i am of the mind that you can do what you need to do to make your experience better on this site. i don’t think that we should dictate what other people do! in your case, i’d probably do it anyway if that’s what will make you feel comfortable and safe. to call someone a coward for making their experience better and safe is not the way to go about it, imo

like personally i’d rather people soft block me because i feel like the asshole for still following. i feel like if i reblog things from that person, because i don’t read urls when i reblog shit i just notice the content, im going to be in their notifications. they’re still going to see me despite having been unfollowed by them. does that not make you feel worse somehow? does that not make you feel like a total asshole bc you’re still following someone who doesn’t want to follow you back?

at least that’s what goes through my brain whenever i see the mutual badge is now a following badge. there is nothing wrong with unfollowing a mutual, there is nothing wrong with soft blocking. i just want to know what the vibe is if you unfollow someone who broke the mutualism. bc i personally still like their content and have 0 issues with anyone i currently follow, i just don’t want to be the asshole bc i’m still in their notifications.

but i guess, since there is no soft blocking or hard blocking happening, they don’t really care and im just in my head for no reason other than ✨anxiety✨
