It's so weird that there are people out here who call xie lian a mary sue when I didn't even get past book 1 yet and I already know just how bad he had it

Like he had so much responsibility put on him at the age of 17 and he was also a pampered prince so like most of the disaster that fell on him was bound to happen and at the point where I'm at I can see he's not some little perfect thing who's only made out to be an embarrassment just because the plot has to make him struggle for plot reasons

A mary sue in that position would've ended up with the most Disney-like ending I've ever seen tbh and I will fight anyone who says xie lian was some overpowered boring mess who only fucked up for plot
