I have more questions about your demon au. How does a demon know when it's their soulmate? Do they just know or is there a magical sign? Is it common for 2 demons to have the same soulmate? Is it possible the soulmate or demon to die? If so what happens to the other? Has there been anyone that went along willingly to be a soulmate and not kidnapped? I'm sorry if all these questions are annoying you ;^;

Demons are aware of their soulmate from an overwhelming sense of completeness they get when they first see them. It crashes into them like a freight train. There is a sense of madness present from the fact that it is sudden shifting from desperately needing a final piece in puzzle to seeing the full picture. That's another reason for the frenzied state they enter about bonding.

  It's exceedingly rare, actually. Most demons aren't exactly happy that /their/ final piece is being shared with another. The literal only thing that would prevent the two demons from killing each other is the irreversible damage it would do to their soulmate. Which leads into the next question, can the demon and soulmate die? Absolutely, but just not from age. They're immortal not invulnerable. When a human becomes bonded to a human, they're gifted immortality by the demon. Though, it’s not exactly free because the immortality is more of an extension from the demon rather than its own separate lifespan.

  If the demon dies, the human will likely go with them. The sudden loss of the bond (which is even more excruciating than when bound) mixed with the life support for their immortality usually kills human mates. If the human dies, the demon will live more times than not. They are horribly traumatized from the event and sudden loss of their bond. Most tend to go on violent rampage or lock themselves away to mourn endlessly the loss of their mate. They are never the same afterward.

  It's very uncommon, but yes. Humans can accept their demon soulmate immediately. It's a bragging right among demons if your soulmate doesn't resist you at all. You'll be envied and revered, some demons may even approach you to get advice on how to make their defiant soulmate stop.
