A huge reason I'm still going to the gym as frequently and working out as intensely as I can is because I think it would be iconic if I ever need to start using more visible aids while being buff as fuck. Plus, if an asshole is going to be ableist toward me, I'd have a convenient cane and convenient arm strength with which to use the cane.

#disability #my legs are Incredibly Strong right now and i'm proud #but i feel i'm working out in order to hopefully mitigate my body's degradation #i know for a fact my time in this body this pain-free (ish) is very limited and i don't want to grieve it yet #i'm trying to be optimistic but i don't want to be... wrong #but i just think the combination of Buff Guy With Cane is very iconic and frankly i need to see more of that #there's this idea that the more 'able' you look the more it must be true #and the pinnacle of health is stereotypically viewed as a Buff Guy #i am pretty fucking fit right now but i still am far from health perfection #my body is decaying in front of me and i'm going to do whatever i feel is warranted to help myself #anyway... it's just weird seeing what people perceive 'health' as
