Ponyboy for the whole dang novel: Darry hates me.

Darry, every time he says anything to Ponyboy: I love you, I love you, I'm scared to death that you'll be taken away from me, I want to give you every opportunity I didn't have, I love you, I love you...

Darry's terrible at expressing to his brother that he loves him!#to Ponyboy it just feels like Darry's always on his case and yelling at him!#and he's only fourteen and he can't hear the 'I love you' because the yelling's too loud!#and yeah when he reunites with his brothers after Windrixville he finally realizes that Darry's scared that he'll be put in a boys' home #but then they both go right back to yelling at each other all the time!#I also find it fascinating that there are in fact moments where the two of them are palling around #in the film Ponyboy even jumps on Darry's back on the way to the rumble!#but Ponyboy doesn't seem to notice that they do get along sometimes #original post #100 #Outsiders meta #200
