12 head-turning-long, reverse bob haircuts
A long inverted bob is a neck-to-clavicle hair that is cut at an angle instead of being blunt. This universally flattering hairstyle lets you have length and movement plus edge at the same time!
The super versatile cut fits all textures, all seasons and surprisingly all face shapes. Depending on your desired result, you can adjust both the angle and the length for a haircut that fits you perfectly.
It can be styled in so many incredible ways and infused with different textures. That is why the reverse praise is venerated by many, including fashion A-listers Gabrielle Union, Keira Knightley, Sevyn Streeter and Emily Ratajkowski!
Undoubtedly the top choice for practical yet fashionable women, bob cuts like this are always the best go-to cut if you want to look the best but still enjoy a low maintenance look.
Feast your eyes on these really popular long inverted bob haircuts created by seasoned stylists!
Extra long and multi-layered
How would you describe this look?
This look features a textured, reverse lob cut with copper balayage pieces added everywhere. I finished the look by taking small vertical sections with a 1 inch curling iron to make sure a little more than an inch of the end of the strand is let out. Then I combed my finger through everything to loosen the curl, to give a lived but compound wave praise. I love how it looks classic and natural, but the copper highlights still pop with color and add dimension. This look can be elegant or casual!
Any advice for someone considering it?
This long, layered, inverted bob is ideal for anyone looking to add volume to their hair. The structured cut itself adds fullness. It is versatile and looks great straight or wavy! Some products that would be ideal for this look are dry texture sprays, volume sprays and light / medium hair sprays.
Side divider, reverse rag with fringe
Pack different styles in the shape of the cut. A long inverted bob hairstyle with fringes like this is the perfect way to frame your face and draw more attention to your eyes. With smoother hair also helps to bring more attention to your highlights.
How would you describe this look?
This is a long inverted bob with side bangs that I have styled smooth and straight. I gave her a low maintenance color by doing a balayage. This way she doesn't have to do her color as often as usual and have a nice grow between color dates.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Long reversed bobs are great if you want a change of long hair, but you don't want to go short. Having this length in front is good security for them!
I styled this by starting with a great blowout as a great blowout gives you more longevity with the hairstyle. I emboss the hair with R & Co’s Grid, a structural setting spray with the highest level of heat protection in the line, and set the hair for a long-lasting blowout. Next, I use R & Co Rodeo Foam, a great thickening foam that gives the hair a good hold when blown out.
Starting at the neck of the head, I dried the hair in sections with Olivia Garden ceramic and ion heat drops, moving the hair in all directions to give maximum volume along with smoothness. I put my sections up to the crown and then forward. I then finished sweeping the bangs aside. After that, I put a little R & Co tinsel, a smoothing oil, on the ends and gently push a flat iron through the hair to give it a more elegant look. I then ended up using R & Co Outer Space flexible hairspray.
For the pony, I rest the pony with my hand underneath and spray to hold the pony together without parting. This look is honestly great for everyone. Lobs are flattering for every face shape and hair type. I personally love her for fine hair because, like this client, the blunt cut makes her hair look fuller / thicker.
The great thing about a long inverted bob is that it's really not difficult to style and can be done quickly, so it's great for someone who's always on the go. It can also be curled or curled to give it a more ruffled look, and finished with Unite Texturiza spray.
Undercut Long Inverted Bob for thick hair
How would you describe this look?
This is a long inverted bob haircut for thick hair. My client came with probably most of the hair I've ever seen in my life, so all of the hair underneath was shaved. It also had a black box dye. She knew she was ready for a change, and she always wanted a haircut reversed.
I knew I would remove the abandoned black hair dye, so I suggested a vivid color that would work if a lot of heat was left in the hair. I chose purple.
One of my favorite things about this look is the way the color works with the shape of the haircut. Since she had about 2 1/2 inches of untreated hair growth, the hair was nicely pre-illuminated.
Of course, as we lower the hair shaft, there was still a lot of warmth in the hair. This created an inverted ombre effect that I really liked – light purple melted at the root to a deeper darker purple. The transition of color works really well with the shape of the haircut and leaves the tips darkest at the front.
Any advice for someone considering it?
I think anyone who sees this as an inverted long bob could have a version of it. It's an interpreter of a classic bob that never goes out of style.
The key is advice to find out how much angle the customer would want on the bob. This haircut also works on different hair textures and really most face shapes depending on where you put the weight line in the front.
I've also seen it work for all lifestyles, including someone who is very active and has to pull their hair back a lot. I think the products you would use depend only on the texture you are styling. This look can be amazingly curly and breathtakingly smooth and sleek.
Coloring is my favorite thing in the salon, but cutting is a very tight second, if not in a tie. There is nothing more satisfying than coloring a cut you made or cutting a color that you painted beautifully. This style is definitely one of my five best all time favorites for all the reasons I mentioned above.
Inverted bob with layers
Natural and yet on the modern track, this dark brown long, inverted layered bob works for those who want a simple look while still on the experimental side.
How would you describe this look?
I love this inverted straight bob for its depth, dimension, sheen, and texture. This inverted long bob with long layers was cut to keep the body full while adding pieces of movement through a collaboration of cutting and dyeing techniques.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This is a versatile look that requires little maintenance and works best on fine to medium hair density. When you think about styling products, shampoo and conditioner are your bread and butter, as they control your appearance and the longevity of your color. Davines Naturaltech & Essential Hair Care are great and have endless possibilities. I also love referencing the Davines Alchemic line to refresh the color and shine once a week. For this photo, I styled my guest's hair with a round brush to give them a jump, but this style can easily be worn in any way!
Long stacked inverted bob
Short choppy layers make for a beautiful long, stacked, inverted bob. Party in the back, business in the front!
Praise with bangs
Instead of going with a bob with side bangs, try these straight blunt bangs with straight hair. Stylist Sonya was right to choose blunt bangs on this edgy black reverse praise haircut!
Long inverted bob with bangs and layers
Loosen the hair by keeping several layers shorter. This long inverted bob with bangs and layers gives a rounded look that flatters women with a round face.
For naturally curly hair
This long inverted bob for curly hair gives the curls a fuller look while keeping longer curls in advance. This is gorgeous brunette treats everything well!
Structured for fine hair
Clump multiple strands together to recreate hair bands, like this long inverted bob haircut for fine hair. Soft waves give depth to the blonde highlights, which emphasize the asymmetrical cut and the ash-brown colors.
Choppy Blonde Bob for thin hair
If you make this cut, the structure of your hair will increase. Wonderful highlights on this strawberry champagne hair is the perfect finishing touch to such a choppy long inverted bob for thin hair.
A long shoulder reversal
Silky straight, deep black and angular – such inverted bob styles can only be seen on the runways at Fashion Week. Present this sleek, very long inverted bob haircut with a very long front that instantly gives a definite mood.
How would you describe this look?
This look is sexy chic and brings life and elegance into the modern bob. My favorite thing about this long inverted bob haircut is that it's simple but so sexy. Elegant lines and a silhouette to die for make every woman feel ready to take her day or celebrate the night.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Start by looking at your face shape and see where the longest front piece should fall to accentuate a nice long neckline. Next, talk about lifestyle to decide how short your back should be. For example: do you wear your hair often?
Then take a full look at your profile and decide how dramatic the angle from back to front should be. This haircut is ideal for customers with fine to medium hair thickness.
This haircut moves forward, so choose a large round brush when styling and remember to blow dry the hair forward to emphasize this sexy angle. The bigger the brush, the smoother the hair. Always follow at your ends. Feel free after flat ironing, but remember to use a heat protection spray beforehand!
This reverse praise is easy to manage on a daily basis and flattering for many face shapes if you find the right length that best suits you, whether it's kin length, shoulder length or collar bone length. I do not recommend more than 3 months between haircuts to ideally keep the shape and length of the haircut.
Beach Wavy Long Inverted Bob
How would you describe this look?
This wavy long inverted bob cut (aka wavy lob) is angled steeply and discreetly stacked in the back to reinforce its dramatic A-line shape. We decided to keep the length around the face long without a frame for smooth and continuous translation from short to long. Adding framing or a bang would break the line and change the look. The cut is accented with organically placed blonde balayage highlights and ragged waves that keep the style current and up to date.
Any advice for someone considering it?
I recommend styling this cut with ragged waves to keep the look current and up to date. For smoother textures, loosely wrap the hair in sections away from the face around a medium barrel iron. For naturally wavy hair, you can try adding a texture cream or salt spray and letting it air dry.
