simultaneously delighted that platonic love and relationships are being recognised in media and anxious that there are fewer obvious cues to read to indicate romance or the lack of such
#two characters who I thought had nothing romantic between them just said they broke each other's hearts#and my brain's throwing out error codes that are mostly just question marks#IT'S A STRUGGLE#romance is such a nebulously defined socially constructed thing as far as I can tell#and with those cues being challenged it feels a bit like putting up a tent without tent pegs#am I talking from the autism or the aromanticism here? always both? WHO KNOWS.#falderal speaks#I'm thrilled about this I am. and I'm extra thrilled if this is a ''messy relationships that don't neatly fit categories'' situation.#sure do hope no-one's expecting me to be able to reliably recognise romance going forward though
