Okay, so I've finished my first playthrough of both of the new chapters of Deltarune, and boy do I have thoughts! I just want to put down first impressions/theories (more directed at understanding ch3/4 thematically than predicting 5/6/7). So of course major spoilers ahead, be very careful with this post!

Alright, so, for context, I obtained both eggs and both shadowcrystals, and I also got the shadowmantle. So you can imagine more or less how I engaged with these chapters. I have not yet played them in Weird Route.

So, thoughts!

- I love Tenna and Gerson. Wonderful new characters added to the cast.

- I adore that Toby gave my boy Rouxls more stuff to do. And he's a bisexual poly king! Go Rouxls! That whole part of Chapter 3 was delightfully hilarious. I also quite enjoyed Elinina and Lanino, on that note.

- Ramb is very Spamton/Jevil coded. He's very shadowcrystal boss/freedom coded. I feel like his role in ch3 is analogous to that of the other secret bosses, but it makes sense that he isn't a fight. I feel like narratively he also serves a role, weirdly enough, related to Ralsei? They both seem to be extremely selflesss darkners with the purpose of aiding Kris. For Ramb, it's to give Kris the games they want, and "freedom". For Ralsei, it's preventing physical and psychological pain for the heroes. It makes me think in what other ways Ramb and Ralsei could parallel each other, if there are any (one comes to mind - Ralsei becoming a pushable block in the videogame sections/Ramb asking Kris to push him out of the way).

- What was up with the curtains in the S Rank Room? Who could've been behind them? They give Kris a sword and check if he's hurt, they ask if they can dream... It's very strange. I feel like someone else can dissect that more effectively. I also find Mike as a whole quite confusing, even with the new information we're given lol.

- Friend Inside Me was not real. My last minute investment did not pay off. Oh well. It was still a funny theory.

- One of the craziest things about these chapters to me still has to be the fact that freaking image_friend shows up on endogeny's body of all things during Ralsei's beginning speech in ch3. Like, huh????? Endogeny and image friend??? There's an implication there of friend having to do with dark stuff, probably? It also shows up in Queen's basement and on the cats that Eram/Shadowmantle uses against you.

- On that note, I'm very curious about the thematic importance of the yellow/pink color scheme. It shows up on the oddcontroller, in Spamton's eyes, in Mike/cat's eyes (although I doubt that's important), it also shows up on the loading screens for the game boards... it seems to be some sort of freedom/corruption color scheme?

- On the topic of the oddcontroller, could it be the controller under Asriel's bed?

- Is the Kris that leaves the videogame being controlled by Eram/Shadowmantle? That kind of seems like the implication to me, since it says that it has work to do. It's a very cryptic character. But I feel like little videogame Kris might come back to haunt us players who got the mantle - kind of like how people have been theorizing for years about the discarded vessel.

- Chapter 3 is a wild ride. It feels like a constant mix of "haha happy go lucky games!" and "hey remember this lore thing you've been theorizing about for 4-7 years?". And the cherry on top is the Knight reveal. I think I prefer Chapter 4 overall, but comparing them is kinda lame. I do love the whole aesthetic and sountrack of Ch4 though, and it's so JUICY in lore implications. The whole section in the Holiday Estate must be studied.

- The Knight looks like a Holiday. My current thoughts are it might be Dess/created by Dess/created by Kris during the events of Dess' disappearance. It's definitely connected to the Holidays in some sense, that's for sure, and to Kris too - after you fight it and survive, it very clearly "knights" Kris instead of attacking them.

- The theme for the shadowmantle boss is called "BURNING EYES". Based on its post-fight dialogue and on the whole videogame theme, I feel like it might be referencing when you play videogames for so long/so locked in that your eyes burn. It could be just another case of Deltarune directly referencing getting "sucked into a fictional world", a videogame in this case.

- I find it interesting that when playing the shadowmantle videogame, Kris tries to run away from the bunker/shelter rather than try to go towards it. Basically, they don't want to go there in the game. Originally I chalked this up to Kris having some sort of trauma regarding the bunker, but after playing Chapter 4, could it be moreso that they don't want us to see what's inside the bunker?

- The Titan's battle theme is called GUARDIAN, and its pre-fight sprite resembles an uncanny human head. Slight photoshop Flowey vibes. What could it all mean? Well, Ralsei says Titans are fear-of-the-dark. Coupling that with his early chapter 3 speech... If Dark Worlds are what happens when you take away the light that isn't there, letting the imagination run wild and see things beyond light, then creating a dark fountain out of that makes sense as somwthing that would invoke terror. A Titan being an intense fear of the dark makes sense.

- However, the Titan's angelic and humanoid appearance is a bit confusing. In the prophecy excerpts during ch4, it seemed like the angel *wants* to be banished. Could the angel have something to do with the Titans? Is the angel a Titan? Is it the boss Titan? If the Titans represent fear of the dark, maybe the only way to defeat them is with bravery, like how Susie and Kris defeat the Titan. Then maybe banishing the angel might entail some sort of sacrifice? Maybe this is what Susie saw in the prophecy that Ralsei wanted to hide. But what is a Titan a Guardian of? The darkness? The angel?

- Speaking of that, I also thought it might have to do with Noelle. Weird Route might give me answers there, unsure. Maybe it involves fighting Noelle, or sacrificing her? "SHE WAS USED UP"

- Gerson's dialogue about rewriting stories/changing them as iterations go on is soooo interesting. On one hand, I feel like it goes directly against the supposed idea that "there is only one ending". With Ralsei himself saying that he can't bear there only being one ending, I feel like this idea was something Toby intentionally planted as part of the story, and not unbiased dev commentary on the game. Also, it further brings out the parallels between Dragon Blazers and Deltarune, connecting them to the prophecy and to Lord of the Hammer. It makes me wonder whether this will connect to Deltarune and Undertale's relationship - Is Undertale another iteration of Deltarune's legend, one written countless times after the original? Is it the other way around? I can't wait to see what Toby pulls off there. I trust him as a writer to make the metatextual part of the game make sense and be awesome.

- "The place where it rained" hit me like a truck. Chills. Does this mean we've been mistaken about Sans' name? Is he truly Sans Deltarune and not Sans Undertale? I don't have a concrete answer, but I'm soooo curious.

- I feel like the way that Gerson as a darkner works kind of refutes the idea that Ralsei could be made from Asriel's dust, because whilst it does show that a darkner made from dust and an item is entirely possible, the mechanics seem to go against the idea. "A very specific will" creates a dust darkner according to Ralsei, and Ralsei is not straight up Asriel, he has different memories and a different life. By all means, the knowledge that Ralsei has, which seems incredibly vast and sometimes perhaps beyond his own comprehension, is not knowledge Asriel would reasonably have. Their connection must come from elsewhere. Ralsei's chapter 3 dialogue about his face also makes me sus - perhaps he only adopted that face to make himself palatable to Kris? Maybe he didn't have that face until he took off the hat.

- What the hell is going on with Tenna/Kris/Knight? Game-world Tenna seems to have made a deal with Kris, whilst regular darkner Tenna seems to have made a deal with the Knight. Does Kris Knight still have hope? I'm very curious about this all. It seems the Knight wanted Tenna to keep the Heroes occupied, and Kris also wanted something from Tenna. This might imply a connection between Kris and the Knight.

- Tenna and Spamton's connection is also a bit confusing to me still and I feel like we don't yet have the full scope of Spamton's fucked-up-ness. Tenna and Spamton's falling out seems to be more focused on their interpersonal drama which stems also from Spamton's metaphysical issues but isn't directly affected by them. We can also see that Tenna straight up does not recognize Spamton in the Dealmaker Bonus Room scene. Spamton might've actually changed and shrunk since he was in Ch3. Tenna also mentions that "they never should've took that laptop home", which coupled with Ramb's dialogue kind of leads us to think that Spamton and Tenna's meeting happened when Kris and presumably Dess took Queen and King home and all the darkners interacted. Does that mean Spamton's "corruption" happened during that time too, before Queen returned to the library? I feel like there's a lot to speculate about there. After all, King always says the lightners left him behind. Perhaps he misses the days of Kris and December playing with him, and that's the "being forgotten" that he references.

- The videogame Tenna edits is just Dragon Blazers, right? Then why does the title screen appear to say Manhole? Is it yet another iteration of Dragon Blazers, like Gerson said?

- Susie and Gerson's dynamic is actually goated. One of the best parts of the entire game. I also quite liked Gerson's fight mechanically and narratively - I'd say it was peak ludonarrative consonance.

- I also quite liked the Knight fight, although some attacks maybe could've used some more refining. I'd say the Gerson fight overall feels a bit better, although I understand that the Knight fight is meant to be very very tough. I'm sad that the Knight is a shadowcrystal boss that doesn't use the freedom motif, but it's fine... I just really like that melody. And I do dig the idea of getting past a loss that seems scripted. Gaster sort of breaks the fourth wall in a new sense with encouraging you to go against a seemingly scripted failure.

- Speaking of the Knight, its BlackShard seems to do quite a lot of damage to the Titan - Kris did basically as much damage with it as Susie did with Rude Buster, in the final Titan fight. This leads me to believe that BlackShard's SlayDark ability applies against the Titan. Nothing revolutionary, sure, but it makes you wonder about the Knight's relationship with the Titans, if it holds a weapon that can heavily harm them. BlackShard also doesn't seem to do extra damage to the Titan's *shield*, so perhaps the winged angel-like shield is actually light element wise? More fuel to the weird angel-Titan connections.

- The Egg Man has gotten quite more interesting. He seems to be increasingly associated with liminal spaces, and his location in ch4 seems to even parallel/resemble/be a mental hospital? Frankly, that implication is one of the most unsettling things so far in the game. Is Man okay? Are they letting him be okay? Are they letting him not be okay?

- From what I know, obtaining the Eggs is also that one method of avoiding the chapter end achievement. I wonder what this means. Do the Eggs let you bypass some sort of normality principle? They're not too important... but not too unimportant.

- I feel like everyone was so certain that Jockington and Catti would show up in a dark world, and then they just... didn't, lmao. Seems to me like ch2 doesn't really establish a formula but rather very intentionally brings Noelle and Berdly specifically into the dark world.

- I do kinda hope we get to bring Berdly back into a dark world. He's fun.

- Dess seems extremely essential to everything going on. Not a surprise, but it feels earlier than I expected?

- Gaster (presumably him, pretty likely it is him) talking to you when you retry the Knight boss is hype as fuck, and really curious. It feels like one of those "defying fate" moments. I hope we get to use all our shadowcrystals on a non-weird route for something. Gaster also speaks at the very end, and title drops the game... very fun Mr. Fox.

- My favorite minigame was by far the rhythm game, not just because I'm very good at it, but the music and lyrics are very interesting. The lyrics seem to invoke Dess, but also our possession of Kris.

I think those are all my initial thoughts, at least right now. I hope they at least gave you avenues to think through! Feel free to leave your thoughts in a comment or reblog.

I FUCKING LOVE CHAPTER 3

Honestly No Wonder Spamton doesn't like Tenna, he's the better Version of him lol (sorry, I'm being mean)

But NOBODY could've predicted THIS Design, it's fucking glorious.

Imagine you're a 2D Pixel Sprite and suddenly you Encounter a 3D Model that does goofy dances.

Also I've seen some people predict that he's a snail, Turns out he's an ant.

Which is also super interesting, since, how much does Tenna actually get right?

Appearantly Kris's favourite food are pies, not Chocolate, which does make sense, and my sister even wondered why I Chose Chocolate lol.

Also ASRIEL'S FAVORITE SMASHING FIGHTER IS NOT YOSHI! I don't get Tenna's reference though

Tenna's rambling also kinda got me omori vibes, because of the "remeniscing about the good old Days watching TV" schtick. I think Toby hinted at the Games being pretty similar once...

Another Tenna thing: He's being super Personal with Kris, but Spamton also knows him, soo, what are the implications there?

Also kinda wanna say the one uncensored Ralsei Version of the lightners live Song about the Future losing it's rights Hit a bit too Close to Home right now, oh boy... The censoring of the Bad stuff and replacing it with Happy stuff is such a trademark Ralsei Thing to do though. And appearantly the Song might be where Dess and Noelle got their Leitmotiv from, Scratch that where Wayne Douglas GASTER got His Leitmotiv from

Anyway Back to Focus:

Kris knight. The "Knight" didn't even get a mention as far as I am, but it's gonna be real "funny" if they reveal that Kris did it because Ralsei will be Mad, and Susie will be Mad because she doesn't like it when people keep things from her But the beginning of the new Darkworld tells me 2 things: Kris might've at least created the original Darkworld somehow because the beginnings are so similar, or this is their First darkworld, and they took some inspiration. Or this is just how dust darkners Look idk Everyone in Kris's Home also of course knows their Name, but maybe that's also a sign that they're Not the knight?

Now I also wonder If Lanino and Elnina are actually also objects or If they're a TV Programm.

I also sadly didn't get enough Shadowmen to recruit :( I wonder what they're in the light world

SPEAKING OF LIGHT WORLD:

Darkners Lore got dropped on us fast huh? They even said the Line "get darker than dark" It's still a bit confusing, since I think there still definetly IS some sort of real mystical element involved, plus Ralsei's self esteem is basically non existant, of course he's convinced he's not real, plus the whole theory of Kooki that the objects are Just the Ankers for the darkners ect. So I'm not too Sure about how much truth His words actually hold when he says that darkners are Just objects. Of course the source has a bit more truth than theories, and Toby is uncomfortabke making lightner plushies, but darkners plushies are ok, but unfortunately I am biased towards Ralsei deserving to have self esteem, and fortunately I have 1&1/2 chapters ahead of me, so still plenty of room to debunk Ralsei And Support Susie's point. My sister also said that she felt the loredumo felt a little Out of nowhere, and I also kinda thought that's more something for later in the Chapter, but uhh I get why it's being done early I guess.

I am also not surprised by Susie's reaction to everything, but also kinda, since I saw more theorys about that being some sort of big breaking Up Point for everyone. But we still have the "keeping stuff from you" Angle for that's huh?

Sidepoint, but we saw Susie's room in the loredrop?!

Ok, continuinh with Darkners , my favourite Darkners: Rouxls and Lancer

Jk, maybe you know my favourite Darkners, Just wanted to say one of my theories got debunked, because Lancer might still Turn to Stone and he's okay with it, and Rouxls is fucking fantastic. To Rival the fun Gang throuple (fun Gang ship teaser) He Made His own, sadly the Rainbow was unpure, but I guess that's not because they were a throuple, but because it was Rouxls they were throupling witheth. And He hath so many funny Moments this Chapter, I loveth it

Anyway Back to my actual favourite Darkner: Purirun's weed friend (Ralsei).

He went from being ignored by Queen to the Main Event (at least for me)

He was so adorable through everything, and one of His stats also got replaced by guts. Interesting.

This Chapter we're really able to kinda... challange His self image a bit?

You can choose to Switch to Susie multiple Times, but what I did instead was Talk to Ralsei and pep Talk him a bit. I know it's probably Not what Kris might've wanted (I'm sorry Kris), but I needed that for him ok? I don't know If I want him to know that I was the one who told him that. Maybe I do.

Also Ralsei is actually talking about something seemingly important with Kris when we're supposed to not be looking.

Two more things, I Had the Option to tell Ralsei that He "Looks familiar" but didn't, I wonder what he'll say then, and also I wonder what Susie was doing. I am really intrigues by the thematical implications of choosing Ralsei over Susie, and kinda also robbing Kris of little Moments of freedom, while giving Ralsei individuality in Turn. Heck, I wonder If Kris would've told Ralsei that they opened the fountain, If this was their First time and Ralsei didn't know about it of course since He describes the Dark fountain AS a dark presence again, but hey it's the Dark world everything is dark

Susie's Controller Switch Up was also great. Ralsei got to be the one that makes the decisions, and while you could Interpret that in a more sinister way, in a Sense that it was always kinda him in Control, and about the player n stuff, you can also See that as him actually doing stuff for himself for once, as well as Kris playing as Susie, basically the same thing, and Susie being more Kind and gentler as Ralsei. Susie even got to play as Kris, hey! But interestingly enough, it was while Tenna wasn't watching that all of that stuff happened. Another sidenote but I adore their little Interactions while playing, and that it really felt like they were playing in their own (I also wonder If Kris was Like angsty the whole time over playing a Videogame as someone who's played AS a Videogame lol, sorry Kris)

Another thing, about Ralsei and Spamton, and darkners. I wonder If He doesn't want His Friends to worry about darkners because He has auch a "self hating" View of them? He describes himself as not being enough to fill the "Hearts" of Susie and Kris with His friendship because he's "not real" but He makes the mistake that He compaires the Heart to the stomach. Susie isn't Flowey, Ralsei isn't an unaware Videogame character to her. His dialogue won't loop, she won't get bored of him. Her influence on him is making him such a rounded character already, the Love He can give her and Kris is just as real as a lightner's love and I hope so, so much that the culmination of His Arc will BE him realizing that.

I also really wonder now how Ralsei viewed himself before Krusie came crusin around (I'm using shipnames now, doesn't mean I mean the ship, OK? Ok.) did He feel anything but told himself that it didn't Matter because he's a Darkner? This shouldn't be real to him? Did He internalized this Sentiment so much that He even stopped really Feeling for a while?

I kinda lost my Point earlyer but this is what I meant with "self hating". Darkner= not real= not Matter so why worry about him

It's genuenly so sad seeing Ralsei actually start Feeling regret and even guild over being Susie's and Kris's Friends now, how He thinks he'll never be enough to fulfil His responsibility, and that He so desperately wants to Join them but can't, while Susie is Desperate for him to, maybe even Just Tell her that he's real, for him to be wrong.

It's also so bittersweet how He asks Kris to buy Susie an icecream and then Tell her it's from him. I of course want to Grant His wish (sorry again Kris) but I hope more that he'll get to buy her the icecream himself somehow. (I just don't Hope that that means we'll have to Control Ralsei now, since I don't want to Take away this skrunkly's freedom too)

Another Darkworld Ralsei related Thing, Susie is a character that Changes the people around her, but, Ralsei's explanations and His Feelings about being a friend at His 1 on 1 time with Kris, He sounded as If the Game wanted to imply he's right. I wonder how that'll be resolved or dealt with...

Last Ralsei theory and the I'll Talk about Him, Susie, and Kris kinda being Precious Angels, ok.

Ralsei specifically tells you that He may Look like a Monster but he's a darkner. Not any specific Monster (though why would He mention Asriel tbh) just a Monster. For me that debunks the Asriel=Ralsei stuff (never believed it anyway, and If anything, the ideal self theory is just far more likely) (also No Joke I thought Ralsei was gonna reveal what objects He was 2 different Times, once with the icecream, and once at the Darkner Lore drop). At the very least He doesn't See himself similar to Kris's Family but, I didn't Pick the "Look familiar" option and we have yet to save Toriel, who knows what she's thinking about this.

Okay now Back to the blorbos:

Drama romance bloodshed between Ralsusie at the beginning, the romance Part is the throuple teaser btw

Ralsei's new eyebag Sprites and Susie's desperation Sprites make my Heart wrench

Ralsusie "swearing" at Tenna in sync was super funny, especially because it was Ralsei doing it

Ralsei has friends, but... WHY DON'T YOU JUST RIP MY HEART OUT WHILE YOU'RE AT IT?!

Okay, into other little stuff and then I'll Stop rambling:

Towiel has a wittle crown. Some speculated she might be a witch, but she's a Queen again. I find it interesting, that she's captured for the Most Part. I hope we'll See her interact with Kris n Ralsei for character development

Lanino goes by they/them appearantly? Maybe to parallel Kris, since the whole Rouxls throuple thingy was kinda to Combat the Fun Gang throuple. I was surprised that Elnina goes by She/her, but I think Lanino's pronouns are also because Girl sun and Boy Moon, while Clouds are usually girls... In the languages I speak were Articles are gendered, and I know that's probably Not the Case in Spanisch, but I take no criticism, the sun is a girl!

Also Rouxls is Not only pan, but also Poly, good for him

Very important! While we looked for the Egg on the raft ride we found an "unfinished room", that looked like the glaciour thingy. We even found another, and Susie kept pressing, but we never managed to get in.

Yeah so I'm Completely Normal about the new Deltarune chapters! They're not consuming my every waking thought, nope, not at all!

....But for real, I cannot recover. There is SO MUCH to unpack.

I genuinely don't know where to begin. Chapter 3 had me climbing the bloody walls with all the Spamton references - and then, there he was!!! 😭 I'm not going to lie, I know the scene was really stupid (in a good way) and played for a laugh, but the fact that he's actually ok and can just pop up whenever actually got me emotional. One of those rare characters that has such a grip on me and I don't see it letting go any time soon, I love him so much and am glad he's okay (super ironic, isn't it, with the game's heavy themes of interacting sensibly with fiction and accepting that the characters aren't real!).

The overall vibe of the Chapter was so much fun, but with some seriously dark undertones (hello, S rank room minigames and your allusions to the Weird Route 👀). And I have to say it - Tenna is fucking brilliant, what a great character. And then the *Roaring Knight*, I was literally yelling at the screen. I think it's Dess, we all think it's Dess right - I'm cooking a bit of a theory with that one though that I need to cohesively write at some point.

And Chapter 4.... wow. The whole hometown section was amazing, like I just don't know what to believe or who to trust - certainly not Carol though, my god, she's terrifying. I also loved how it really portrayed the fact that we're almost working *against* Kris as well as with them, it's a wonderfully interesting dynamic. The atmosphere in the dark world in this chapter was hauntingly beautiful (along with it's soundtrack), I was hoping beyond hope for a dark fountain in the church and was not disappointed. The boss at the end was absolutely epic and I wasn't expecting it at all, like we've had an actual *TITAN*, where do we go from there?! Gerson showing up was a real "OH SHIT" moment, and his story had me fully in tears with the letter to Alvin and Susie's reaction to his true nature.

The whole end section just fucking broke me to be honest, with Ralsei's reaction to Susie seeing the end of the prophecy - and *Susie's* reaction to seeing the end of it. Ralsei going on about "one ending" really gets me too - like, surely not? I refuse to entertain that idea. I feel like the solution to it all could be a bit unorthodox (and possibly connected to the Weird Route with how that takes you "off script" so to speak). And don't even get me STARTED on "The Place Where It Rained", I almost launched the Switch across the room 😭 That certainly carries some implications doesn't it?!

I'm actually playing the Chapters through for a second time at the moment, to get the eggs and do the secret bosses. The Chapter 3 secret boss was horrific and took HOURS, but I did it in the end. Just back at the start of Chapter 4 now.

And the icing on the goddamn cake is I go browsing through Tumblr tonight after all this and find myself slowly becoming obsessed with Spamtenna - thanks for that, folks 😂

March told me I needed to socialize more and couldn’t spend all my time doomscrolling, figured I’d make an ask blog…after all it isn’t doom scrolling if you’re the one making the content!

Hi! I’m Dess, a proud crew member of the jellyfish pirates. I mostly work as a mechanic aboard the ship as the foil to Novels engineering…ness.(that massive student debt we both took on was totally worth it I swear.) As for hobbies I play the violin whenever I have free time, and I’m currently working on making homemade kombucha…which totally won’t explode if we ever depressurize, how silly would that be?

March, if you see this. Yes I am well aware making a blog like this without your permission goes against the rules of conduct and public image. However I am more than willing to argue that you did indeed give me permission by forcing my hand.

(OOC, same rules as most ask blogs, no NSFW, no stuff like that. This is a blog for an GG OC, Dess…who’s less of an oc and more a “oh look at this background character, let’s make them a actual character type moment)

(Occurs to me I should actually make a lil description of this character here, I kept it far too vague. So, Dess here was originally built off of the fact that their wasn’t really a December pirate ever made, then followed by a jellyfish pirate who is never named, disappears after XX, and who has a cool design + plays the violin and you have the makings of a Dess! I don’t count dizzy as December due to lore implications of her only being apart of the crew for like…a year? Two years? So while the D works it just isn’t quite there. I also noticed that despite having most jobs needed on a ship, the jellyfish pirates didn’t have a mechanic, only an engineer. So, taking all of these factors together I made Dess, a little bundle of anxious nerves who fidgets with technology and only feels comfortable playing music, struggling to figure herself out. Long, poorly grammared rant over? Yea. This is my second ask blog in the gg franchise, the other one is still ongoing and I wanna keep em separate, so I’m gonna just…not connect them. Adds to the mystery and lets me focus on just writing em as the different characters)

thought of more stuff while i was in the shower lol

i reallyyyyyy loved the bits of development for both ralsei and susie and their friendship together this chapter😭 ralsei’s self worth issues on full display talking about how lightners shouldn’t have to worry about darkners and how darkners should only exist to make lightners happy oughhhhh. but then susie shutting it down and opening up about her own struggles and reaffirming that ralsei is cared about and won’t be thrown away OUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH my babies my sweet little guys…….

also circling back to the bits of darkner lore we got bc i forgot some major things that i will be pondering on: why the fuck was endogeny in that cutscene when ralsei was talking about darkners. i guess it could just be like. a random monster design there for no reason?? but it feels so odd especially considering they’re A) dead and in the graveyard and B) presumably not an amalgamate in deltarune’s universe? and then icing on the fucking cake is friend’s face appearing on them which i don’t even know what to do with that.

speaking of friend it was very cool to see things from the sweepstakes or other teasers actually show up in game. felt like just enough that i wasn’t like doing it all the time but when it did come up it was like a “holy shit the thing!!!!!!” moment. veryyy suspicious of the start of the tenna spamton encounter where the pipis fell out of the closet tho considering all the sweepstakes connections with friend to both pipis and the closet. and tenna talking about people finding out his secret…

still so caught up on not knowing anything about the secret boss bc i didn’t find them. like what if that got answered there… i don’t want to spoil myself but also i want to Know… waugh

ok also: ramb implying noelle and kris used to play make believe with all the darkners used as objects in chapters 1-3??? that feels crazy in terms of lore implications to me. like i was working under the assumption that darkners remember their time as objects, but i also thought there was maybe Some magic fantasy stuff at work what with the connections between queen and king and other chapter 1 and 2 darkners. but just having it be like. fully connected like that??? is crazy to me. also another connection between specifically kris and noelle and the dark worlds, makes everything feel so much more interesting knowing that a lot of the characters backstories were partially created By Them. there’s also some kind of snowgrave route implications there but. i don’t know if i have anything concrete to say there. like maybe something about them being the creators of the backstories for those dark worlds making them important so like. breaking the narrative through them is more impactful??? or something???? idk

AND. the freaking door oh my god. i already kind of lined this out in my liveblog post about it but like. pine tree is dess and undyne is badge right? like obviously. and i feel like with what we know about the prophecy the delta rune represents our 3 main protagonists. so like what we have to go in the bunker and it… does something??? why did the door creak open at the end when susie had already walked away. is chapter 4 dark world the bunker instead??? surely not right the church theming was So obvious. where the hell does gaster fit into this equation now? he connected us to kris’s soul, he Maybe made the prophecy (though could that possibly be dess now somehow as well?). like i guess they’re working together? for a long time ive had this reading of the prophecy that like making the fountains and going on dark world adventures is part of it, “only then three hero’s appear at worlds edge” and all that (also works well with ralsei’s whole schtick of “exactly” following the prophecy and expecting us to stay on the normal route), and i think that reading could still make sense if knight dess is working with gaster (or just straight up made the prophecy herself or along with him for whatever reason) but its just like. Why. what is their end goal what is going on why do they need undyne and us to do. whatever it is they’re doing with the bunker’s dark fountain?

got kind of theory spitball-y at the end there but. theres my (additional) chapter 3 thoughts

ok actually one more thing: WHO IS MIKE. like is the bit just that he’s tenna’s off screen tech guy. were we all making secret boss mike theories bc of one line of spamton dialogue only for it to just be another tenna hint. (side note reminder i have not found the chapter 3 secret boss yet and don’t want to be spoiled if it’s actually still mike I DONT WANNA KNOW (from you))

deltarune chapter 3 initial thoughts!

major spoilers under cut! obviously!

doing a little post to try and collect my thoughts right after finishing chapter 3 for the first time.

i guess first off- it was SO different from how i was expecting, but also SO good. basically my only 3 hopes/expectations going in were: A) i hope there's at least one surprising lore reveal B) i hope there's a character i can really get obsessed with and C) i hope it's fun :] and BOY HOWDY were those expectations met lmao

i guess the thing i wasn't expecting the most (well. besides the one Big reveal lmao) was the structure of it? i was far more expecting something along the lines of chapter 2 i guess, with toriel as like a tag along character and a relatively linear area layout, but it turns out pretty much neither of those things were true??

the minigame/tv show sections with tenna were SO fun. honestly i feel like i can't talk about those without talking about how much i loved tenna as a character, so first of all: OH MY GOD I LOVE TENNA. he's ridiculous and over the top which is basically all i hoped he would be if he were the sort of gameshow host type that it was looking like he was. his speech quirk thing with the word art is so very good. and honestly i think part of the reason i like him so much is bc i started out the chapter trying to do character voices and he was Very fun to read dialogue for lmao. i also love his whole thing of like. being afraid of being abandoned bc no one watches tv anymore. and all the spamton references oh my goodness. i already said this in a liveblog somewhere but i was really expecting maybe a couple lines vaguely referencing spamton, and there was SO MUCH more than that (at least in my playthrough. no idea how/if it differs if you haven't beaten him in chapter 2).

i feel like i got off track. the minigame like zelda-esque sections were so fun i really liked doing the puzzles and that part where the fun gang all swapped controllers and the part where you get the raft and can go out into the ocean and find secret stuff lmao.

the enemies were also pretty alright, a lot of them were hard but i'm hoping i'll get better at them when i inevitably end up replaying these chapters a couple times. standout for me is Obviously shuttah, their design is bangerrrrrr and their bullet patterns with the freeze/unfreeze type parts and their act things with the photo taking minigame were my favorite new battle mechanic.

i am kinda sad that the secret boss seems very secret this chapter, no idea where they were besides maybe the s-rank rooms or something to do with the minigame sections? i think i saw "shadow mantle" on like the loading screen of the very first one and there was stuff out of bounds that i didnt know how to get to thats gotta be something right? (please don't spoil me on if its either of those i kinda wanna replay and see if i can figure it out myself lol)

tenna's boss battle was alright too, not the most fun boss fight to me bc i think that title still goes to giga queen but i liked the minigame rush thing at the end that was pretty cool

oh my god wait i forgot to talk about lanino and elnina and rouxls. possibly top ten best/funniest sections in all of deltarune to me i love rouxls' loser polyamorous-and-bisexual-but-no-one-wants-him swag i was dying laughing at their interactions. also veryyyy intrigued by the possible asgore/toriel parallels with elnina and lanino especially since they ended up together by the end? but then again who would be the awkward third to bring them together...? rudy? ...sans??

also fascinated by the little bit of darkner lore we got. like the ones who were supposed to be from this dark fountain turning to stone? idk if i understood that fully im gonna be honest. is it because they didn't fit in with the tv theme, or because tenna didn't want them there, or both? or was it something else, like because dess/the knight showed up at the end and she like... brought more darkness in and that made them turn?? idk

speaking of knight dess. KNIGHT DESS??????????? i was not prepared. it was never a theory i put thaaaat much thought into simply because it felt like a scenario where it only made sense because there wasn't that much known about dess but like. i guess that worked out lmao! happy for anyone who was heavy dess knight believing before this u guys earned it. i did have a thought like. a few weeks before the new chapter's release where i was like. maybe gaster is opening the fountains in order to make us fulfill the prophecy and that way you don't have to worry about who could've had access to those rooms to make the fountain bc he's in the depths or outside time and space or whatever. and i had another thought off of that that was like well it could also be dess for the exact same reason. but like. I DIDNT EXPECT IT TO BE TRUE?? im like. still reeling from this. knight dess real. ALSO SHE HAS GASTER HOLE HANDS. IS GASTER HOLE HANDS ACTUALLY REAL AND NOT JUST FANON CUZ IF IT IS I'LL LOSE MY SHIT.

idk i think that's most of what i have to say as far as initial reactions go (outside of all my live reacting i did today as well lmao). crazy that toriel just slept through all of that she must sleep like a rock goddamn

will prob take a break before doing chapter 4 tomorrow bc it's getting kinda late and also i wanna see if i can draw some of the new stuff :3 shuttah im coming for you you Will get drawn....

sorry i was having a moment of weakness im so normal right now. that chapter was PHENOMENAL the way the intense fight just halts for the sisters to reunite the buildup. dramatic irony worked so well here because the MOMENT noelle and kris are separated is when it cemented in that the empress was definitely dess and the build up and waiting AND OH MY GOD THE SNOWGRAVE ALLUSIONS? the implication that snowgrave is a version where Ambition got kris’ body instead of Red UGH this was so good

my first impression of your muse: Since I've met you through Varis, Imma go with him - & let me just gush about how much you put into his portrayal as well as the history in which you built around him, his family issues, & how it all ultimately shaped him to be the man he is - all in which was learned very early on upon the first following. Your Varis & my Zenos feels as though they click in the way they should between two different roleplayers ultimately using the members of a very messed up family! While our interactions have thus far remained small with no "real" threads (aka long-going roleplays), I genuinely enjoy them! And there was that memorable one involving the ship verse with @bastard-son-aymeric's Aymeric which LOL, oh man the drama that went with it!

my first impression of you: Oh man, I was nervous? I thought you to be high-tier roleplayer with little time for me. But no, I learned that you're just as much of a nervous dork as I am, asdflkja!! an AU I think would be interesting for our muses: UH. Good question... if I go right off the top of my head, maybe Varis finds himself in Rosa's care after she revives & heals him. Her magic, after all, is not aether-based, it's neutral & depends entirely on her own energy. So, that's a random idea, though one I find myself liking to now that I've written it out!

Now obviously I won't be put-off if you prefer to stick with ffxiv Rosaria where it'd be simplest as well as simply being in the same universe, no complicated relations of gods & the implications of other universes/realms!

Entrapdak Month

9. Human AU

“Oh sorry. Is Hector home?” The short woman in purple asked with a smile on her youthful tanned face. Freckles on her cheeks and nose, spread out like stars in the night sky. Her smile wide enough to go ear to ear. Two purple pigtails on the back, a beanie hat covering the top of her head. She wore a sleeveless shirt with ‘Dexter Morgan is my role model’, two strange fingerless gloves, a pair of dirty purple sweat pants and a pair of high welling boots. Also dirty. And muddy. She stood proud, she gave off a feeling of mighty height, always towering with her personality. A bag hanged across her left shoulder. She stood on the welcome mate - which had a red ‘not’ sprayed on it, probably one of V’s pranks. She seemed unphased by it or by the light drizzle of rain that night.

Infront of her, in the doorway of the dark mansion, stood eight or so oddly similar looking siblings. Most towering over her, with the exception of Moe in his wheelchair, and Zed who was ten. All of them looked at each other, heads and eyes turning from side to side, disbelief plastered on their facial expressions. After a few moments of awkward silence of staring at each other the disbelief turned to satisfaction and smug happiness. A smirk formed on each of their faces, except for Lee who never smiled, and Zed who was too young to understand. They looked as if they had won a deal or a prize, which they did.

“Sure. He’s in the living room. He’s been waiting, all nervous like.” said V, he was the one with the short shaved hair dyed red, even though all of them looked identical, boys and girls alike, yet he had a more vulture-y look to him with his pointy chin and even skinnier form then Hector, which Entrapta thought was impossible. His voice held a cocky tone to it.

“Please come in.” The woman with the blue mohawk welcomed her in, moving off to the side giving her space to move past them, gesturing with her hand to come into in the house. This was Dess.

“Oh, thank you.” Entrapta tapped her boots on the not-welcome mate getting off the mud before entering the household. The tap was half-hearted so the boots still left semi-muddy imprints on the nice wooden floor. Which had Moe scrunch up his face at the sight, he decided to just pass it, he was going to take care of that later. But hey, it’s the thought that counts. She was kindly asked to take them off and walk around freely in her socks. Dess gestured to the living room. Once again all observers stayed under the door frame of the living room, looking in on the interaction with giddy expressions on their faces.

Sure enough the short visitor spotted Hector in the centre of the room pacing back and forth, looking down at his phone screen. He looked nervous. Entrapta, from over his shoulder, saw her and Hector’s photo from the science fair, with her name above in contacts. She suddenly realised her phone was buzzing the entire way here, Hector must’ve been texting her all this time. He was always so worried, so self-conscious and unsure of himself, but only around her. She found it cute, in a way. Hector still hadn’t noticed her. Entrapta pulled out her phone and glanced at her messages from ‘Hordikins’, 48 messages unread. A giggle almost escaped her throat, she looked at the stream of continuous texts, her lips curling up. Messages were minutes apart. First:

‘Entrapta, you wished to meet. Where would that take place?’

‘Did you mean at your house? I would like to make sure, I wouldn’t want to intrude unwelcomed.’

‘WAIT, did you mean my house?! Because it is a bad idea!’

‘No. No. No.’

‘That is an awful idea. My Brother would kill me.’

‘My Brother will NOT allow it!’

‘Pls stay away!’

‘No please hold on, that sounded wrong. I’m sorry!’

‘I did NOT mean it like that!!’

‘Entrapta please answer!’

‘I am sorry!!!’

‘We can meet at your household. I could come over to your place.’

‘NO wait i didnt mean it like that either!’

‘Plase text bak’

‘Or call’

‘if you wish’

Entrapta had never seen Hordak’s grammar diminish as it continued, well not in text, he turned to an intelligible red tomato in real life every time he talked to her. And just as she finished reading over the last text bubble a new one blipped in. Hector must’ve heard it, because he turned around, his gaze was met with her own eyes, and for a moment he froze. A blush ran across his face, he was paralyzed on the spot with a heatwave storming inside him. Entrapta took the sight in, he wore a black turtle neck, his standard glasses and a black and gold dress with none of his famous slits - which slightly disappointed her. But it got better when she noticed he was wearing the pair of Star Trek socks she gave him for his birthday, she couldn’t believe he actually wore them. She felt her heart melt a little. She could barely hold back an ‘aw’ and it took all of her willpower to do so.

Hector’s blue dyed hair was messy, like he was, prier to her arrival, running through it frantically. A single lock of hair hung down his face, she looked to see Hector nervous, confused and paniced. They maybe realised that they stared at each other in silence a little too long, so Hector cleared his voice. He combed back the rogue lock of hair to look more presentable. His gaze shifted to the cluster of his siblings in the door way to the living room, pocking their heads in with smiles on their faces. Some suggestive ones too. He scowled at them. He set his phone aside.

“Entrapta, could we step out for a moment?” He asked with a wobble in his voice, trying his best to act tough and strong like he always did.

“No, no. We were all just going out for the game anyway... So you two will have the house to yourselves.” Dess stated as she directed her brothers out to the front door. She and Hector locked eyes, she was up to something he felt like. He narrowed his eyes at them, but didn’t do much else. Entrapta was pretty oblivious to the tension and implication.

Hector rubbed his nose, the unwanted audience wasn’t leaving quick enough for him, so he barked at them to chase them off, “Get out!” he yelled as they exited the house with V being the last one out, showing his tongue to him. The doors closed. He returned his gaze to Entrapta. He gestured with his hand to the coach as he himself sat down, Entrapta gladly followed suit as she plopped down on it. “I- um- I’m sorry about them... W-why are you here, Entrapta?”

Entrapta smiled back at him, “Because I wanted to see you silly. I missed you.” Hector wanted to reseed into the coach and never come out, she missed him? He didn’t know she cared that much for him. He found he didn’t know what to do with his hands so he had them strangely intertwined with each other. “And also because I wanted to show you something!” Stars in her eyes, Hector loved looking into them, he could do so all day. Entrapta unzipped her bag and plunged her hand into it and retrieved an item from it. She held it high into the air, “Ta-Da!”.

“What is it?”

“It’s a movie! I thought we could watch something together. Haven’t seen you all week. I missed you.” There it was again that confession, she missed him. He could not believe it, he couldn’t wrap his head around it. He looked at the DVD cover his guest waved in his face, he did not recognise it, he didn’t watch many movies. Nonsensical activities were not allowed in their household by their big Brother. The first game he ever played was Candy Crush on Entrapta’s phone, two weeks ago. He had very limited knowledge and interaction with pop culture. He did not go out much.

“Again, what is it?” Hector asked discombobulated.

“Well, I don’t exactly know, the blurb is super enigmatic. But I heard it’s really good, or that it’s a sin against god, no real middle ground when it comes to it. But I thought we could watch it together!” She rotated the rectangle container side to side, like a mother dangling keys infront of a baby, “Come on, I know how much you love being negative and critique things. You could actually have fun with it.”

“Fun?! You take that back.” He actually managed to make a joke, and it seemed to get Entrapta as she started to giggle. He really hoped it was genuine rather than a pity laugh. The short woman got off the coach and slotted the CD into the DVD player. Hector almost had a heart attack, they weren’t supposed to use it, it was off limits. He thanked the lord that his older Brother was out of town. Entrapta hopped back to the couch. And laid her own head on his shoulder. He stayed quiet, his pose stiffened, his breathing became heavier, his heart rate became more rapid. He hoped his heart wouldn’t jump out of his chest. Some spoilery thought under the cut

So I've currently just finished the Holliday mansion sections, which Was Insane and I rly need to take a breather.

The appearance of saves and item indicators in the Lightworld FREAKS ME THE FUCK OUT.

But oh boi, the section with Kris...

I kinda freaked out when this happened before I could rly inspect anything else, I went straight for the guitar, and felt so shitty for some reason. In general just, struggle with Kris makes me feel rly shitty somehow. I do find it incredibly interesting, how the game so far seem to, um, insistant on showing them as a malicious entity? From like, a surface lavel perspective. I am incredibly surprised by their collaboration with Noelles mother of sll people, but I do have possible guesses on that front, I just rly didn't expect them being on like, such good terms?

Depending on Her motivation (sry I rly need to remember her name bruh) I feel like, they're either manipulated by an authority figure, or, whatever the ends of their cooperation are, it is very important to them both. Since I don't quite have a good read on Noelles mother yet, it's hard to tell. I may have something more substantial later, either with new info or more analysis.

Either way, there's Very Little that could happen in the game to make me turn on Kris, I just, Don't see that happening.

Something I was thinking a kot, while catching up on the established lore before the ch 3 and 4 dropped, is how, narratively, I have this feeling, like, the game may have several umm, let's say outcomes (not endings, not necessarily) that cannot co-exist. So, basically, a positive outcome in some regard, may leave out something else. And vice versa? It's Costly. And, unlike Undertale, these options may not be as straightforwardly "good" or "bad". Rather, you will have to make a call about what You care more about. No compromise. That's the vibe, at least. I don't rly have a substantial explanation, it's more of a meta sensation in the context of the similar creations and their themes, as well as what would be novel to explore in this context?.

"The bonds you break, may make you stronger "- leaves rent free in my head. I just can't help but feel, that curtain desirable outcomes may come at a grave Cost. Make you question the utilitarian equation. That is, my feeling, at least.

If we assume search for Dess is somewhat central to this dilemma, maybe: it's hopeless and our journey is either to accept or fall deeper into denial.

Or. The cost of saving her. May be more than You're willing to give? I almost hope I'm wrong ahah. Regardless, I just know I will be sobbing my guts out, whatever may the actual plot wnd up being.

The S-rank room...

I found that fucked up console thing. It creeped me out, unreasonably.

The resolution of it.... "She was used up".. "You were used up"....

Considering yhis is, very obviously a foreshadowing. I'm fucking scared. What's up with the Key???. The devilhorns door... The mentions of the Demon... I'm at a loss. I didn't progress much further on the safe I did that secret stuff on. Idk what the implications are. I do know already there's apparently a weird route there (thanks yourube thumbnails and titles 🙃), not sure how willing I am to explore these myself. Will see after I finish my primary route.

A Review of the Year – Writing Meme 2018

I’ve been really terrible at answering memes I’ve been tagged in these last few weeks. Sorry about that everyone! But it’s a new year, and both @mordinette and @ripley95things tagged me for the thing a couple days ago so let’s get things started right :D

Total number of completed stories:

If you count all the one shots from Desstober (when I wrote a one shot for Dess most days), about 19. Considering the longfics I still have in the works, I’m clinging to that number to remind myself that I can actually finish the things I start.

Total word count:

I’m gonna go with words posted because the words written are kinda scattered and hard to count, so: 45,869. Oof. Probably my least productive year in a while, but that’s fine. Can’t change it now. That just leaves more words for me to write in 2019 :D

Fandoms written in:

Pretty exclusively Mass Effect, but @pagerunner and I are still kicking around a crossover for the shows Lucifer and Leverage.

Looking back, did you expect to write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected?

I definitely started 2018 with grander aspirations, but circumstances converged on me so that I had next to no Me Time for about, oh, nine months. (Not for the reason that length of time usually implies, but the real reason is headdeskingly similar *sigh*)

What’s your own favorite story of the year?

This question is so haaaarrrrd! Because I like a lot of things I wrote for different reasons. I like You shouldn’t have come here because it’s kind of the first moment Dess starts to grow up. I like All’s Fair because it’s finally letting my OTP ship sail. I like I know you do because it’s such a great brother-sister moment between Dess and Hadrian. I like You should have seen it because it was kind of a sweet moment and much-needed support between Dess and Alli. I like Light in the Dark because I don’t write nearly enough Vetra even though I love her with my whole heart. I CAN’T CHOOSE AND YOU CAN’T MAKE ME.

Did you take any writing risks this year?

Not especially. Well kind of. Not in technique or structure or anything. I’ve held the Hannah/Dess ship pretty close to my chest for a while now, but even though I’ve intended them to be endgame since pretty early in writing Hawks and Doves, I’ve written them almost exclusively platonically with a lot of subtext hinting at more romantic feelings. But in All’s Fair, they finally, finally, FINALLY kissed! I considered that kiss, and this ship, a bit of a risk because I’m working with one canon character who’s basically an OC and another OC, so there’s next to nothing in the games that hints at their story. It’s a whole new ship, specific to my universe, and it’s friends-to-lovers on top of it. I took a risk in hoping I’d written their relationship well enough to this point that anyone reading the story would either 1) at least be able to see the natural evolution of their relationship, or more ideally 2) actively want them to get together. So far, the response to them getting together has been overwhelmingly positive, so I feel like this risk paid off :D

Do you have any fanfic or profit goals for the new year?

YES! I wanna finish All’s Fair (or the gala fic, as I’ve been calling it) because then the whole Hannah/Dess ship will be solidified and I’ll finally be able to get on with things in Family Resemblance without that little turn of events hanging out there. And I know I’ve only got the first chapter posted, but there’s a whole lot more I’ve written. I just started posting it in November and then the holidays started happening so :/ Right now, I’m a couple hundred words away from having the next three or four chapters done :D

Best/most popular story of the year?

I’m not exactly sure how to measure this one, but I’m gonna say the first chapter of All’s Fair takes the cake because it’s a completely new ship that wasn’t in the games, and it’s had a pretty positive reception. And for just one chapter of OC shipping (and so far the only thing that’s happened is one kiss), it has about 100 hits, which is pretty good for me!

Story of mine most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:

I don’t quite like the implication behind claiming something is “underappreciated” because I’m always thrilled for any appreciation, but one story I think didn’t quite get the platform I would’ve like for it was Light in the Dark. It’s a good story, but the fandom for Mass Effect: Andromeda petered out a bit when BioWare said they were putting the franchise on ice. What can you do :/

Most fun story to write:

I had an absolute ball writing all those one shots for Dess in October, so I’ll take them together and say Between the Letters was the most fun :D

Story with the single sexiest moment:

I don’t usually write sexy things, so the kiss in All’s Fair is definitely the sexiest thing I wrote last year. Maybe People like you have no imagination is up there too, but it didn’t have the same emotion behind it.

Most sweet story:

I think Light in the Dark also gets this one. It’s a formative moment between Vetra and Sid as they’re trying to make it on their own, and despite the challenges, they can still take a moment to be sisters.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:

Justification, the chapter of Family Resemblance I posted last year, made me consider other aspects of my OC Bethany Greenwood. Before that chapter, she’d started to fade into the background, but after Justification, I have more plans for her :D

Most unintentionally telling story:

In 2018? Hm… I’m drawing a blank. If I’ve written anything that’s telling, it’s probably more obvious to others than it is to me :P

Hardest story to write:

FAMILY RESEMBLANCE OMG

Write an alphabet fic, I said!

It’ll be fun I, said!

Let’s make it a political intrigue crossed with a family saga spanning 30-ish years! And change perspectives every chapter! No big deal!

*cries about it*

Biggest disappointment:

That I didn’t write more :/ But I’m trying not to be disappointed about that. You can’t drive by looking in the rearview mirror. I might not have written as much as I wanted last year, but I have plenty to write this year :D

Biggest surprise:

That so many people are so enthusiastically on-board with Hannah/Dess :D My heart is so full that so many readers were rooting for them!

Relationships:

Mostly Hannah/Dess, but there was also a little Dess/Adrian that was fun (if a little sad) to write! I also wrote a little bit about Dess/Cassia and their . . . interesting relationship. I consider Cassia aromantic and Dess demiromantic, so neither one of them considers their sexual relationship something that would ever last once it stopped being fun. They are friends, though, and Cassia does care about Dess being happy, so she’s actually very happy to learn about Dess and Hannah finally making romantic overtures :P

Proudest achievements:

Honestly, that I was able to write anything at all. I was especially happy about fleshing out some of Dess’s background and character (especially the parts that don’t include Hannah) because I feel like she’s more than just a love interest now. And the fact that I wrote 18 one-shots for her in one month surprised even me! I wanna do that again, but with Sana this time :D

Writing goals for 2019:

Finish writing All’s Fair. This is at the top of my list because I really can’t proceed with Family Resemblance until All’s Fair is done. Thankfully, it’s not supposed to be that long, maybe 40k words at most and I’m already sitting at about 20k.

Continue writing Family Resemblance. The next chapter is K (Kismet) and it’s mostly finished but still needs some pretty heavy editing—and it’s gonna have a special appearance by Adrian Nyx :D Then L (Liminal) still needs Alli’s half, but it’s gonna loop Bethany Greenwood into the story more tightly in Michael’s half, which is already done. Then M (Mindoir) still needs to be written, and I’ve been putting it off because it’s gonna be so hard on everyone :( Then N (Nexus) has Alli’s half done and about half of the second part, which will be from a perspective that’s neither Hannah’s nor Michael’s :D Really if I can work Alli through the rest of her pre-Alliance life (O, for Opportunity) this year, I’ll consider it a win.

Write a month of one-shots for Sana. It was a lot of fun when I did it for Dess, and I have a lot I want to write about for Sana in the same way! And for anyone wondering, yes. There will indeed be at least a brief glimpse at baby!Sana :D

Who knows? I might even post a little smut ;)

I think I’m also gonna start keeping closer track of my word counts this year. I’m not gonna set myself a word count goal, but I think it would be informative to know when I’m most and least productive and figure out why. Let’s say every first of the month I’ll tally the words from the previous month and break it down from there. Yay spreadsheets :D

As meninas desceram do palco num estado de pura euforia, correram para o bar ofegantes e sorridentes.

- Isso foi foda! - Lexa disse sem se conter, provocando risadas nas outras.

- Vejam só quem está se soltando. - Raven comentou com aprovação.

- Já estava na hora, pensei até que...- Octávia completava animadamente antes de ser interrompida por Clarke.

- Bebidas primeiro, por favor! - Quatro pares de olhos observavam a loira atentamente agora, era a única delas que parecia estar com o humor azedo e ninguém conseguia entender o porquê.

Ignorando a mudança de humor repentina de Clarke, as meninas se reuniram no balcão para virar as doses de bebida, era sexta feira e todas tinham permissão de estar de ressaca no sábado.

- Lembrem-se: só parem quando estiverem tontas. - Raven gritou.

- Para Lexa isso não vai ser difícil, não aguenta mais do que duas doses. - Anya implicou e acabou levando um cutucão da amiga.

- Vamos lá, todas prontas? No três então... um, dois e...

As meninas viraram as bebidas que lhes foram dadas como cortesia até cada uma estar tonta.

- Oh, Jesus. - Lexa choramingou com um careta - se eu continuar vou acabar vomitando.

- Eu disse que você só aguentavatrês - Anya disse com uma risadinha histérica, sua fala ficando mais rápida periodicamente á medida que a bebida fazia efeito. - Na verdade três é recorde - franziu as sobrancelhas em confusão - né?

As outras riram.

- Agora a última etapa... - Clarke falou animadamente, os olhos já brilhando.

- Dançar! - Raven e Octávia falaram juntas.

As três tinham iniciado um projeto de apresentar a Lexa e Anya o mundo das baladas adultas já que as duas fariam 18 anos em breve. Dias antes quando a morena encontrara Clarke em frente ao seu portão, a loira à apresentara às regras da balada:

1- Precisa ter karaokê para esquentar o sangue;

2- Tomar shots de uma bebida estranha até ficar tonta;

3- Dançar como louca para agitar a bebida;

4- Deixar que algum desconhecido (a) se aproxime por diversão, ir ou não para casa com ele era opção pessoa;

Claro que quando Clarke disse a número quatro ela fez questão de enfatizar que Lexa não deveria fazer isso.

5- Não se esqueça de como chegar em casa.

Pacote completo.

Foram para a pista ao som de Rita Ora, as batidas altas saindo das várias caixas nas paredes, o gelo seco misturado ás luzes e ao álcool embaralhava os rostos das pessoas e tornava descobrir quem era quem só de olhar no rosto. Mas Lexa descobriu rapidamente que, de certa forma, poder dançar tão livremente sem se importar com quem estivesse olhando era libertador.

A pista logo ficou apertada com tantas pessoas se remexendo e Lexa precisou de um momento para fazer o mundo parar de rodar tão rápido e encontrar suas amigas, mas ele não parava. Na verdade, com ela parada ele parecia estar girando mais rápido, ou ela não estava parada? Tentou gritar o nome de Clarke, mas surpreendendo a todos Good Girls Bad Guys do Falling in Reverse rimbombou através das caixas de som e a música tinha uma batida realmente alta que mexe com os sentidos, uma dose extra de gelo seco sairam das máquinas tornando mais dificil encontrar qualquer um, por sorte uma massa de cabelos claros entrou no campo de visão de Lexa e a menina se aproximou.

A menina se mexia como... bom, nem é justo comparar com qualquer outra, seria digno dizer que era como uma sereia ou era mesmo muito álcool no cérebro. O jeans marcava sua cintura perfeitamente e Lexa engoliu secamente, era assim que Clarke estava vestida? Como ela não percebera antes?

Como boas garotas acabam apaixonadas por mim?

Bom, Lexa não diria apaixonada, mas alguma coisa seriamente forte era.

A menina se virou com aquele corpo maravilhoso, a blusa subindo o suficiente para mostrar seu umbigo, os braços elevados sensualmente acima da cabeça, e o sorriso... ah, o sorriso... os lábios de Lexa se curvaram em sorriso de 100 watts para impressionar enquanto se aproximava de Clarke.

A menina colocou as mãos na cintura de Lexa e a morena ergueu seu queixo para vê-la melhor, o sorriso encantador de Lexa vacilou.

Aquela não era Clarke.

É claro, Clarke não tinha um corpo como aquele. Clarke dispunha de uma fatalidade maior do que física, era magnetismo pessoal. Lexa tentou se afastar de Costia um tanto desnorteada, desde quando seu crush por Costia fora substituído por Clarke?

A loira era mais velha, mais interessante... era muito bonita também. Não! A menina se praguejou mentalmente, desde quando ela recusaria uma chance tão clara como aquela de ficar com Costia? A outra praticamente pedia por isso.

- Qual é Lexa, eu sei que você quer isso á tempos. - a garota meio que gritou meio que murmurou em sua orelha, causando um leve tremor em seu corpo. - Não precisa fazer um jogo sobre isso agora.

Um jogo.

Era exatamente isso que era. Mas não era Lexa quem jogava, era Costia. A garota jogava com seus sentimentos desde que se conheceram, e mesmo que a morena ainda sentisse uma forte atração pela outra, Costia ainda não era Clarke. Lexa não poderia se apaixonar por uma garota má, afinal: ela não era boa.

- Desculpe, Costia. - gritou em resposta, a sobriedade batendo em seu corpo como um tapa - Acho que é uma boa hora para procurar seu namorado.

Dito isso, a morena se afastou de uma Costia chocada, era entendível a incredulidade da garota ela não estava acostumada a tomar um fora, mas Lexa não tinha tempo para pensar sobre aquilo naquele momento. Tudo que ela queria era encontrar Clarke e tirar uma dúvida, uma dúvida que aparentemente as duas só tinham coragem de esclarecer quando bebiam, no outro dia a culpa sempre poderia ser do álcool.

Somebody mixed my medicine

Lexa soltou uma risada histérica, aquela música era realmente conveniente. Se nada desse certo, no outro dia ela seria obrigada a dizer que alguém misturou algo em sua bebida.

Interrompeu sua divagação mental ao avista Clarke no bar, Bellamy estava ao seu lado e ela ria de algo que ele dissera, a morena sentiu um formigamento incomodo no peito, um quase tão ruim quanto infarto: ciúme.

Clarke se virou quando a garota se aproximava, Lexa abaixou a cabeça e inspirou profundamente, coragem liquida corria em suas veias e ela colocou seu melhor sorriso sacana nos lábios. Clarke não havia dito algo sobre aquela noite ser para meninas adultas?

A loira a encarou com admiração, secando-a descaradamente e se virando no banco.

Lexa se apressou em direção a ela, verdes reluzentes presos aos azuis, nem uma palavra precisava ser dita. Parando á sua frente por tempo suficiente para Clarke deduzir o que estava prestes a acontecer e então apoiando as mãos no balcão do bar e se aproximando da boca da loira.
