Any models from antm/ausntm that you felt lacked potential but ended up impressing you throughout their run?

Hm, good question. I feel like early ANTM had a lot of front runners who surprised me, Mercedes from Cycle 2 was someone I thought looked sweet, but didn’t see a model, but she turned it out. Joanie from Cycle 6 is another one, like Tyra said in casting she doesn’t give much in person, but she knows how to model, and serves an incredible photo. I think Jennifer from Cycle 13 is another, and Anslee from Cycle 14 is someone I always forget, never thought looked like a model, but had some shining moments that showed something I never saw. From some of the newer seasons Shanice from Cycle 24 had a series of shots that shut me up, even though I was doubting her hard pre-season and up to that point. ANTM has a lot to be honest of these, so I’m sure there are more I am just missing.

As for from AusNTM, I think one that jumps out is Adele from Cycle 5. Never really saw model initially, and in the first few weeks she gave mediocre, but at a certain point she just went into high gear, and gave some sensational shots. Really found her niche that just worked. Another obvious one is Kathryn from Cycle 6 too, absolutely nothing special in person, but one of the most photographic models in NTM history. A real contender for my favourite portfolio ever.

3. Anslee

Anslee’s profile is just so stunning. Her jawline is perfection and I love how she’s embracing the wind/water. The soft, closed-eyes expression works well and her neck is extending like crazy. The pose is slightly off for me though. The hand looks like a catcher’s mitt and her arm seems out of proportion with the rest of her body. This is still my favorite shot of Anslee and one of few shots that I truly really liked from this shoot.

#7 – Anslee’s Covergirl Smoky Shadow Blast Shot

I feel character acting in photoshoots always gives a few shots that are just too in character. Sometimes that works, but when there is still a product being solid, it just does not. Here Anslee just looks like some random girl on a subway, she is too involved in her character.

Do you have any false memories from ANTM (aka Mandela effects)?

Weirdly enough I was thinking about this earlier, but I kind of forgot Anslee from Cycle 14 existed...like I fully believed that the hair shoot ended in like a non-elimination, sort of like Cycle 5 did right before going oveseas. She has a few good photos, but easily one of the most forgettable contestants for me, to the point in my memories it was all re-written.

Another thing is I just completely forgot about the dinner party shoot in Cycle 18, I was so sure the music video had Kyle and AzMarie eliminated in a double-elimination. But nope, we had that horrid shoot instead.

Outside of that the main thing I always seem to misremember is a bunch of FCO. Like I was sure Alexandra got it for her beauty shot in Cycle 14, or Mike getting the FCO instead of Jourdan in the second photoshoot of Cycle 20.

7. Anslee

The bottom 3 photos were all equally bad to me. Anslee just completely failed to do anything interesting with this photo. I think her face photographed pretty well and her bone structure looks great as usual. However, she just looks confused and her eye contact isn’t strong. Her shoulders are too stiff and her arms are weirdly tense. Something about her proportions seems off as well. I think it was Anslee’s time to go. She had been sliding for several weeks now and she didn’t do enough this week to justify keeping her around.

Anslee’s face is gorgeous (as usual) but there’s absolutely zero expression on her face and she failed to connect with the male model as well. Her torso looks stiff and boxy too. I feel like she had better shots than this based off her performance on-set, but this is still a dismal shot of Anslee.

Panel call-out average: 6.43

Anslee made it this high on the strength of her first two photos alone. After her promising start all of her shots were just so bland to me. Her face was her best asset and she was normally strong from the neck up in photos. However, her poses were always so lackluster and she didn’t know how to position herself in way that flattered her body. I also found that she appeared very short both in person and on film despite not being petite, and the makeover they gave her just made her look old. Even with her fantastic face I never thought she was all that modelesque, and her weak walk did her no favors either. Anslee was so annoying to me. She acted like she was so mature and motherly, but her temper was ridiculous and I found her to be abrasive. I know Alasia was slightly out of line in their fight, but Anslee brought it on herself by being overly rude to her in the first place. I felt like she always had an unpleasant demeanor and made a ton of excuses when her performances were weak. Luckily Anslee was pretty defeated after her first bottom 2 appearance and was more subdued for the rest of her time on the show. I found her to be a lot more tolerable after that point.

#7 – Anslee’s Perfume Beauty Shot

Anslee was the hidden gem of the cycle for me, to be honest I forgot she was actually a contestant. Yet she produced some of my favourite shots. This is just dynamic, I love how striking her jawline is here, and the movement. It feels immersive, it feels psychedelic, it is just mesmerising. I could easily see this functioning as a real life ad for a perfume.

#6 – Anslee

There is no way I would have cut Anslee, I mean this isn’t a great shot, but it is worlds better than Angelea’s. I think her face looks stunning as usual, but the body just seems way too stiff. I think Anslee got distracted by trying to allow the dress to move, but it has resulted in her own movements seeming far more mechanical. Still, she looks tall like a model, and the dress looks half decent, so it isn’t a complete failure.

I’m sorry, but how has Anslee gotten this rough. I know they were meant to represent characters, but Anslee took it too far. She looks like some rubbish actress here, not a model. The grin just infuriates me, and isn’t helping display the makeup. Her bone structure still looks great, but even that hasn’t saved this shot. I am surprised Anslee wasn’t shoved in the bottom 2 at this point, as despite her strong portfolio she would have deserved it.

This shot just looks like a child who has had a tantrum, and refuses to walk any further. Not like a model. She was clearly trying to look broken down, but hasn’t really succeeded in doing so. The face isn’t so bad, but given how beautiful it has looked this isn’t that impressive. After such a great run of shots, being one of the only consistent models in my eyes, this was a sad sight to see.

#2 – Anslee

Bottom 2? Really? This shot for me is just gorgeous, there is such a sultry sexy vibe that no one else went for. I’ve seen people say it comes off as sleepy, but I don’t get that. I just see a stunning girl, which the most gorgeous bone structure (those cheekbones along with that jawline are just sensational) spending some time with her lover. The only thing missing from this shot is the energy, it is a beautiful shot but just a bit too tame to get the first spot.

#5 – Anslee

This is a very pretty, poised and polished photograph. Does it fill me with passion? No. But am I disappointed? Also, no. I think Anslee did what she had to do, she represented her dance elegantly. Her pose seems complete, I especially love from the waist down. The face is beautiful too, not up to her previous standard, but the soft expression works for me. Overall it is a nice shot, forgettable, but passable and complete for this week.

I wish they had gone softer on the purple dye, as it does seem a bit excessive. But other than that I adore this shot, Anslee’s face is just golden here. The jawline is just defined to perfection, and the intense expression makes this shot seem like a caught moment. Everything is just screaming perfume ad. There is nothing more I could ask from her, I just think this is so stunning.
