For a person in recovery from an eating disorder, restriction/dieting is like a drug. It is not something that can be dabbled in. Last week I shared a post about a platform promoting a diet, whilst they themselves shared their own ED Recovery. I don’t think Pursuing weight loss is ever an answer let alone in ED recovery. The message I want to to convey here, eating disorders have similarities to addiction. With addictions we avoid the trigger. This is not possible for a person with an eating disorder- avoiding food contributes to the issue. (Additionally food addiction is not a thing- despite what diet culture tells us). Dieting, restriction these are avoidable. These are addictive. If we are working on the re-wiring process of our brains then ultimately this will no longer be something you are drawn to. The emphasis should be on unlearning fat phobia, bias and learning body neutrality. Dieting is not congruent with this. Just like someone in substance addiction recovery you cannot safely engage in dieting. It is not worth it. #eatingdisorderecovery #eatingdisorderrecovery #bodyneutrality #antidiet #antidietrevolution #ditchdietculture #antidietproject #healthateverysizemovement #anorexiafighter #anorexiarecoverycommunity #hypothalamicamenorrhea #hypothalamicamenorrhearecovery #orthorexia #orthorexiarecovery #atypicalanorexiarecovery #atypicalanorexiaawareness #bulimiarecovery #bingeeatingrecovery #osfedrecovery #fuckeatingdisorders #edrecoverywarrior https://www.instagram.com/p/CRKwXThpVge/?utm_medium=tumblr
