kinda messed up when you consider both planes based off African nations (Mirrodin and Amonkhet) were both almost completely destroyed and their populations decimated

#and yes i'm pretty sure mirrodin is based off sub-saharan africa #for one thing all #the leonin #lions #well known for that region #the word 'shikari' pops up #which is Urdu for 'big game hunter'#the auriok and vulshok are dark-skinned #the razor fields seem to be based on the african plains #and some of the armour/clothes seems to be inspired by sub-saharan africa
