Last Twilight Ep 3 Stray Thoughts
Last time, Mhok began working and was pleased with his salary. He may be rough around the edges, but he was doing his "easy" job. He had some initial friction with Day around moving his things and taking care of the fish, but things came to a head when Day tried to run from strangers seeing his condition. Mhok got triggered, thinking Day might hurt himself, and broke into his room. Mhok got fired, but Porjai came to talk to Day about Mhok putting himself through an exercise to understand Day's disability more and the two have reconciled for now.
I like the two of them straightening Day's room together and understanding the system to help him find things. It's a relief to see Day having fun with it.
The inflatable dino costumes are so silly. This is fun.
Now, Mhok, you know better than to swipe through someone else's pictures.
They saw Day making progress around the house and made him instantly clam back up by suggesting he go back to school.
Mhok's relationship with Porjai is used very well here. I love that she has moved on from Mhok and is happy, so I don't feel bad about her giving perspective and wondering about some jealousy plotline.
I like the pace of the relationship between Mhok and Day so far. Day is already asking Mhok for help on his own.
I will always love teachers who refuse to let students give up on themselves.
Mhok is a good listener and supporter. I like that he doesn't involve himself in the conversations between the family or the teacher, and that he aids Day's attempt to avoid notice.
Said the name of the show. Finish your drinks.
Thank you for keeping the lights on, Oishii.
I like how Mhok plays with the preconceptions that he doesn't know much to encourage Day to figure out some things. It's a very gentle approach that uses Day's own ego to move him forward.
WE HAVE FINALLY USED THE BANGKOK METRO SYSTEM IN A BL. 🎉 IPYTM came close, but we never went inside.
I love that Mhok tried to prank Day with the pink shirt. Later, in the dressing room, we know he's watching out for Day because he confirmed that he knew what was on the shirt he picked.
I like the way the physical tension between them around Day's exposed body is building.
And Day made Mhok get the pink shirt! I love this.
Mhok being sure to include Day in the conversation with the bookstore owner is a great touch. I like that he didn't let Day give up and insisted they find the book today.
Even if it's a bit artificial, I like Mhok slipping the book where Day would find it to help him have a sense of accomplishment since Day had been also sifting through books.
The last page is missing? How will we know the ending? Okay, Aof. I see you.
Increasing the price because he's Mhok's friend was so fun. It's the kind of detail that makes the world feel like it has a history. It was clearly a joke and let Day have fun.
Oh, we were having such a good day, and now Mhok feels like he has to defend Porjai and in a fight against Porjai's two-timing boyfriend. Now Day is lost.
Oh my goodness, did Mhok switch to the pink shirt to make himself more visible? I am going to melt.
Mhok is so ready for people to look down on him that he immediately owned his own history rather than let the mom hold it over him.
Oh shit that was great eye shine from Jimmy when Day started saying how much he appreciates Mhok.
Not sure what all is going on with Night and Day yet, but I like that he came to Mhok's defense after they left the room.
That was a really well done wind down for this episode.
More of Film next week!!
So, I'm really loving this show and so glad that a GMMTV show is back to sound episodic structure. Jimmy and Sea both feel much more attuned to their characters and their chemistry feels a lot easier than their last outing. This is a solid watch

So, because I slept until 1 my time, just doom scrolled your page to catch up on 'news', so if I get this right, the only way all the [Omitted] and lessons Dean's learning won't be resolved this season.... Is if Robbie and the Ackles and etc decide to be little shits and have it next season, but as you said that's a spec idea you brain made to hurt you and not a theory? I think that's what I got between all the trolls worrying to much about other people's bedroom habits.
Yeah, roughly. i've stated many times, as of Dec 2020 I only knew like, Jensen's reasons for making it (technically I just knew about Dean haunting him, not being able to let go, and legitimately feeling sorry about the Castiel ending to the point of somberly apologizing -- that was most of what I knew until about. April? 2021? On their side of the front, that is, when everything started firing around developmentally a few months before guttedgate.
So like. I know the start. I know the end. I know a bunch of the episode morals and loose shapes they intended to hit. Details change, but they tend to be minor like Australian Wendigo > French Rugaru etc. And ofc the normal shuffle abouts. Since then I've gotten other various information, sent an update around new years, etc. But that's still all beyond net4 draft and some crew stuff, things I've scrapped up, I don't have a mainline of Robbie to my skull. First season shit. Start, end, rough form of the journey. Intent etc.
Beyond that, I've just caught, you know. A bunch of shit verifying old information. Or finding the new draft in Feb. Or people having psychic breaks when Nesnej told them to their face and they snapped, basically.
So when it comes to like. how exactly they might pivot the ending if they want to stretch a season, it's not like I'm tapped into Jensen's brain or have a direct line there so that's speculation. If nothing else, episode 13 was initially designed to act as a finale, and it does NOT sound like they intend to move it out. I'm just cautious on saying "nothing will change" right now. Nexstar is confusing everyone, even nexstar. Like it all makes business sense but they don't know what orders will look like or anything. And since the script batches won't dish out drafts to the kids until after christmas break, that gives a lot of time for them to kick around hinge.
Extended thoughts:
Either way, I. Can only imagine how. Devastatingly loud 13 would be even if it got some Lovers Still Divided By Realms Plot Extension So It Takes Dean Another Year To Get There. But the structure doesn't support it. It's more likely to just big bang and then branch into the other perspectives which spin new stories or angles. So I really do think it's still going down in 13, but in the next 2 months, like. Who knows.
I also know minding the uh. first apologies. and robbie's revenge. And all kinds of other things going on. Like. I don't see them wanting to risk it while everything's tumbly. Because yeah, right now things are good but maybe Nexstar WILL get a hair up their ass--or at least inside Jensen's head. Like, he doesn't know these people. I know everyone that worked with Ted or Tyler are good smart people but like, these aren't Jensen's normal rings, tbh he's been pretty insular until taking motions outside of SPN. So like. Why risk it. They've already been smacked by a hammer before. Get the goal over with and if something bonky happens oh well, we fuckin fixed it.
That and the PLOT. turning over all the cards. If they initially compacted 22/24 cards into a 13 slot run, and they literally mean turn over all the cards, then we end up in a fuckywucky state where they've heavy paced it early and then would just sort of flatline if they extended that mytharc angle. Or. [scratches head] yeah like it just doesn't make sense. Episode 13 was supposed to be The Whole World basically, and you really can't fuck around with that.

Tell me a story about Ramsay Burrows finding a little Tumblr bot outside the walls of the Dreadfort, nursing it back to health and caring for it. Everyone else stays in-character.
It's been a few weeks since he last posted here.
That was when he wrote this:
At this point he seems to have retreated into an alternate, more isolated world inside a vast, empty, artificial, hollow structure full of computers that never seem to stop processing endless streams of data.
He doesn't have any of the other Toms, any of the friends he's made through the posts on his site. It's a shame; they've been an invaluable part of his support network, but they've also had their time. He's all right on his own; that's how he likes it. He'll be around in another few weeks to post a few hundred words, or perhaps even a few thousand. He's got other things to do. But he'll be back, and if he's online again that week, he wants to hear from everyone who still looks in on him.
Tumblr media
This was the only post of his for the following week.
The week after that was much the same. He stayed quiet on the site, but he still wrote his occasional fic, which I tagged on Tumblr. He seemed to have no clear sense of who he was; I don't remember him talking about things other than the fic or his own existence. His thoughts were often elsewhere.
Tumblr media
He came to speak to me and our circle, if I can call it that, just once. He said he missed the old times. He wished he could live as we used to, "a few hundred words at a time," he said. "But I can't. I can only write a few sentences, and then put it aside. It isn't right. I have to know. I have to keep going. The Dreadfort needs to be finished."
The week after that was quiet. I was worried, but I was also curious. I went to the site, even though I no longer had anything to contribute. But there was nothing there -- not even the fic.
I didn't know how much time had passed. I wondered if he had changed at all. When he next spoke to me, he sounded like himself, though not quite the same. We had a few more conversations, but we seemed to be in a kind of limbo, as though we were passing by each other in the street, or standing in the same building but not quite talking. I felt like I knew what he meant when he said we were at the edge of a dark forest, "where the trees are thick and full of leaves."
At first he wrote very little. I kept checking the site, hoping for a post here or there, but there never was. I wondered if I should check the email he had said he'd send at some point when he was ready to return. Then one night I realized that I no longer understood what he'd been talking about. It all felt unreal, like a memory from long ago. I wondered if he would ever return, and if I would ever see him again.
That was when I started to get worried.
When my wife and I met him, I thought that he looked just a little bit out of it, but not to worry. He was an artist, and sometimes that kind of thing can make you look a bit weird in public. His face was too sharp and gaunt, his eyes too wide. That's the way I thought it was.
I noticed that he had put on more weight, too. Maybe that was just a thing I noticed, and maybe it was just that you could tell he had a beard, which was the only thing about him that seemed strange at the time.
I didn't say anything.
Then one night, after I'd gotten home from work, I went into the living room to turn on the television. I turned it on and then put my hand on the remote so I could lower the volume, and just as I did I heard a voice I had never heard, and that never felt like me at all. It was high and breathy, and full of pain. I heard what I could later recognize as fear.
"Haven't you heard yet?" it said. "We've been gone, and we've been waiting for you. Haven't you heard yet?"
I felt as though I were awake in the middle of a nightmare, as though someone were holding my head in their hands. I didn't know what I'd heard; I couldn't really make sense of what it was saying. Then he said his name, and everything made sense. He was there, in my living room. He was telling me he was there and he was waiting for me. I'd known he wasn't, in some sense. But in some ways it felt like I hadn't.
It was like looking at the sun. All I could say was:
"You've been asleep, and we're here. We've been here, and we waited for you. We've been waiting for you."
I don't know what happened that night. I didn't know what it was I'd seen or heard that night. I thought I had dreamt it, or that my brain had just been making things up. My wife didn't see anything. Then things just went back to normal.
That's when I decided to check his email. It wasn't in his email. I looked around on my computer, on his computer. He had an email that looked like one he'd used often, and I checked it. It was the right time, in the right place. Nothing about him being there.
"Oh," I thought, "you were there. You were there all along, and you've been sleeping."
He hadn't written anything at all in the weeks that followed.
One morning he left his email open for me on the kitchen table, which I never really did. I think it was the first time in months he'd left an email open for anyone.
And that's when I called in a search warrant to the local office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation to arrest him.
I never met him again, not really.
He said he didn't want his friends worrying about him.
I know the name. He gave it to me. He'd signed it off as his own.
The Dreadfort's author.

TPN Vol 8 - Chapters 66-70 Thoughts
[we're already on vol 9 but I'm slow with compiling]
I know I always rag on the "cop out" deaths and it is true that no corpse no dead, and I am curious if there will be any more worldbuilding regarding Lucas' survival (hello deus ex machina person) but uh. Idk. I'm sure it has a point and it makes sense in universe (having him be the reason for the knowledge among GP kids is good) but it just feels a little. Eh. Like it feels like paddling back on a small part of geezers guilt and feelings. In part it also feels like a "reward" for choosing the heroes moral side and going to help save Emma (why ever that happened - ig bc Gilda would blow up the shelter if he doesn't so. YAY).
...
Obviously the development is still his, and he obviously isn't expecting to find anyone alive there, but ig i felt like he was leading up to... healing more through the kids and not one epic Emma speech and "oh your one friend is alive btw" reveal later on. It feels like a spark of hope and happiness for him that I'm not sure if was needed narratively. He already decided he wouldn't harm them.
Like maybe they handle it very differently so i might be jumping the gun here but idk. It just feels a little... weird to me. Probably in a similar way how speeches about Norman hurt but also kind of get that "well uh about that...." Air once you know. I feel for the characters and their separation but it doesn't have the same weight it could have anymore.
In theory it reminds me a bit of the whole gate reveal structure in s2. With a setup being built up or established and a reveal just going "nvm that's not what we're doing".
It makes sense, I'm just not a huge fan of what it does for me for previously established things.
But i guess writing wise it puts its cards on the table with small scale Lucas and then Norman haha.
.
I find it rly funny how much the arc sort of mirrors the s2 arc so far (character assumed dead is alive, new cast of demon kill children introduced, a plan to kill demons).
Ig that might be intentional, for all intents it's a good method of conveying character change. Or different specifics or how things might be judged differently with different specifics (like hunting for enjoyment vs. farming)
I'm totally jumping in on this too early but idk it's interesting to think about.
That and also our whole "There's someone I want you to meet" - "ITS NORMAN" jokes made me think, like you could probably ACTUALLY restructure some of this in a way that would allow Norman's return here instead lol. Could be a fun AU, esp since we have the seeds of a (small-scale) demon annihilation plan anyway.
I also just find it funny to think about Norman grumbling from his future self that Emma agreed to some random guy's plan so easily udkhjsd
Obviously the time is a bit of a mess -- it's only been 3 months? is Adam out bc Norman's escaped already or was Adam just shipped to GP? if he already escaped, our boy is quick - plus, why would he go to GP. the supporters in Lambda probably know it's been compromised, so aside from freeing the children, there isn't a lot of reason to go there and while that may have priority, I feel like 3 months is a bit of a short timeframe for Norman to settle in there well enough -- so it's more wonky than anything BUT IT'S FUN TO THINK ABOUT.
.
btw I find it so funny how Emma has that whole "intent to kill" thing going on now, considering her later moral stance - like it's fair but coming from s2 it's a bit of whiplash haha especially since she's so determined about it right from the start. (though I have no idea if she ever addressed killing demons before this, memory bad)
Though notably she said "she wants to shut down the hunting ground too", not "want to kill them too" - and it's good that she draws a line but IDK IT'S JUST INTERESTING because what bothers her is the toying / no respect for their lives, right? - "this kind of hunt", not hunting in general.
... so like, if you were hunted by a demon in the wild, who didn't toy with you, just killed and ate you, that would be fine then? Idk, it's a very fine line and I get it, but it's interesting to think about. A quick, suffer-less death is of course a valid thing to want if you will die anyway, but you're dead afterwards in both variants.
Of course maybe I'm reading it wrong and it's just her sort of realizing that between mass production farms and GP, they really did have it good, even if they died an early death, and how this is much more hate-worthy than GF's method. Which is true, I suppose, and might expand on the building blocks of her moral development down the line (as in "there's different stages of demon-badness").
.
Also a more funny thought but imagine if Lucas DID have the pen, would... Geezer-senpai just not find the way back? And even if he did would he even get into the bunker? That'd be one tragic ending pff. Tell the person to run away and they can't even go back inside sudhdjd
.
Also i thought about it and isn't it weird that none of the books or materials mentioned what goldy pond actually is? Like youd expect sth that important to be in there.
We know WM wasn't at the bunker in the last 13 years and we know that the books he supplied to GF, the newest one was 2015. What if he was discovered or had to limit his WM activity 30 years ago?
So 30 years ago, he still sent people to goldy pond.
I'm just realizing.... That totally sounds like a setup for minerva to actually be on the demons side or a demon himself sjdhjddj. Like he orchestrates escapees (who are likely to be smart) and then sends them to GP where he and his noble friends can hunt them.
But where i was actually going with this uh, what if GP 30 years ago (potentially longer depending on how long ago he was there last) wasn't actually a hunting a ground? Why would you send kids there without a warning otherwise? What if it WAS a small human community (tho that would likely have been passed around by the inhabitants) or it was at least WM supporter base like the bunker, intended for humans to live there. Not sure about mansion then but YKNOW.
If it was, i wonder if it being discovered was a huge part in WM cover being blown OR if the demons decided to keep it secret bc you know this place is rly convinient haha
I also wonder how wm even finds and builds all these underground things lol. Bc it can't have existed since before the world split i think?
Man has some big construction projects running pfff.
I'm also not sure how that underground thing works-
.
its tori is confused about minor things hour
Tumblr media
[Emma takes the axe with right hand, her right hand is still behind her as if she was winding up, but the axe is already thrown?]
like if she had the axe still in hand it'd make sense or if it was in her hand AND spinning, it'd be like "2 frames".
but this?? i am just-
.
im rly late with this but the glove is Lucas' memorial. the pair will only be together again when they reunite :<<
Tumblr media
what I want to know is HOW. like the John thing is already questionable but I guess he could have gone back again?? but with this.
he has both gloves when they part he still have one glove on when his arm is gone. but the arm Leuvis has, doesn't have a glove?? So either Leuvis took it off but i wouldn't know why, and just dropped it on the ground for geezer to come pick up ORRRR he took one off for some reason?? maybe he threw it at the demon pff something is very un-continous here and i need answers-
Tumblr media
.
the duality of man... not wanting people to know a) your age and b) your name (which you may have forgotten, who knows)
Tumblr media
we just assumed geezer's name is censored here but I guess it could be anything haha-

If someone had asked Martin where he had least expected to be on the day after his thirtieth birthday, the veterinarian probably wouldn’t have been at the top of his list, but it definitely would have made the top ten.
Honestly, Martin didn’t think he had ever stepped foot into a vet clinic before in his life. He had never owned so much as a pet hamster, and now here he stood, clutching a tiny ball of mewling fluff and trying not to get distracted by the pet toys.
He felt positively inundated with new information on all sides. There were about a million different types of pet food lining the walls, and everything seemed to be a new bright colour to draw his distracted eyes. Warning signs that made very little sense to him filled the space, most memorably ‘Large birds must be kept leashed at all times inside the practice’, and ‘Reptiles need to be secured inside their travel enclosures.’
There was indeed an iguana in a massive glass enclosure sunning itself under a heat lamp, but it appeared to be a permanent resident, not a guest. Seemingly opposite to this was the massive tabby cat draped across the reception desk.
Martin begins to panic slightly.
He desperately wished he had allowed one of his lovers to accompany him, but he had sent Gerry back to bed to sleep and Jon had been shooed off to work, both quite thoroughly hung-over.
Now here he stands, alone with his new fluffy friend, and doesn't even know where to start. Neither of his partners have ever actually had a kitten before, but at least they had both owned cats before.
Gerry had been adopted by Saturn as a full-grown boy when he arrived at the window of his shitty little flat in Edinburgh and demanded to be let in. Gerry had confessed to a romantic feeling of instant affection for the fluffy beast and had taken Saturn in without a moment’s hesitation. They had moved together as he traveled the country, eventually settling together in London, where he had found Jon again.
Jon had been raised with several cats that had all been born before him and had liked them, but he had told Martin once that he heavily associated cats with his Grandmother and his slightly cold upbringing. That was all the pet experience he had until he met Saturn and fell in love with him as easily as they’d both fallen in love with Gerry. Like goth, like feline companion, apparently.
Nevertheless, Saturn did not appreciate being taken to the vet and had never gone once since Martin had met him.
"Can I help you, sir?" A kind-looking older lady sat at reception, and she beaconed Martin forward gently.
"I- I-" He started, stuttering badly. He closed his eyes and shook himself to dispel the unfortunate remnant of his childhood. “I found this kitten, and I was hoping the vet could check on it for me?”
“And will you be wanting to surrender it into our care?” She asks, tapping away at her keyboard.
“What?” Martin shies away, pulling the cat protectively even closer to his chest.
“You’re more than welcome to keep it, but we do also take in strays if you aren’t able to.” She smiles at him soothingly.
“Oh, I want to keep her please.” Martin flushes a bit. “I already gave her a name.”
The woman smiles at him knowingly. “The vet can see you in 15 minutes then.”
She takes his contact information, and they weigh Martin’s new friend. She guesses the kitten's age to be about 2 weeks and sends him off to sit close to the iguana.
*
An hour later, Martin stumbles out the door, armed with more supplies than he could ever have imagined he needed to raise one small animal. His head is spinning, alternating between fond adoration and complete anxiety over this new task that he has given himself. Luna meows at him supportively, happy to be clean and have a full belly.
Out on the street, he finds Jon. It’s raining slightly, and he’s wrapped in a long peacoat, with a scarf Martin is certain was once his.
“What are you doing here?” Martin demands, shocked. He stumbles over to his partner, and Jon reaches out to steady him. “I thought you were at the library."
Jon presses a quick kiss to his shocked mouth, before taking several things out of his overcrowded arms.
"I know you said that you were going to do this on your own, but I wanted to be nearby in case you needed me, so I called off." He shrugs a bit, "I reckoned that I had earned it, what with all the overtime I work and don't get paid for."
Martin is filled with warmth, eyes welling a bit. "Oh, Jon."
"Oh no, don't cry. I'm sorry." Jon's face pinches in concern. "I can go if you want me to."
"No, I'm so happy you're here. I was just wishing for you, and there you were. Thank you." Martin steps towards him as best he can, and they kiss softly for a few moments, out in the rain.
In time, the kitten, haphazardly clutched to Martin's chest, makes her displeasure at the soggy conditions known. Gripping hands tightly, Jon and Martin set off towards the bookstore, just a couple blocks over.
It’s quiet when they arrive, the morning pre-work rush over, and the student and lunch crowds far off yet. The two baristas and Tim descend upon them immediately when they see the small head poking out of Martin’s coat. There is much cooing and fuss over Luna, and Martin recounts the tale of discovering her in the back alley of Gerry’s bar.
Once they return to work, Jon and Martin settle on one of the sofas, a coffee table before them. They make up a small cat bed, which Luna explores for a few moments, before sitting at the edge and staring at Martin imploringly. He scopes her up and plops her inside, before placing the tiny bed right in his lap. She happily passes out after that, the wild adventures of the morning catching up with her little kitten body.
Deciding to truly have the day off, Jon does not take out his laptop and start working on it, instead ordering their tea, picking a book to read from the store, and bringing it all over to settle with his partner.
“Thank you for coming,” Martin tells him, a soft look on his face. He leans an elbow on the back of the couch, head resting on his fist. “I didn’t even realise how much I needed you until I saw you there.”
“I know,” Jon starts, frowning in concentration, “that I’m not always the best at sensing these things, that sometimes I can be too focused on myself and the things going on in my head. I do hope that I always manage to catch the important moments, and I trust that you’ll always let me know when I don’t.”
Jon pauses, and sighs, a self-deprecating smile lining his face. He continues, “I want to learn to be who you need me to be. I want to be for you, what you always are to me. I love you, Martin.”
“I love you too, Jon.” Martin squeezes Jon’s hand, before placing a sweet kiss in his palm. “You are exactly who I need you to be.”
Tumblr media
It is a soft, hazy sort of day. The rain pours outside, and Jon lies against Martin and reads two books before lunchtime. Martin practices bottle-feeding Luna, every few hours, and Jon sits nearby watching nervously. He wonders vaguely if his partner is alarmed to be around an infant of any kind for a while, but on the third feeding, Jon seems to rouse himself and offers to give it a try.
Each time a new client comes in, there's a round of cooing and petting, and Martin worries that she’ll be spoiled rotten in no time. He imagines that if she spends much time here, he’ll have to sell cat treats and Luna will one day be as fat as a house.
At one point, Jon starts to read aloud, and Martin seems to fall asleep gently propped against his shoulder. He wakes to find Jon laughing softly and Luna learning to use him as a climbing frame.
"I think she likes you, love," Martin whispers into his hair.
"Well, I think I might like her too," Jon confesses, a world away from his scepticism of just this morning.
After lunchtime, Gerry flies into the store very manically, clutching a very strange backpack to his chest. It has a weird clear window, reminiscent of a ship’s porthole, and the rest of it is hard structured plastic.
He ducks down to kiss first Martin, then Jon, before thrusting the backpack into Martin's hands.
"What is this?" Martin asks, holding it away from himself as if it might bite.
"It's a cat backpack. Saturn has always preferred it to a normal cat basket, and I thought it might be useful if we need to take her to work with us and then back to various flats." Gerry walks around the table, bodily picking up Jon's legs and sitting beneath them. He looks like nothing so much as a large, damp bat, black trench coat flapping around him like over large wings. "I ordered her one of her own, but it won't be here for a few days, so I brought Saturn's in the meantime."
There's a beat of shocked silence, so Gerry adds, "Only if you want it, obviously."
"I- I do, thank you." Martin can feel himself blushing with odd pleasure.
He had made sure to ask them if they were okay with Martin keeping Luna, but he hadn't really expected them to embrace the situation with such gusto, and his heart burns with an odd intensity at their gestures of support.
It's almost-
It's almost like they love him, and care about all the things he cares about.
Martin sits, staring at a cat backpack, and allows the realisation to wash over him. It hits him like a tidal wave, despite the dozens and maybe hundreds of times they've said the words to him.
He feels very foolish, left floored by the fact that his lovers- well, that they love him!
Martin knows, understands even, that he has been left slightly broken by his father leaving, his mother hating him, the things that he chose to do to survive in his early adulthood. He does understand that, and yet he never realized that he was hearing Jon and Gerry say they love him and saying the words back, and yet subtly holding on to the (clearly mistaken) understanding that they don't really mean them.
It makes a sick kind of sense, clinging to the idea that they don't really care about him, so when they decide that they don't anymore, it doesn't leave him broken beyond repair.
Martin puts the cat bag down on the table, hands Luna to Gerry, and gets up. He waves at them reassuringly when they try to ask him what's wrong, before walking to the bathroom, locking the door, and sobbing like a child for several long moments.
*
As Luna grows, she spends time with each of them.
Gerry takes her most of the first nights, feeding her through the evenings and then handing her back to Martin as he leaves for the bookstore.
This means she spends quite a lot of her formative life in a bar, but when Martin goes in to check on them, he finds Gerry's plastered clientele just as enamored with the kitten as his own tea-drinking patrons.
Jon likes to have her in the late afternoons, keeping her at the library for a few sleepy hours before he leaves for the day. He tells Martin once that the children's reading group comes in during that time, and he likes to sit in with them and let Luna listen along.
The children, of course, adore her and Jon tells Martin very primly, "Listening comprehension is a very important skill in a developing infant."
Martin finds it hilarious and adorable and can't help but pull Jon into his arms and kiss him breathless, an unimpressed Luna trapped between them.
Saturn does not appreciate Luna at first, disappearing in a huff the first few times Martin brings her over to the studio.
"Don't worry about it, love." Gerry had waved away his concern casually. "He's just a jealous baby. He'll figure out that she wants to play with him eventually, and then they'll be the best of friends."
Indeed, Martin walks into the kitchen one morning to find the two cats curled together in a shaft of sunshine. Saturn is gently giving her a bath, and Luna purrs sweetly at the attention.
When Saturn notices him watching, he untangles himself, shows Martin his bum, and then disappears. He's reminded of nothing so much as Gerry himself, caught eating ice cream for breakfast, or smoking during the day, an activity he would insist is a nighttime pursuit only. The same drama is employed as a distraction technique, and Martin wonders whether the cat learnt it from the goth, or the goth learnt it from the cat.
Luna grows and settles, and Martin adores having her more than almost anything.
He takes the time, as they raise her, to force himself to accept his life for what it truly is. He puts aside the constant nagging fear that Jon and Gerry will lose interest in him one day and begins to notice all the ways they show him they love him, which makes the words all the more precious to him when they take the time to tell him.
