Centinel isn't in a time loop, he's causing the time loops. But maybe that's worse? What does it mean to know exactly what's happening inside the pocket world you've created, but not experience it fully yourself? To twist time in your hands until you know you have control of the situation? Isn't that the same as being inside the loop? He's making this happen over and over on purpose for various reasons but mostly he just feels a need to hold onto that moment. He's lived a thousand years and he watched the person who mattered most to him die and he can't stop wanting that time back. But he can never get her back. He can only ever trap himself in a time loop by trapping other people in the loop. And maybe if he traps Wayfinder then he'll be able to stop them from disappearing too.
