#a warning to the curious#a warning to the curious (1972)#2023filmgifs#my gifs#i feel so lucky that we get to see#these Lawrence Gordon Clark adaptations#of MR James stories#they're so faithful to the themes and sensibility of the stories#even if the plots are tweaked and streamlined a bit#which is understandable#though really it helps if you've read the stories first#cos otherwise i don't think you fully get what the story's doing#mebbe#anyway i loved this#and was shocked all over again by the ending#which i did NOT remember#and went and checked my copy#and yep it's the same#and bonus Clive Swift ohhhh i love him#this was so beautifully filmed too
