The following is based off my personal opinions, economic background and for clarification purposes based on Rejets presentations. Corrections and constructive criticism is welcomed.

We all jump to conclusions when something precious and dear to us is in danger. That's perfectly fine. Just remeber to keep calm, step back, and do some research. Or message @Iwasaki_Rejet on Twitter.

Most of us know that Rejet has seen a loss in profit since their last presentation. Not just with their dl project. I just want to clarify a few things. Fanart/Doujinshi from both Western and Japanese fans do not affect the profit loss of Rejets dl project. Those artist don't make a significant profit with commission sales. Pirated event DVDs affected it greatly which is why they will no longer be selling them. Followed by illegel uploads of drama CDs and bootlegged items (ie: merchandise from Alibaba; Ebay where they steal official Rejet licensed art and sell it as unlicensed cups, pillows, other unlicensed goods). Etsy also has illegal Chibi Stickers that uses official Rejet art but I'm guessing they would see no significant loss from there.

Fanartists and Doujinshi creators aren't making a living off of selling drawings of their favorite dl characters. Rejet has knowledge of this and sees it as harmless. They aren't blind. They would never sue their fans for trying to recreate their art in their own style because there is no profit loss from that. They would never attack their fanbase. They would end up losing a lot if they do. This goes for little things like editing game CGs, completely harmless. Why? As long as it doesn't affect Rejets market, then it's fine.

Now creating fan keychains, shirts or other big ticket items based off their original idea might be a problem if the creator is making a living off them. Why you ask? Well because Rejet already has similar licensed merchandise and this creates economical competition. If they see that they are making a profit off their original idea which the opposing party has no license for, only then will they most likely sue. There are some small companies selling unlicensed merch at conventions. These are the guys you want to go after. They make a living off selling knockoffs. These types of companies mainly run by fans, buy items from Alibaba or reprint art to shirts and pins without proper authorization. You can find these sellers at artists alleys in places like Singapore, Malaysia or other places where copyright isn't respected because of their countries economic state. Rarely do they get called out because their customers aren't willing to pay high for real merch so they continue with the alternative. If you go to any conventions and see this, call them out. Take photos and message Rejet, get a hold of staff at the convention you're at to blacklist those sellers. This does affect Rejets market.

Now of you haven't noticed already, most DL merchandise has only been marketed to Japanese/Asian fans only. (We've been recently blessed with @animateinternational so check out their shop. They ship licensed merch overseas) So their loss comes from JP/Asia and not overseas. They've recently partnered with Bilibili for their events to help them reach the Chinese fan base with their Rejet events because they've noticed that they pirate events since 2014. It's due to their limited access or just because maybe those fans feel like uploading the events for whatever reasons they have. Rejet noticed that the problem has continued which is why on their recent 2017 Endless Summer event, they announced that they will no longer release event DVDs to prevent any more loss. They are part of the problem, not Westerners.

If you want to support Rejet, awesome do it. Don't encourage fans to report on behalf of Rejet. That's fruad and illegal to do. Only Rejet can take stuff down of they see it as a threat. If the person you are reporting chooses to counter then you're in trouble. The person you reported can sue you for fraudulent claims and I highly doubt Rejet will pay have your back in court.

One more thing. Don't encourage fans to not support fan artists. That's Rejets 1% fan base. Believe it or not, Tumblrs dl fan base is small. So small that Rejet doesn't give a damn about us 😳. These artists aren't making a living off doing commissions dl style. It's not even "dl style" unless they're tracing, that's another monster. I understand that it would be better to pay to buy merchandise instead of paying for art but everyone is free to choose what they want with their money. Support both artists and Rejet. They both deserve our love.
