Opinion on True Love: As a fated soulmate kind of thing? It's not true and would have depressing implications if it was. As a state that you can reach through good communication and working on your relationship? Sure, call it whatever you want.

Opinion on Love at First Sight: You need to get to know a person before you can tell if you truly love them. Even physical attraction takes some time for him to recognize, so he doubts he'd ever immediately fall in love with someone of his own accord.

How 'romantic' are they?: Extremely. He's not always super verbal about it, and he'll try to keep things toned down in public, but the dates, the gifts, the grand displays of affection? He's about as close as it gets to dating a fairytale prince in this world and time period. He'll pay attention to the smallest details in your interactions and cater future outings or presents to your interests. Money is no object, and if you ever mention even just thinking about wanting something, he'll find a way to make it happen. Lovestruck Look

You were the youngest and most passionate member in the Violet Lantern Corps, after all, teenage girls were often the most love-struck but you were different from other teenage girls when it came to the topic. Your wisdom of love was much more mature, you could tell when people liked each other by the subtle things they did, and you weren’t exactly oblivious when someone had a crush on you. Especially if it was someone as obvious as Jaime Reyes, aka, the Blue Beetle.

It was the way he looked at you, really.

The moment you walked into the room, you felt his eyes on you. When you did catch his stare, you could see the admiration and infatuation glinting in those dark eyes of his, no matter how fast he looked away once he realized he was caught. You didn’t even need your ring to see the amount of love in his heart but it was overwhelming in your eyes, the more you realized how infatuated he was with you, the more you realized you had no idea how to react to the situation. Funny how someone who was so knowledgeable about love had no idea to react when someone had their sights set on them.

“(Y/n)! Hey!” Tye shouted as he waved over to you, you smiled and waved back only to see a very flustered Jaime trying to shush his friend. 

You were hesitant to approach them but Tye kept waving you over and you really didn’t want to be rude.

“Hey, guys! What’s up?” You asked, folding your hands behind your back as you looked at them. Jaime scratched the back of his neck nervously and looked away from you which only made Tye roll his eyes before looking at you, “Nothing much but listen, I was wondering if you’d like to go to the movies with me and Jaime? There’s a three-person discount happening.”

You could see right through that lie and found it kinda funny, really. It was obvious Tye going to set up you and Jaime by leaving you two there and see where things went. It was cute to the point were you even giggled a little, making Jaime’s heart race and a blush growing on his face. Still, he was eager to see what your answer was.

“Yeah, sure. It sounds fun!” You beamed, making Tye grin at Jaime who seemed to brighten up at your answer.

Then he looked at you, those brown eyes filled with repressed love and admiration that were only held for you, and it made you stiffen upon meeting them. Making you fidget with your power ring on your finger and made you look at the ground.

“Um, yeah…” You coughed awkwardly before turning around, “See you guys tonight.”

Jaime only sighed dreamily as he stared after you but Tye immediately elbowed him in the gut, making him grunt in pain before glaring at his ‘friend’.

“He has assaulted us, he must pay for this attack.” The Scarab immediately says in his head. Jaime ignores it but glares at Tye, “What was that for?”

Tye crossed his arms over his chest, “Dude, you didn’t even try to say anything to her! If you want this to work out, you need to get over your speechlessness.”

Jaime frowned at his words, “I know, I know, but she’s just so- so-...”

“Illecebrous?” Scarab suggested.

“-pretty.” Jaime finished.

“That word does not capture the amount of attractiveness you find (Y/n) to be-” Jaime blushes even more before shushing to his scarab to shut up.

Tye, knowing full well about Jaime and the Scarab, only shook his head before looking up at Jaime.

“Look, you really need to start a conversation with her at some point, or else you guys are going to go nowhere,” Tye said before the bell began to ring, saying that homeroom was about to start.

Jaime was left to ponder Tye’s words, the only time he wasn’t thinking of you during the homeroom period was when he was staring at you, that same lovestruck look in his eyes. Meanwhile, you were internal turmoil as you tried to think about your feelings towards Jaime.

You liked the puppy-love look he gave you and while you found his feelings amusing, you certainly didn’t want to play or toy with them in any way. After all, love was a delicate and precious emotion in your eyes, and you’d only be going back on everything you believed in if you did something as distasteful of that. So, did that mean you also liked Jaime since you agreed to go on the date- sorry, ‘hang out’ with him and Tye?

You looked back at him, making contact with his dark brown eyes, and sending him a bright smile as a silent way to urge him not to look away. He felt his heart beating fast and sheepishly smiled back at you before breaking the eye contact, while it was a little annoying it was also quite endearing to you as you turned to listen to what the teacher was saying, but Jaime was now freaking out and his Scarab was not helping.

The day went by pretty fast and it was only a matter of seconds as Jaime feels himself get incredibly nervous and annoyed as he held two movie tickets in his hand. Tye had bailed earlier than planned but apologized by paying for you and Jaime’s tickets, although Jaime couldn’t help but feel like Tye only did that so he was forced to talk to you.

“Do not kid yourself, Jaime Reyes, you were planning to sit next to her and say nothing the entire night.” Scarab nagged. Jaime frowned, “Was not.”

The Scarab protested but Jaime immediately ignored it when he saw you through a car window, his mind going all blurry and white, and the sound of his beating heart became deafening as he saw you open the car window.

“Thanks, Auntie Carol, love you!” You said happily before you shut the door on who Jaime assumed was your aunt before walking towards him.

You hadn’t dressed up, it was supposed to be a casual hangout, after all, but you really don’t seem to be surprised that Tye isn’t there. Instead, you merely give Jaime that bright smile of yours.

“Excited for the movie?” You hummed as you stood next to Jaime. Jaime smiled weakly, “Uh, yeah! I heard it got really good reviews!”

“Do you even know what movie you are watching, Jaime Reyes?” Scarab asked irritably. 

Jaime tried his best to ignore the Scarab, which meant ‘no’, as you two entered the movie theatre, ordering snacks and so. It wasn’t until you two sat next to each other did he finally get nervous, your hand now on the armrest as you turned it palm up, almost as if you were expecting Jaime to hold it. He noticed after a while and looked up at you with disbelieving eyes, but your (e/c) eyes had a mischievous yet innocent shine to them as you looked from him to your hand.

Before he could move, however, there was a loud crash that came out from the lobby of the movie theatre, making both of you immediately whip your heads in the direction of the crash and heard the sound of people screaming.

“(Yn), hun, I need your help.” Your aunt’s voice immediately rang through your head, you looked down at your ring before standing up from your spot and running out of the theatre room passed other guests who also stared in the direction of the lobby. Jaime also stood up and chased after you, “Wait, (Y/n), where are you-”

However, the Scarab reminds him there are other people in danger and while Jaime was still very hesitant to let you run-off, he still ducked into the men’s bathroom. You, however, were in the women’s bathroom that was deserted as you held your ring to your chest to rehearse the oath you had spoken so many times.

“For hearts long lost and full of fright, for those alone in blackest night, accept our rings and join our fight. Love conquers all with violet light!” You chanted as the violet light began to shoot from your ring and your clothes changing into your Lantern persona.

“Hey there, Blue!” Hal greeted as he dodged an attack from the Red Lantern. Blue Beetle smiled weakly before using a sonic canon and noticing two other people there.

One was a woman dressed in a very revealing violet uniform while the other had flowing (h/c) hair and a much more modest uniform. It actually kinda reminded him of something you would wear if she was a hero-

“Focus on the mission. Not (Y/n).” Scarab snapped, making Blue shake his head and continue to attack the Red Lantern.

Although, how couldn’t he focus on you? The Red Lantern seemed to have caused quite the mess when attacking the theatre and you had run right into the destruction. The moment this battle was done, Jaime was definitely going to look for you. Meanwhile, you couldn’t help but find something familiar about the new hero and your Aunt seemed to have noticed your interest.

“(Y/n), you’re already on a date.” Star Sapphire said in a teasing tone. You blushed slightly and looked at her, “Star!”

As the fight progressed, you had formed a plan as you noticed how the Red Lantern seemed to be losing power the longer the fight dragged out but so were you

“Green,” You shouted out towards Hal, “Star and I can crystalize him but you and the kid need to blast him back closer to us!”

Green Lantern nodded, “C’mon, Beetle, you heard the girl.”

Both of them aimed their weapons and shot back the Red Lantern while you and your aunt flew behind him, both of your violet rings now shooting at the Red Lantern before finally encasing half of his lower body in crystal. You decided to fly up to crystalize him from above since he was about to break free.

Finally, he ran out of power and could no longer fight against the three of you, however, your ring ran out of power too.

“(Y/N)!” Carol shouted as she was about to fly up to you.

Hal was getting ready to use his ring on you but neither of them was the one to catch you. It was Blue Beetle, who immediately reacted at the mention of your name, and who you immediately saw that it was Jaime Reyes. His uniform was impressive and you obviously didn’t recognize him at first but now that you were looking into his eyes as you he held you in his arms in your civilian form, there was a gaze that you knew all too well in his eyes.

One of admiration, one of love, and all around, utterly lovestruck.

“(Y-Y/n)?” Jaime gasped while looking at you in shock.

You smiled sheepishly, “Hey, Jaime...”
