i think this might be the worst i've felt mentally since the pandemic, and it's all because of having to start that stupid job which i NEED to be able to afford to keep going to uni
#i've only done four shifts and i'm already feeling so burnt out and miserable#i hate this! and every single other job that's easy to get involves just as much having to talk to people#and i just don't think i can do it. CONSTANTLY being around people and being seen and having to work hard and make myself useful and not#being able to sit down or be alone for an entire day several times a week#and it makes me miserable when coworkers banter with each other but only talk to me when necessary because i'm no good at making#conversation with them. it feels shitty to be treated that way but it's ALWAYS what people do when it comes to me#and now there'll be less and less non-talking-to-people jobs because of stupid AIs. a decade ago i could have got a job doing stuff like#translation or subtitles or something but now they've got bloody robots who just do all that and all that's left is jobs that are designed#for neurotypical people and it all just sucks and i don't want to do this but i don't know what there is that i CAN do for the rest of my#life that will actually ever make me happy and that won't drain me#i mean if i can't handle a part time job let alone a full time one then what even is there for me??#emma vents#ugh i'm trying to remind myself that it's 1am and i might feel better in the morning. but honestly i don't know if i will#and the thing is that if i CAN'T handle this job then i really don't know what i can do. because there aren't any other options apart from#to go to work. there's literally no escape and it sucks

Absolutely Not - Spencer Reid x Reader
chapter eight of “all bets are off”
do i sense some… possesive undertones coming from doctor reid? whatever. it doesn’t matter. you’re done with him anyway. it’s over.
warnings: SMUT, public sex, unprofessionalism, bondage, daddy kink, degradation, POSSESIVE sex
“Good morning, agents.”
“Hotch… too loud.” You mumbled.
“I agree.” JJ groaned.
You and your party-girls from the previous night were huddled around the coffee machine, grumbling about your hangovers.
“Why did we do that on a Sunday?” Emily asked, pouring herself a cup.
“Because we’re all masochists.” You replied weakly. Your morning had been miserable. You woke up with a pounding headache and you had to put on about a pound of makeup on your neck and chest again.
“Hey guys!” Spencer approached. You saw JJ glance at him quickly.
“Spence. About last night.. I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have gotten that drunk.” She apologized quietly. He shook his head and smiled.
“I already told you JJ, it’s okay. I was more than happy to get you home.” They exchanged smiles and JJ walked away, the rest of the woman following close behind.
“So, you making a habit of going to your female coworker’s houses late at night now?” You asked him. He seemed taken aback.
“What? No. What? Is that how you think of me? I didn’t- I wouldn’t take advantage of her, she was drunk-“ he began explaining frantically.
You felt bad, quickly explaining. “No, Spencer, it’s okay. I know, I know. I was joking. It was nice of you to take her home.” You assured him.
“Good. I don’t… I don’t want you to see me like that.” He sighed. “What did you do after I left?” He asked, moving on.
“Fucked a guy in the bathroom.” You said nonchalantly, testing him.
“Oh, I’m sure you did. Don’t think I don’t remember what you said last night.” He warned.
You found yourself falling into the trap again. Witty banter that would end with you pinned up against some surface and calling him daddy. Nope. Not this time.
“I really can’t recall. I was drunk, remember?” You shrugged, walking away before the situation could get any worse. He didn’t stop you, you noticed, as you made your way to your desk.
“What did you all do last night? You’re walking around like zombies,” Hotch asked you as you passed by him.
“Drank too much.” You sighed.
“And where was my invite?” Derek piped up.
You threw your hands up, a show of innocence. “Don’t ask me, ask your lover Garcia. She made the plans, I was just told to show up.” Spencer was back at his desk now, watching you. “Kid genius over here got an invite, though.” You directed Derek’s attention his way.
Derek walked towards him, giving you the freedom to finally take a seat at your desk. You spaced out almost immediately, mind wandering. What would have been said if you hadn’t walked away from Spencer? Did anything at all happen when he left the bar with JJ? And why the fuck did you give a shit? Self-reminder: you’re trying to let this go, not linger on it for the entirety of the foreseeable future. You were so busy scolding yourself in your head you didn’t realize that a box had been dumped onto your desk. Speak of the devil.
“What’s all this, Spencer?” You asked.
“Files.” He explained. “Files that I think need organizing.”
You looked at him quizzically. “I don’t think that organizing random files is a part of my job,” You stuck your hand into the box. “…This box is empty.” You stared at him blankly. He feigned surprise, causing you to roll your eyes.
He placed a hand on your desk, leaning over, his voice low and quiet. “In 10 minutes Hotch is going to have a meeting with Derek and Prentiss, I overheard them talking about it. JJ and Garcia will be in Garcia’s den going over the info for one of our old cases to make sure there’s nothing they’re missing to help the prosecutor of the unsub. Where do you think we should go?” You narrowed your eyes at him. If he thought he was going to get you to do… this with him again, especially at work, he must’ve been out of his mind. “You want me to choose? That’s fine. I’ll see you in the storage room.”
“No.” You said simply. “Not happening. No Bueno. Nada.”
He exhaled sharply, breath fanning out over the back of your neck. “See you in 10, agent.”
You were making a bad decision. You knew that. So why, then, were you walking towards the storage room when you noticed the bullpen was almost completely empty. Why did you knock on the door? Why did you open it and walk inside when you realized no one was there. Was this a prank? The only things in the room were boxes upon boxes of files and an old desk. Why were you here again? You stood there, confused, until the door opened. Spencer was already tugging the tie around his neck off, meeting your eyes. “You came.” He didn’t sound surprised. You wished he would’ve at least sounded a bit surprised.
“I wanted to know what the fuck you were going on about.” You replied as nonchalantly as possible.
“Strip.”
You froze.
“Y/n you knew exactly what was going to happen when you came here. Don’t make me repeat myself.”
There it was again. The warmth. The innate desire to please him, to follow orders.
“I can do it for you, but I can’t promise your clothes will be in perfect condition when we walk out of here.” His tie was off now. He held it in one hand, the other running through his hair as he observed you. You moved to pull off your shirt, dropping it to the floor. He hummed in approval.
“Good girl.”
You quickened your pace a bit, sensing his impatience, until you were shamefully exposed. Goosebumps rose upon your skin, the cold air a sharp contrast to the heat of your body.
“Look how quickly you give in. You’ve always been eager to please, though.” His eyes were raking up and down your body.
“How is it fair that I’m like.. this. And you get to be fully clothed?” You groaned, embarrassment growing. You should have never walked into the storage room.
“Patience, baby.” He chuckled, a hand moving to undo his belt. “You wanna know how I knew you’d come?”
You nodded.
“Because as much as you try to fight it but your body already knows who you belong to. Already knows that you need me, regardless of how hard you try to ignore it.” Fuck. Fuck. What if he was right? Was he right? Were you just braindead and horny at all times? “Come here.”
You approached him. You were already naked, what point was there in arguing now? You could resent yourself and your actions at a later date. He ran a hand over your body, tracing the outline of your skin. He was breathing heavily, a contrast to how calm and collected he looked on the outside.
“Turn around and give me your wrists.”
When you didn’t reply immediately he opted to grab your waist and spin you around. You were pressed against him now, feeling how hard he was through his pants. “Now for these,” he took your wrists in one hand and you heard the clank of his belt moving around and then, suddenly, the rough texture of leather wrapping around your wrists.
“O-Oh my god, Spencer, what are you doing?” Your face had turned bright red and you were actually kind of thankful that he had turned you so you weren’t facing him.
The leather tightened. You tried to flex against the restraints, testing them, but your hands were now held firmly in place. “You can turn back around now,” he sounded proud of himself. You hated it.
You faced him, hands tied behind your back, and watched with shaky breath as he pulled down his pants. “Why don’t you apologize for saying no to me earlier?” He suggested.
“You wish.” you grumbled, refusing to give in that easily.
“I’m sorry, which one of us is naked and tied up right now? I don’t have to make this easy for you. If you want me to fuck the attitude out of you again I certainly will."
You gulped. “H-How can I apologize, sir?”
Spencer bit his lip harshly. Maybe he wasn’t expecting that response, but honestly neither were you. "I think you already know how.” He replied, brushing your hair out of your face.
You sunk to your knees, the rough floor already feeling uncomfortable, but you persevered. He stepped forward, a hand immediately rest on top of your head, blunt nails digging into your scalp. You leaned forward, taking him into your mouth slowly. He leaned his head back, exhaling through gritted teeth. Your eyes were glued to him, looking up through your lashes, and you could feel the need inside of you grow. How did he manage to look so fucking good? You found it hard to control yourself considering you had absolutely no use of your hands or arms, but that didn’t bother Spencer. He pushed you forward a bit and you gasped, coughing a bit. You heard him chuckle. You started bobbing your head, your tongue moving in synch. He was still guiding you, gently rocking his hips to meet your movements. Your eyes watered as he began to speed up, though, pressing your face pressing against his skin with each push of his head and thrust of his hips. “Look at you, all tied up and pathetic,” he breathed out. “Is there any question who owns you? You don’t care when or how, you let me use your body without question.” You were struggling to breathe, tears falling down your cheeks, but you didn’t care. Your only thoughts were of Spencer. Pleasing him. Earning his praise. “As much as I’d love to cum in that pretty little mouth of yours, I think I’d rather watch you beg for me.” He slowed down a bit, eventually releasing you from his grip. You almost fell over, losing your balance as you sputtered and gasped. He helped you up, running a thumb over your swollen bottom lip. “Do you want daddy to fuck you?” He asked.
“Yes, please, daddy.” You replied quickly, obediently. He let out a satisfied hum. “We’re still at work, I’ll have to keep you quiet.” He leaned down, picking up his tie from the ground. “Open.” You coyly opened your mouth and he brushed his thumb over your cheek soothingly, shoving the fabric into your mouth. He did it so gently that you almost forgot that he was about to fuck you in the storage room of an FBI office building. “Look at you, actually learning how to do what daddy says.” He turned you around once again and began to push you a bit, walking you towards the abandoned desk, nuzzling his face into the crook of your neck and leaving butterfly kisses down your jawline. His finger trailed between your legs. His thumb played at your clit, running torturously slow circles, and he kept at this for a bit, whispering sweet nothings into your ear, reminding you of your place. Slowly but surely you could feel your climax approaching, but when your moans started becoming louder from behind the fabric he stopped. You tried to turn your head to look back at him but you didn’t have a chance.
“Now you’re gonna be a good girl and take it.” The gentleness of his voice dissipated and he bent you down onto the desk, the cool surface prickling your warm skin. You mumbled against the fabric in your mouth, pleading. He paused, considering, and without warning, he pushed himself inside of you with a low groan. You let out a muffled cry, body trying to refamiliarize itself with the feeling of being so full. You were moaning, spit dribbling down from around the fabric of his tie. “God, fuck, I missed this,” Spencer said through a strained whisper. He fucked you fast, a bruising grip on your hips, and you couldn’t do a single thing but lay there as he did. Eventually, he moved his hand up to your lower back, pressing you further down onto the desk, your face shoved into the smooth wood surface. “You told them last night that I wasn’t your best, huh? Well, I guess I’ll just have to fuck you so hard that I ruin you for anyone else.” He was speaking a bit too loud now, you feared, but there was nothing you could do to indicate that to him. You could only let out muffled sounds of pleasure as he thrusted in and out of you. Your legs were starting to shake, they were still a little bit sore from the weekend, but you were already feeling yourself get too lost in your pleasure to care about the aches and pains. “Who else could fuck you this well, huh?” You couldn’t see his face but he sounded almost angry. “Who else could satisfy a slut like yourself? You need this. You need me to fuck you.” He was too loud. Too fucking loud. And you knew it, but you could barely bother to care. He was fucking you so well you didn’t care if the whole FBI heard you. “You’re so fucking perfect, so hot, especially like this, so helpless, so easy to control.” You were so close, moaning, wishing you could see how good Spencer looked while absolutely ravishing you against the desk. He was close too, you could tell because his movements were once again becoming more erratic. He grabbed the end of the belt that was restraining your wrists, tugging on it hard enough to force you into an upright position, back pressed against his chest. You mewled in pain but he didn’t seem to notice or care. “You’re gonna cum for me, aren’t you?” He growled onto the skin of your neck. You nodded frantically. The hand that wasn’t holding you up by your restraints came from behind, wrapping around your neck and squeezing your pulse. Your eyes rolled into the back of your skull, the only sound that you could focus on being the sound of skin meeting skin. “Cum for me, then. Cum for daddy.” You couldn’t speak before, but with Spencer’s hand around your neck, you could barely make a noise either. Your legs shook as you came, feeling Spencer do the same not too long afterward. His grip around your throat loosened and he gently pulled the tie out of your mouth as pulled out of you. You gasped for air, still suspended in the upright position he was holding you in. After allowing you to breathe he carefully pulled you off of the desk, standing you up straight and undoing the belt wrapped around your wrists. They were sore and you rubbed them gently, meeting his eyes.
“You were loud,” you breathed out, voice hoarse. “What if someone heard?”
He zipped up his pants and wiped the sweat from his forehead, pocketing his tie which has been rendered unwearable.
“No one heard.” He reassured you and you followed suit and redressed.
“I can’t believe that you… that we…” You stared at him, emotions taking hold, and you felt your eyes water.
He noticed, eyes widening in panic. “Are you okay? Did I hurt you?” He asked quickly.
“No, no. I’m fine. I’m fine. Just… randomly feeling emotional.” You dismissed him, eyes directed at the floor.
“Oh. Don’t feel bad, that’s actually quite common. It’s called post-coital dysphoria, or PCD. It’s when you experience intense emotions like sadness or melancholy after sex. It’ll go away in a few minutes.”
There he was, always ready to tell you exactly what was wrong. It was nice to know it was normal, you guessed, but you wished you could’ve gotten some actual sympathy. Oh well. It would be gone in a few minutes, right?
“One of us should probably leave first, you know? Stagger our arrivals.” Spencer suggested. You nodded. “I’ll go first. I’m gonna head to the bathrooms.”
Spencer gave you a small smile and wave as you exited. You made your way to the bathroom, and as you passed by the main office-space you noticed Hotch in a room with Derek and Emily. Thank god, at the very least they hadn’t heard you. You scurried to the bathroom, walking inside to see Garcia.
“Hey babycakes!” She grinned. “You look like you’ve been through a wind tunnel,” she noticed. You laughed. “Long day. Hangovers are a bitch.” You ran into a stall and waited until she left the bathroom to use the mirror and fix yourself the best you could. You smoothed your hair and clothes out, readjusting your lipstick and wiping the running mascara from under your eyes. When you left the bathroom you saw Spencer returning to his desk, his hair still attractively tousled. Suddenly you watched Rossi approach Spencer, and his eyes widened. Oh fuck. Wait. Had Rossi been unaccounted for this whole time? Anxiety coursed through your veins as you walked past the pair, who seemed to go silent as you came into view.
Fuck. Fuck. You were fucked. And not in a good way. In the absolute worst way. You didn’t know what you would do if anyone on the team knew what had happened, but Rossi finding out was for some reason especially embarrassing. He was like a father figure to you. A cool Italian father figure. And now he potentially knew that you were having rough sex at work with your colleague. Great. Fan-fucking-tastic.
All praise Spencer Reid, king of ruining your life.

10 Things Men Do Only When They’re In Love
“Does he love me?” It’s a question that has been asked since the beginning of time. Men are hard to read, but if you know what you’re looking for, you can catch the tiny details that show you the answer. Here are 10 things men do only when they’re in love.
1. He talks to you all the time He wants to know how your day has gone, and he wants to tell you about his. You learn about his family, his friends, his childhood, his dreams, his goals… you name it, he’s told you about it.
But it’s not all one way; he also listens to you when you talk. How do you know he listens? Because he remembers names and dates and people and things that are important to you. He doesn’t dismiss your opinions or your pipe dreams. Some couples talk constantly but never really say anything. Communication is key.
2. He doesn’t give up during rough patches “Does he really love me?” you might wonder during the rough patches. Every couple argues. But does he admit his mistakes and not gloat over yours? Does he walk away or “get back” at you… or does he try to make it right?
Not giving up on the relationship doesn’t mean he always says “yes dear” to you. It means that he sees something worth working toward and fighting for. He looks for ways to strengthen your relationship, not pick it apart.
3. He makes you part of his circle He makes you part of his circle | 10 Things Men Do Only When They’re In Love  One milestone of a relationship is getting introduced to your partner’s friends, relatives, coworkers — and you are folded into the group. Sure, there might be “that” friend or “that” relative you just don’t get along with, for whatever reason.
But if he chooses to have your back with them, then he’s thinking in terms of “we” and not “me.” And that is a wonderful answer to “Is he really in love with me?”
4. He runs errands with you Any couple can go out and have good times, but real couples go out and do grocery shopping or run errands together. Real couples sit in the waiting room at the dentist with each other.
The idea is to be together even when you’re not “on,” when you’re not all dressed to impress. That’s not to say you should be joined at the hip 24/7, but if you like to be together even during mundane tasks, that’s a good sign.
5. He wants to hold your hand This is a major sign that things are good: if he’s always finding reasons to touch you. Holding your hand, especially in public, is a big plus. Or he brushes your hair out of your face or puts his hand on your knee when you’re sitting together.
I don’t mean excessive kissing and groping in public, but quiet, gentle indications that he wants to be near you. You know those old couples holding hands in the park? That’s what you want to aim for.
6. He loves you even on your off days Nobody’s perfect. You’re going to have bad hair days or miserable brain days, and you’re not going to be your best sometimes. But the man who loves you sees beyond that. He loves the whole package, not just the outside.
He knows that when you’re down you need picking up, not picking on. And he’s concerned if you’re having a bad streak. The question is not “is he in love with me?” but “is he still in love with me despite my bad days?”
7. He has your back He has your back | 10 Things Men Do Only When They’re In Love | Life 360 Chivalry is not dead. Men like to be protective, and even though women don’t always need protection, the gesture is important. When a man is in love with you, he will try to keep you from getting hurt, physically, and emotionally.
After all, if you’re a team, then what hurts one hurts you both. Men understand this and real men will do anything to make sure you’re both in it together.
8. He lets you spend time away from him If a man really is in love with you then he won’t be jealous of your friends or your time with them. You have a whole life full of interests from before you met him and it’s the same with him. As long as the time you spend together is good, it doesn’t matter if you go away for a weekend with the girls or vice versa.
Trust is a key factor. If you have to ask “does he still love me?” after a weekend trip to Vegas, then you need to talk it out.
9. You laugh together You laugh together | 10 Things Men Do Only When They’re In Love | Life 360 This is one you should see early on. If you’re wondering “is he falling in love with me?” this should make you smile. Men learn to socialize by playful banter and joking around. If you can make each other laugh — without hurting the other’s feelings or telling them they’re too sensitive — then this is a great sign.
Laugh together about things. Laugh at each other’s jokes and each other’s mistakes — and your own — and you can face anything together. If he can joke and let his guard down around you, he’s definitely into you.
10. He’s your biggest fan He thinks you’re awesome and what you do — your career, your hobbies, your volunteer work — is as awesome as you are. He has no trouble singing your praises to anyone who listens; your success doesn’t diminish his.
He’s so proud of what you accomplish and loves to promote your cause. No one is more loyal or supportive, and that’s the way it should be.

Tom Walker and the Devil
S’funny. Even after the whole business with the apple in Eden, even after Sodom ‘n Gomorrah and Herod and the Crusades and the entirety of the fourteenth century, the human capacity for willful blindness still amazes me.
Hm? Oh, don’t start on their supposed “capacity for goodness and optimism” again, angel. Look—look, don’t you dare start going off about the “ineffability of His plan” or I’m taking the wine and finding somewhere else to have a nice drink. What? Oh, so it’s proof you want, eh? Well, I was in the New World recently, and you wouldn’t believe the rate at which humans made deals with me, then tried to weasel out of them once they got cold feet!
Names? Well…there was Deacon Peabody, Absalom Crownshield… oh, and then there was Tom Walker. He was a riot, Tom was. The others, they at least had a reason for making deals with me; Deacon thought he was ensuring that his offspring would continue to live comfortably and have plenty of influence by swindling the natives out of their land, and Absalom became a buccaneer and displayed great riches to impress the mousy daughter of a fishmonger. Tom was only ever interested in how much money he had in his own pocket, a proper miser through and through! He never spent any money on firewood, nor on repairs for his shack, not even of food for his horse! …Yes angel, but the horse died eventually, so at least it wasn’t suffering very long. The only woman to ever marry him was just as miserly as he, and she had a fearsome temper! Attacked anyone who vexed her with fingernails and teeth and— …yes, angel that is how I got these scratches. Stop sniggering.
Anyway, going back to Tom Walker—I thought I’d told you to stop sniggering. Thank you. Where was I? Oh, right. I met Tom Walker when he decided to stray from the path, if you’ll pardon the pun, and managed to stumble into my neck of the woods where I was sheltering in an old fort the natives had abandoned. No it wasn’t very comfortable, I was miserable and wet half the time, but it had atmosphere, you see? Dark, dangerous, inconveniently hard to reach, really lets people know what they’re dealing with, doesn’t it? I even went through the trouble of starting a few rumors about it being a sacrificial alter to demonic spirits.
So old Tom sits down to catch his breath, and he manages to unearth a skull which he then kicks. Taking that as my cue, I appear, with my axe and half-native garb and dark skin all covered with soot and—what? No, I don’t know why I was covered in soot. It’s based off of what scares him, remember? Maybe he was scared of blacksmiths, or an honest day’s work. Anyway, we get to talking, and I show him this new system for remembering my victims that I created; I carve their names into a tree, the interior of which rots in accordance to how rotten their souls are, and I count down the days until I can collect them by hitting each tree with my axe until they die and the tree falls down. What? Oh, what d’you mean “poor, innocent trees?” Trees aren’t capable of moral action, let alone innocence or guilt! No, look—look, forget about the trees for a second, and let me carry on with my story, will you?!
Where was I…so I show him my remembering system (not one word about trees if you want to keep those feathers) give him the sales banter about how I’m responsible for all human evils, blah de blah de blah, and he guesses that I’m “Old Scratch” as they call my lot over there. We get to talking, and I mention that I know where the treasure of the pirate Kidd is buried and that only those in my favor can get at it—complete lies of course, anyone could get at the stuff, though there’s not much left to get at now—and Tom begins salivating. I mean, drool dripping down his chin and everything, the entire works. Of course he clams up a bit when I mention the conditions of the bargain being selling his soul. Of course, I’d sort of expected that; he’s a miser, and misers never want to give away anything that they perceive as having value to other people, even if they don’t value it themselves. No—no he didn’t angel, otherwise why would his soul be in poor enough condition for me to take an interest in the first place? Haven’t got an answer for that one, have you? Thought not. I tell him to go home and think on it for a few days and I brand him with my thumb as a sign of good faith and partly because it heightens the experience. No, he didn’t feel a thing, and besides it’s not like your lot are any less dramatic.
So I wait. The next day, to my surprise, a grouchy woman comes along at about twilight and demands that I give her the same deal I gave her husband. No, I wasn’t happy. What d’you mean why?! Because I’m meant to choose souls that will cause the most collateral generation of evil! Take Deacon Peabody for instance. He swindles those natives off of their land. Those natives then have to go find somewhere else to live. They don’t trust settlers anymore, so they may attack any lone merchants that they come across. That merchant, if he isn’t dead, is likely to be more surly and rude to his coworkers and distrusts the natives more than ever, so he drives harder bargains when dealing with them. And the cycle continues on and on until low-level evil accumulates into something really horrifying. Like Salem. Now, this only works if someone in a position of relative influence is able to do something that effects a group on a wide scale, and I ask you, what kind of influence does a housewife have in this day and age? Absolutely none. Forming a contract to get her soul when it’s obviously going down there anyway would be a complete waste.
So I decide to mess with her a bit, and tell her that if she wants to make a deal with me she has to bring me every portable thing she considers valuable in her house. Of course, she looks very put out about that, but she goes home and comes back the next evening with her apron laden with the stuff. I tell her to take it off and give it to me, which she does unwillingly. Then I go “see ya!” and start running. You should’ve seen her face!! It was hilarious. Practically priceless… yeah, it stopped being funny when she sprung on me like a mountain lion and began clawing my face off.
I didn’t even know what was going on at first. One moment she was standing there, the next she was mauling me! So I throw her off of me, but I didn’t really look where I was throwing, and she ended up sort of impaled…well, more like split in half by one of the trees’ branches. Oh, don’t give me that look! It was an accident and you know it! Why did the trees even have branches like that—obviously they need to look intimidating! Have you ever tried to make a tree look scary? It’s next to impossible! You’ve got to make the trunk all gnarled and knotty and the branches look like they’re curling down to grasp you! And—fine, I’ll get on with it. Well, since the body was just there and not really doing anything so I, uh, took its organs, and wrapped them up in her apron, and left them for Tom to find. His scream was pretty hilarious too, now that I think about it.
So a few evenings later, Tom comes back and agrees to the deal. We haggled a bit, him refusing to be a slave trader no matter what, funnily enough. Eventually we settled on him being a usurer, which he was very eager to start with. He started out small, creating a good reputation for himself and began to drive people to bankruptcy during a recession. The poorer the person, the harder his terms, and he was soon able to afford himself a fine house and carriage with horses to pull it. Of course, he let the house and carriage fall into disrepair because he was too lazy to pay for its upkeep. The horses starved, like usual. I, for my part, was just hanging around, waiting for the perfect moment to strike down the tree with his name on it. I made some deals with other mortals, even getting this minister to leave his congregation to become a slaver with the excuse that pagan peoples deserved a life of servitude to Christian masters. But none of them were ever as entertaining as Tom. He got extremely paranoid about me collecting my due. To try and trick me out of it, he became an avid churchgoer, praying louder than the pious, carrying around a small bible in his coat and keeping a huge one on his desk in his counting house. You should’ve seen that thing. It was bigger than a whole human baby. I measured.
Anyway, one afternoon during the dog days of summer, Tom was doing what he did best—turning away some poor sot who had made the mistake of borrowing money from him. But what sets this speculator apart from the others is that he’s persistent, and he eventually frustrates Tom to the point where Tom exclaims “The Devil take me if I ever made a farthing!” Those, of course are the words I was waiting to hear. I appear with a pitch black horse, and tell him in my deepest voice that he’s come for. He goes really pale, and his eyes bulge like a toad’s stomach, but there’s nothing he can do because his two bibles are upstairs and well away from me. I fling him onto the horse and set it galloping down the street at such a pace that his clerks have to stick their pens in their ears to dull the noise of hooves. The horse took Tom out of the town, back into the woods where he first met me, and bucked him off into a ravine that was the resting place of what remained of Kidd’s treasure. He broke his neck, and his body was never found, as a thunderbolt set the entire forest ablaze that night. When the trustees tried to take charge of his property, nothing was found except cinders and wood shavings. In his stable there were skeletons instead of horses and his great house also burned down. Such was the end of Tom Walker.
Hm? Oh, what d’you mean, this wouldn’t have happened but for me? Look, he and his wife were going down there anyway because of how miserly they were. All I did was provide him an opportunity to tap into his greater potential for evil. Even then, he took his job to extremes that my suggestions barely covered. If he’d wanted to, he could have just lent out money at a reasonable rate, since all usurers, good or bad, belong to my lot. He was the one who delighted in driving others to bankruptcy, willingly and knowingly. Sooner or later your people are going to have to open their eyes and see that maybe the Father’s precious little creations really aren’t so perfect after al—! W-wait, h-hold on a minute, angel, b-be reasonable and put the bloody holy water down—!

Title: I don’t usually give in to peer pressure (But I’ll give in to yours)
Pairing: Staubrey
Chapters: 1/1
Wordcount: 2902
Summary: Brooklyn Nine-Nine AU (Inspired by episode 1x13 “The Bet”)
Aubrey Posen loses a bet with fellow detective Stacie Conrad, resulting in being forced into the "worst date ever" with her, but things turn out better than she expects.
And maybe there's something there between them...
As Stacie Conrad knelt on one knee in front of her, presenting a ring in a blue box, Aubrey didn’t know if she had ever felt this humiliated.
She was supposed to win this dumb bet of solving more felonies than Conrad, and prove once and for all that she was the better detective. (And also take Stacie’s prized 1994 Mustang in the process.) But somehow, Conrad managed to run a prostitution ring and snag five extra felonies with an hour to spare of their deadline. So instead of holding her head up in triumph, Aubrey slumped her shoulders in defeat, awaiting her fate with an extremely bruised ego.
“Will you go on the worst date ever with me? You have to say yes.” Stacie grinned up at her.
“Yes.” She muttered, looking anywhere but at the woman in front of her.
“She said yes!”
The bullpen burst into hollers and applause, and music blasted from some boombox dug out for who knew where. Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” filled the room as everyone but Aubrey celebrated her misery.
This had to be the worst day of her life.

Aubrey groaned when she heard the firm knocks on her apartment door at 7 pm. She shifted her dress one last time before prying the door open.
Stacie stood smiling in the doorway, wearing a medium length black dress that perfectly accentuated her cleavage. (Not that Aubrey was looking there.) She held a bouquet of roses, and gave Aubrey an immediate once over. “I was right, hot pink does look dashing on you. Though I think the person in the dress is what makes the color hot…”
Aubrey rolled her eyes. “I look like freaking Elle Woods. Do I seriously have to wear this the entire night?”
“Yes ma’am. Though you might get to have it off early if you play your cards right.” Stacie teased with a wink.
Aubrey rolled her eyes again.
Stacie grinned and handed over the roses. “For you.”
“Conrad, you know I don’t like flowers. They’re wasteful and impractical and as my father always says—“
“Yes yes of course but a lady deserves her flowers.” Stacie interrupted. “Now let us go lest us be late to our celebration at the bar.”
“Are you going to speak like you’re from thirteenth century time the entire night, or?”
Stacie merely tutted at the jab and led her to her car parked across the street, pausing before the passenger door.
“Oh and there is one rule of the night. Break it at your own risk.” Stacie said solemnly, and Aubrey quirked her eyebrows. “No matter what happens… you aren’t allowed to fall in love with me.” Stacie deadpanned.
“Won’t be a problem.” Aubrey replied with equal inexpression.
“Great.” Stacie brightened and opened the passenger side door. “Into the car now m’lady, we’ve got a date to begin!”
They made pleasant small talk on the drive to the bar. Aubrey briefly worried if their “date” setting would make things awkward, but they quickly fell into familiar banter. Besides the excessively floral and pink dress she was forced to wear, the date was far from being the worst she’s ever been on.
They arrived at Barden’s, the de facto hang out spot of the ninety ninth precinct, and as Aubrey went off to the bathroom (after asking permission, and Stacie cheekily giving it), Stacie found a spot next to her fellow detective of the nine-nine, Cynthia Rose, at the bar.
“So how’s the date going with you and Posen?”
“Well, I’ve got a lot on the list.” Stacie began counting off on her fingers. “After hanging here for a bit, we’re going to Times Square and taking pictures with every single person in costume there. Hoping to see lots of cookie monsters. Then, we’re having dinner at a super fancy Italian place but we’ll be bringing our own bottle of wine, which was the cheapest I could find at the corner store, and is even labeled as ‘wine drink’. Finally, a night walking tour where I will ask our guide loads of dumb questions and say they’re all from Aubrey.”
Cynthia Rose narrowed her eyes in suspicion. “That’s a lot of effort and money going into quote unquote, ‘the worst date ever.’”
Stacie shrugged. “I’ll only have this one chance to make her do anything I want.” She frowned. “Wait, that sounded wrong.”
“Or,” Cynthia Rose mused. “You’re taking this as your one chance to romance her…Oh my god.” Realization dawned on her. “You still have a crush on Posen!”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Stacie found it was a perfect time to look at her nails.
“You still have a crush on her after two years? I thought you were past that. Girl, you are so gone.”
CR looked pointedly at Stacie in silent challenge while she continued not to make any eye contact. They stayed like that for a moment before Stacie broke.
“Okay fine you caught me! Yes I still like her and it’s not like she’s the easiest person to ask on a date.” She threw her hands up in surrender.
“So instead, you just talk about all your dates loudly, mess with her entire organization system, and engage in various bets with her? That’s some real playground stuff, Conrad. You’ve never been the type to pine over someone, so what’s gotten you pulling on the reins with this one?”
Stacie snatched CR’s beer from the counter and took a swig. “Well, Aubrey’s not just someone.”
Cynthia Rose’s smile grew. “Yeah, you’ve got it so bad…”
“Shut up.”
Out of the corner of her eye, Stacie saw Aubrey return from the bathroom and immediately jumped up. “Love to continue chatting CR, but got a date to humiliate.” Stacie said, emphasizing the last word.
“You mean, romance.” CR muttered into her beer that she took back, but Stacie was already gone.
She grabbed Aubrey’s hand, dragging her up onto the mini stage at the front of the bar, despite her protests. Stacie stepped up to the mic propped up on a stand, tapping it to test if it was on. Satisfied, she stood up straight to address the crowd of her fellow coworkers.
“Welcome everyone, to Barden’s inaugural karaoke night!” Stacie announced, and Aubrey whipped her head to look at her in mortification.
“No you didn’t.”
Stacie grinned wickedly. “All songs tonight with be duets with our lovely Aubrey Posen here as your partner. And so, we will be starting off the night with me and her singing ‘Love Is An Open Door’ from Frozen.”
Cheers erupted as the unmistakable opening notes of the song started, and Stacie passed an extra mic to Aubrey. “You’re Hans! Don’t miss your entrance!”
Stacie started speaking on her cue. “Okay, can I just say something crazy?”
“You’re the worst.”
“Not the words, do better.” Stacie quickly said before her next lines. “All my life has been a series of doors in my face. And then suddenly I bump into you.”
Aubrey resigned with a dramatic sigh. “I was thinking the same thing! Cause like…”
Stacie was pleasantly surprised when Aubrey started singing, as she was actually really good. She made a mental note to ask about it later, and also to tease her that the resident “no-fun-allowed” Posen knew all the words to the Disney song.
Just as Stacie was about to start the second song (she queued up “Take Me Or Leave Me” from Rent), she heard a “Conrad!” calling from her side.
“Chloe, tag in!” She shouted to her friend as she jumped off the stage and walked over to see what her captain wanted.
“What’s up?”
“One of your informants called about a shipment happening tonight, and since it’s your case, I’m going to need you to stake out the spot.”
Stacie flashed through all the date ideas she still had planned (“how romantic” Cynthia Rose’s voice echoed annoyingly in her head) and hesitated. “Normally Captain, I’d be all down for this but I really was counting on a night of making Aubrey miserable, and I think rescheduling it would lose the first date magic.”
Gail looked unimpressed. “This isn’t up for negotiation.”
“Well, as long as I can bring Posen with me.”
Gail nodded. “Just get it done.”
Stacie turned around to Aubrey singing a duet of “For Good” with Chloe, looking like she was maybe enjoying herself despite her pinched face. “Darling! Duty calls!”
Aubrey cut off a high note with a relieved “Oh thank god” and hurried off the stage, following Stacie to the exit.
“I didn’t know you could actually sing.”
“There’s a lot you don’t know about me.”
They sat in Stacie’s car, observing the entrance of the warehouse in front of them, watching for any movement that might be deemed suspicious. Aubrey finally got to change out of the hideous pink dress and into her spare blouse and dress pants at the precinct, denying Stacie’s offer for the clothes stashed in her car’s trunk.
(“Those are the clothes you’re choosing to change into? When I gave you sweatpants and sweatshirts as options?? I’ll just wear them myself then.”)
“Like how you’re also apparently a closet Disney fan?” Stacie teased.
“I have some taste what can I say?” Aubrey shrugged.
They settled back into quiet, just looking ahead, comfortable in each others presence.
“Hey, can you pass me my binoculars? I think they might in the glovebox.”
Aubrey opened the compartment, and reached in to lift the binoculars to give to Stacie, who put them right to her eyes.
Still curious about what kind of things might be in her coworker’s car, Aubrey snooped through the glovebox, riffling through what seemed like important documents and insurance cards, and finding a massive bundle of something bound together with rubber bands.
Stacie looked over in mild panic at the sound of rustling papers. “Oh wait, don’t look through…that.”
Aubrey took out the object, eyebrows raises in inquiry. “Why do you just have a batch of pens in your car?”
Stacie turned back forward, and Aubrey could have sworn she saw a blush rise on Stacie’s cheeks as she put the binoculars back to her face.
“Just in case the roses actually went super poorly, I’d have a backup plan. Since you like that brand of pen in all those colors, or something.” Stacie said defensively.
“You noticed what kind of pens I like.” Aubrey stated, impressed.
“I’m a detective, I wouldn’t be qualified for my job if I didn’t.”
Aubrey smiled softly. “For the record, I actually did appreciate the roses. That was actually pretty romantic.”
“Shut up.” Stacie retorted for the second time that night, but with no malice. “Hey I think I see a door open to that building over there, wanna look if we can get to the roof for a better view?”
Aubrey squinted. “Looking at your car from this far away, is it red or orange?”
They sat on a stack of wooden planks as their roof lookout spot. Stacie was right, it was a much better vantage point than her car; they were able to get a wider view of the area.
Stacie chuckled. “It’s technically red, but the idiot I paid to do the paint job didn’t do so great, so it’s been peeling steadily forever, and thus you can see the orange under.”
Aubrey looked sternly at Stacie. “Your car still has manual roll up windows. And whenever I’m not hearing about the new date you’ve taken in the car, inappropriately at work I might add, I’m hearing about you bringing it to the shop again. It probably breaks down every month, why do you keep it around?"
Stacie was silent for a minute before slowly starting to answer.
“I have two older brothers, one of which is a doctor, and the other an engineer, and each of them probably make about five times my salary now.” Stacie admitted. “Before joining the police force, I figured that was the kind of thing that I should do, and it was what my parents wanted me to do. So, I originally went to school for chemical engineering, and got a job out graduation at Boston Scientific doing research, but it didn’t really feel right, so I quit after a year and enrolled in the academy.”
“That’s quite a big jump.” Aubrey remarked. “Why police specifically?”
“I watched a bunch of police and crime dramas growing up and always thought they were super cool. And I dunno,” she shrugged. “I guess I wanted to help people too, not just work where I’d make the most money.”
“Noble cause.” Aubrey said, genuinely meaning it.
“And I bought the car when I got my first police paycheck, as a kind of ‘fuck you’ to my family, since they weren’t exactly the most supportive with my choice.” Stacie turned to face Aubrey. “I’m assuming my Mustang has nothing on that sleek Subaru of yours, were you gonna just torch it?”
“Nope.” Aubrey popped the ‘p’ at the end of the word. “I was going to test out if it actually is a chick magnet, since I’m not sure if the rumors are true…” she teased.
Stacie put a hand on her heart in mock offense. “How dare you! I can give you plenty of proof thank you very much.”
“Okay, disgusting.”
Stacie laughed, a wonderful sound to Aubrey’s ears. “I wasn’t even thinking there, for once.” She looked thoughtful. “What about you? Why’d you go into police work? Your dad?”
Everyone knew New York Police Commissioner Posen. “He wants me to be commissioner like him someday,” Aubrey sighed. “But lately, I’m not sure that’s something I want. Like, he was never home when I was growing up, and when—if I have a family someday, I think I’d want to actually spend time with them. I want to make it to captain someday, but further from that I don’t have any plans.” She confessed, then looked apologetic. “Sorry that’s not really something I’ve ever really talked about with anyone.”
Stacie put her hand over Aubrey’s, the support grounding her. “I really appreciate you telling me. I honestly do.”
And suddenly Aubrey realized just how close they were, hands touching and faces just inches apart. She thought she saw Stacie’s eyes flicker down to her lips, but before she can contemplate it any further, they’re jolted out of their reverie by the sound of tires on the concrete nine stories below. They pull apart immediately, and Aubrey weirdly felt a loss of the warmth of Stacie’s hand on hers.
“Shit,” Stacie mutters under her breath, shaking her head as if to brush off some intruding thought.
Aubrey felt the similar need to clear cobwebs from her mind. Was the date real? Was Stacie about to…
“You good there Posen?” Aubrey looked over to see Stacie with her hand out. Did she want to hold hands…?
“I asked for the binocs?”
Right. Of course. The binoculars. Professional setting.
She handed them over and Stacie peered through them at the truck below, now with a couple of men filing out the front.
“Those look like our guys. Wanna go bust them?”
“Does Pilot sell fountain pens? What’s the plan?”
“I’m going to take that as a yes. Follow my lead.”
They arrested the two guys without problem, catching them off guard by pretending to be a lost, slightly tipsy, couple. After bringing them in, as it was late, they decided to just head home instead of rejoining everyone at Barden’s.
Stacie followed Aubrey up the stairs to her apartment, one hand on her lower back over her blouse. It pulled away once they got to their destination though, and Aubrey immediately missed the contact.
“You know you don’t have to walk with me to my door, I’m not going to get snatched in the five steps from your car.” Aubrey said in amusement.
“You never know! And also it’s just date etiquette.”
“Wasn’t this supposed to be the worst date ever?” Aubrey’s eyebrow quirked.
“Some rules can’t be broken even for bad dates.”
“Like walking someone back to their door.”
“Exactly.”
Aubrey actually had a much better night than she expected, not that she would admit it. It might have helped that the stakeout cut off any of Stacie’s other plans, probably each more humiliating than singing musical duets in front of all her coworkers.
“Right, and speaking of rules,” Stacie started in a serious tone, “did you manage to follow the only one of tonight?” Aubrey looked confused, so she continued. “The one where you can’t fall in love with me.”
“Ah yes,” Aubrey nodded in solemn recognition. “Of course. It was really hard, but I think I managed.”
A flash of emotion (disappointment?) flickered on Stacie’s face but quickly disappeared. “Well, good.” She glanced at her watch. “And, it’s officially past midnight, so I guess you’re off the hook, Posen. See you at work Monday.” Before Aubrey could react, Stacie placed a soft kiss to her cheek, and whispered a “bye” a hairbreadth away from Aubrey’s mouth, pairing it with the sweetest smile, before turning and walking back to her car.
As Aubrey watched Stacie’s back get smaller, she brought a hand to where Stacie’s lips touched, the skin seemingly electrified.
Maybe she did break the “not falling in love” rule.

LEAVE ALL OF YOUR INDECISiONS WITH YOU AT HOME
summary:  At Raven's birthday party, Bellamy ends up chatting with Clarke Griffin, while both of them are hiding their smoking habits at the balcony. And she's undeniably the girl of his young bad boy's dreams.
pairing: Bellamy x Clarke
words: 1,830
At Raven’s twenty-fourth birthday party, Bellamy doesn’t really know what to do. He pretty much barely knows her, and everybody knows he’s here because he doesn’t drink that much and he’ll give a bunch of people a ride home.
Octavia dragged him here. At least he got to bring Miller along, but not long into the party, he ended up flirting with one of Octavia’s friends—Monty? Bellamy’s never sure—and now, Bellamy’s alone.
And doesn’t know what to do.
Sitting on the couch gives him a good overview of what’s happening where, so he does it, sipping from the one beer he’s allowed to have tonight.
It’s a house party, but Raven’s roommates are rich so the entire house is just rich. It’s not that there are many decorations, really, but Bellamy feels the quality of the fake leather he’s sitting on. He can see that everything has value, even if it’s relatively minimalistically decorated – it’s very spacious, breathable, and Bellamy feels kind of lost when he’s in such spaces.
He sees the birthday girl, serving someone from the minibar her and her roommates have come up with. She’s smiling and probably flirting with a guy dressed up a lot nicer than Bellamy is—he didn’t know it was that big of a party when, in retrospect, he really should’ve known—and he kind of wishes he could talk to her, at least.
O is dancing with her boyfriend on the makeshift dance floor, with her friends Jasper and Maia and a bunch of people Bellamy doesn’t recognize. There’s a girl with slick, black hair dancing with a pretty blonde, and a tattooed girl dancing with someone who looks a lot like one his coworker—
Wait. That is Murphy.
Bellamy waits until the song is over and he watches Murphy walk to the other side of the room alone, probably going to get drinks. Bellamy catches up.
“Hey, Murphy,” he says. “Didn’t think I’d see you here.”
Murphy scoffs, but Bellamy’s had a long time to learn it bears on ill intent. “My girlfriend Emori is practically besties with the party girl. Who am I to say no to a party?”
Watching him get two beers out of the minifridge, Bellamy has to agree.
The two of them lean against the bar, looking at the entirety of the room. Even if he’s dressed appropriately for a party, Bellamy feels like he doesn’t feet in, while Murphy looks like he’s just finished working out and looks exactly like the type of person you’d expect to see at this party.
Maybe Bellamy’s just getting old. He’s never been into parties, anyway.
“And what about you, babysitting? I saw Octavia on the dance floor.”
“Yeah. Also driving a bunch of people home.”
“Huh. So you really are a dad.”
“Shut up.”
Murphy raises beer into a toast, and Bellamy happily obliges. “Gotta get back to my lady, if you’ll excuse me.”
As far as frienemies go, Murphy’s a good one to have.
He walks around for a little bit, and he feels himself growing stressed. He doesn’t do well in spaces that make his life feel miserable, he doesn’t well with a bunch of people, and he doesn’t do well especially with a bunch of unfamiliar people.
This is usually the point where he’s drunk enough to forget about all that. But he promised Octavia.
He sees Raven, he talks to her for a bit, but they barely know each other since she’s Octavia’s friend, not his. Nearly everybody here is about four years younger than him, but it feels like there has to be a decade between them.
Bellamy really is getting old.
About two months ago, he made a promise he wouldn’t smoke anymore. He’s been smoking since he was sixteen and his mom got sick, and it’s a decade old habit that’s just making his life easier.
He does well with nicotine patches, though, but sometimes it’s the raw smoke in his lungs that does the trick, not the nicotine.
But Bellamy doesn’t vape. It’s dumb.
Now, he’d like to say he’s quit entirely, but he still carries a pack with him out of habit. Right now, his hands are in his pockets, one fiddling with his favourite crimson lighter and another with Malboro Reds.
Raven has a balcony, and it’s winter, so no one should be spending their time there.
He makes up his mind fairly quickly, just checks O’s not seeing him sneak out.
And lucky for him, because Bellamy’s a social smoker, he’s not alone. The blonde from before is leaning against the fence, looking at downtown Washington, DC, with a lit cigarette between her index and middle finger and smoke running smoothly over her lips.
“Hi,” Bellamy says, and closes the glass door behind him.
The city sounds different from up here than he’s used to. He can see the cars, but they are rare and he knows this is a rich neighbourhood, and it feels weird to be here.
Like this kind of view isn’t meant for people like him.
The fact that his heart immediately startes beating slower when the loud music of the party is muffled doesn’t help. The city feels a little dead, and old, and ancient, and Bellamy can kind of relate.
“Penny for your thoughts?” asks the girl. She has a deep, smoker voice, the kind Bellamy’s always had a thing for.
He lights his cigarette. When he breathes in, knowing it’s his first smoke in two months, it feels freeing. Awful and defiant, but freeing from the madness he’s had to endure.
“I don’t like parties.”
The girl gives him a dry laugh, one that he can also relate to. “Me either. It’s Raven’s, though, and I’m a good roommate who loves her and wants her to have the best fucking time of her life.”
“Roommate. So you’re…” He tries, desperately, to remember the names of Raven’s two roommates, but he can’t. Maybe O never told him.
“Clarke.” She extends him her hand and he takes it. Before he can introduce himself, she says, “You’re Octavia’s brother, right? Bellamy?”
“Yeah. How’d you know?”
God, he missed smoking.
“You kind of look similar. Also, I knew Raven said she had a hot smoker brother a couple of years older, a teacher, and you look just the type.”
She not only knows about him, but she’s hitting on him.
He takes her in. She’s wearing a black leather jacket that looks like she’s meddled with it, and tight leather pants that make the curve of her ass really stand out, and Bellamy thinks her breasts must be in the same level, even if he can’t see them from this angle. She’s sporting a short blonde bob with a red streak in it, full lips and a pale face that looks as dangerous as riding a motorcycle without a helmet on.
Suddenly, Bellamy is sixteen again and picking up girls on his motorcycle, wearing all leather with a cigarette hanging from his mouth, before he makes out with his passenger against a random tree in the woods.
Has Bellamy hit jackpot or something?
“Thanks,” he says. “I never heard she had a hot roommate, I must admit.”
Clarke laughs for real this time, and the cheery sound of it takes him aback. “All of the people who live in here are hot, objectively. Raven, me, and Lexa.”
“And rich,” he says.
“And rich.” She flicks the butt of her cigarette over the fence and looks at him. “Can I get one?”
He hands her a cigarette and his lighter, and she closes her eyes when she inhales the smoke for the first time. She hands his things back to him and he does the same.
“I told Raven I quit, so we’re not allowed to have cigarettes in the apartment.”
“I told Octavia the same, two months ago.”
“Did you? Quit?”
“Yeah.” He smirks, because he knows she’ll get it. “Until I had to spend an hour with a bunch of random people at a party.”
“You really don’t do parties, do you?”
“Never did,” he says, and it’s true. He might’ve had a motorcycle and picked up girls at parties, but he never actually stayed there. He’s charming one-on-one. Anything else is too much. “What’s your story?”
“Saw my ex. She’s a friend of Octavia’s.”
“Niylah?”
“Yup.”
“Oh.”
There’s silence for a while, while thye each finish their cigarette and Bellamy offers her the pack before she asks. They both go for the third, and he realizes he’s enjoying her company a lot more than he’d expect.
“Sex.”
He looks at her for a long second. “What?”
“Sex can help with stress. You don’t have to smoke.”
“I don’t know,” he admits. “It’s too much work. You buy cigarettes and that’s it, you have them. With girls it’s… they just need too much.”
“You haven’t gotten laid in a long time, have you? How?”
“Beats me,” he says, jokingly.
But she isn’t smiling. “No, I’m serious. You’re hot and smart and seem like a really nice person, it doesn’t make sense.”
“Guess you have to be into guys to not be into me,” he tries to joke. Obviously, her calling him hot is just objectively – which he doesn’t agree with, but sure.
This time, she smiles and really looks at him and for a moment he enjoys it, but then realizes it’s more of a laughing smile. “I’m into girls and boys.”
“Cool. Then, by your own logic, why’d you say you don’t want to sleep with me?”
“Well,” Clarke says, “who said I don’t? But don’t get your panties in a twist – you’re buying me dinner, first.”
She’s smirking, now, because she knows exactly how she’s gotten his panties in a twist. And she’s half turned in his direction, and Bellamy’s been enjoying the banter and her personality and the sight of her that honestly, taking her to dinner does seem like a bother when all he wants to do is take up on her offer.
And she’s too hot.
Damn.
He doesn’t even care about shaking off his cigarette before cupping her cheek with one hand and leaning in, pressing lips against hers. It’s not long before she opens her mouth and they’re on the verge of making out.
Clarke’s the one to pull away.
“That’s all you get, for now.”
He still gives her a quick kiss. “I’m here tomorrow at eight.”
“Deal.”
“You know what? I still think girls are too much work.”
“Well then, you could try guys.”
“If you don’t work out, I just might.”
And she kisses him again, and by that point, he’s forgotten all about cigarettes or stress or nervousness, and all he can think about are his fingers sliding underneath her shirt and feeling the warmth of his skin, and his lips on her neck while she lets out a quiet moan.
Yeah. He has a good feeling about this.

10 Things Men Do Only When They’re In Love
Tumblr media
“Does he love me?” It’s a question that has been asked since the beginning of time. Men are hard to read, but if you know what you’re looking for, you can catch the tiny details that show you the answer. Here are 10 things men do only when they’re in love.
1. He talks to you all the time
He wants to know how your day has gone, and he wants to tell you about his.
2. He doesn’t give up during rough patches
“Does he really love me?” you might wonder during the rough patches.
3. He makes you part of his circle
One milestone of a relationship is getting introduced to your partner’s friends, relatives, coworkers — and you are folded into the group. Sure, there might be “that” friend or “that” relative you just don’t get along with, for whatever reason.
But if he chooses to have your back with them, then he’s thinking in terms of “we” and not “me.” And that is a wonderful answer to “is he really in love with me?”
4. He runs errands with you
Any couple can go out and have good times, but real couples go out and do grocery shopping or run errands together. Real couples sit in the waiting room at the dentist with each other.
The idea is to be together even when you’re not “on,” when you’re not all dressed to impress. That’s not to say you should be joined at the hip 24/7, but if you like to be together even during mundane tasks, that’s a good sign.
5. He wants to hold your hand
This is a major sign that things are good: if he’s always finding reasons to touch you. Holding your hand, especially in public, is a big plus. Or he brushes your hair out of your face, or puts his hand on your knee when you’re sitting together.
I don’t mean excessive kissing and groping in public, but quiet, gentle indications that he wants to be near you. You know those old couples holding hands in the park? That’s what you want to aim for.
6. He loves you even on your off days
Nobody’s perfect.
7. He has your back
Chivalry is not dead. Men like to be protective, and even though women don’t always need protecting, the gesture is important. When a man is in love with you, he will try to keep you from getting hurt, physically and emotionally.
After all, if you’re a team, then what hurts one hurts you both. Men understand this and real men will do anything to make sure you’re both in it together.
8. He lets you spend time away from him
If a man really is in love with you then he won’t be jealous of your friends or your time with them.
9. You laugh together
This is one you should see early on.
10. He’s your biggest fan
He thinks you’re awesome and what you do — your career, your hobbies, your volunteer work — is as awesome as you are. He has no trouble singing your praises to anyone who listens; your success doesn’t diminish his.
He’s so proud of what you accomplish and loves to promote your cause. No one is more loyal or supportive, and that’s the way it should be.
If your man exhibits several of these signs, congratulations! He’s in love with you! You might want to look for these signs that he’s going to propose soon.
But if your man didn’t fare so well on this test, you might want to check out these body language signs he’s just not that into you. No point in wasting time on a man who doesn’t treat you the way you deserve.

This is a serious sign that things are good: if he’s always finding reasons to the touch you. Holding your hand, especially publicly,  maybe a  big plus. Or he brushes your hair out of your face or puts his hand on your knee when you’re sitting together.
I don’t mean excessive kissing and groping publicly, but quiet, gentle indications that he wants to be near you.  you recognize those old couples holding hands within the park? That’s what you would like to aim for. 6. He loves you even on your off days
Nobody’s perfect. You’re getting to have bad hair days or miserable brain days, and you’re not getting to be your best sometimes. But the person who loves you sees beyond that. He loves the entire package, not just the surface.
He knows that when you’re down you would like learning, not picking on. And he’s concerned if you’re having a nasty streak. The question  isn't  “is he  crazy  with me?” but “is he still  crazy  with me despite my bad days?” 7. He has your back
Chivalry isn't dead. Men wish to be protective, and albeit women don’t always need protection, the gesture is vital. When a person is crazy with you, he will attempt to keep you from getting hurt, physically and emotionally.
After all, if you’re a team, then what hurts one hurts you both. Men understand this and real men will do anything to form sure you’re both in it together. 8. He  allows you to  spend time  faraway from  him
If a person is crazy with you then he won’t be jealous of your friends or some time with them.  you've got an entire life filled with interests from before you met him and it’s an equivalent with him. As long because the time you spend together is sweet, it doesn’t matter if you get away for a weekend with the women or the other way around.
Trust may be a  key factor. If you've got to ask “does he still love me?” after a weekend trip to Vegas, then you would like to speak it out. 9. You laugh together This is one you ought to see early. If you’re wondering “is he falling crazy with me?”  this could cause you to smile. Men learn to socialize by playful banter and joking around. If you'll make one another laugh — without hurting the other’s feelings or telling them they’re too sensitive — then this is often an excellent sign.
Laugh together about things.  tease each other’s jokes and every other’s mistakes — and your own — and you'll face anything together. If he can joke and let his guard down around you, he’s definitely into you. 10. He’s your biggest fan
He thinks you’re awesome and what you are doing  — your career, your hobbies, your volunteer work — is as awesome as you're. He has no trouble singing your praises to anyone who listens; your success doesn’t diminish his.
He’s so pleased with what you accomplish and likes to promote your cause.  nobody is more loyal or supportive, and that’s the way it should be.
If your man exhibits several of those signs, congratulations! He’s crazy with you!  you would possibly want to seem for these signs that he’s getting to propose soon.
But if your man didn’t fare so well on this test,  you would possibly want to see out these visual communication signs he’s just not that into you. No point in dalliance on a person who doesn’t treat you the way you deserve.

10 Things Men Do Only When They’re In Love
“Does he love me?” It’s an issue that has been asked since the start of your time. Men are hard to read, but if you recognize what you’re trying to find, you'll catch the small details that show you the solution. Here are 10 things men do only they’re crazy. 1. He talks to you all the time He wants to understand how your day has gone, and he wants to inform you about his. You study his family, his friends, his childhood, his dreams, his goals… you name it, he’s told you about it.
Tumblr media
But it’s not all one way; he also listens to you once you talk. How does one know he listens? Because he remembers names and dates and other people and things that are important to you. He doesn’t dismiss your opinions or your pipe dreams. Some couples talk constantly but never really say anything. Communication is vital.
2. He doesn’t hand over during rough patches “Does he love me?” you would possibly wonder during the rough patches. Every couple argues. But does he admit his mistakes and not gloat over yours? Does he walk off or “get back” at you… or does he attempt to make it right?
Not abandoning on the connection doesn’t mean he always says “yes dear” to you. It means he sees something worth working toward and fighting for. He looks for tactics to strengthen your relationship, not pick it apart.
3. He causes you to a part of his circle One milestone of a relationship is getting introduced to your partner’s friends, relatives, coworkers — and you're folded into the group. Sure, there could be “that” friend or “that” relative you only don’t get alongside, for whatever reason.
But if he chooses to possess your back with them, then he’s thinking in terms of “we” and not “me.” which may be a wonderful answer to “is he crazy with me?”
4. He runs errands with you Any couple can leave and have good times, but real couples leave and do grocery shopping or run errands together. Real couples sit within the lounge at the dentist with one another.

2. He doesn’t give up during rough patches
“Does he really love me?” you might wonder during the rough patches.
9. You laugh together
This is one you should see early on.
