Lysithea: …
Edelgard: Lysithea? Are you all right? You don't look well...
L: Huh? Oh! No, no—I'm fine! Really. Just not accustomed to so much manual labor.
E: You were cleaning the library...all by yourself?
L: Yes. The other student who was assigned to tidy up with me wasn't feeling well, so it's just me.
L: I figured I could at least dust the bookshelves or something, but I...uh...I got a little carried away.
E: So many books... You probably tired yourself out just moving them from the shelves.
L: As much as I love books, I can't say I love carrying stacks of them to and fro. They're so heavy.
E: Well… Maybe you should think things through a little more next time.
L: Surely you can tell how much physical strength a job is going to require before you begin.
E: I can do without the condescension, thanks.
L: After all, I'm the only one who has to deal with the fact that I've worn myself out.
E: I only said that you should take care of yourself. Especially considering—
L: Considering what?
E: Nothing. Never mind.
E: How about you return to your quarters? I'll finish cleaning up in here.
L: But I want to finish what I've started!
E: I don't mind, really. Please, don't make me repeat myself.
L: Ugh. Fine. As long as you'll finish all this up.
E: I will. Get some rest, OK?
L: Yes, yes. Thank you.
E: If what I heard about Lysithea is true... Hmm... I just don't know how much of it I should believe.

L: Edelgard, do you have a minute?
E: You want to speak with me? How unusual... Please, come in. I'll prepare some tea for us.
E: Have a seat. Would you care for some cake?
L: Yes, please! I never say no to sweets.
E: They’re from Enbarr. A bit too sweet for my own liking.
L: Isn't that the whole point of cake? Well, more for me. Mmm, these are fantastic with this tea.
E: Heh, true. Well, there's no shortage of them. Help yourself to as many as you like.
E: Now then. You wished to speak with me?
L: Mmm, mm. So, I, ah, can tell you know a fair bit about me. Mmm...
E: Maybe this can wait until you've finished eating?
L: Gulp. Edelgard. You know a fair bit about me. Don't you?
E: What in particular?
L: For example, the fact that I have two Crests.
E: Oh? That's...hard to believe.
L: No need to play coy with me. It won't work.
L: It's clear my body has succumbed to the intense pressure of bearing two Crests.
L: Due to the immense requirements of bearing these Crests, my life expectancy is...painfully short. You know all of this, right?
E: Actually, this is the first I'm hearing of it. How would I know unless you told me?
L: Still won't drop the act, huh? Despite how obvious you've been with your concern about my health? You're certainly consistent.
L: I'm not really in the mood for these games.
L: Given your rank, you certainly have access to all kinds of information that others do not. Clearly, you'd have heard all about me.
E: Either way... I know now since you just told me.
E: About your two Crests, your physical weakness, and your short life expectancy.
E: However, according to the principles of Crest research, it's impossible to bear two Crests.
E: Unless…you've undergone a blood reconstruction surgery. Is that the case, Lysithea?
L: Correct. It wasn't as though I had a say in any of this.
E: I see. So you've lived through that relentless terror and agony...and survived.
L: You speak of all of this as though you understand it on a personal level... Edelgard, have you...
E: You’re a good friend, Lysithea. And a valuable member of this army.
E: So I won't have you overexerting yourself. I don't want to lose you. Understand?
L: I understand.
E: Heh. Good girl. Oh, and if you like those cakes, why not take some with you for later?
L: There's no need to pander to me! But...yes. I'll take those. Thanks.

E: How are you today, Lysithea?
L: Fine, thank you. And yourself?
E: Quite well, thank you.
L: I overheard something recently. Something pertaining to you and your vision for the future...
L: Is it really true that you intend to create a world in which Crests no longer exist?
E: It’s true. My aim is to dismantle the current system of aristocracy.
E: The only reason nobles enjoy the status they do is because their bloodlines carry Crests. If Crests lose their value, so will titles of nobility.
L: I really agree with your thinking.
L: My parents have suffered throughout their lives due to their nobility.
L: Due to my own Crests, I've never been able to live a normal life.
L: I'm sick of nobility and Crests—of all of it. It sounds as if it's truly your mission to change things.
L: I'll pledge my life to your cause, however short it may be.
E: Lysithea…
L: Has your hair always been that color, by the way?
E: Huh?
L: I ask because mine wasn't always this color. I lost all pigment after receiving my two Crests.
L: Edelgard, I want a world where people like you and I are no longer victimized. I want you to bring that world into being.
L: If it's within me to help that come to pass, then I'll do whatever it takes.
E: Understood. I promise to do all I can to see this goal to fruition.
E: And I want you to promise something in return... that you will never stop fighting for your life.
E: Whatever terrible fate awaits us, we can fight it and prevail!
E: I need you to trust me on that. Do you promise?
L: I...I promise. I will try my best to believe that.
E: Good girl. Now then...would you care for a sweet cake?
L: Ugh, please do not call me that! But uh...yes. Yes, I would.
