According to legend, the five original leaders of the Clans situated around the Great Lake of Trees ascended and became gods and goddesses after their deaths. Foxstar, Lakestar, Treestar, Froststar, and Leafstar are considered to be the major gods and goddesses of the Clans. Each cat is the main god/goddess of their Clan, though technically, cats give thanks to and worship all five of them.

The other three major gods and goddesses are Lunae, Sol, and Terra, representing the moon, sun, and Earth respectively. Lunae is represented as female, Sol is represented as non-binary and/or androgynous, and Terra is represented as male. Lunae is considered the protector of she-cats or female-aligned cats, especially those in same gender relationships. Terra is considered the protector of toms or male-aligned cats, especially those in same gender relationships. Sol is considered the protector of non-binary and/or non-gender aligned cats, especially those in relationships with other non-binary and/or non-gender aligned cats. Lunae and Sol are often represented as the parents of Terra.

Foxstar: considered the protector of FoxClan and god of war and physical strength, he is often depicted as standing beside leaders and senior warriors as they go into battle. Cats will often pray to him before an important battle.

Lakestar: considered the protector of LakeClan and goddess of peace and mental strength, she is often depicted as standing beside powerful she-cats and those with strong psyches. Cats will often pray to her before making important decisions.

Treestar: considered the protector of TreeClan and goddess of hunting and agility, she is often depicted with a dead deer to show her hunting prowess. Cats will often pray to her before going out to hunt, or while giving thanks to dead prey.

Froststar: considered the protector of FrostClan and god of leafbare and weather, he is often depicted as having a storm at his paws to show his control of the weather. Cats will often pray to him during times of drought, flood, blizzards, and other extreme weather phenomena.

Leafstar: considered the protector of LeafClan and goddess of knowledge and herbs, she is often depicted with herbs in her mouth to symbolize her knowledge of herbs. Cats, especially medicine cats, will often pray to her during times of great sickness.

Lunae: considered the protector of she-cats and goddess of the Moon, she is often depicted with kits or pregnant to represent her love and care of kits and other she-cats. She is also often depicted with other she-cats, who are her lovers, as though she is mates with Sol, she has other female lovers. Lunae is often depicted as the mother of Terra. She is believed to watch over warriors when they sit vigil for the first time on the night of their ceremony.

Sol: considered the protector of non-binary and non-gender aligned cats and godden of the Sun, they are often depicted with a beam of light shining down on them, or searching for knowledge. They are considered to be a guardian of knowledge, much like Leafstar but more powerful. They are often depicted as the other parent of Terra.

Terra: considered the protector of toms and god of the Earth, he is often depicted running or healing the Earth, as he is also considered nature’s guardian. He is often depicted as the son of Lunae and Sol, and according to legend has a fiery temper but a love for nature.
