one thing I’ve noticed and kinda find fascinating (not rly in a “huh never seen this before” way bc I ABSOLUTELY have) is how drv3 fans seem to predominantly be fans of v3 over generally fans of the entire franchise, or at least only really actively engage with V3 characters/themes/ideas

#toca.txt #there's no real point to this observation tbh #but coming back to modern dr fandom in a small #and noticing the way it's kinda changed over a decade #like back in the day TM I defy remember enclaves of ppl who were mostly fans of either dr1 or sdr2 and mostly ignored the other game #but it was a lot rarer #tbh I get it. not just as a v3 fan but also it really is its own Thing TM #also god the struggle of being one of the few predominantly-UDG focused fans back when it dropped lmao #it's hard having permanent toukomaru brainrot #also tbh I do think part of the reason I give V3 and its fans a lot of grace #is remembering the struggle of being a fan of the most divisive game at the time LMAO #tbh since I don't rly drop my #Danganronpa Hot Takes TM #I want to stress that while I do think at its core UDG is A Good Game Actually #it's not without caveats and it's not without condemning a lot of the choices made #but I do think the story and the characters at its core are honestly the most engaging DR Thing TM period #and I'm a little tired of pretending there isn't actual merit to the stuff in UDG #there's good stuff and it's sad that it's also sandwiched between some truly rank writing decisions
