and yesterday he was tied with Hird) is Tibarn!
Following him in third is everyone's favorite bench boy, Alfonse!
Zelgius (who, was also funnily enough tied with Ike for the majority of this) came in fourth!
And finally, coming in last is Ike. Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll get your day Ike!
Only 6 people (about 7% of the vote) were not attracted to men.
As for the kinks, that survey only got 48 votes. But, I decided to take the top 3 kinks from that.
With nearly 70% of people voting for it, breeding got an astounding 30 votes, making it the number one kink, and voted for thing on either poll!
Coming in second with just over 50% of votes is size difference! I was a bit surprised to see this one, and I’m unsure how I’m gonna make this work with Hrid because he’s a twink but... Yeah, it’s second!
And finally, with 45% of votes, coming in third is creampie!
But, on the in case I feel like I can’t work size difference into this fic, our 4th place contender with just over 30% of votes is dom/sub!
Now, for the women!
Tumblr media
It was a very hard fought battle for her, and it also took me by surprise, but Laegjarn is our first place winner, with 23% of votes, and 21 votes overall.
Coming in second place is Fem Grima, who I was sure the entire time would be our winner (but Laegjarn came in last second to steal it!)
Coming in third, with 9 votes is Aversa!
And finally, tied for 4th is out big tiddy queens, Camilla and Loki! They each got 7 votes.
At nearly 30%, over a quarter of my (female) followers are not attracted to women. That’s 26 women, more votes than Leagjarn even got!
As for kinks, the women went much differently than the men. Again, this survey only got 48 votes!
With just over 60% of the vote, coming in at first is praise (giving/receiving)!
Following it at 16 votes, with 42% of the vote for both of them, in second is both dom/sub, and edging/orgasm denial!
And finally, coming in third is restraints with just under 40% of the vote!
As a little bonus, here are some of my favorite responses to “who do you want to win and why?” This is just some of them, but just over a third of you guys gave responses to this, so thanks <3
“Aversa because she deserves nice things”
“I want laegjarn to win because 1) she would treat me Right and 2)I dont really like the other women except aversa. Camilla is ok maybe.”
“Tibarn because he has a great personality😉. nah, I want him to win because he has that big dick energy I need in my life to beat my depression. also, chicken wings”
“Idk lol I’m just horny “
“ Tibarn because how can you look at him and not feel hot? This man is the very definition of hunk and he can raw me every single day of his life. Loki bc tiddy is great and she's so beautiful lol”
“Camilla cause im wicked dumb for pretty girls with biceps”
“Zelgius. That guy is the man of my dreams. Hunk, aggresive and a total bratty submissive. Really makes my sadistic grinds going!”
“alfonse- Bench Boy needs recognition! Also who wouldn't want to see that face twisted in pleasure? (But also all of the others b/c I'm a disaster)”
“tibarn because i’m horny and dumb”
“Zelgius because he is a great character and deserves all the love we as mortals can give to him”
“Anything is good as long as we get to see your writing, it’s HELLA GREAT”
I have to say, this has been a lot of fun; not just this 666 celebration, but this blog in general! You guys are really important to me, as is this blog, and it just warms my heart so see how much I’ve grown since I started this blog in August. Here’s to being horny, and let’s make it to the next mile stone: 1000!

cyl 6 reaction time!
I need to finish my shadow dragon playthrough so I can finally have an opinion on Tiki. I know she’s popular, frankly I’m surprised she didn’t win already what with her many alts, but I have next to no impression of her. I never recruited her in Awakening, but mostly because I didn’t try that hard since I had no prior attachment.
Female Byleth is my favorite player avatar, so yay for that.
y’know, Bernadetta was the first 3H character I ever recruited, and for a number of playthroughs after that I was never without her. My attachment to her has cooled a lot, but I still like her, so I guess I’m happy for her.
Side note, I get that people are salty about 3H being over-represented, but, well...idk I guess it kinda can’t be helped. It’s the most widely played, it has all of those fully voiced supports, it made gobs of money...I’ll say what I’ve said before, if it’s keeping the franchise afloat, I’m happy. Popular Three Houses means more people playing Heroes, which means more people learning about the other characters, and also people just taking an interest in the other games, which means better likelihood of remakes. Everyone wins! ...but yeah I get there’s too much 3H in FEH. I can finally say for certain they’ve stopped being my favorite cast (thanks Blazing Blade). But they’re still special to me.
An Anna made it in! I didn’t see how the Anna votes are being tallied, are they all being counted individually or are they being funneled into the Awakening one? Anyway I don’t love her but I do like her, and she doesn’t seem like a meme vote at all at least.
I almost wish Tharja was winning so we could just get that out of the way. :/
Happy for Elincia and Caeda, but super happy for Nino!! Maybe next year I’ll vote for her, she might be the current top 40 contender I have the most attachment to after Soren.
Chrom really deserves this. I mean, as much as a fictional character can deserve anything. He waited long enough, he deserves to be number one. Mostly because it will make Lucina happy.
Felix is still one of my favorite 3H characters, and just one of my favorite FE characters in general, and I just want a base unit for him in the game. With him this high on the list I’m sure we’ll get that, whether he gets a brave this time or not.
SOREN!! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*✲゚*。⋆
I also like Yuri a lot. He would’ve been higher on my like list if he’d been in the main game and just had more writing, I think. The Cindered Shadows writing was...um. On par with Fates. Take that as you will. And then I didn’t love his supports in the game proper. The Ashen Wolves still all feel like afterthoughts...since they were. But still, even with all that, there was enough good characterization in there that I like him a lot. Also fuckiing love his Japanese VA’s performance if you haven’t heard it please-
*Face in hands* Sylvain...yeesh. So uh, I guess I’d say he is one of the best-written characters in 3H, because I understand why he’s popular and I have some attachment to him, and I simultaneously want to push in in a lake. (Inappropriate given his backstory, I know.) Whatever. It’s fine. He’s fine. This is fine.
I had thought like “what Alfonse is on here but not Lif” and then laughed thinking “what if Lif’s votes are being counted for Alfonse.” I know they can’t be but it was still funny to me.
Uhhh no strong feelings about 11-20 I guess, I like Lyon and Leo tho.
And that’s it I guess! This is my first CYL and it’s been an absolute blast, I love seeing everyone get hyped about their favs, desperately campaign for underdogs, all the fanart...I hear there’s a lot of garbage under the surface with people being nasty to each other, which is a shame, but I’m surprised I haven’t seen it in person I guess. As for me, I have no strong feelings about someone I think should’ve placed higher except for Limstella but honestly I’m terrified if they rank high they’ll be assigned a Gəndər, so I’m just excited to see who wins! I did not expect to write this much!

Fire Emblem Warriors thoughts
12-16 hours, DONE! At least with story mode, I still have history mode and all the unlockable characters to get through.
I’m sure the main Dynasty Warriors games are good. They should be if companies keep making spin-offs based on them, but my general thoughts on these Dynasty Warriors spin-offs is that they’re fun diversions but they get repetitive without any decent hook, either in the story or gameplay. I played Dynasty Warriors Gundam 1 back when I was young and Dragon Quest Heroes in preparation for this game. From what I remember of DW Gundam, it’s that I liked it for the first few hours till it got stale, but I’ll always remember the original mode. The interactions (always loved seeing the Zechs, Puru, and Domon), the scenarios, and it was the first time I saw stuff like G Gundam and most early-UC shows. Dragon Quest Heroes is one I really enjoyed for the gameplay and bits and pieces of character interaction. It felt a tower defense game, where you get medals to summon monsters as your sentry, it really livened up the combat. Lastly, because I was more familiar with DQ, I got to understand all the fanservice, references, and the joy seeing my favorite DQ characters interact with each other. So, now that is the context of where I’m coming from in terms of DW games is clear, what did I think of FE Warriors?
First up is the negatives of the game.
Story mode was pretty bare-bones, which I expected but I was hoping for a little more flavoring in what little meat I got. The plot was pretty average: Young Lords, Chaos Dragon, obvious betrayal, etc. all that stuff you’d see in a FE game, but what really made the whole story come out as “meager” for me, was the lack of cross-game interaction and involvement in the main plot. There are brief bits of cross-game interaction, like Lissa talking to Oboro or Camilla praising Robin, but they’re brief and there’s little impact on the plot. This is important because this is a chance to either flesh out the characters out of their element or give us a pair that we’d never thought about, but now we want to see more. I go back to the Zechs, Puru, and Domon group from DW Gundam. They were all from different series, had different alignments, and completely different personalities, but seeing them work together, and even get out of their comfort zone by acting out of character really made them stand-out.
But what about the Supports? That’s a problem, cause by relegating the fun and interesting interactions there the player will miss out and the story will suffer. You have to work to get them, which is harder since maps last longer, rates feels slower, and for all that hard work you get 3 minutes of character portraits talking to each other. It’s ok in regular FE because there’s more opportunities to raise levels, you get more talk, and it mostly helps side characters. Let me put it this way, would you rather see Frederick fix Leo’s collar in a text box and read about it, or fully animated while you’re in the game?
The characters in Warriors are should be an ensemble, meaning their skills, personalities, and talents are equally spread out and given a proper time to shine. This is not helped by what keeps the characters we want to see together, the main characters. My friend who only plays FE Heroes, likes Dynasty Warriors, and doesn’t like Rowan character design, helped me put it into words: “They feel like discount Sharena and Alfonse.” I agree with that, cause there’s not much to Rowan and Lianna. Aside from what they are (twins, royals of the kingdom, etc.), who they are is lost on me. Rowan gets off better, cause he has aspirations and liking to knights, but that doesn’t change the fact that they are pretty much there. Since a large chunk of the plot is about them, we got less time to get a feel out of the Heroes.
Going to DQ Heroes, I got more fun out of Luceus and Aurora, the male and female characters of that game. Now, Luceus thing was he prattled on complicated battle strategies (something I wish Robin did in the game) and took an analytical look, and Aurora was his foil that summed up his plan and just attacked and did what she felt was needed. What made them so fun to watch was how we saw those interactions during a supposedly tense moment, and it lightens up the mood and brings up the energy for hack and slash.
Another thing, voices are repetitive, especially in menus.
I saw a piece of trivia on how Rowan and Lianna were made sword users to help with the tutorials. I can see why they did it, but I have a better idea: how about making them wield all the different weapons? It lessens the oversaturation of sword users, it really make them feel like our avatar, and allows some variety in the animations. Though rigging up 5 different weapon animations seems like a hassle…
The last big negative is how many characters have little to do. This is most apparent with Marth’s group as, aside from some scenes including one with Darios, they really don’t do much in terms of the plot. In fact, now that I think about it, even the other groups don’t much to do either. The most I remember is moral support and speeches, but for active and direct actions? Not much. Takumi disarming Darios, the Shepherds teaching the group, Sakura finding a cure for Rowan, snapping Corrin out, and the Gleamstones, those all are out of the top of my head. I’m glad Celica and Lyn aren’t in Story mode cause they’d have even less to do! I doubt adding more character from the other FE games would help. With a plot this thin, I doubt we’d see more of, say, Ike that we’d see of any other character. I guess if you want to see the older cast, that’s what FE Heroes is for.
There definitely could’ve been more to the story. At best, it’s ok. I think the problem was the story was too serious. In the above DW spinoffs, while it had dramatic moments, there was a lighter or fun tone in all of them. Cause you’re reveling in all the carnage, fanservice, and characters. The story of Warriors didn’t feel like that, it just felt like another cut-out FE story, and that’s sad. If it joked around for more scenes (one or two scenes of Owain and Niles don’t count), maybe the bland story would’ve been more forgivable.
So that means I hated FE Warriors, right? NOPE
It actually surpassed my expectations!
A big part of that is the gameplay. With the added FE elements, it manages to turn the rather repetitive combat into a tactical action RPG. First, the weapon triangle means you have to think who engages what. You defeat enemies faster and easier when you have the advantage, and vice-versa. This means team composition is crucial, giving you some thought in who you pick. Do you add archers cause there are fliers? Do you add mages cause there are dragons? Can I deal with being at a disadvantage? Combine this with the second: Commanding units, and you got something just like a FE game. During gameplay you can command your units to attack certain enemies or defend forts. You cannot ignore this and power through, you have to manage your units to efficiently win. This means you have to constantly go to the map and give orders, lest you have the AI dilly-dally, and pay attention who’s attacking what. For example, Takumi is guarding that fort, so I’ll order Corrin to kill him but not let Camilla go anywhere near him since he’ll shoot her down (Fun Fact: I did defeat Takumi with Camilla). Add to the fact the AI, which can handle themselves competently (though you do have to wrestle with it a lot), takes a while to defeat enemies, then you really have to do a lot of the work with your 4 playable characters to get the job done. This leads to a very engaging and frantic juggling act, and makes the core gameplay really solid.
Next, the pair up system was a really useful feature. You pair up two units and that unit will be your sword and shield. It adds another layer of strategy to your fight since now you can swap between a sword and a lance user to easily adapt to the situation. It comes at a cost though, as it cuts your commandable units. So that’s another thing to consider, losing a possible defender. Plus, the dual guard makes attacks not hit you and it is a life saver when you’re completing Anna missions that require you to not get hit.
The maps were also impressive. Taking advantage of fliers ability to, well, fly as well as using Dragonveins to improve the map for you units. It’s a really nice touch. There weren’t too many spaces without enemies, so there’s always something to do.
Let’s talk technical, because on the Switch it’s amazing. A steady framerate while docked (you can pick between 30 or 60 FPS), and undocked it works just as well. Especially with local co-op. I was impressed on how it ran undocked with two players. A little choppier, but it remains consistent and having a buddy around enhances the tactical edge, since you have to coordinate your actions.
History Mode was another thing I like. I haven’t completed it since I’m underleveled, but I am enjoying it more than Story Mode. On a FE map (complete with sprites), you select enemies like they’re missions and defeating certain enemies expands your area. The challenge here is to get S-Ranks to get Master Seals and other good stuff. It’s missions like defeat 500 enemies, or only use magic users, is varied enough to keep me interested, and there’s some story bits in it that seems interesting. Female Robin makes an appearance in the Awakening map, with Male Robin and Chrom watching in astonishment, it’s an interesting angle to say the least.
Finally, it’s the polish. The stunning animation, how it runs, how good the cutscenes look, and just how it feels like Fire Emblem. I had the same feeling with FE Heroes. Different format, same series, wonderful feel.
So in the end, I wasn’t expecting much, but I got more than what I asked and I definitely recommend it. Now I’ll just wait for my beautiful wife, and hope the next FE game on the Switch comes soon!
Now, let’s do the odyssey~

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Fire Emblem Heroes Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Alfonse/Hríd (Fire Emblem) Characters: Alfonse (Fire Emblem), Hríd (Fire Emblem) Additional Tags: Pre-Relationship, Cats Published: 2019-10-02 Word Count: 686 Summary:
When Hríd joined the Order of Heroes, Sharena had to take the time to assure him that no, Alfonse didn’t hate him, he was just always that prickly at first. “He’ll warm up to you!” she said, before reaching down to pet one of the cats that had been following her around. “He’s just like one of these kitties!” Somehow, Hríd found that hard to believe.
day 3 for @ferarepair-week tho it’s late. my commentary on this under the cut
so despite just writing 5 fics p much consecutively for brufonse week, i decided i should try to participate even a little in fe rarepair week
if i hadn’t just done brufonse week i probably would’ve written brufonse for this but i didn’t wanna burn myself out and i had a cute hridfonse idea so. i wrote it
i also maaaaaaybe have another fic in the works for tomorrow so. keep an eye out for that
anyway i mentioned in the notes that i had the idea for stray cats over askr castle long before 3h came out and that’s actually true. originally my server discussed it as a brufonse idea, that alfonse started taking care of the strays after zacharias left as a coping mechanism sort of thing and ended up adopting a bunch of them
well. this is for a different ship so that’s not it here but the base idea of “alfonse takes care of a bunch of cats” is still there
i think this is, aside from those three-sentence fics, the first time i’ve finished writing smth w/ hrid? (yes this means i have wips w/ hrid in them that haven’t been finished. idk if those’ll ever get finished tho and this is) he’s fun to write, i love him
ngl writing abt alfonse w/ cats has warmed my heart. peak soft content. god bless
also the part abt alfonse being “prickly” is like. he is But Also yeah he wasn’t super jazzed abt hrid when he first joined the order bc of a certain part of book 2. he was like civil and it wasn’t like he really HATED hrid but... yeah
anyway yeah. another fic tomorrow hopefully, and then i got an idea for a more seasonal fic i might write but we’ll see about that
favorite part:  Of course, the cats were at Alfonse’s heels the second he knelt down to place the plate on the ground for them. The sight made something stir in Hríd’s chest, the way Alfonse seemed completely at ease with these kittens crawling and climbing all over him. He even laughed, picking up one of the smallest ones when it tried biting at his fingers.
“I… how do you get them to do that, exactly?” Hríd asked, trying not to look hurt when he reached out towards one of the cats, only to be rebuffed in favor of Alfonse.
“Do what?” Alfonse questioned, and it was almost unfair how sweet he looked like that, his eyes wide, the kitten in his hands reaching out with one paw to touch his nose.

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Fire Emblem Heroes Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Alfonse/Summoner | Eclat | Kiran Characters: Alfonse (Fire Emblem), Summoner | Eclat | Kiran Additional Tags: Mistletoe Published: 2018-12-08 Word Count: 663 Summary:
“I’m just not fond of that… tradition.”
“What, you mean mistletoe?”
“Yes, that,” Alfonse said, his voice pitching upwards in embarrassment.
(Kiran hangs up mistletoe.)
my thoughts under the cut, yes i’m aware this is a christmas fic and this tumblr post is being written in march
okay first of all, in my defense, while i am writing this post in march, the fic itself was posted in december. and i still get kudos on it despite it being months past christmas. so there
also this blog didn’t exist in december and i’d feel bad skipping this fic in my commentary thing. like. i could just draft this and hope i remember in december but then i’d have to draft my other christmas fic, and my birthday/valentines day fic, which i do not want to do. so. post about a christmas fic in march. time’s fake anyway who cares
UUUUUH i wrote this for a christmas challenge thing someone on the brufonse server set up, called askrmas. tbh i thought initially that the challenge would be entirely brufonse but in the end it’s probably for the best it wasn’t, because uh i wrote kiralfonse instead!
which is good because tbh this fandom’s kinda lacking in gay kiralfonse content. i should write more but i don’t... have many ideas
okay being honest i’m... not big on this fic? i wrote it in 3 days and almost had to post it without geo beta-reading for me which would’ve been Disastrous. geo makes all my fics good and i really appreciate them for that
i’m kind of running off the assumption that time is measured the same, or at least pretty damn close, on zenith and in our world. i did briefly debate with myself whether that’s true or not because, once more, time is fake, but in the end i just decided to do whatever’s easiest for me. it’s self-care
alright i will admit i think it’s hilarious the way i wrote alfonse SO reluctant to even get close to kiran because of the mistletoe. it’s good. i’d feel bad for talking about my own writing like this but that’s literally (part of) the point of these commentary posts
this and the polyship week fics were written before i decided to start trying to define my summoner as a character. i knew some of the basics but i didn’t have anything TRULY in mind? now i have a character sheet filled out for him though. yet i still refuse to describe how he appears in fics or even use his actual name (kiran is a nickname for him and, conveniently, he tends to use it more than his real name) because i try to make it as easy as possible for other people to project their summoners on mine?
though i guess then i probably should be writing gender neutral kiran instead. well. too bad. mine’s real and he’s trans (wow big shock) and he’s in all my fics involving the summoner
(side note, i have considered writing nb kiran since there seems to be very few ship fics involving an explicitly nb kiran? most fics just seem to be gender neutral at most. which i guess is fine but it’d be nice to have more stuff where kiran’s meant to be nonbinary. again, no ideas though)
wow i went on a tangent there. uh. i did Not describe the kisses at the end very much. at all. potentially something to work on but it probably wasn’t necessary for this fic to get much more detailed than it was. so. whatever
favorite part:  “Are you okay?” Alfonse asked, briefly looking over Kiran as soon as he was standing on the ground.
“Yeah! I’m fine!” Though Kiran was certain the panic he felt just shortened his lifespan a little. Somehow that’d been more terrifying than the whole “fighting in a war” thing.

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Fire Emblem Heroes Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Alfonse/Bruno | Zacharias/Summoner | Eclat | Kiran Characters: Alfonse (Fire Emblem), Bruno | Zacharias, Summoner | Eclat | Kiran Additional Tags: Literal Sleeping Together, Polyamory, Fluff and Humor Published: 2019-05-06 Word Count:342 Summary:
“Why do you get to be in the middle?” Kiran complained, despite the fact he was still clinging to Alfonse’s arm as if he’d die if he let go for even a second.
thoughts under the cut
i wrote this back in november for a thing i was trying to do as an alternative to nanowrimo, since i kinda realized i can’t really keep up with that anymore. instead, my goal was to write one new thing a day, at least 100 words. and then... i got hit w/ writers’ block so i couldn’t even do that. whoops.
however i did finish some fics in that time, this really short one being one of them
idk, i don’t have a lot to say about it. it’s cute, i think i successfully wrote something kind of funny, i’m pleased with it.
i could talk about my hc that after this debacle, the three of them try to come up w/ some kind of plan where everyone takes turns in the middle and how that falls apart real quick but like. i can’t really think of how to elaborate on that here beyond that
eh. w/e. see u all next fic
favorite part: “Why do you get to be in the middle?” Kiran complained, despite the fact he was still clinging to Alfonse’s arm as if he’d die if he let go for even a second.
“It’s my bed,” Alfonse replied, and while hours ago, he might have tried to sound patient, he was probably too exhausted to even bother now. As it was, irritation seemed to seep into his voice, despite him also trying his best to maintain physical contact with Kiran. It was more than a little cute, how the two of them couldn’t even be mad at each other enough to break apart.
