Suna Rintarou x gn!reader
links sends you to the piece of furniture on ikea’s website that is mentioned! there’s three in total. words: 774 content: fluff, a few IKEA links, reader’s good at assembling furniture
“What do you need... that... for?” Suna’s eyes squint as he scrunches up his nose in disgust, “I thought we’d agreed on everything we had to buy?”
You beam at him with the placement for the Poäng written in the notes, sending him a sly smile in return as you get back up and start walking towards the self-help shelves. This was the last thing on your list.
Suna follows behind you as he tries to ask you again what made you think he wanted that monstrosity in his home but you simply hum along to a random melody and keep your piece of paper out of his reach, “I told you we needed a new armchair and that I wanted a rocking chair for when we get old and gray but you were so busy with TikTok that you barely registered it,” you turn back around with a grin, “and then you said whatever you want, honey” your attempt at his voice made him scoff in disbelief, “and... I want this.”
Suna knew he was supposed to be perplexed about your choice of chair but what really hit a nerve was your stab at him being busy with TikTok. He could’ve never been so distracted by that app that he’d agree to a rocking chair! TikTok was the bane of his existence! Such a loud and messy app, filled with people like Atsumu making thirst traps and cringe challenges (he wants you to forget all the challenges he made you do with him before Atsumu made his account).
You notice his annoyance but decide to simply stick out your tongue for him. Honestly the rocking chair you chose were one of the better ones, an acceptable chair to have in the corner of your new living room that also went well with the aesthetic you’d decided to go for together. You could’ve gone with a Grönadal or even worse, a Gubbön! So really, you did him a favor by choosing the Poäng.
You weren’t sure why he’d started hating on TikTok when Atsumu got it - maybe he was just embarassed at all the couple challenges he’d made you do with him being seen by people he actually knows in real life but his opinions on the app had changed and become very vocal in social gatherings - not that you disagreed with some of it, TikTok was in many ways not a very good app but neither were some of the other social media apps you spent your time on.
“Really Rin, there’s no shame in getting so caught up on TikTok, even I do that sometimes,” you tilted your head with a smile and grabbed his hand which he seemed to accept with a scoff. “I was listening to the conversation though,” he tries, sounding like a little child trying to convince an adult of their truth,
“mhm, I’m sure you were. That’s how we agreed on the chair, right?” you laughed as you grabbed one of the cargo trolleys so you could gather the furniture.
He decided not to push the matter further, simply helping you carry all the heavy boxes, even jogging back to the trolleys to grab another one as you got something from shelf 18.
__
“Aaaand that’s the last screw!” you celebrated and clapped your hands together, “we did it!”
Suna came into the living room with a smile and a glass of wine for you, “dinner’s ready in a few minutes” he said, dragging his hand along your new dining table. “I can’t believe we’ve got all this furniture today, what kind of monster are you?” he looked back at you, referring to the way you’d been assembling furniture non-stop since you came home around 2pm - he’d helped of course but when your blood sugar started dropping he was promptly sent to the kitchen to make your favorite dish while you finished up.
He went to sit down in the God-forsaken rocking chair, genuinely surprised by how soft and comfortable it was. You smiled as you crawled your way from the floor up on his lap, “see! This wasn’t such a terrible buy, right?” you beamed at him as you started swinging back and forth making it rock and Suna had to admit that he was overwhelmed with a sense of ease but maybe that was just you settled comfortably on top of him in your new - and furnished - living room, reminding him how lucky he was to have you - and if it meant living with the ugliest chair he’d ever seen, he’d take 20 more if it made you smile at him like that again.
