ah...so, been dragging my feet on this one because I'm not thrilled with my first attempt with drawing an owlbear, but i don't think it's getting any better so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On to ✨recap✨

The next morning, everyone regroups downstairs for breakfast while trying to iron out exactly what the fuck happened the previous night. In the middle of their brunch, the man who hired them for this bodyguard gig shows up with their payment, and is able to shed some light on the meeting Amoré witnessed before the attack began.

Madam Blue, does in fact represent the interest of one Blue Duke. The man is a mystery, and no one seems to know much about him other than the fact that he is involved in trade.

Madam Blue herself is rich enough that she was able to hire a group of mercenaries from The Weeping Widow to look for some sort of stick (?). She appears elvish and speaks the language, however does not have pointed ears, though she seems to be very sensitive about that fact.

Amoré immediately deflects the lingering fear of last night (and this new information (if this woman is supposedly this wealthy, why doesn't she know her?)) by complaining about how unimpressed she is with the fact that they almost burned to death for so little information. To her delight, the man leaves exasperated with her and does not, in fact, remember to get his communication bracelets back from them.

(*he will regret this later)

Once he is gone, Sylphi decides that they should take Ko Kiri back with them to Agatha's.

Amoré is immediately against bringing yet another person to her Aunt's supposed secret magic forest but is once again outvoted by the other two. In spite of her arguments (she does not want to be held responsible for this child they are lowkey kinda kidnapping?) they set out for Agatha's cottage. Sylphi insists that when they arrive, they'll find out how to get Ko Kiri home.

As they ride up to Agatha's later that afternoon, she greets them by asking if they're always going to be bringing back new people to her place. After settling back into their own clothes, they sit down at Agatha's kitchen table to pick her brain about the Blue Duke.

They find out there are two main rumors about him

he's either really hot young but never shows his face after suffering a serious injury in some battle

or he's old, ugly and decrepit 😮‍💨

Either way, he's been buying up a lot of land around the continent.

Agatha then turns the conversation back to last night's job and what they plan to do with their new guest. Sylphi proceeds to wax poetic about her night with Kaa in excruciating detail before Diana interjects when it comes to the fight. She mentions Amoré's fainitng spell to Agatha, who seems surprised, but does not linger on the information.

Amoré gets prickly at Diana bringing it up again, but before she can start lashing out, their conversation is interrupted by the arrival of an elf on an owlbear. Quincy is an artificer friend of Agatha’s, who has come to exchange dysfunctional inventions for the opportunity to read books from Agatha’s vast collection.
