The more I read this fucking book the more I'm sure Mironov was playing golden calf Ostap in 12 chairs and that's why it didn't work well
#like.... bitch is different in the two books alright!!#hes still bender and hes still ostao anf hes still himself in both of them ofc and he keeps his iconic-ness but hes still like. different#in chairs hes kinda.... not that deep AT ALL and thats also why i consider kisa to be the mc?? he doesnt have ideals or dreams or anything#except wanting the money of course but in calf he has RIO#and he has the romantic plot line with Zosya#and both of these things are something bigger than just getting the money from koreyko as it was in chairs#they give him a character arc. and even a slightly tragic one? because he wants to have a stable life both materially and relationship wise#but hes doomed to wander arounf without an anchor. AND MIRONOV LITERALLY SHOWS IT#HE WOULD BE SUCH A GREAT CALF BENDER... HE LITERALLY PLAYS HIM... ITS JIST THE WRONG ADAPTATION 😭😭#🥏
