Last year, a friend of mine took me out to dinner for my birthday, and we were talking about random stuff, like conspiracies and theories, and he perfectly summed up having one brain that’s like ‘omg no that shit isn’t true’ and his *conspiracy brain* as he termed it. I’m gonna take a rambling walk through my conspiracy brain about what I think is up with Young Griff . . . and a million other random things i want to see happen.

Obviously, I do not want to believe that Young Griff is Aegon. GRRM constantly throws Red Herrings into our faces, and I think what makes Young Griff so significant is the fact that yes, he has people behind him ; he has their love ; he has their support. And yes, Varys and Illyrio play a large role in garnering support for his claim to the throne. However, there is no one who can TRULY say that that is Aegon, son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Elia Martell. Let’s just talk about the fact that...so much could have happened to the boy they supposedly spirited away?? I will not go into detail because ASOIAF can be quite gruesome; however, we cannot neglect the fact that kidnapping and death are large possibilities. Additionally . . . there are houses and people who claim Valyrian ancestry, so it would not necessarily be impossible to find a young boy to replace him ( omg just like those weird theories surrounding Queen Elizabeth I being replaced due to death at a young age from illness ).  

Which leads me to the fact that . . . while Daenerys would want to believe that Young Griff IS her family, this would be echoing in her head: 

“ The glass candles are burning. Soon comes the pale mare, and after her the others. Kraken and dark flame, lion and griffin, the sun's son and the mummer's dragon. Trust none of them. Remember the Undying. Beware the perfumed seneschal. ”

Dany is one PARANOID WOMAN, which, until GRRM gives me anything else to go off of is her quote-on-quote touch of Targaryen Madness . . . and also the fact that she has NEVER IN HER LIFE been safe and secure. And she has been USED as a pawn and BETRAYED. But I digress. Yes, she would love to have family, to not be the last of her line, but let’s be real. Young Griff has no expressed interest in SHARING the throne (that Dany has been labouring, fighting, sacrificing for) ; he has been groomed to be THE TARGARYEN HEIR. He even goes so far as to express that entitlement by saying that Daenerys ought to come to him, that his claim is better than hers, that he is the only dragon anyone needs. 

I won’t go into too much detail bc im just rambling but . . . Targaryen War is imminent. Aegon is going to be Dany’s greatest challenge in Westeros. After word gets out about Quentyn’s death, the Martells will probably and understandably side with Aegon (yes, I write Dany...but damn, I WOULD, TOO?? I would straight up be like tf you mean YOUR DRAGON KILLED SOMEONE I LOVE?? that’s some shenanigans. should quent have been in there? no. absolutely not. but at the same time . . . how else are a parent, cousins, siblings going to react when their lives have already been so negatively and violently affected by the Targaryens?). We COULD see the Reach side with him, as well (marriage prospect potentially???). Soooo, that begs the question of how Dany, sister of Rhaegar, will garner support. How she will fight these armies that are situated behind Aegon, seen as the true heir, without seeming like a violent and relentless conqueror. 

A part of me...and THIS IS WHERE MY CONSPIRACY BRAIN COMES IN would be interested in whether Euron and Aegon could potentially meet up and use that magical dragon horn during a Targaryen battle to take a dragon??

But anyways?? I think of these things because at the end of the day, I do not want Daenerys to have an EASY WIN. I want to see how such struggles will aid in her future evolution into a ruler . . . and also, she is a STRONG, SMART young woman. Is she my bby and do I think she deserves the world? yessss. But I also don’t want her story of struggle and resilience to be disrespected and undermined by ease. This girl is just getting started in Meereen. The real challenge is Westeros, and I can’t wait to see how she strategizes. 

That also being said... how interesting would it be for Dany and YG to have a very tense alliance to somehow dispose of Cersei...then it’s them duking it out??? Like, someone pls give me . . . a heartbroken, lonely Daenerys after defeating Cersei and Aegon (after not truly knowing whether or not that is REAL AEGON) sitting on the Iron Throne and just . . . agonizing over everything she has done to get to a place that at the end of it all . . . is not what she thought it would be. AND !!! it being right before the Long Night finally sets in ( which ok a really interesting thing would also be Dany going to help the North while this stuff is happening with Aegon as a means of garnering support and showing the People of the Realm that she cares about their lives and sense of humanity !! ). And Jon coming to KL, ALMOST AS A REFLECTION OF WHAT HAPPENED WHEN RICKARD AND BRANDON CAME SO LONG AGO. 

Anyways, I need to go write an essay about representation, so pls excuse the rambling nature of this and also any grammatical mistakes?? I just wanted to voice my thoughts on my blog, as I will be exploring all of this in more detail as the year commences . . . and hopefully GRRM finally, finally, finally publishes TWOW this year.
