I think I am oddly obsessed with "imagining historical AUs as backstory tied to an equally fictional object that has survived to our age." Like. I think all of my AUs, if written, should start in an archive or a museum or in a family home with public heirlooms and we hear of the object that survived before we hear the stories in all the details that don't.

#Between Me and the Goddess and You literally has the physical stats of a fictional curse tablet from acqua sulis in the summary #and I just thought about the Constantinople AU more specifically of Sadık banging Hera's brains out while he was trying to study in bed #and continues to study and at one point Sadık puts his hand over Herakles' which is still on the manuscript trying to follow the line he is #reading and I thought. Hey parchment is basically fine leather or this may even be paper. There should be a sweat stain here.#And any historian literal centuries later would never have any hope on correctly pinpointing down that this stain was due to sweet sweet #imperial lovemaking. It'd just be like well someone didn't wash their fingers in the Anatolian heat! Maybe infers how careless this text #was treated by its owners and perhaps infer from that that its content wasn't considered as important or revered as much as others.#or that the book was actually much liked and thusly often used! both goes!#beablabbers #anyways I am a genius I am so full of righteous anger I might explode
