Once in a YouTube comment section, (the video had something to do with furries, i don't remember anymore) a dude was talking about how he didn't like calling himself a furry, because the only reason he was a "furry" was because of how much he hated being a human, and how much he wished he could be an animal but in like, a deep and poetic way (also the comment was REALLY long)

Me: Yo bro, I think you should do research on what an alterhuman is, It sounds way more accurate for you than the term furry

let’s talk about fictionkin

to me fictionkin is an extremely slippery slope, sometimes it can help alterhuman people realize their other kin types or get them through things but,,,it gets to the point where I get uncomfortable

see for a time I was considering being Jarethkin, I identified with that character a lot and I wanted to be him. But I was not kin with him because being otherkin is something involantary and unconscious and you’ve ALWAYS been that way. So identifying with your favorite character is a counsious decision and to me that seems more like copylink than otherkinity. Plus I get very tired of seeing kin lists where more than half of them are fictionkin. I’ve talked to people who are polykin and they say that it is very exhausting to have 3 or 4 kintypes, but I see these people with 10 or more and most being Fictotypes and well, it seems too much to keep track of, too many memories and shifts all together. Personally I think if you have 5 or more you should evaluate because having more than that seems very exsausting mentally.

and the word “kinfirm” just make me squirm, because that means you saw a character and almost like you CHOSE to be that kintype, just taking all the characters you identify with and branded them into the alterhuman comunity. The memories you get, you know they aren’t real! it’s just things from cannon! and I know about multiverse theory but it doesn’t help really because if your a villainous who feels bad about what you did that doesn’t make sense to me because that character had motivations for their actions and “feeling bad” doesn’t magically make it all better.

Another thing is that the otherkin kin tag is clogged with fictionkin, their aesthetics, moodboards, readings which I don’t mind too much but it gets overwhelming after a while seeing nothing but multi media characters and “no doubles”. But personally I think it’s a whole other community really because it’s cannon characters in media and it doesn’t really fit right with what the otherkin community was/is. But really otherkinity is not supposed to be the MAIN THING about yourself, you just are it. You shouldn’t have to alter your personality because of your kintype because you already are your kintype.

I understand identifying with characters, I do it all the time, one might argue I’m Jareth, Cthululu, hell even Rhettkin. But i’m not, because me identifying and liking those characters was a voluntary course of thought, yes sometimes we gravitate naturally towards different characters naturally and latch onto them but that does not mean we ARE them, we just indentify with them.

theres a differance between identifying WITH something and putting your identity in a box because you like something.

For me it is also mainly due to phantomb wings and eyes, but I use the term 'angelkin' cos it is simply the closest discription of what I am that is known. I don't serve a god or annything, but I do know I have a job, to protect my kin, and that also seemd verry fitting for an angel

I personally prefer the term alterhuman, but yes we are otherkin! Though beacouse the comunity is somewhat lesser known then therians I do mingle in therian spaces and use the term sometimes, just for simplicity ^v^

Can I know more about being a 'angelkin'? I thought it was only animals! I'm a fox therian by the way!

its called being otherkin! you may have a phantom tail, or phantom paws, but i have phantom wings! i feel like a humanoid being, so not really an animal, but with my phantom wings (and phantom eyes) being an angel made sense. Also, any angelkin followers (i know there's at least two of you) feel free to add your experiences!

Sorry I just thought of this and wanted to add this. No I shouldn't have tried to specifically join an LGBTQ+ comunity with my take; if that was what the issue clearly was I'd be fine with it but. It's the tranphobia thing that throws the fuck out of me. So fuck it I'll add more to throw shit in the fire

I'm not radqueer I am against nonces, 'MAPs' No-MAPs', bestiality and the likes. I am against hurting real people and animals, I just have a strong fiction is not reality stance. I am pro-trans. I am pro xenogender and nonbianary and agender, and I hate the fact that I'm genuinly thinking that my take on xenoidentity is the issues. Unless my take on MOGAI supporting race and disability issues as part of them, which I want to make very clear are only kind of connected to gender and sexuality for closed ones and are their own things. Also I am pro otherkin and therian and everything like that I am Alterhuman myself in some way. I just... I hope it's not just me that feels like this was an edited message. With that being the case a light explination would have been nice.

I would have almost prefered a 'veiws don't allign' or 'fuck off' but "Transphobic coments/ likes idk why they are here?" seems personal and somewhat mean.

I'm not too upset or anything they absolutely have the right to do this but respectfully, when? Where? The last thing that I want to be is transphobic. If this was on my MOGAI vs LGBT+ community I don't think that was transphobic. Respectfully I think this just kind of proves my point, I jus joined because it seemed like a good comunity. Ah well this is just a mild vent like I said not really upset, and they have every right just. interesting
