one of the funniest things about amphibia is that every ship becomes “essentially canon” all over again every few months

I'm on hold on the phone, so it's over analyzing time again. This time, I'm ruminating over the greatest fear scene 👍
Because the setting doesn't quite make sense. If it was a fear of rejection after what she'd done in amphibia, why were they in school? Why were they in their uniforms and not in their armor? There was no obvious notion to her lying to them about her plans and the box. Not to mention the fact that Marcy was still pretty out of it. She gave no hint that she was aware of the events of true colors at all. She never even acknowledged being stabbed or being paralyzed. She only seemed to gain some awareness when Andrias came in.
When Anne and Sasha materialize and form that abomination, she still begs for their mercy. She still admits to doing something wrong. But the gravity of her confession in true colors is a lot heavier than "a stupid mistake." So, what other betrayal to the friendship could warrant such a giant fear of rejection and loss?
The prom poster.
It has a blue balloon and a yellow one. We know that yellow is Anne's favorite color. We know that Sasha's eyes are blue (and pre-amphibia Sasha is pretty vain), so it very well could be her favorite color. We also know that blue is symbolic for heart in this story; we don't fully know what yellow means, but it is important.
The poster also has two versions of "yes" at the bottom. One with hearts, one without. Same choice, same answer, two completely different meanings. Platonic and romantic.
Was this poster made by Marcy for the other two? It's the only thing besides lockers in the entire hallway. She falls in front of it. She recognizes the nightmare when she looks in its direction.
Was her "dumb decision" to ask them out? Had they been horrified at the prospect of going to prom together as anything other than friends? Did they reject her when she confessed her feelings for them, saying it was a betrayal of the friendship? Is this the fear she's being holding onto? Is this why she sees the emblem on their shirt morph into a heart while they verbally attack her?
Oh, Marcy. You poor, poor gay disaster.
Anyway, can't wait for the new episodes lol.
