Pairing: Pavitr Prabakhar x G/N!Indonesian!Reader
A/N: My Indonesian ass is crying bc I barely see Indo!Reader fics so I’ll just write it myself and the last time I read one with an Indo!Reader is one with Namor 😭 ALSO I FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT FOR BEING AN INDO WHO BARELY WATCHES INDO ROMANTIC MOVIES HDUSIHBFRJGHTFG
Ik I said that I don't take requests atm but anon, thanks a lot for the inspo so I'll just dump out my HCs here and I'm writing this from my own experience as an Indonesian living in Indonesia so hai buat kalian para pembaca fanfic yg sesama Indo!!! (hi to my fellow Indo fanfic readers!!!)

I just know for sure that Pav, no matter what would try to get to know your culture when you guys first met.
Let's just say that you moved to Mumbattan from your hometown, and for your information, Indonesia's diverse in a lot of aspects, like religion, ethnic groups and culture, traditions, and all that!
Generally we speak in Bahasa Indonesia here as it's considered to be the main language, but in many areas of my country, there tend to be dialects exclusive to that zone like the Javanese dialect or Sundanese dialect. So if Pav wants to learn your language, I'd say he'd lean into the main language spoken by Indo people here BEHEHHEHEHEH
Usually we Indonesians are pretty close to our families and lemme tell you, I feel like your parents would absolutely love Pav once they get to know him more and think he's such a great partner for you.
Yes he might not be the best at speaking it but HE'S TRYING OK πŸ₯Ί?? AND HE'S ONLY LEARNING ABT IT
Oh my fucking god. Pav would rock a batik shirt or sarong (worn over a basic tee bc he tried to try it himself during one of his visits to your place) so well.
"Oh my godness, Pav, I- You look good in it!"
"Do you think so? I hope you're not mad at me for snooping in your wardrobe-"
"Are you kidding? Honestly, I think batik suits you so much and I'd love it if you wear them more often."
Bam, you've just combusted because your boyfriend managed to look so damn good in the traditional cloth and he fell in love with you more for liking how good he looked in it!
Don't even start on how many traditional food your country have. And I personally imagine Pav to be a bit of a foodie kind of guy so he'd absolutely love to try your traditional food.
Now here's the fun part. Chai time AND trying your traditional food that your mom had cooked or bought! Ofc you'd also enjoy chai time hehe
Stray cats living in places in my country are pretty common so you and Pav would def bond over petting stray animals in the street! (Tho if you're a Muslim like me, just wanna say that you can still touch dogs but we Muslims usually try to avoid contact with their saliva because dog saliva is considered impure so we must purify ourselves by washing the area seven times, one of which must be done with soil)
Ok maybe to stay safe, let's just say you've always found yourselves being attached to stray cats more than stray dogs even tho you find Pavitr's interactions with stray dogs to be SOO adorable. 🀣
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD YOU AND PAV SITTING SOMEWHERE AND THEN A BUNCH OF STRAY CATS APPROACH YOU BOTH
OR IF A PARTICULAR STRAY CAT KEPT COMING INTO YOUR HOUSE FOR FOOD RIGHT WHEN PAVITR'S VISITING
IT'S THE CUTEST SIGHT EVER BUT PAV THINKS YOU'RE WAY CUTER THAN ALL THOSE CATS
"Meri jaan, if anything, you're way cuter than all of these cats." he booped your nose.
Dude's just gonna be amazed at how diverse your country is, ngl. And the fact he's dating such a wonderful person ;)

Extra A/N: Dear anon and my fellow Indonesians, I hope I did this justice πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ/gen

Hi hi my love!! ^^ So you asked for asks right? :3 I realize a lot of the times when I send you these I tend to ask you to rank stuff lol so I guess I'll lean into it? How about top 5 (or 10 if you have enough) anime series or top 5 (or 10) animated movies? :3 It's pretty general but I figure it should give you a lot of room to go over some of your favorites ^^ Sending love and good wishes!!! ❀️
ehehe thank you my love πŸ₯ΊπŸ‘‰πŸ‘ˆπŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
i wanted to do both but then i did the top 5 anime and i got very carried away with my explanations so i kept it as just that. anyway:
1. haikyuu!! probably my favorite show ever tbh. i think hq has a perfect story, like it uses its genre to do everything right, and its impact on the outside world is amazing as well. as for the series itself, it's just beautiful (ignoring that one episode in season 4) and has a very unique style, stellar voice acting, awesome soundtrack, delicious symbolism, and it really gets you hyped for volleyball :P it's very easy to get attached even to the most minor character bc the story is written in a way that lets almost everyone in this HUGE cast (well over a 100 or even 150 named characters, i'm pretty sure) shine, and you're guaranteed to find someone you like. the only downside is you'll probably end up rooting for every team so eventually a team you like will lose a game (likely to another team you like) and that hurts every time fr. and still!!!!! it manages to be so feel-good and optimistic and really gets you pumped and inspired!!!! i think anyone who is even just open to try sports anime should check it out, it's def one of the most accessible I've seen in that genre (in a sense that it doesn't expect you to already be familiar with the sport to understand the story)
2. honestly?? osomatsu-san. probably bc it's very dear to me like emotionally, season 2 was still releasing when i was stuck in the hospital for a few months, and it was like a light i held onto every week (i was also following a few mangas back then but those were harder to follow. due to oso-san's skit nature it was always a good time) and i mean, ichi was my first f/o before i even knew that term existed hehe. it's one of these shows i wouldn't actually recommend to anyone unless i know they're ok with gross or edgy humor but i do think it's really good, i love how meta it is, and i think it uses its premise to deliver maximum entertainment!
(oh my god that was so much gushing abt a silly skit show i am so sorry <- guy who wrote most of the hq gushing after typing this part up. he was not aware)
3. ok so this one's really niche, idk if any of you have even heard of it heh. it's called bungou stray dogs-
ajdkflhlh while i have my gripes with how they adapt the manga, i do still think it's a very good anime as is. it was good enough to get me hooked on the story and characters and want to learn more and follow the story further, yknow? it's beautiful and i love its use of colors for symbolism, it has really great voice acting, and the energy is kept up throughout it enough to remain engaging. it's honestly a show I'd recommend everyone to at least try πŸ€”!
4. persona 4!!!! from one mediocre adaptation to a GREAT adaptation. i think p4's anime is really really well made - it manages to translate a game this long into a coherent and interesting story, gives its characters time to shine, and maintains a perfect balance between fun and emotions. also it has probably the best dub I've ever heard. naoto's anime voice dni. also i think episode 26 is a true masterpiece i think everyone should watch it
5. ngl. it's a three way tie for me. between shows i only watched once and don't have a lot of attachment to beyond that, but i think they're really good for very different reasons. gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun / great pretender / blue period. i won't go into details on why i love them all bc this post is already long enough. but if you're reading this you should check them out 🫑
also if this post convinces you to check out any show mentioned here you legally have to tell me ok? esp if you end up liking it 🧐πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

March 9, 2024
So I spent the first half of my first day on spring break not lounging around, not binging pjo s1, not grocery shopping, but writing twelve pages of detailed pseudocode by hand (because my laptop was too far for me to reach and, hey, it is break after all) to bring my longtime dream of a text-based interactive hunger games cyoa to life.
Yeah.. I think me and Sanderson might be two of a kind fr.
I don't know if I'm going to use this for my class's final project (it's not gory by any means, but maybe the subject matter isn't quite appropriate for class? and also I should probably do something more related to my PhD but pshhhhhhh), but it's pretty cool ngl (if it works as intended). I've never really been into fanfic, but I could definitely see myself making interactive games in fandom worlds. And then maybe moving into making games in my own worlds.
I hope my python prof knows that I would die for his dog. I love that little pup so much what an educational icon.
Anyway, Spring Break Goals!!!
Go thrifting! I've saved up $50 to go wild, which is great because I'm tossing out two sweaters and a pair of trousers, and they kinda leave holes in my wardrobe that I'd like to fill (also I'd love to find more button ups with decorative collars)
Pick up the red shoes I bought online a bit ago
And see Dune 2 while I'm downtown
Stock up grocery trip to the discount grocery store that's always crowded, but this time I'll go at 10 am on a weekday [edit 2, post-trip: it was still dreadfully crowded]
Do all of my laundry (I've never been this behind in my life)
Make more of those breakfast sandwiches to stick in the freezer
Binge PJO :D
Start a crochet project. No more fear of it being mediocre. I cannot improve if I do not try!
Finish The art of gathering
Bake cookies
Get back into the swing of meal prepping (fell off this past week)
Not sure how many I'll complete, but I reckon at least a few.
Upon reflection, one thing I learned from my family jaunt to NYC is that home is not my county. Home is not my house, it is not my state. Not my room, not my high school, not my city. Home is where my family is. Home is where my sister and I can tease each other. Home is where my mom and I can disagree about fashion. Home is where I can laugh at my dads jokes. Even in a hotel room while recovering from my first migraine, even while crying for the third time about a beautifully tragic story, even at a crowded pizza place, even while my father forces us into a selfie in front of a gorgeous library, I felt at home. I felt safe. Relaxed, happy.Β
Today I'm thankful that, as cheesy as it sounds, home truly is where the heart is.
[edit: I watched Thor: Love and Thunder today and it's probably one of the most aggressively mediocre Marvel movies I've seen? The plot was okay, the writing was not great, some of the cameos were fun, some of the vfx were strange. Can't believe they're getting that man to return to this now very unserious franchise again. But I know he's doing other projects too, so. Loved Jane's ending though.]
