#also one of the biggest points of conflict would be the fact pony’s someone pure and gold and destined to leave behind tulsa

I think that Johnnyboy’s potential to complicated and messy is criminally untapped in fanon. Ponyboy ‘fucking sucks at feelings, both his own and of others, and can be a bitch’ Curtis and Johnny ‘imperfect victim with shit self-esteem’ Cade would definitely have their ups and downs

My Little Pony Re-Watch: Episode 4 Applebuck Season
*Of course the first thing everyone points out bout this episode is that Big Mac is quite a bit more talkative. Maybe they hadn’t figured out yet that the “Yep” line was pure gold.
*So not only are other basic animals like cows and mules as sentient as ponies, but ponies apparently have pets. Applejack has her dog Winnona, and we quite a few more in the series. Man the societal structure among species is weird in this show...
*Twilight continually being interrupted during her speech about Applejack is something I don’t remember being this funny, but it’s really funny. And it has Rainbow making that “So Awesome” face that was one of the biggest memes in the fandom. In that moment, Brony history was made!
*In fact a lot of this episode is pretty funny, especially once tired Applejack gets in the mix. I think the next episode is funnier, but this one’s got some good slapstick moments and great facial expressions that I didn’t see much in Flash animated cartoons. I think it’s only competition at the time was El Tigre.
*Also the Stampede of Bunnies. The Stampede of Bunnies was adorable!
*Speaking of Applejack, this is our first time seeing her stubborn side. This is still one of her biggest character flaws to this day (which isn’t a criticism, just an observation), and this is definitely the kind of conflict a stubborn person with a lot of responsibility would have.
*I know Applejack is tired and should not have put worms in the muffins, but to be fair, I don’t know what Wheat Germ is either.
*Also Derpy’s in the crowd of ponies looking for muffins! Is that where that connection started?
*This is one of the most well remembered episodes of Season 1, and back in the first couple of seasons, was one of the most popular episodes of the season. And there could be a couple of reasons for this. It’s got a lot more creative humor then the last couple of episodes. It’s the first episode that doesn’t focus on Twilight. But I think it’s because it was the first episode that had a message that was more relatable to adults.
*Sure kids should learn to ask for help, but I think people who have had jobs or tougher work loads at school will find this situation much more familiar. We’ve all done something like this at some point. Insisting we can do a major task all by ourselves to the point that it gets overwhelming. That moment where Big Mac points out just how much more of the orchard there is to pick? Again, we’ve all been there.
*It represents part of what i think gives MLP it’s staying power. The world is cool and the characters are adorable and all, but it portrays it’s lessons in a way that, for older viewers who aren’t afraid to admit they aren’t perfect, can take another look at an aspect of how they approach things, and maybe be better next time. And any show that can change how someone sees something, gets a ton of extra bonus points.
Also, I found Pinkie’s Baked Bads line way funnier then I probably should have. I just can’t believe I never heard that play on words before. Next time: Griffon the Brush Off!
