Unfortunately this makes me sound terribly cold-hearted, but someone at my Club gushes over another lady who makes hats for preemies and there’s always the underlying suggestion that I, too, should make hats for preemies. There is one problem. I have no desire to do that. Whatsoever. That’s about the most boring thing I can think to make short of dishclothes.

Could I do it at an activity? Certainly. Get together once a month or every few months, crochet up as many hats as we can, chat? sure thing. On my own time, make preemie hats? Sorry, the desire button does not exist.

#and it's horrible because making tiny homemade hats for premature babies can be so meaningful for parents going through a terrible time #and this lady knows this! she's so happy about the preemie hat lady because her own children were born premature!#and i know this! but the fact that it is Good does not actually translate into desire...#and i do feel a little awful for saying it but i do not want to do it #for the longest time i only made stuff for other people because i needed the deadline of a gift-giving date to kick me into action #turns out i craft things for interest #but then i discovered knitting #and i love knitting. i love doing it and i love having knitted things. the same was not true for crochet #you know. the group idea is probably a good one. i can see myself doing that periodically. may look into that...
