I got to see so many magnificent islands of all shapes and sizes in Thailand, one of them was the King Kong Island.⠀ ⠀ I am sure you can figure out from the picture why it has that name. The rock formation apparently looks like King Kong.⠀ ⠀ Ang Thong Marine National Park covers 42 islands in total and King Kong Island is a small island within the National Park.⠀ ⠀ You are not allowed to go to the island. You can just take photos and videos from the boat.⠀ ⠀ If you are planning to visit Koh Samui, make sure that the Ang Thong National Park tour is on your list of places to visit there.⠀ ⠀ Has any of you been to a Marine National Park before ?⠀ ⠀ ........................⠀ #kingkongisland #kohsamui #samui #angthong #angthongnationalpark #thailand #thailandtravel #thailandtravel #thailand_ig #travelthailand #travelsamui #travelkohsamui #tourismsamui #tourismkohsamui #samuithailand #kohsamuithailand #explorekohsamui #exploresamui #island #visitthailand #thailandtourism #kohsamuitouriam #samuitourism #tripotocommunity #travellingindian #travelthailand2020 #solotravelthailand ⠀ (at Koh Samui) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7fagyFgPga/?igshid=1abtbiwsq2jn2

ANG THONG MARINE NATIONAL PARK 🇹🇭🌊🚣
We decided to head to Koh Samui mostly so we could enjoy a day out kayaking in the Mu Ko Ang Thong, the marine national park that surrounds Samui in the Gulf of Thailand, not actually caring much for what Samui had to offer on land.
Tumblr media
Samui itself is in fact pretty bad, at least for what we've seen. It looks like sexpat paradise and I don't think there's much else I need to say.
We settled in Lamai Beach in a quiet part of town and near Crystal Bay but unfortunately the weather after weeks of glorious sunshine turned for the worse and we were stuck in our resort for a full day with just a few rainless hours to check out the (disappointing and very much not picture-worthy) beach behind our hut. The following day, on the morning of our boat trip to Ang Thong National Park the sky looked like this.
Tumblr media
The day trip and the kayaking still happened in spite of things getting even worse and even though the views of the national park got compromised we actually had loads of fun kayaking in the pouring rain and only really prayed for our lives once when the boat started going all titanic in the middle of a tropical storm two hours away from the coast.

After some more kayaking we reached Mae Koh Island and climbed up and down the steepest stairs ever made in human history to pay a visit to a gorgeous emerald lagoon.

As soon as we left the lagoon and headed to the boat to start our journey back to Samui the weather suddenly changed clearing up in literally less than five minutes and blessing us all with glorious sunshine. Lucky us.

Anyway our two day stop in Samui was pretty much this and even though we had Scottish weather and it rained like there was no tomorrow almost the whole time we were there we enjoyed kayaking around the islands of Ang Thong and are glad we stopped by.

New Year, new pastures!
Mae Haad, Koh Ma, Ang Thong National Park and Baan Tai My friend Sanna joined me at The Sanctuary just before New Year and once the parties and resolutions started to fade, it was time to move up on the beautiful island of Koh Phangan... We got to Mae Haad and were blessed with a pretty little bungalow (B400 per night, a mere B200 per person) right off the beach with a view of the sandbank leading to Koh Ma island. After a day of exploring the beach and Koh Ma Island off the aptly named "Island View Cabana Resort", we unfortunately had to move on once again and had a slightly more jungle style stay at the Mae Haad View Resort... Jungle means bugs; mainly centipedes and spiders and after our thrill-filled night at our bungalow, we were more than ready for our daytrip to Ang Thong (Golden Bowl) National Park.... http://wikitravel.org/en/Ang_Thong_National_Marine_Park And my was this the mother of all Daytrips! All things lovely thrown in and the sun basking down on us from a cloudless sky, the day could not have been more perfect! We started the day off snorkeling with hundreds of colourful fish to oogle and sea urchins to admire (that look a bit like Ewoks with their glowing "eyes"). After an hour of so of snorkeling we were pretty ravenous and thankfully the crew had cooked up a yummy lunch which we ate on the boat whilst the journey continued to the Koh Mae Koh island. Stepping off to a sparkling white beach, we had an enduring climb up some very steep steps to get a stunning view of the famous Emerald Lagoon (featured in movie The Beach). As soon as we arrived we were greeted with a cacophony of various screeches and yells from the jungle. Our captain was strict with the timings threatening to leave any late ones behind...I first joked that there could be worse places to get stuck in but after seeing his face I understood this island really is wild and at night the crawlies and the rest come out to play... Finally it was time for the breathtaking climb up to the highest peak on Koh Wua Talap Island. Not for the faint hearted! This hike meant overcoming some serious vertigo issues and fears. The climb involves pulling oneself up by a rope along a very rocky and steep terrain leading to a finale of crawling on all fours up an incredibly sharp stonewall to a viewing platform that overlooks the whole Ang Thong National Park...suppose the reward was worth it! We all had to gather our spirits and strength for quite a while (pretending to be photographing the views) for the descend and although I consider myself fairly fit, practically my whole body ached for 3 days after the climb! Still I'm glad to put that climb on my bucket list with a line across it! ;) After our day trip, dinner-ing with the locals and neon painting my art on the Mae Haad View Resort bar bench we were on the move towards Thonsala - partly as my d-date was nearing... Baan Tai and Namthip Home Beach Resort was ok but nothing much to write home about, apart from maybe the amazing carrot and mint shakes they serve! ; b

I believe it is essential to know what you like and dislike about yourself.⠀ ⠀ I am thinking a lot about it myself these days. The conclusion I've reached to is that everyone is unique. Everyone is supposed to be different so that we can learn something new from each other. We can adopt traits that we like in others and we can get rid of the habits that serve us no purpose. ⠀ ⠀ Some days I wish there was a simple button to Like or Dislike our habits so that we could let go of our bad habits and adopt the good ones easily.⠀ ⠀ I have an annoying habit of laughing unnecessarily at my own jokes.⠀ ⠀ What is your one annoying habit that you would like to change?⠀ ⠀ ........................................⠀ #souththailand #riverkwai #backpackingthailand #thaimaa #laostyle #northofthailand #thailandholiday #visitlaos #touri #tourizm #balitourism #touristenfahrten #samuithailand #beautifulcambodia #nikonthailand #samuitourism #travelinthailand #recliningbuddha #phukettrip #southeastasiatravel #phiphidon #thailandtourism #tourismequebec #worldtourists #sustainabletourism #angthongnationalpark #angthong #kohsamui https://www.instagram.com/p/B_g-yMiA7MP/?igshid=1agingg2i9289
