i thought donnagarth became a ship in like 2017 ish? with ric grayson, heroes in crisis and drowned earth (they were the only fab five Titans alive/with memories so were interacting more - some people read into this romantically i guess. which is telling of their view of male-female friendships). My meta interpretation of WFTT was Waid shutting that down but I think it would have been better had they just not acknowledged it.
i personally blame heroes in crisis. Donna and Garth were barely there and it was so dumb they didn't do anything with them or their reaction to being the last two of the fab five left beyond having garth get drunk once (especially for a story supposedly about mental health??? also can atlanteans even get drunk?)
I guess? They were also an official item in netflix titans but he died early on and I don't think any fans were particularly upset about it aldhg
Personally, I never really considered rebirth donna/garth a Thing since they weren't actually "canon" outside of it being a Little implied. I mean,, they may have been canon and I wouldn't know since I barely pay attention to rebirth but I'm like Pretty Sure they never were. I also didn't really think people latched onto the ship that much but tbf I mostly interact with garth stans so I have no idea what other fans are into
Regardless, while I know some people like the ship, they're only ever "together" in a rebirth/post blackest night universe so I just,, kinda automatically see it as dumb aldhg Like Donna may be with someone Named garth but that sure as hell ain't the garth i know
