Asamblea de Socios ratifica al Dr. Jorge Bravo como Presidente de la Amedi

Asamblea de Socios ratifica al Dr. Jorge Bravo como Presidente de la Asociación Mexicana de Derecho a la Información (Amedi)

La Asamblea Virtual General de Socios de la Asociación Mexicana de Derecho a la Información (Amedi), celebrada el miércoles 26 de enero, ratificó por un periodo más de dos años al doctor Jorge Enrique Bravo Torres Coto como Presidente de la Amedi para el periodo 2022-2023.

Tanto el doctor Jorge Bravo como su Consejo Directivo promoverán y defenderán el cumplimiento de los derechos fundamentales de libertad de expresión, derecho a la información, derecho de acceso a las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC), derechos de las audiencias y autonomía de las instituciones reguladoras.

Jorge Bravo es doctor en Ciencias Políticas y Sociales con orientación en Comunicación por la Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales de la UNAM, profesor universitario, director General de DPL Group, empresa consultora y agencia de noticias especializada en políticas públicas digitales y de telecomunicaciones. Además, es columnista semanal en el periódico El Economista y la revista Proceso.

El presidente ratificado de la Amedi señaló: “el derecho a la información tiene nuevos retos; mientras continúan los atentados a la libertad de expresión en México, también se han sumado nuevos actores que obligan a entender y defender de mejor manera el derecho a la información en el entorno digital. La agenda del derecho a la información de la Amedi se ha ampliado, por lo que requiere un análisis más robusto, una defensa más estratégica y una mayor vinculación con la sociedad para que conozca sus derechos, los defienda y haga valer ante autoridades, instituciones, medios de comunicación y plataformas de Internet”.

La Amedi continuará y fortalecerá su perfil académico, profesional, activista, participativo e independiente. Sus ejes rectores serán el derecho a la información que incluye, entre otros, la pluralidad y diversidad en los medios, la defensa de los derechos de las audiencias, la independencia editorial de los medios públicos y la transparencia.

Difundirá y defenderá los derechos digitales, incluida la libertad en Internet, la veracidad de la información y el rechazo a las noticias falsas y la desinformación desde los medios, las plataformas digitales y las instituciones.

Desde la presidencia de la Amedi se defenderá el derecho de acceso a las TIC, la alfabetización digital y la inclusión digital universal. Asimismo, la libertad de expresión, la protección a periodistas y personas defensoras de derechos humanos y el libre ejercicio periodístico sin interferencias. La autonomía de los organismos reguladores, una bandera histórica de la Amedi, también será defendida. Asimismo, la equidad e inclusión digital de género y la no discriminación en la comunicación, los medios y las plataformas tecnológicas.

Castilla y León consigue dos plazas para los cuartos de final del Campeonato Nacional de Galgos

La localidad de Madrigal de las Altas Torres albergó durante la jornada de hoy la primera fase de los octavos de final del LXXX Campeonato Nacional de Galgos en Campo que contó con alrededor de 20.000 visitantes que disfrutaron hasta la caida del sol de las mejores liebres y carreras de esta prueba.

La competición arrancó pasadas las once y cuarto de la mañana una vez que los 16 canes pasarán el reconocimiento médico. En el campo, se pudieron ver multitud de carreras que una vez más hicieron vibrar al multitudinario público.

La primera de las participantes en pasar a la siguiente fase del Nacional fue la galga Andrea del Coello del Club ‘Los Murieles’, campeona de la Copa Palencia. Esta perra se impuso en segunda ronda a la representante del grupo III de Castilla-La Mancha, Moneda del Maestro. Según su propiterario,Miguel Ángel Maestre, la campeona del grupo mixto Castilla y León-Castilla la Mancha, destaca por su fuerza.

Además de Andrea del Coello, también consiguió plaza otra galga que corría por Castilla y León. Malú de Villadiezma, hija de Hache de galgueros de Castilla y Luda de Villadiezma, corrió por la primera collera y consiguió su pase para cuartos haciendo gala de su explosiva salida, según comentó su representante Oscar Cantero. Esta esta deportista de élite en fase regional ha disputado un total de 13 carreras, con un tiempo total invertido de 17 minutos y 5 segundos, lo que le da una media por carrera de 1 minuto y 19 segundos y lo más importante, no perdió ningún punto en competición.Malún se impuso a Leyenda II del Cucarrón, clasificada por el Grupo IV de Andalucía.

También se clasificaron Esplendido de Pasoslargos del grupo I Madrid; Sirena de JB del Grupo II de Castilla- La Mancha; Cachurro de Lunares del Grupo Mixto Andalucía-Madrid y Donante I de Hormiga del Grupo V de Andalucía.

Mañana, domingo, el coto volverá albergar varias colleras. La primera en disputarse será la collera tercera con Tarrita de Tarrito del Grupo IV de Castilla y León y Farruca de Julio Herrera del Grupo I de Andalucía y la segunda será protagonizada por Milana de Pachichi de Grupo II de Andalucía y Oliera IX de Perachi Grupo I de Castilla- La mancha.

Thousands of Tourists Evacuated From Cuba and St. Maarten in Hurricane Irma’s Aftermath

More than 5,000 tourists were evacuated from the keys off Cuba’s north-central coast, where the government has built dozens of resorts in recent years, after Hurricane Irma ripped roofs off houses, collapsed buildings and flooded hundreds of miles of coastline as it raked Cuba’s northern coast.

As Hurricane Irma’s eye wall hit the Florida keys Sunday morning, it had already left devastation on islands the length of the Caribbean in a trail of destruction that has left 22 people dead so far.

Prime Minister William Marlin of St. Maarten said about 1,600 tourists had been evacuated and efforts were being made to move 1,200 more.

Marlin said many countries and people have offered help to St. Maarten, but authorities were waiting on the weather conditions to see how it could be coordinated. Authorities are still trying to determine the extent of damage to the island but he said 28 police officers lost homes during the storms.

The U.S. State Department helped more than 500 Americans fly out of St. Martin, starting with those in need of urgent medical care, spokeswoman Heather Nauert said.

Carol Basch, a 53-year-old tourist from Savannah, Georgia, took refuge during the storm in the bathroom of her St. Martin hotel room after windows shattered. She stayed there praying for about four hours, surrounding herself with pillows.

“I kept saying, ‘Lord, please stop this, and soon, soon,'” said Basch, who was evacuated to Puerto Rico. “I’m glad I’m alive. I didn’t think I was going to make it.”

France and the Netherlands said their islands in the Caribbean were spared major damage from Jose, which passed farther away from the islands than expected.

Staggering Damage in Cuba

As Irma left Cuba and directed its 130 mph (215 kph) winds toward Florida Sunday, authorities on the island were warning of staggering damage to keys along the northern coast studded with all-inclusive resorts and cities, as well as farmland in central Cuba.

There were no immediate reports of deaths in Cuba — a country that prides itself on its disaster preparedness – but authorities were trying to restore power, clear roads and warning that people should stay off the streets of Havana because flooding could continue into Monday.

Residents of “the capital should know that the flooding is going to last more than 36 hours, in other words, it is going to persist,” Civil Defense Col. Luis Angel Macareno said late Saturday, adding that the waters had reach at about 2,000 feet (600 meters) into parts of Havana.

As Irma rolled in, Cuban soldiers went through coastal towns to force residents to evacuate, taking people to shelters at government buildings and schools — and even caves.

Video images from northern and eastern Cuba showed uprooted utility poles and signs, many downed trees and extensive damage to roofs. Witnesses said a provincial museum near the eye of the storm was in ruins. And authorities in the city of Santa Clara said 39 buildings collapsed.

Civil Defense official Gregorio Torres said authorities were trying to tally the extent of the damage in eastern Cuba, home to hundreds of rural communities.

In Caibarien, a small coastal city about 200 miles (320 kilometers) east of Havana, winds downed power lines and a three-block area was under water. Many residents had stayed put, hoping to ride out the storm.

Lush Caribbean Resort Feel Irma’s Wrath

Before slamming into Cuba, Irma had caused havoc in lush Caribbean resorts such as St. Martin, St. Barts, St. Thomas, Barbuda and Anguilla.

Many of Irma’s victims fled their battered islands on ferries and fishing boats for fear Hurricane Jose would destroy or drench anything Irma left untouched, but Jose veered away before doing much more damage.

On the Dutch side of St. Martin, an island divided between French and Dutch control, an estimated 70 percent of the homes were destroyed by Irma, according to the Dutch government.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center downgraded a hurricane warning for Barbuda and Anguilla. A hurricane watch also was discontinued for nearby Antigua.

In a tweet, the Dutch navy said the security situation on St. Maarten, which saw widespread looting and robberies after Hurricane Irma, had improved thanks to patrols by marines and police flown to the island to help overwhelmed local law enforcement.
