Hello! I feel like I need to tell it to someone since the only person in my personal life who I thought she’ll feel the same but she doesn’t understand it.
So I finally got to watch Heartstopper and uuuuuugh it may sound weird but as much as I have never read any larry fic, watching Hearstopper is kinda larry fic for me because I totally see larry baby boyfriends in Charlie and Nick and I totally love it. Like I hope some larries is feeling the same because that only person in my personal life is also larrie but she find Hearstopper boring, she’s not impressed by it and so she won’t understand how much I project baby larry into Hearstoppers. Have you seen it? I also saw RWRB but I didn’t like it that much (maybe that’s because I’m not into american production and that film was very american for me and I cringed with some scenes sorry 😅) but Hearstopper stole my heart from the very first minute, such a comforting feel-good series for teens with queers and their young innocent love.
Oh and last point - MP was my very first queer movie, then I saw Call Me By Your Name and I’m even suprised there is one small gay scene from Bones and All (yep, I saw it months before the current stunt drama ‘cause I like Timothèe) and I just hope we’ll be getting queer movies/series more and more because it’s so refreshing!
Hello, anon!
Wow, so first thing first. You haven't read any larry fics? I'd kill for getting to experience reading some of my favourite fics for the first time again! There is so many great authors in this fandom too, we are so lucky! Are you just not a big reader? If so, that's fair.
Yes, i have seen heartstopper. Overall i think it was okay. It is a very important show though and i love the praise it's getting and how popular it's become, it's all well deserved! Sorry, if this is a buzzkill for you 🙈. I think everyone has their own likes and dislikes, and got reasons for it. That's okay!
I just think i'm getting too old for cute, innocent high school romantic dramas. I didn't think it was boring, the acting was pretty good. The characters are well developed. It's just that the tropes they use are not my favourite. It was too cutesy, juvenile and way too much fluff for me. If i'm going to compare in sort of the same category, i think i liked young royals (or even skam) better. I do get why you see young harry and louis in nick and charlie. I see some similarities there too.
Rwrb on the other hand is right up my alley! I love the enemies to lovers trope and i'd watch the worst movies or shows if it had that trope (and probably enjoy it). I've lost count on how many times i've seen rwrb. I didn't like the book though (well i haven't finished it yet, still got a couple of chapters left, but i'm struggling to finish it. There are so many better larry fics i'd rather spend time reading...). If by all this you figure that my favourite queer show must be the american version of queer as folk, you'd be absolutely right.
I hope will be getting more queer movies and series too! A little bit of something for everyone.
